Ingalls Way EP (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: VIS 303. Rel: 23 Apr 18
Electro
  1. Potential Events (6:03)
  2. Windeye (4:51)
  3. Windeye (Radioactive Man remix) (5:14)
  4. Back To Sine (6:07)
Review: Chris Romans has been rolling out crucial electro jams for a number of highly regarded labels since the early 00s. Amongst them are Touchin' Bass, Shipwrec, Frustrated Funk and Central Processing Unit, so that tells you everything you need to know about the level he's operating at as 214. Now he comes to 20/20 Vision with some body-poppin' jams of the highest order, broadening the tech house label's remit to embrace the thriving electro scene with one of its most vital practitioners. "Potential Events" is a brooding, atmospheric affair while "Windeye" draws on a more playful, Detroit indebted palette of sounds. Radioactive Man remixes "Windeye" with a steady, finely detailed approach, and then "Back To Sine" finishes the record off with another snappy salvo of funky drums and bubbling synths.

Electro
  1. One LFO (5:38)
  2. One LFO (Luke Hess interpretation) (6:09)
  3. One LFO (Delano Smith Reconstruction) (7:10)
Review: Ted Krisko and Eric Rickers hail from Detroit, and their distinctive brand of snappy, playful electro and techno has already landed them releases on KMS, Visionquest and others. Now they land on 20/20 Vision with the devilishly fun "One LFO," an unremitting acid jam shot through with crafty drum programming and enough robotic lubricant to get the rustiest joints greased up and moving. Fellow Detroit champs Luke Hess and Delano Smith shore up on the flip with classy remixes, Hess waving his dubby strains over the original in inimitable form and Smith taking things deep, smooth and just a little spooky.

BE (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: VIS 265. Rel: 16 Feb 15
Deep House
  1. BE (12" version)
  2. BE (Citizenn Warehouse mix)
  3. BE (Hercules & Love Affair remix)
Review: Revered UK producer Laurence Blake has unveiled his new alias Citizenn, a nod to his maturing sound and harder-edge approach to production. Along with this new name, comes a forthcoming release on 2020Vision, 'BE'.
BE features the vocals of former Azari and III member SYF, and an exclusive remix from Hercules & Love Affair. The original mix of BE comes through with Citizenn's much loved retro-futuristic sound that's overlaid with SYF's spell binding vocals. Hercules & Love Affair's remix follows, and maintains the darkness of the original before taking a playhouse-style approach that's riddled with wonky, cosmic hues. Rounding off the EP is Citizenn's Warehouse Dub Remix - a tough, and atmospheric techno edit, forged in the depths of the world's most renowned techno haunts including Fabric, Panorama Bar and Ibiza's DC10 - and a firm influence on Citizenn's musical direction. A further remix from Forrest and 2020Vision's very own Ralph Lawson will also feature on the digital release.
"BE was put together over a number of months during a hectic touring schedule, Cedric (SYF) and I were messing around with some sounds and after a few hours we had the makings of the track. I wanted to do something a bit more emotive something that could be listened to at home and in the club. Andy (Hercules & Love Affair) coming on board for the remix was like a dream come true for me. I remember seeing them on the first UK tour and have been a fan ever since. Hope you enjoy this package as much as I enjoyed putting it together" says Citizenn.
Citizenn is an artist with many strings to his bow. Having already made massive impact with slew of releases on discerning labels including Madtech and Love Fever Records, and subsequently named DJ Mag's 'Best Breakthrough Artist' of 2013, BE takes Citizenn into 2015 with his strongest ammunition yet.

  1. London Nights
  2. London Nights (Jason Heath remix)
  3. London Nights (Burnski remix)
  4. London Nights (Ralph Lawson dub)
Review: Dokta has been seen lurking around 20:20 Vision with a curious take on that label's particular brand of house. That step to the left becomes more pronounced on this record, where Dokta gets to call on a wealth of live instrumentation to animate his sound. On "London Nights" he interweaves vocal, ambling keys and crooked basslines into a curious and utterly inspired cocktail of cool-headed pressure, which Jason Heath then simmers down to a purely instrumental refrain. Burnski goes to the other extreme and beefs the track up for a firm and functional ride, while Ralph Lawson dubs the track out and gives it a low slung swagger.

Deep House
  1. Baby Powder (15:20)
Review: After delivering two well-received EPs to 20:20 Vision last year, Dokta is starting up his own series of releases on the long-standing tech house institution. He's starting this new mission in style with a single-sided, 15-minute long epic with Leonidas to send the dancefloor into a deep house rapture. There's a cosmic space flight narrative to get drawn into, a wealth of expressive sax playing, an extended meltdown, some well chosen shout outs to the pioneers, and a sweetly subdued roll out that feels very far from where the journey began, like all epic tracks should do. Talk about a statement release.

  8. Viroids (6:48)
Review: There's no shortage of great electro around at the moment, but lest we forget Carl Finlow has been dishing out some of the finest for decades now. In many ways 20/20 Vision is his spiritual home too, so it's great to see him imparting his skills for a fresh long player of razor sharp body poppers loaded with robo-funk. From charging opener "Apparatus" to freaky wriggler "Carbon Deposits", restrained creeper "Components" to punchy melodic workout "Ampere", there's a lot to enjoy and so much musical detail to absorb across this record. As if we'd expect any less from Mr. Finlow.

Review: Exit planet earth by 20/20 Vision is a new series of various artist vinyl releases, selected and compiled by ralph lawson. There is a truly heavy weight selection of artists involved in the project and the first edition 'carbon' leads with contributions from two of the most influential electro producers of all time The Hacker and 214, who both deliver unforgiving hard hitting excursions to future worlds. On the other side Reedale Rise sheds some light with 'Lux' before the record is beautifully closed with an uplifting composition for space travel - 'The Gap' by Derek Carr. Review: The second release in the exit planet earth compilation vinyl series features four exclusive tracks designed for space travel, including the first ever collaboration between Keith Tucker of Aux 88 and Carl Finlow. The resulting track 'Coder' is an electro masterpiece. The more established electro pairing of Jensen Interceptor and Assembler Code hit heavy with 'Red Cell' while Voitmann brings the bass to space with 'Subtopia'. The record is rounded off beautifully by Cignol with Detroit infused string sections and harmonies on his '51D' track.

Business EP (Mathew Jonson mix) (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: VIS 304. Rel: 21 May 18
Minimal/Tech House
  1. Business (Mathew Jonson Late For Work remix)
  2. Let Your Body
  3. Business
Review: 20/20 Vision welcome Nathan Jonson to the label to deliver some of his esteemed beats - he was previously known as Hrdvision, and as a member of Midnight Operator alongside his infamous brother Mathew. It is in fact MJ who gets the run of the A side with a bouncing, bubbly remix of "Business" that calls to mind some of the most wriggly threads in that unmistakable Jonson sound. "Let Your Body" strikes a different tone on the B-side, conjuring up some rave ghosts and decanting them into a thoroughly modern club burner heavy on the dramatic arrangement and sure to create wild responses on the dancefloor. "Business" in its original form is a loose and funky-as-hell electro jam with live, glutinous monosynth flex and Detroit-tinted pads to die for.

Electro
  1. Route 909 (6:49)
  2. Flyby (4:38)
  3. 1111 (5:11)
  4. On & On (6:58)
Review: James Shinra has been previously spotted dropping quality electro-tinted sonics on the likes of Furthur Electronix, Craigie Knowes, Feel My Bicep, null+void and more. Now he comes to 20/20 Vision with a vivid new EP of productions that cement his place in the contemporary electro firmament. "Route 909" pivots between classic techno and emotive electro, with cinematic results. "Flyby" is a more crafty broken beat excursion with a nimble lead line that flutters over lingering piano lines. "1111" is rowdier affair that sets out a gnarly acid line front and centre, but not at the expense of Shinra's tendency for refined production. "On & On" reaffirms this point with a smart balance between growling low end and sophisticated top line melodies, rounding out a sterling EP.

Review: Following two well received releases on 20/20 Vision - 'Machine Life' & 'Asimov's Code' Versalife returns to the label with his latest album 'Manifold' serving up futuristic electro with signature emotive synth work to trigger the imagination. The Dutch producer Boris Bunnik aka Conforce continues his dystopian journey with auditory echoes of a cosmic abyss. Peppered with moody tones, deep bass lines and robotic funk, 'Manifold' navigates the future landscape in true Versalife fashion.

Review: Prolific Dutch producer Boris Bunnik wears several hats: Conforce, Silent Harbour and Vernon Felicity, but some of his most exciting music is produced under the Versalife alias where he delves deep into the electro sound. He makes his debut here for Leeds institution 20/20 Vision with "Machine Life", taking the classic electro sound further but with a modern twist. We're going deep underwater on the moody title track, before coming up for air via the soulful android funk of "MO5". On the flip, the eerie dystopian themes continue on the sombre "Monospace" and the seething reductionist electro-bass of "Axion".

Review: Relentlessly prolific Boris Bunnik brings his electro-focused Versalife alias to 20/20 Vision, a label which has been excelling at a renewed focus on the sounds of electro in recent years. The 808 beats are crisp and snapping, like they should in proper electro, but the synths shape out the atmosphere in brooding, dystopian strokes shot through with a certain mournful quality. It makes for engrossing, emotionally charged material perfect for the dancefloor as much as headphone reveries - just flip to the gorgeous "Aegis" and feel yourself drift away to somewhere mystical in the far reaches of the future.
