Review: With over half a dozen releases on the techno instituion that is this label, Spanish producer Toni Alvarez continues to perfect his ability to craft tracks that resonate with both energy and depth that are ideal to represent the label. The title track, 'Groove System', kicks off with looped melodic chords and immaculate production, creating an irresistible rhythm that captures the essence of modern techno. 'Jingo' follows with a pounding beat, tribal undertones and a primal energy that veers into sci-fi territory, making it perfect for adventurous DJs. On Side-2, 'Magalenha' dives deeper into tribal elements, delivering a thunderous groove that commands the dancefloor. Closing the release, 'Land Of Nowhere' offers hypnotic loops and hard-hitting percussion, seamlessly blending upbeat energy with an entrancing rhythm. Review: Fresh vintage Aphex meat in the shape of this expanded reissue of the classic rave era anthem 'Digeridoo' from 1992. Treated to a modern remastering job by Beau Thomas at Ten Eight Seven Mastering, this double pack features the four tunes on the original 12" - 'Digeridoo', 'Flaphead', 'Phloam' and 'Isoprophlex', as well as bonus versions by Richard D James himself said to be encoded through his Nakamichi CR7e cassette deck, utilising vari-speed to create versions at different speeds which "felt right at the time". The legend is that he wrote the tune to annoy hippies who liked to attend raves and jam with their digeridoos - or digeri-dont's as they quickly became known - but it's being delighting fans of that golden era between hardcore rave and jungle ever since.

Review: Cosmic master and eclectic DJ trendsetter Daniele Baldelli is back with more Cosmic Voodoo in the form of this new series of releases alongside Mattia Dalara. 'Saturn Express' gets underway with a typically diverse set of influences from psych rock guitar to disco drums and cosmic exploration. 'Countless Sigga' is a playful sound with 80s synth seances looked over drums with a hint of Afro charm and fat disco basslines. Last of all is the wonderful 'Silverado Trail' with its hypotonic lead, crunchy and chuggy ALFOS style drums and percolating arps which shine as bright as the sun.

Review: Brooklyn is not often somewhere you think of when it comes to minimal, a sound more usually associated with European artists these days, unless of course, you're talking about early US originators like Dan Bell and Robert Hood. This release suggests that view is wrong with a trio of classy cuts. Mike Berardi's 'Helicopter Ride' is lively and jazzy and rides a nice broken beat. Samuel Padden's 'String Theory' is more icy and paired back to a minimal cosmic trip and Jay Tripwire's 'Floorboards' a wonky late-night charmer.

Review: Blawan is not only the most notable electronic producer to have ever come out of Barnsley (as far as we know, anyway_ but is also one of techno's most relentless innovators. He's done it all from heft, swinging bass to the most caustic and experimental techno. For this one on XL he aims at the club once more. 'Fires' is our pick - an unrelenting, tightly stacked rhythm with alluring vocal hooks swirling up top and weird synth sounds adding even more unusualness.

Review: House doesn't get much more Chicago than when made by Boo Williams. The big man has been turning out the jams for decades, always with an irresistible sense of low-end bite and top-end fun. This outing on the French label Phonogramme comes on clear wax and is another crucial 12". 'Melodic Groove' is just that, with rolling drums and soft melodies perfectly intertwining while 'Nite Vision' is a more broken beat and percussive affair with swirling pads up top. 'Artificial World 2023' (feat Jamiel Patton) gets your head amongst the stars with its bright, lush keys and skipping soulful drums and last of all is another heady and cosmic house roller in 'Song & Dance' (feat Jamiel Patton - Planet mix).

Review: It's often a challenge to find dance music as jovial and goofy and as this, but this charmer from Lisboan musician Rory Bowyer has for once mitigated our need to seek it out. Janky and angular in their formation, the likes of 'Crunching Numbers', 'Bob's Your Uncle' and 'Horizontal Horizon' evoke the feeling of revisiting Kraftwerk's Computerwelt with 21st Century eyes. Simple melodic progressions (bloop style), pff-ing snares and nimble 909s render this 12" an unmissable cop.

Review: It's five up for Spanish label Les Enfants who have done a fine job of bringing some colour and personality to minimal, which can all too often be rather dry and abstract. 'Adapt Or Die' opens up with nice fleshy bass rotations and some characterful synth details then 'High Volatility' gets more direct with an acid-tinged vibe and dirty low ends. A Priku remix then smooth stings out and brings some signature cool to 'Love That Keys' and the original is a frantic collage of hurried loops, deep space pads and progressive energy. Bravo by name, bravo by nature.

Review: Dimitri From Paris returns with a fresh installment of his celebrated DFP Vaults series, highlighting deep cuts that reinforce his status as a top-tier remixer, DJ, and a true connoisseur of dance music's hidden gems. This release holds particular significance for Dimitri, as it pays homage to the legendary James Brown, a figure whose influence in music is beyond measure. Review: Some 18 months on from the launch of his Better Together Records imprint, Sydneysider Chech is finally ready to deliver another expansive EP. Standing six tracks deep, Gemini Era tends towards the loved-up, saucer-eyed and gently psychedelic, with colourful melodic motifs aplenty and tons of audible references to early progressive house, ambient house and ambient techno. There's plenty to admire, from the spacey, analogue-rich dreaminess of 'XTC' and 'Gemini Era', to the low-tempo ambient techno head-nod of 'Slowride (93 Theme)' and the dusty, piano-rich deep house of 'Interstate (M1 Mix)'. Elsewhere, 'Jia's Dance' sees the Aussie explorer wrap vintage New Jersey garage-house sounds around a punchy breakbeat, while 'Birds of Prey' is a dubby chunk of sunset-ready dancefloor bliss.

Review: Notta's fifth deep dive in moody techno underworlds is a coming together of Cyclic and Random and they both marvel in the details. 'I Am Happy, As I Am' is super cavernous but has rays of synth light and distant microbials glowing bright to keep you attention. 'Speak Dirty' is a more traditional dub in the Berlin style and 'DddSP' then get all liquid and watery as it ripples out to infinity all around you. 'DddSP' (Tm Shuffle dub) hits heavy and rocks back and forth on its heels to mind-melting effect.

Review: After the first in this new Mellow Bangers series got us nice and twisted we're delighted to have the follow-up from Italo Moderni. Cryk kicks off with an eerie blend of Italo arps and dark wave drums with electro overtones on 'Double Crash' then the moodiness continues with the depraved bass warbles and crashing hits of Fragedis and his 'Disco Nicotina.' Antoni Maiovvi brings a lightness of touch to his delicate arps and celestial harmonies on 'Stopping Power' and Adrian Marth layers plenty of sugar and pixelated synths into his loopy 'Modernism.'

Review: Samosa makes the occasion of its 30th release milestone with a gem of a 12" from label boss De Gama who offers the correctly entitled Tropical Gangster three tracker. It's an EP that will keep the summer vibe alive a little longer with its pool-side house and disco fusion fun of Afro flavours and big hooks. 'Karibu Funk' has a tribal rhythmic vibe to it with loose percussion and plenty of exotic flutes, then comes the heavy groove that is 'Lucky Fellow' with bouncing bass and a magic flute riff. On the flip is the more cool and seductive sound of 'PiNa Colada' (2023 remix) which has slinky Latino drum breaks and irresistibly melodies full of tropical colour.

Review: Binar's fifth outing looks to a selection of talented remixers to add their own spin to some stylish techno originals. First, it is Decka's 'Alignment' that gets reworked by Efdemin, who we haven't heard from for a while but are glad to do so now. He flips it into a straight-up and smooth techno pumper with fuzzy pads softening the edges. Next, Amotik brings some urgent synth pulses and hunched-up drum funk to 'Remains Mystery' and The Lady Machine remix of 'Run' is all fat, drunken synths tumbling about with jacked-up drums and analogue hits. Jeroen Search brings some signature future cosmic energy to his take on Border One's 'Organoid.'

Review: A rare slice of authentic breakbeat hardcore to be threshed among many chaffs, DJ Rap & Aston's premier collab from 1993 hears a perfect remaster and reissue via Suburban Base, who initially released this gemstone just two years into their publishing career. A powerful rave rouser which commands an almost equally reassuring quality, the leader is Freestylers' remix of 'Vertigo', which irons out the OG tune with a breathaking, synth pipe organ-powered view out and above the squat party; the track soothes the collective listener with repetitious "baby, we're fine" affirmations, providing august contrast to the much nimbler, spryer 1993 version, which humours us rather than quashes us: "show me... show me... show me how you laugh!" Then, of course, Rap & Aston prove how far they've come with a wild UK hardcore version of an unprecedentedly fierce, post-Kaybug weight.

Review: Ninja Tune favourite and sometime lo-fi house pin-up DJ Seinfeld continues to prove he was always about so much more with a new collab alongside Confidence Man that he describes as "quirky, naive and an ode to all the summer flings out there". It came about after the pair hung out a few times and enjoyed each other's company and the tun itself has already been something of a mini classic during festival season. Review: Oozing with slippery sound design and euphoric exudate, Andrey Djackonda, Etzu Mahkayah, and TooRare team up for a next-gen talent demo in EP form, well and truly showing any other upstart how trancey-prog-minimal house is and should indeed be done. Said to have been designed to create a feeling of uplift and positivity - and yet in our opinion, the record touches on relatively more neutral and trancier moods, ones which could go either way - the likes of 'Que Le Jour Se Leve' and 'Sunrise In Amsterdam' are highly maximised, entelechic tech-trance progressors, highlt reflective of the verve and dedicated so far enshrined in the work of Saint Petersburg label MixCult.

Review: Leipzig-based Eira Haul takes his tech house sound forward with a fine outing on genre-specialists RAND Muzik here. 'Pocari Sweat' manages to combine the stuff, compelling drums of tech with more balmy and silky synths that bring great dynamics to the groove. It's spaced out and pacey then 'Tectona' kicks on with some bouncing bass and kick combos, sci-fi motifs and smart vocals worked in to bring the soul. 'Root Synergy' zips along with a sense of cosmic space travel that can easily get you locked in and zoned out and then 'Beach Haze' shuts down with a more heady, deep vibe, tropical synth details and a steamy atmosphere for late-night back rooms.

Review: For the past six years George Gavanescu has been gathering momentum as a producer of note in the minimal tech house scene, building out his FLoog name with a self-titled label as well strong turns on labels like Atipic, Botanic Minds, TARTOUFFE and Visionquest. He's now linked up with Audionik for a trip into cyclical, hypnotic gear of the highest calibre, kicking off with the shimmering synth figures of 'Tra Cys' and progressing to the trippy arps and dubby impressions of '004A1'. 'Puerto' adds some melancholic tension thanks to the chimes hovering over the mix, while 'ABT-6' deals in vintage techno tropes pitched at gentler parts of a party. Throughout, Gavanescu keeps the motion in the ocean through his finely sculpted rhythms, making this flexible fodder for any tech house session you find yourself soundtracking.

Review: The In Waves label is fast approaching its tentth release but before that it turns once again to Flowers On Monday for this lush new four track EP featuring Amega and Weam Ismail. It's the rousing and hymnal sounds of 'Featuring Amega And Weam Ismail.' that open up with loose, interwoven grooves and stirring melodies all topped off by the prayer-like vocals of Ismail. Review: George and Glen Miller are undoubtedly best known for their West End Records released 1982 boogie-soul classic "Touch Your Life". They released plenty of other records that flitted between soca, reggae, disco, and - in the latter stages of their career - electrofunk. "Easing", which appeared at some point at the turn of the '80s on London label Third World, remains one of their most potent releases - and, in its original form at least, formidably hard to find. This Soundway reissue wisely replicates the track list of the original release, beginning with the title track - a deliciously percussive, musically intricate chunk of peak-time disco smothered in sharp, Afro-funk style horns and George and Glen Miller's lilting reggae-soul style vocals. The flipside "Version" strips out the vocals, allowing listeners to hear in greater detail the pair's impeccable arrangements and instrumentations (particularly the fine orchestration and rich groove).

With local legend Camilo Gil and Mexico City-based Mario Flores at the helm, the imprint aims to showcase Chilean talent - though this compilation style debut EP features cuts from artists based all over the world. Nima Gorji sets the tone with 'Get Me Out Of Here', a hypnotic and mind-altering fusion of minimal house sparsity and deliciously psychedelic electronics, before Quenum delivers a typically Chilean blend of oddball house drums, weird noises and Villalobos style effects. It's a relentless ride that doesn't let up, pushing you to the limits. Closing out the release, 'Humanoid Fruit' ventures even deeper into the unknown. Review: Italian singer Elena Ferretti was popular on the Italo and Eurobeat scene between the early '80s, produced by the likes of Giacomo Maiolini, Mauro Farina, Sergio Dall'Ora and Giancarlo Pasquini. One of her best known hits is the song "My World" (as Sophie). Here we have a reissue of Feretti's highly valued Italo classic (to those who know) in the form of "Witch" under the Helen alias - with which she used for half a dozen or so tracks in her career. A typically neon-lit Italo disco anthem of the timeless variety, with additional remixes by Centre Neptune chief Flemming Dalum and mad Aussie Hysteric - both of them giving the track a nice reshape for modern dancefloors.
