Review: Malinowski and Eon Sinclair are back with a full-length album as Bedouin Soundclash. It comes on Dine Alone Records after the release of singles 'Shine On' and 'Something Lost + Something Found' back in summer. The record was further teased with 'Birds of a Feather' (featuring Ashleigh Ball from Hey Ocean and vocalist Jay Malinowski) and 'Beyond Four Walls'. All those tracks are included alongside some superb new songs. They add up to a reggae and ska classic that leans on the old school but also brings plenty of fresh new styles.

Review: Doctor Bird's latest must-check double disc retrospective focuses on the work of influential Jamaican producer Lloyd Charmer during the 1970s. Each disc contains a significant, Chalmers produced album: keyboardist Harold Butler's reggae-soul/reggae-disco classic Gold Collection sits on disc one, with Debby Dobson's fine tribute to Jamaican music pre-ska, Sweet Dreams, following on CD2. In addition, each disc also features a wealth of Chalmers-produced singles and rarities, including a swathe of killer cuts from Richard Ace (the 12" version of 'Supernatural' on CD2 is particularly special), Sister Stern and Delroy Wilson. You also get a handful of surprise solo cuts from Chalmers, who of course started his music career as a vocalist-for-hire rather than a producer.

He was already a big star by the time he dropped this album, Small Axe, which now gets reissued after the recent reissue of Trenchtown Rock. It is a record full of killer rhythms but also hey messages of hope and revolution that all show his mastery of the reggae form. It's a record that, like many of his albums, marked a landmark in the life and times of Bob Marley.

The ongoing Hot Sauce series hits a fourth volume here with another red hot mix of gems from Trojan's vast vaults and plenty of classics sit next to a few lesser-known delights. Standouts come thick and fast but include a levied up vibe from The Rulers & The Carib Beats on 'Let My People Go (As The JJ All Stars)', a keys lead wobbler from The Hippy Boys on 'Wondering' and Dennis Alcapone who is in fine form delivery his patois over fat drums on 'Shades Of Hudson.'
