Stop Space Return (Unabombers dub)
Review: 20/20 Vision marks its 30th anniversary with another great release here in the form of some remixes of Crazy P's iconic single 'Stop Space Return'. The late Danielle Moore's unmistakable vocals shine across two stellar reworks from Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy who infuses her cosmic, acid-laced disco energy into the track. Her Cosmodelica Remix and Dub version blend trippy 303s, cowbells and deep grooves into something suitably fresh. Also included are two classic Unabombers mixes from 2009, and they offer raw house heat and dubbed-out psychedelia that serves as a fine floor-focused reinterpretation of a beloved anthem.

Review: Detroit's Big Strick for his 7 Days Entertainment label has assembled of collection of Motor City leaning sounds from local and international artists here across four vital sides of wax. Generation Next opens with taught, pinging kicks and tinny melodies on deep house gem 'Senza Via D'Uscita' then Flabaire from Paris brings more bleeping sci-fi synths to a churning and dubbed out low end. Big Strick himself layers in electrically charged, fizzing synths and ticking hi-hats to his raw and gritty 'Bang My Shit' and Ron Cook ups the pace with the blissed out bumps of heady hymn, 'Again And Again.' Pegasvs from London also stands out with his great drum programming on '808 Jazz'.

Review: Detroit's Marcellus Pittman is one of house music's most unpredictable characters. He was a key member of the legendary 3 Chairs collective but his solo work is arguably even more essential. Here he delivers a standout track from the long sold-out 'The Eastside' EP on Adeen Records. 'I'm Gonna Be the Everything' captures the essence of Detroit deep house with its sparse, driving drums and a thumping bassline and it is rightly given a whole side here for maximum volume. Flip it over for Adeen's in-house live jazz ensemble, A Band of Brothers, rework with lush vibraphone layers and soothing saxophone melodies.

Review: Roberta Flack's version of 'Killing Me Softly With His Song' stands as a defining moment in soul and jazz, where vulnerability and poise collide. The track's power lies in its simplicityiFlack's warm, restrained delivery brings a sense of intimacy to every note, drawing the listener in with a kind of quiet intensity. The surrounding tracks showcase her exceptional ability to weave storytelling into melody, each song carrying its own emotional weight without ever feeling overdone. It's an album that remains as relevant today as it was upon release.

Review: Hearty congratulations to Kisk's Milan-based Apparel Music label, which has now been serving up sublime selections for 15 years. They've pushed the boat out for this celebratory compilation, pressing it to white vinyl, bundling it with a poster and limiting it to just 150 copies worldwide. There's naturally loads to set the pulse racing throughout, from the ultra-deep hypnotism of Kisk's 'I Wanna Dance With You' and Osunlade's snappy, bass-heavy 'Cucumber Sweat', to the nu-disco-influenced deep house hustle of Marcel Vogel & LYMA's 'Put The Lid On' Balearic house colour of Eduardo's 'Wdac', and the breezy deep house soul of Erin Buku and Inkswel's 'Find Your Way' (with Leonard Charles). Impeccable in every possible way.

Review: Karizma's latest offering proves that simple ingredients assembled with love and skill often yield the best results. There's nothing over-egged about Tech This Out, but its compelling less-is-more approach impressed label boss Atjazz so much he heralded the release as one of the "best underground house records ever made." Karizma, who hails from Maryland, has always been a master of rhythm and he proves it here as pulsing chords glide over loose-but-locked drums, rolling toms and sub-rooted bass. Pure and timeless, it grooves beautifully i and it's easy to see what got Atjazz so excited. His remix sounds mighty fine too, naturally leaning into the OG while adding some percussive depth, while the Yoruba Soul version strips things back further, with harmonic overdubs taking the arrangement for a meandering walk.

Review: The classy house heads at B2 Recordings hand things over to Those Guys From Athens for another quartet of silky sounds. 'Triple Double' kicks off with nice lazy drums and sparkling synths that are perfect for early evening warming up. 'Father's Groove' gets more lively with some steely drums macing away beneath loose percussion and 'They Couldn't Stop Me' then gets dee with smeared vocal sounds and hip-swinging drums. Lastly, 'Never Been In Chicago' plays with filters and gently swaying groves to lull you into a reverie. These work on the heart and head as much as heel.

Review: Funk Machine marks a second release on Big Baba Record for Edaldo who goes big with four electrifying tracks that are perfectly tooled for open-air and summer dancefloors. The title cut brings big, bright, bold disco-house anthem vibes with full-throttle vocals and piano stand, 'People' has a more Italo-disco vibe with an infectious vocal hook and nice retro bassline and 'Jah Noon' is a club-ready remix of a rare Yemeni groove that melts disco and indie-dance with an oriental twist. Last of all is the acid-infused Kwaito cut 'Johna' with classic cowbells and snaking bass. These are big tunes but they don't lack class.

Review: Back in 2023, Parisian jazz-funk-meets-disco outfit Chatobaron partnered with 21st century disco icon Dimitri From Paris on the superb 'Chez Madame La Baronne'. At the time, the Idjut Boys were called in to remix it, but only one of their suite of takes was released. Hence this killer four-tracker on their own Bite The Day label. It's typical of the long-serving duo's wild, wonderful and frequently deliciously dubbed-out work. While the opening 'Le Fouet version' is a rolling, spacey, sun-splashed and only lightly dubby dancefloor excursion, the mix which follows - the 'Grosse Bite version' - is a wonderfully trippy, percussion-rich drum dub smothered in tape delay and space echo; in other words, a classic Idjuts interpretation. Over on the reverse, the 'Sac Plain' version is a proper Idjuts dub that flits between spacey drop-outs and extended groove sections, while the closing 'Sac Vide version' is a sunrise-ready ambient delight.

Review: The 2024 Soulport Records debut by debutant German soul band Miles King & The Foolish Knights sees an insta-reissue through Breakbeat Paradise; they've laid down a club night-errant remix version on the B to replace the original 7"'s 'Hurt So Bad'. Label regular Jayl Funk has underlain extra elasticity and bounce neath this otherwise guardian angelic soul cut, switching the pace to late-night mode with tighter breaks and a sharper kick, built for spinning, not sipping. This is Vol. 19 in the Toxic Funk series, and it keeps the formula simple: feel-good tunes, finely played, and pressed up loud.

Review: South African producer Cool Affair returns with a fluid, genre-slipping cut that glides between broken beat, downtempo and deep house. 'Motoric Patterns' pulses gently with smoky keys and layered vocal harmonies, locking into a low-slung, hypnotic rhythm that feels simultaneously meditative and sensual. It's a subtle burner, rooted in groove but elevated by harmonic detail. On the flip, broken beat originator Kaidi Tatham delivers a fizzing rework-fractured drums, jazz-funk flourishes and a brightened vocal hook that pulls the track toward the dancefloor without sacrificing its soulful core. Where the original stretches inward, Tatham's remix reaches outwards with sparkle and flair. A seamless pairing of two artists who understand restraint, rhythm, and the soft power of a beautifully voiced chord.

Review: Originally released in 1978 on the small US label Americom, this long-lost modern soul gem from Philadelphia singer Phylliss Bailey finally gets the official reissue treatment via Celestial Echo. An underground favourite among deep diggers and dancers alike, the record has circulated quietly for decades-bootlegged, whispered about, and cherished by those lucky enough to own a copy. Bailey's voice is velvet-smooth but commanding, gliding effortlessly across funked-up grooves and lush, string-soaked arrangements. There's a graceful tension between the uptempo burners and the downbeat slow jams: 'Focus' and 'Dance, Dance' are straight-up disco bombs, while 'Feeling Of Love' and 'Stranger On My Mind' show a more smouldering, introspective side. Every track has that ineffable studio magic, warm and rich with analogue fidelity. Fully remastered and presented with new artwork to distinguish it from the shady bootlegs, this pressing brings a true collector's item back into circulation. A reminder that modern soul was a feeling more than a genre, and few captured it quite like Bailey.

Redance's love of infectious rhythms, dark-room sonics, deep chords, weighty bass and cut-up vocal snippets comes to the fore on drowsy and heady A-side 'Faded'. Calgary's Tomas Fussey is the man behind Kinga, a project that embraces androgyny and nightlife flair and is inspired by gender-fluid icons of the 80s, such as Boy George and Janet Jackson, and fuelled by a love of disco and synth-pop. 'Elevator Operator' and the now-iconic B-side 'Sexy Boy' gained unexpected radio play despite its bold style, while a 1989 remix brought slick production, though it didn't hit commercially. Today, its deep grooves feel more relevant than ever and this version features five mixes, original artwork, liner notes, and a vintage press photo of the glamorous, genre-defying Kinga.

Review: Durand Jones, Aaron Frazer and Blake Rhein return with Flowers, their fourth album, revisiting the same raw, budding energy that first plotted them together in a Bloomington basement. Embracing a back-to-basics approach, and echoing the collaborative spirit of their 2016 debut, this self-produced LP took shape at Rhein's Chicago home studio, with many tunes edified from one-take demos, capturing a no-frills but beautifully petaled synergy between the trio. Flowers' 11 phases lean into a refined, yet playful blend of soul-disco, exuding a smooth, homegrown, sexologic vibe, like an aphrodisiac planter hung from the dashboard as we embark on a late night drive. "All of these songs touch on such mature topics, things that we never got to sing about before," says Jones. A right blossoming indeed.

Their prior outing for Philly phantasists Universal Cave proved almost as endearing as this higher-level pedal pivoter, whose three functional tracks do the altruistic work of naming themselves after the BPM they clock in at. With classic hardware reverbs echoing a classic 80s essence, and train whistles, synth brasses and adult filmographic electro soul ensuing on the B side, all we can say is that you're in for a rather varied treat.

Waves Within
Lynx
Review: Waves Within is a genre-blending triumph from Mexican producers Luca Ferrand and Selva in which they serve up sounds that evolve through deep house, broken beat, jazz, nu-disco and hip-hop. Opener 'Bona Fide' pairs dusty jazz and disco-house with a slick hip-hop switch and some superbly sunny melodies. 'Zarapes (After the Rain)' marries Mexican folk and broken beat, then 'Back To That Thang' twists jazz guitar into a genre-fluid ride and the title track evokes tropical 90s house. Closer 'Lynx' is a shapeshifting house cut with bulbous bass and sophisticated sound design that really brings it to life.

Review: There is a great backstory to Darryl Baalki. We don't know how true it is, if at all, but it goes something like this: he is an enigmatic figure raised alone by his mother, his only connection to the outside world was his father's record collection. As a child, he believed this collection contained all the music ever created. Convinced that new music could only emerge by reassembling its parts, he obsessively listened, memorised, and mentally reconstructed sound before making new compositions from existing pieces. This is his latest missive and it is deeply moving, from the percussive jumble of the opener to the earthy shuffle and seductive sax of 'Devil May Care' via the hypnotising trumpet leads of 'Nothing Will Break You'. Fans of Mo Kolours et all will love this.

King Most - "Balla Edit"
Review: Oakland-based selector King Most joins forces with Brooklyn's J. Diggns on this fiery two-tracker built for rhythm-led selectors. On the A-side, 'Saturday Salsa' hits with hot brass and churning Latin percussion, all held together by a deep-pocket groove and a sense of pure uplift-ideal for roller jams, day parties, or golden-hour sets. The De La Brilla vocal tag (meaning "of the glow") seals its place as a feel-good weapon. Flip to the B for King Most's 'Balla Edit', an inspired fusion of Afro-Latin heritage and modern bump. The swing of highlife, the snap of clave, and a gritty low-end come together with unmistakable analog warmth. You can feel the legacy of Radio Havana and West African soundsystem culture filtered through a present-day dancefloor lens. Both sides are party-minded and globally aware-press loud, cue up early, and let the groove speak.

Review: Fresh from the release of her typically excellent Love Fest single - a masterclass in boogie and 80s synth-soul revivalism, like much of her output - Boston-based artist Saucy Lady pays tribute to the 1980s musical culture of her native Japan. Produced in collaboration with Aussie producer Slynk (who last worked with Saucy Lady in 2023), 'Yume No Tsuzuki' sits somewhere between vintage 'City Pop' and Japanese takes on 80s soul. As you'd expect, it's as musically authentic as you'd expect - colourful synths, punchy drum machine beats and boogie sonic squiggles aplenty - with Saucy Lady singing in both Japanese and English. The superb full vocal version (side A) is our pick, but the instrumental mix is also well worth club plays.

This is his own new label, and it kicks off with a delightful pair of edits of some good old disco delights, and both come with their own carefully stripped-back and flesh dubs, all mixed and edited from original multi-tracks. 'Dance, Dance, Dance' is a nice and funky disc stepper with a silky and seductive lead vocal that swells the heart. 'Straight Ahead' is more weighty for the pet time with some fat-ass bass and lovely improvised synth playfulness, all under a vocal you will know and probably already love.

Older's 'Keep Dancing' is an electric and peak-time disco cut with string stabs and hard-hitting drums that sweep you off your feet in an instant. It's a real disco inferno then Julia's 'Satisfaction Guaranteed' reworks an old gem into another fast-paced, melody-packed disco stomper. Two very useful disco bombs indeed.

First up, disco innovator Patrice Rushen's 'Time Will Tell' gets flipped into a paced, seductive disco sound with tambourines and big horns, funky drums and a nice falsetto vocal all getting you going. Here he joins up with Marina Santelli for a blissful new house groove, 'Come Into My Life,' which has a striking falsetto vocal and mournful horns unfurling over soulful drums. The From P60 pairs it back to late night depths for intimate clubs and an Infradisco remixes it into a downtempo and dubbed out delight. The Rudi'Kasti remix is awash with sultry synth work and jazz romance to close out a wonderful, heartfelt EP.

Lifting a key verse from Busta Rhymes' 'Woo-Hah! Review: The legacy of Riccione label Tribal Italia is lent a fully attentive ear, tracing its more breaks-driven, sample-heavy undercurrents. First laying roots in Afro-cosmic music, Tribal Italia later absorbed a broader cultural flux: hip-hop's dense sample tapestry, as well as diasporic electro-hybrids emerging from the UK via early 90s acts like Transglobal Underground and Loop Guru. What resulted was a corridor where percussion met crate-digger collage, forming a sound both local and borderless. This new selection digs into that lineage, filtering the imprint's archives through a rhythmic, breakbeat-focused lens.

Best known for his silky vocal style and smooth songwriting, Bristol's original recording of 'I Wouldn't Change A Thing' is presented here in all its lush, upbeat gloryia joyous rare-groove dancer that later found fame through Coke Escovedo's version. Review: Two long-overlooked cuts from New Jersey funk legends Kool & the Gang finally land on 7", pulled from a lesser-known chapter in their prolific catalogue. 'Rated X' is the clear highlight: a blistering, brass-soaked club weapon that's been doing damage on the right dancefloors for years, now finally pressed to 45rpm. Its groove is taut, funky and unfiltered, showing the group's rawest instincts before the crossover polish of later records. Flip it for 'North East South West', a looser, sun-streaked number built on syncopated horns and low-slung rhythm guitar-a snapshot of Kool & the Gang in full livewire form. Both tracks come from a time when the band were stretching funk's parameters, fusing tight musicianship with unrelenting energy. This release nails that moment perfectly - and it's a gift to have them cut for selectors at last.

Review: LA-based editor The Preacher returns to ECHO EDITS for a third outing, serving up two break-heavy, gospel-laced cuts primed for soulful dancefloors. ‘Rimshots Fired’ builds around crisp drum breaks and hypnotic loops, expertly layering preacher snippets with funk-touched percussion that rolls and snaps in all the right places. On the flip, ‘Smilin’ Billy Sweet’ takes a deeper turn, stretching out a smoky jazz-funk groove into a loose-limbed, late-night burner. Both tracks lean into vintage textures without slipping into over-familiarity, balancing reverence with playfulness. With Greg Belson’s UK tour in full swing, including a Glastonbury appearance, the timing couldn’t be sharper—these edits will land well with heads tuned to that sweet spot between gospel, soul, and raw rhythm science.

Predictably, this debut EP/mini-album is a joy from start to finish, with Coyes delivering a quintet of cuts that giddily mix and match elements of dub, post-punk pop, effects-laden guitar trickery, shoegaze adjacent soundscapes and spaced-out headiness. Highlights come thick and fast, with our current favourites including the shuffling joy of 'Tonight', the acid-flecked electronic psychedelia of 'Organise Your Movement' and the yearning, sun-soaked colour of 'Last of the Light'.

Review: For those well-versed in Detroit techno's underground lineage, the name behind 'Surkit' needs no introduction. Originally released in 1991, 'Surkit' became synonymous with the concept of the Detroit techno masterpiece, UK bleep and Detroit futurism meeting in perfect harmony and a few years later LTJ Buken took the hook and made the d&b classic 'Atlantis', furthering the reach of this epic gem. This new EP includes the 1990 first edition and gives listeners a chance to hear the raw genesis, complete with its unforgettable synth melody and chugging bassline. The Keith Tucker vs Strand 'Circuitry Mix' updates the original with a more futuristic slant while the 'Diode Reprise Mix' gives the central melody space to shine. Side-B turns the spotlight to inventive reinterpretation, with Calibre's remix the leftfield standout: a broken-step techno excursion that feels edgy and dynamic. Then Ben Long & Oliver Way's take (featuring Jon) explodes into a breakbeat and rave odyssey, pumping up the rhythm while keeping the dreamy synth spirit intact. It's euphoric, expansive and perfectly engineered to take over a dancefloor. This EP honours the roots of Detroit techno and the various directions the remixers pull it helps this classic have ever more legs than before.

It was here that Evasive label head Rob joined forces with Simon Copleston, aka. Iteration X, for a fresh collaboration under the new alias Rob & Si. The project followed the underground momentum built by Iteration X's earlier 'Timecheck / Liquid Logic' EP, and merged the individual styles of both into a unified, forward-pulsing, projectile sound. The result was 'Roll One Up / Zebras', the 2003 two-tracker reminiscent of the sultry out-breaths characterising much of the 2-step garage that would emerge in parallel at the time. 'Zebraz' is an extra-special dubbing; an aposematic m(s)onochrome moving through various echos, stabs and what sound like field recordings of startled wildlife.

Saluting the sun, he drops a fine, extended edit of suitably big gospel soul/disco number 'Let The Sunshine In', cannily building towards a grandiose, life-affirming conclusion full of righteous group vocals and impassioned male lead vocals. On the flip, Krivit reworks an obscurity from Walter Gibbons' private collection of one-off acetates. Originally pressed to a seven-inch, Krivit's version extends the extra-percussive, jazzy, infectious and celebratory disco obscurity for added dancefloor pleasure. Like the majority of Krivit's edits, it's a masterclass in club-focused rearrangement.

Blending reggae, dub and chill-out with a uniquely Japanese sensibility, the track radiates warmth and understated elegance. Side-A's 'Hatoba' features a soulful vocal that floats effortlessly over a laid-back rhythm section. The groove is steady and filled with gentle guitar skanks, subtle bass and spacey dub effects that give the song depth without overwhelming its soothing tone. There’s a sense of calm here with this music made for late afternoons and fading light. The instrumental covers the second side to further highlight the excellent backing band. Overall, 'Hatoba' is another beautiful entry in this artist’s extensive catalog and ideal for fitting in with the sound of Flower records.

Review: In fitting fashion for Sault, we've another surprise LP on our hands from the Inflo and Cleo Sol led collective. Sault's revolving door format is heard again in full saloon swing, doubling down on their knockout combo of elusiveness (every track title is an initialism) and creative spontaneity. Coming after a prolific but unconventional run - 2022 offered five albums made freely available for only five days - 10 indicates a return to a tighter focus, not abandoning the phonic plexuses and political undertones that have defined their work so far. Best on the record is the nymphlike, god fearing gospel jam 'L.U.' and the sculpted G-P-funk of 'K.T.Y.W.S.'

Ask Me To Dance
So Good (Naux remix)
Review: Paris-based Basile de Suresnes returns to Frappe with three slices of peak-time, disco-fuelled house. The opener 'So Good' is an unapologetically euphoric floor tool, driven by a sweeping string loop and a low-slung, funk-fed groove that rides just right under clipped vocal hooks. 'Ask Me To Dance' brings a slightly deeper touch-filtered samples flicker through crunchy drums, with a playful sense of build and release. On remix duties, Lyon's Naux reworks the lead track into a chunkier, bass-driven version with a rugged rhythmic pull, peppered by chopped vocal flashes. Each cut feels purpose-built for warm, packed rooms with a shared sense of joy. While retro in sample choice, the treatment is clean and confident-vintage flavour and no pastiche.

Art Of Tones - "Cameo Maceo"

Basile De Suresnes - "Jazz After Sex"
Ten Fingerz - "StereoJazz"
Review: While French label Frappe has released some cracking artist EPs, their bread and butter has always been compilation style 12" singles showcasing the work of imprint mainstays and invited guests. They're in that mode again on Roller Coaster, and as usual all five tracks hit the mark. Big hitter Art of Tones gets things off to an energetic and on-point start via the funk-sampling disco-house hedonism of 'Cameo Maceo', before newcomer Georges wraps eyes-closed jazz guitar solos and dreamy chords around a languid, synth bass-sporting deep house groove on 'Downed'. Over on the reverse you'll find three perfectly playable excursions: the disco-flecked deep house pleasure of 'The Realm' by Robby and Stupid Flash, the piano solo-laden, funk-fuelled summer house sizzle of Basil de Suresnes' 'Jazz After Sex' and the 21st century jazz-house heat of 'StereoJazz' by Ten Fingerz.

Pete Rock & CL Smooth - "They Reminisce Over You"
The Beginning Of The End - "When She Made Me Promise"
Review: A timeless sample transmission is documented on this latest reissue from From The Voltz, a label whose 7" works specialise in such historicisms. In this case, we've the 1991 single 'They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)' by Pete Rock and CL Smooth, a mythical hip-hop duo from Mount Vernon, New York, whose foundational work in the East Coast rap and DJing scene enabled many later developments. With Rock especially often grouped among the best and most esteemed of rap producers alongside Premier and RZA, 'T.R.O.Y.' is emblematic of the era's distinctive jazz-hop breezes. In turn, the track sampled 'When She Made Me Promise', a relatively obscure Nassau funk group formed in 1969; the sample can be instantly clocked, save for its shrewd pitching down by a tone or two.

Be Thankful For What You Got (instrumental)
Review: Sunsay & The Soul Surfers' cover of William DeVaughn's 'Be Thankful For What You Got' is a smooth and classy rendition of the 1974 original. The funk and soul influences are evident in the laid-back groove and sultry vocals, creating a timeless and sophisticated sound. With Massive Attack's 1991 cover also gaining recognition, this song has become a staple in the genres of funk and soul. The 7' vinyl reissue from 2024 remains faithful to the original release, capturing the essence of the track in its entirety. The B-side features the instrumental version, providing musicians and DJs with a versatile tool for sampling and remixing. 'Be Thankful For What You Got' serves as a reminder to appreciate the things we have, both big and small, and to find contentment in the present moment.

Review: The faultless Funkyjaws music rolls out another irresistible disco dazzler in its Discolifting series with Enigmatic producer Black Truffle at the helm. He debuted in 2023 and has landed on labels like Gamm and this one before now, always making a mark in the process. 'Ti Voglio' starts with some fiery Latin vocals and big strings straight from a Philly disco classic. 'Venus' has a fat low end and stepping groove with plenty of lavish instrumental flair, and 'To Be The One' is a filter-heavy, funky-disco cruiser for good times only. 'Cassandra' slows things down with some steamy sexual energy from the horns and rich chord stabs, sure to get any dance floor heated right up.

Review: The Funkyjaws label is back with a second in its Discolifting series and once again it's the sort of 12" that you cannot pass up. Markus "Delfonic" Lindner is the man behind this project and is no stranger to blazing hot grooves on labels like Razor-N-Tape and Disco Disco. Here he turns things up once more with the red hot 'Sister' getting things underway on a nice organic groove, 'Disco Party' then brings some funky undertones, 'You Can Get It' has a steamy edge and plenty of soul worked into the melodies and 'Roommate' shuts down with another irresistible mix of the old and the new.

Review: Pete Blaker has been making head-turning (or rather head-nodding) moves of late and he continues his run of form on the excellently named Funkyjaws Music label. This fourth instalment in the Discolifting series kicks off with 'Zulu', a nice fat-bottomed and dubby Afro disco sound with a super sweet vocal and some funky guitar riffs. 'Instrumental' then steps out with more widescreen synths and snappy low ends with more than a hint of 'Bakerman' groove goodness. 'See The Light' is lavish and bright disco with 80s synths and 'Heaven' closes with a more subdued and introspective sound.

Review: Funkyjaws Music kicks off a new series here with a focus on hefty disco jams. Bodgan RA is first up to flex his muscle with 'Taboo' which is full of bright synth lines and gorgeous vocal harmonies best to some lush guitar riffs. 'Buffalo' then brings some old-school energy with chopped-up beats and scratching that eventually unravel into a feel-good 80s disco sound. The joyous vibes flow on freely through 'La Battaglia' with its cosmic guitar leads, horns and raw claps then 'Detective' shuts down with the most steamy cut of the lot complete with brilliant funky undertones and expressive synth solos.

The More I Get, The More I Want (A Dimitri From Paris Disco re-edit)
Review: A magical meeting of masters of their art here, as Philadelphia International's master of soaring disco-soul, the late, great Teddy Pendergrass, gets the multi-track re-edit treatment from French maestro Dimitri From Paris - a man who has been delivering killer extensions and scalpel revisions for decades. In keeping with his trademark style, there's plenty of stripped back tease-and-release action in the life-affirming take on 'You Can't Hide From Yourself', with the Parisian expertly building an epic full vocal version that also manages to show off the immense musicianship at the heart of the original version. His take on 'The More Get, The More I Want', which comes complete with stripped-back sing-along sections and portions of heads-down groove extensions, is if anything even better - a rushing peak-time delight to set any dancefloor alight!

Review: Raise a snifter to a veteran gem sifter! British Balaearic tastemaker and sonic holidaymaker Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy returns with Balearic Breakfast Volume 4, the latest in her compilation series for Heavenly Recordings. Issued as a limited double 12" and paired with Volume 3 on an extended 19-track CD edition, this fourth instalment continues Murphy's mission to transmute mornings to interstellar beachside joyrides: her Loft-era DJ digging roots shine again once more, as Cosmo pulls on sun-rosed robo disco, jazz, slow-mo electronica and widescreen synthscapery, all eschewing era and origin. Ilya Santana's 'Cosmovision' presages nicely Cosmo's own rework of Saint Etienne's 'Alone Together' and a floor-stretching disco cut of Gloria Ann Taylor's Love Is A Hurtin' Thing rounds out the set sweetly.
