Ministry Of Wish (6:01)
Sweatbox (5:22)
Magnetize Me Baby (5:51)
Endurance (6:29)
Review: Rhythmic innovator Reza Terenzi returns with a bold EP that again invites us into her signature genre-bending sound which ranges from ethereal to gritty. As such, this one offers something for every moment-whether it's for deep dancefloor energy or reflective stargazing. Recorded between Berlin and Perth, mythical adrenaline and personal introspection all colour the sounds with unpredictable twists and dynamic shifts along the way. 'Ministry Of Wish' is a spangled sound with lithe synths and fluid rhythms, 'Sweatbox' is a twisted club cut, 'Magnetize Me Baby' is more roomy and percolating and 'Endurance' is futurist minimal.

Review: Former Prodigy man Leeroy Thornhill delves into the contrasting energies of the dancefloor, crafting a four-track journey through hypnotic rhythms and pulsating grooves. 'Low 1' and 'Low 2' explore the deeper, more hypnotic side of techno, with their rolling basslines and atmospheric textures creating a captivating sonic experience. On the flipside, 'High 1' and 'High 2' inject a surge of energy, their driving rhythms and infectious melodies taking the listener on a euphoric ride. These tracks are a testament to Thornhill's ability to craft high-energy dancefloor anthems that are guaranteed to ignite any club. With its diverse range of sounds and moods, this EP showcases Thornhill's versatility as a producer and his deep understanding of the electronic music landscape.

Review: Tiga's stripped-down electronic funk and Hudson Mohawke's bold beats share a common threadian idea Tiga dubs "hardcore romance." Recorded in Los Angeles, their collaboration evolved across various tracks that ultimately shaped their debut album, L'Ecstasy. Turbo revisits the project with a series of club-ready remixes featuring Keinemusik's Reznik, Montreal duo Priori & Patrick Holland as Jump Source and Berghain regular Quelza. These hard-hitting remixes are pressed loudly on a striking 12" picture disc featuring iconic imagery from renowned photographer Wolfgang Tillmans.

Welcome To The 90's (6:30)
Insensitive World (5:13)
Review: BOY Records reissue an early example of legit new beat robo-trance, Time Modem's 'Welcome To The 90s'. The German duo of Joachim and Ulrich Wilhelm first dropped this deathly cold, wan emotion-stripper under the ZYX Music subsidiary shortly following 'The Time Of The Gathering', their debut EP. 'Welcome To The 90s' proves it: most of the cultural collective mind who experienced the transition into the last decade of the Millennium knew ahead of time that this would be the decade that defined dance music. Just one look at the waveform of this future-gothic grinder - as thin as a too-savoured fishbone sucked dry - reflects the loss of affect that was to be expected of this new bionic-sonic era. We hear a faint robotic voice over the title track's tannoy, speaking on themes of deterioration, futility and renunciation; it glides above the track's unpassable early stab lines and end-stop stomps. 'Intensive Worlds', meanwhile, extends the Gregorian voxsynth to underlie a rather flat, detached description of a future Frankfurt street scene, narrated by a female interloper. A historic slab of wax, reproduced for a new age.

A Living Room (19:22)
Review: Commissioned by Meow Wolf for their Omega Mart immersive art experience in Las Vegas, Amon Tobin delivers the kind of horizon-expanding epic you would hope for from one of the world's most respected living electronic music visionaries. Running at 20 minutes, give or take 40 seconds, this collection of movements worthy of an odyssey may have been designed for a specific context, but they don't have to be trapped there forever. While nothing will compare to diving headfirst into Meow Wolf's critically acclaimed installation piece, a kind of sci-fi takedown of advanced capitalism and blind consumerism in a morally bankrupt world, separating sounds from space still makes a big impact. Noises from the future, soundscapes from the depths of a truly astounding mind, this is nothing if not captivating.

Review: Spclnch kicks off a brand new sub-series here with Toki Fuko at the helm. It comes with a conceptual back story that says in 2045, MindTech researchers discovered a phenomenon in neural networks called "Phantom Scripts." These glitches occur when a person sleeps or closes their eyes, causing the brain to generate images and phrases in response to internal impulses from the neuro-interface. Musically this is full-fat ambient with cinematic and evocative sounds packed into the slowly snaking rhythms. It's creepy, unsettling, but deeply absorbing.

Review: Dublin-based Awareness Systems has tapped up prolific producer Stanislav Tolkachev alongside label boss Pineal Navigation for the 'Combination 2' EP, a split release following the success of Combination 1 which received acclaim from Marcel Dettmann, Dave Clarke and Charlton. This new one includes four analogue live tracks that explore cerebral techno. It opens with Tolkachev's hypnotic 'Battleground' featuring heavy bass and apocalyptic rhythms followed by two trippy, moody tracks from Pineal Navigation which are reminiscent of Rob Hood and early Underground Resistance. Tolkachev concludes with a relentless track of acidic machine funk on the flip.

Review: Sub Basics is back on his own fledgling label Temple of Sound - but under a new alias. As Tommy Basics he leads into a fresh house sound but still serves it up with plenty of his textbook bass-heavy low ends. 'Latitude' is a bubbly groover with dusty drums and fleshy basslines that get you moving and warmed up. 'Longitude' is even deeper, with smeared dub chords and woody percussive hits peppering the laid-back and inviting groove. Two stylish sounds from this versatile producer.

Review: Pretty much does what it says on the tin this one - a lovely slab of vinyl packed with high-octane, main room club bangers. Torpedo is a master of that form and has proven it repeatedly over the last 30 years. He kicks off here with the steamy, sizzling and low-slung house of 'Red Killer', 'Fascinating' then has a chunky Kerri Chandler style bounce to it and 'Bonkaz' brings warm and silky deep house depths to a classic Dizzie sample. 'Renegade' is the raved-up closer that will get hands thrown skywards.

The Gathering (4:38)
Review: Madrid's Semantica Records share the second of two label releases by the producer Translate aka. Teo Pellegrino, the former being the 'Vanishing Figures' LP released in 2022. Unlike that album, 'Untitled' comes as a more palliative six-track pounder, mixing six furtive, generative trax; this is music for spaceship hulls left on cruise and standby. The tracks sound like apprehensive stumbles through the many access tunnels of a cosmic freighter; we're half-asleep, and all our crewmates are in stasis. 'Forward', 'Area' and 'Hoax' are variantly pulsatory and strained but smooth, mostly peppered by the odd bleep or presssure release here and there; 'SD Decrement', 'Interchange' and 'The Gathering' develop this mood further, the final track offering the earbuds a special twinkly aftertaste, one not unbefitting of both DJ set intros and endings.

Translate takes care of this missive and brings wispy deep space synths and dubby undercurrents to opener 'Vapours'. An Orbe remix of the same cut reimagines it with more direct drums and elsewhere the likes of 'Reluct' get more mentally intense and densely layered with spangled synth loops.

Everything (Gone Crooked) (9:04)
My Shadow (Crooked Shade) (8:32)
Review: Earlier in the year, Transmission Towers delivered one of the debut albums of 2024, the vivid and kaleidoscopic Transmission One. Now Sheffield veteran Crooked Man (AKA DJ Parrot, formerly a member of bleep pioneers Sweet Exorcist and chart-bothering 90s eccentrics All Seeing I) has delivered his "crooked transmissions" - radically re-shaped revisions in his distinctive style. On this first 12" in a series, he first reworks 'Everything', turning it into a richly percussive mutant house workout piled high with mind-mangling electronic motifs, reverb-laden drums, punk-funk swagger and echoing vocal snippets. On 'My Shadow (Crooked Shade)', he re-imagines the track as a fuzzy, lo-fi and deliciously dubbed out breakbeat roller - all sweat-soaked drums, booming bass, dreamy pads and trippy vocalisations.

Review: Steve Poindexter and Traxman's Factory Music Chicago imprint has been around for a while, though releases have historically been occasional rather than regular. This split EP, featuring three acid-fired jackers apiece from Traxman and Slick Rick Da Master, is only the label's fifth vinyl outing - and fifth in total. Traxman handles side A, confidently striding between the mind-mangling jacking stomp of 'Pulaski Road', the lo-fi acid crankiness of 'Get Some Act Right Acid' and the sleazy and breathless TB-303 insanity of 'Warp Acidz Warp'. Turn to side B for Slick Rick Da Master's three heavyweight contributions: the mind-bending hypnotism of EP highlight 'Acidbo 1', the sample-rich nostalgia and red-lined beats of 'Everybody Dance (dub)' and the effects-laden trip that is 'Acid Jack'.

Metamorphism (7:36)

Fraction (5:34)
Spectre (4:46)
Review: Beatrice M's amusingly entitled Bait label has in fact become exactly that - very desirable to those who know. Its latest is a four tracker that serves as a taster of a forthcoming digital album by Trois-Quarts Taxi System. Behind the moniker is Eloi Petillon, a versatile producer, DJ and live act who has a knack for blurring genre lines. On this one, they mix up elements of dubstep, techno and d&b into soundscapes that are cerebral, hypnotic and psychedelic. Each one is made from futuristic sound design, field recordings and intricate polyrhythms: 'Metamorphism' warped, linear, deft and brilliant deep techno. 'Coma' is more busy, 'Fraction' has wispy synths and a sparse soundscape and 'Spectre' is a fizzy, skeletal sound that tickles the brain.

Review: Fantastic Planet (which is also the name of a great 1972 sci-fi flick) is back with a powerful new collection, Survival Mode, which goes way beyond music and is in fact dedicated to the fight for freedom in Georgia. It draws on a diverse lineup of visionary artists who serve up sounds that embody resilience and resistance and call upon the instinct to persevere when all other options are gone. For those in Georgia fighting oppression, it's about unyielding determination to defy silencing forces, and the power of that translates into the music. All four cuts are cutting-edge techno sounds with jungle breaks, empowering spoken word slogans and beats that give you the energy to stand tall.

Review: Los Angeles mainstay and famed techno practitioner Truncate has joined forces with Chicago legend DJ Hyperactive for a first-ever collaborative EP. The results are fascinating from the first beat: 'Universal Function' is an anxiety-riddled deep techno pumper, 'Trust The Process' is laced with cosmic synths and an eerie sense of the unknown and 'Space Shuffle' is more jacked, with raw drums and punchy kicks topped by manic synth squiggles. Last of all is a heady soundscape in 'Matter Of Time' with its dusty hi-hats and frictionless drums.

Review: AD 93 is fast approaching a century of releases and helping them on their way is this fresh 12" from TSVI and DJ Plead. It brings plenty of bouncy to the party with elastic opener 'Triple It' layering up big kicks and hits with playful bass. 'Swanky' is another blend of Afro rhythms and UK funky, fizzing synths and heavy bass and 'Gallop' picks up the pace with a more lithe and loopy groove. 'Breath Work' flips the script with Eastern string melodies and percussive beats and 'Twos & Fours' is a fourth and final fantastically inventive sound that will stand out in any set for all the right reasons.

Review: TWR72 takes the techno baton from the HAYES crew with four highly effective tools. '1N0V4T1V3' brings rusty loops and cantering drum funk, '7ECHN0L0G1' is more paired back with twitchy synth repetitions and kinetic drums while 'F4SC1N4T1NG' is an off balance and dynamic blend of fluttering metal snares and thudding drums. 'ID34S' is the taught, tense closer with oversized shakers and some more physical drum patterns. A fantastic addition to your record bag for when you need some real damagers.

Myriad different mods, grooves and tempos are on offer here starting with the puling rhythmic depths of Vardae's 'Pahlevan' then moving on to Kick21's 'Bright Interface', a dark and haunting low-end wobbler. Review: For the first time on vinyl, through Karl Records, comes a limited edition and furtive Yoko Ono retrospective, in conjunction with the over-100-strong, Sweden-headquartered ensemble and community network The Great Learning Orchestra. These unlikely recordings were made at the time of the musician and performance artist Ono's 1964 multimedia collection Grapefruit, a cornerstone of what would later become known as "conceptual art". Grapefruit itself is a large artist's book, with a large vellum spine and browned parchment paper; it contains a series of "event scores" that outline, rather than permit the performances of, many different performance art pieces. The effect is apocryphal and ominous, as though the real performance of these instructive works may have accursed or deleterious effects. "Like a musical score, Event Scores can be realized by artists other than the original creator and are open to variation and interpretation"; and yet, Ono's book is a one of one, having never been reproduced or thus made collectable. Pre-dating John Cage by about a decade, the "event scores" described therein have now been performed by The Great Learning Orchestra, where hardly any of the performances / pieces have ever been captured sonically or laid to disc. This record changes all that, realising Ono's bewildering text instructions as tremulous suites, made up of clattering material hits and harrowing string instrumental assaults.

Review: Born and raised in Bern, Switzerland, Michael Antener spent most of the 1980s concerned with interpreting the subconsciously and overtly apocalyptic discourse of that time through the medium of industrial-edged, dark feeling music. "I found a niche where I could express myself, along with other people who were not afraid of dark themes," he's quoted as saying in retrospect, before going on to explain that singing about love would have been more difficult than using "cries of pain taken from horror movies". This triple vinyl collector's item celebrates that fertile, if angry and dystopian period in Antener's life. Bringing together work from two of his formative projects, The Stranger of the Swamp and Bande Berne Crematoire, what's here is captivating. Electroclash with groove, distressed collages of noise, a certain sense of sonic expressionism - all brooding shadows, menacing arrangements and deeply unsettling moods.

Review: This reissued gem offers meticulously crafted aural rituals that delve into sensual electronic music and human sexuality. Founded by Adi Newton in 1978 to merge art, science and sonology while embracing innovative, multidisciplinary approaches, The Anti Group served as a platform for exploring psycho-acoustic research and this 1994 album was recorded over three years. It is among their more accessible works - never more so than now when it debuts on vinyl after 30 years. As well as the original pieces, it comes with four bonus tracks including a film soundtrack and a remix.

Review: Blume Records return to the forefront of the contemporary experimental canon with the first ever vinyl edition of (a study of) James Tenney's infamous Fluxus suite, Postal Pieces. The storied composer and music theorist was an alpine fixture of the modern music compositional world, with his various writings - both notated on the stave and prosaically penned in the journal - amounting to exquisitely impenetrable tracts on every isolable facet of music theory from harmonic perception to process music to sound synthesis to spectral music. Originally a set of 11 pieces but truncated to five here, drawing on a set of live recordings laid down in 2003, Postal Pieces is one of many of Tenney's works emphasising process over end result. Perhaps the emphasis on process was an attempt to treat the sufferances of "schizophonia", which had plagued musicologists since the 1930s as one of many fussed-over consequences of recorded music obscuring the original source of the sounds heard through an extended medium. The album's sonic pentagram - of long sequences resembling air-raid sirens, its basal textural swells and backroomed feedback loops - might sound doomy to the glib ear. Ultimately, though, this album could also be read as a simple formal exercise, one intended to divert Tenney's own aversion to writing letters (despite his wont to write music theory). Ironically enough, we're sure that, in the wake of this reissue and its hot demand, the postal system itself will thank Tenney for the boost in revenue.

Review: Terra Utopia returns to Emotional Response with a second release, a collection of ten tracks blending ambient textures, atmospheric rhythms and fluid drum & bass. French producer Benoit B revives this project after the success of the first Terra Utopia recordings, delivering another thoughtful exploration of soundscapes. Initially conceived as a short-lived project, the first Terra Utopia was recorded in two weeks during a spring in Athens, capturing a deeply personal sonic aesthetic. This second offering reflects an evolution in style while retaining its essence. Tracks unfold like snapshots of expansive skies, tranquil seas and warm summer days, creating a narrative of serene moments and astral imaginings. The beats feel crisp and purposeful, and every cut is crafted for both personal immersion and DJ functionality. A highlight is the collaboration with singer dvdv on 'Shadows Of Memories', where her ethereal vocals float over dreamlike instrumentation, offering an evocative, hypnotic centerpiece. Terra Utopia continues to conjure vivid sonic imagery with its latest chapter.

Review: Breton artist Yann Tiersen's new album is divided into two distinct parts, each with its own identity. Rathlin from a Distance features eight introspective piano pieces named after locations Tiersen visited during his 2023 sailing tour, such as the Fastnet Lighthouse and the Faroe Islands. The music evokes introspection and tranquillity throughout and creates a meditative atmosphere that makes a lasting and cathartic impact. In contrast, The Liquid Hour is an expansive blend of electronic and psychedelic rhythms born from Tiersen's reflections on political and social change during his time at sea. The section's haunting melodies and Emilie Quinquis' vocals make a great counter to part one.

Review: Mille Plateaux and Raster hero Andreas Tilliander meets Fire! Orchestra's Goran Kajfes somewhere deep - and we mean DEEP - in the jazz cosmos. The farthest reaches of a universe far, far away, but one that still seems to understand how joyful vast can sound when pierced by the haunting yet strangely alluring sound of brass. But simply defining this as jazz misses a point, then throws us well beyond the pale. In Cmin would be nothing without the electronic tricks and gadgetry that first made us feel as though we'd space-walked off the edge of the known galaxy, out past the Milky Way's stardust. Echoes, tape delays, things that add mood and timbre without necessarily shouting their presence. There's magic at work here. And, contrary to the 21st Century's obsession with under-the-hood, not knowing the how is the reason why you want this.

Review: The second album from Stefano Ghittoni and Bruno Dorella following 2019's Estatico. The duo again explores a rich soundscape blending experimental techniques with elements from both popular and underground music. Beginning with ethereal electroacoustic tones, the album evolves with delicate rhythms, arpeggiations and broken beats that cook up a moody, introspective atmosphere. Textural depth comes from the well worked samples, tape manipulations, field recordings and other unconventional sounds that are all seamlessly interwoven with traditional instruments. Drawing from electronic experimentation, psychedelic minimalism and shoegaze, this is a complex, immersive beauty.

A Living Room (19:25)
Review: Shopping-as-hallucination was the idea behind Omega Mart, an immersive exhibition created by Meow Wolf in the capital of capitalistic pomp and OTT living, Las Vegas. A comment and scathing critique of a world that has convinced us of autonomy and individual agency but in feels more militant in its demand for consumption than the 1980s and 1990s ever were. Which is saying A LOT. One of the true auteurs of electronic music, Amon Tobin, was drafted for the score. A Living Room is an excerpt from that vast, blissful yet dystopian soundtrack. Calling on influences such as Jean Michel-Jarre, Vangelis and Brian Eno, this is an homage to synthetics in every possible way - its very beautiful and captivating existence reliant on the kind of inhuman instruments that are part and parcel of a society that no longer understands what is and isn't natural.

Review:  Founded in 2013 by Valentina Magaletti and Tom Relleen, Tomaga was a creative experiment that pushed beyond conventional musical boundaries. Their sound, an intriguing fusion of industrial, jazz, psychedelia and minimalism, is characterised by its multi-instrumental approach. Rather than opting for complex abstractions, the duo's minimalist compositions evoke darkly psychedelic and surreal imagery, capturing the essence of unsettled dreams and subconscious thoughts. Futura Grotesk elevates their exploration further, yielding compositions that are hauntingly evocative and richly layered. This reissue celebrates a decade of innovation and artistic expression.

Review: Bonafide and veteran Japanese house legend Satoshi Tommie is back with a second taste of his upcoming new album Magic Hour alongside a selection of fine remixes. First is an FDF Reshape of 'N01' which is dee, atmospheric and mid tempo techno, while the album's title cut then becomes a swamp, deep, menacing rework from Andrey Pushkarev. And FDF Rewire Fix of 'Phase Space' makes it into a deft, loopy, stuttering workout for the mind and the Sato Alternate Cut of 'Fast Track' is in fact a slow track steeped in dub dynamics.
