Afrobot - "Turkish Dreams" (5:18)
Matt Moroder - "Yasemin Endless Edit" (6:42)
Potentiometer - "Turkish Sauerkraut" (7:05)
Afrobot - "Kalk Gidelim" (5:46)
Review: The success of Holland's AM edit imprint lies in its founders' desire to offer up on-point scalpel reworks of thoroughly obscure but inspired tracks from around the world. Naturally, there's plenty of evidence to support this argument on the label's sixth hand-stamped 12". AM regular Afrobot kicks things off via "Turkish Dream", a fine tweak of a boisterous, Hammond-heavy chunk of glassy-eyed late '60s dream pop, before Matt Moroder gets busy with a deliciously low-slung slab of Middle Eastern post-punk dub disco. On the flip, Potentiometer rearranges a seriously heavy Turkish funk-rock workout - think Rare Earth guitar riffs, sweaty drumming and eyes-closed solos - while Afrobot takes is further into psychedelic territory via the mind-altering, Moog-boasting brilliance of "Kalk Gidelim".

Borombon (2:54)
Con La Mano En La Biblia (2:50)
Review: Matasuna Records take us on a trip back to late 60s Panama, offering up two supremely rare tracks which, on their original pressings, would be a costly investment if you were lucky enough to find them. The A-side belongs to Camilo Azuquita and his joyous 'Borombon', a track bristling with exuberant brass and striking piano. On the B-side, Panama Brass lay down 'Con La Mano En La Biblia', a lively affair led by organist Cristobal Munoz Jr and featuring some of the best musicians in Panama at the time.

C'est Quoi C'est Quoi (4:47)
C'est Quoi C'est Quoi (Gimme riddim dub) (5:01)
Review: Bosq's Bacalao label is back with more of that supreme feel-good gear to bring about sunnier days. The artist frequently spotted on Ubiquity knows exactly how to craft a sumptuous groove with a particular focus on Latin music and Afrobeat, and he's doing that with flair and precision on 'C'est Quoi C'est Quoi'. The track features French poet Pat Kalla on vocals, and it's leaps off the 7" primed for festival deployment. If you want to get the crowd locked in and heads down, the 'Gimme Riddim Dub' on the flip may be more your bag, but either way the musicality springs forth from this perfect nugget of globally-minded funk.

Mouna Power (4:28)
Mouna Power (dance dub) (5:52)
Review: Ever-reliable funk fusionist Bosq has scored another hit here, this time with the help of Favourite Recordings regular Pat Kalla, a talented French poet and singer. 'Mouna Power' is another great example of Bosq's ability to successfully meld together elements of Afrobeat, Afro-Cuban music and tropical grooves, adding layers of colourful instrumentation (bass, keys, horns, guitars and so on). The excellent original version comes backed with a longer, slightly tougher but no less warming and kaleidoscopic 'Dancefloor Dub'. It contains most of the vocals, more percussion and a greater role for the killer bassline and is probably our pick of the mixes

A La French 1987-1992: The Balearic Sessions Part 1
Cecilia Noah - "Yuku Mon Ukulele" (Party mix) (7:06)
Alpha Blondy - "Ye Ye" (club Suite Movement 1 & 2) (10:31)
Gerard Blanc - "Dis Tout Bas Dis" (remix club) (7:35)
Princesse Erika - "Calomnie" (club mix) (8:41)
Review: A La French 1987-1992 is a new series from long time dance veteran Dimitri From Paris. It finds him digging deep into his vaults and returning with some of his earlier edit work, often with a Balearic feel over deep house drums and 80s disco vibes. The first in the three part series is a real smoother, with sexy and steamy sax lines on 'Yuku Mon Ukulele' bringing a late night feel. There is a slow motion party tune from Alpha Blondy that runs deep, Gerard Blanc then gets a little more upbeat but still with plenty of soulful and loved up vocal vibes and Princesse Erika closes with lush piano stabs and synth strings that light up your heart.

Dub With The Rain (7:54)
Review: Nick "Linkwood" Moore and Euan Fryer established East Coast Love Affair with the idea of making it the "Athens of the North house band". They've recently released a slew of singles, of which this sparkling, soulful cover version of Eddie Kendricks' favourite 'Date With The Rain', featuring the silky voice of lover's rock legend Peter Hunningale, is arguably the most revelatory. Rich in leisurely but ear-catching drum machine patters, warming bass and spakrling synth sounds, the duo's full vocal cover version sits somewhere between lover's rock, street soul and mid-80s electrofunk. Fittingly, it comes backed with 'Dub With The Rain', a delay-laden instrumental take that subtly showcases the depth and beauty of the pair's backing track while also adding a little extra low-end grunt. Simply sublime.

Ekambi Brillant - "Afrika Afrika" (John Talabot & Pional Lost Script Rerub) (6:29)
Gyedu Blay Ambolley - "Highlife" (Alan Dixon edit) (5:59)
Michael Amara - "New Bell" (Jacques Renault edit) (5:53)
Pasteur Lappe - "Na Real Sekele Fo' Ya" (Escapade edit) (5:59)
Review: Africa Seven's A7 Edits offshoot has already proved to be one of the better re-edit series around, primarily because they consistently employ some of the best re-editors in the business, offering them the opportunity to select tracks they want to rework from the parent label's vast catalogue of licensed cuts. This edition - the seventh EP to date - is another action-packed winner. Rising star Alan Dixon delivers a lightly tooled-up, all-action revision of Gyedu Bley Amadou's tropical disco classic 'Highlife', before Barcelona-based John Talabot and Pional re-frame Ekambi Brilliant's 'Afrika Afrika' as a kind of Afro-post-punk/dub disco mash-up. Over on side B, Escapade dances through a bouncy disco-house take on Pasteur Lappe's 'Na Real Sekele Fo Ya', while Jacques Renault expertly rearranges Michael Amara's Afro-disco-funk staple 'New Bell'.

Review: Time for some Brazilian psychedelic boogie straight from 78. Erstwhile lead singer in Os Mutantes, with a personality thrice as big as the soaking wet bassline on "Agora E Moda", Rita Lee is no stranger to her motherland - even now. Flip for a huge soul injection courtesy of Pete Dunaway. Sounding English in every direction (from his name to his lyrics to the stunning, string-coated arrangement) he's actually Sao Paulo born and is a renowned multi-instrumentalist. Check this and you can tell in an instant. Stunning.

Retrato Da Vida (3:33)
Review: There isn't much Brazilian funk and MPB that isn't highly sought after, to be honest, but this one certainly deserves the hype. Released in 1974 and now reissued as a first time replica, it is a real jewel from Lemos E Debetio (aka Toninho Lemos & Paulo Debetio). Despite being put out by a major back in the 70s it has been hard to find ever since but that hasn't stopped people. The magic melody is truly addictive, the swooping arrangement and pulsing, funky back beat of the a-side just perfect. On the flip is the more loose and airy 'Retrato Da Vida' making this an essential cop.

Review: The gloriously off-the-wall On The Corner imprint is back, ready to tear it down with its predictably unpredictable chain of artists who reside firmly in the 'ODDS' space. Much like the previous releases, this is a mixed bag of outernational goodness and jazzy sensibilities, offering a release which truly blurs the lines of the extended 'dance' space. Our top picks in running order: Black Classical's "JeJe" is one of the most innovstive uses of percussion and organ that we've heard this side of year, Sam Jones' "Group As Salaam Construct" is probably THE definition of off-kilter thanks to its lopsided beat groove, and "Simba" by Daisho takes the whole polyrhythmic equation onto the minimal end of the spectrum. Quirky, refreshing and absolutely recommended new strains of floor music.

Review: Mukatsuku presents the second volume of killer Ghanaian highlife/afrofunk monsters this time focusing on two artists legendary in the genre. First up first time on a 45 from 1980 is '' What Is Life '' from the Ebo Taylor & Uhuru Yenzu album ''Conflict Nkru! ''. Amazing brass, flute and afrocentric rhythms lay the path for the track once heard never forgotten. On the flip first time ever on a 45 Pat Thomas who features on volume 1 of the series comes correct with possibly the best version (and there are a few ) of ''Gyae Su'' . With its jangly african guitar licks and infectious chorus lines the feel good factor is set to maximum. Another dope afro burner on Mukatsuku and sure to sell out fast. 500 hand numbered copies and no repress. As supported by DJ Koco from Japan and Jonathon Moore (Coldcut )

Peter Yamson - "Everybody Dance" (3:51)
Tala Am - "Get Up Tchamassi" (3:11)
Review: Mukatsuku's long running "Afro Funk & Disco Gems" series has always been a reliable source of obscure, high-quality dancefloor material from the African continent. This tenth edition is another must-have - on the A-side you'll find the synth-laden, boogie-era sunshine of "Everybody Dance", one of the undisputed highlights of Peter Yamson's in-demand (and notably hard to find) "Son Of Africa" LP. With wonderful vocals, glistening guitars, lolloping drum machine beats and some stellar synth work, the track ticks all the right boxes. Over on the flip there's a chance to own Cameroon legend Tala Andre Marie's 1981 classic "Get Up Tchamassi", whose snaking sax lines, elastic slap bass and dreamy chords are nothing less than sensational. As played by The Allergies, DJ Koco, Joe Claussell,Smoov,Kalita, Faze Action,DJ Moar etc

Review: A limited double 7" from Nickodemus's essential summer compendium of the same name, "Turntables On The Caribbean" takes four of the album's finest sun-splashed Cuban and Caribbean gems for your party pleasure. "Rive" is loaded with Latin lashings of funk and a sprightly samba slap, "La Ciudad De Le Eterna Primavera" takes us on more mystical Peruvian jaunt while "Aguacero" is a stately moombahton pop track splashed with premium levels of Calypso soul. And if that's not enough, the perennial Poirier shuts up the shop with a beautiful piece of favela house "Pale Mal". Beautiful.

Review: No 12 in the Sofrito Super Singles 12" series offers up a double shot of vital Soukous / Coupe Decale hybrids out of Abidjan & Paris that will light up any self-respecting dancefloor like a stack of dynamite. First up is the mysterious Bazare D. Pablo, whose 1975 production "Nassima" dices together elements of Soukous and Highlife with brisk percussion and a solid bassline underpinning some delightful vocals. Complementing this, Sofrito throw in "Africa" from Atalaku 8, a Paris-based Ivoirian/Congolese group operating out of the legendary Kos studio whose Coupe Decale sounds would fit right into a House set for the more adventurous DJs out there. Malandrinha (4:09)
Review: The Brazilian disco and boogie scene of the late '70s and early '80s has been in the spotlight of late, with several labels releasing celebratory compilations of killer material. Here, Athens of the North get in on the act, re-issuing Painel De Controle's relaxed, jazz-funk influenced jam "Relax", a single B-side and album track originally released in 1979. Like many of the greatest Brazilian disco/boogie records of the period, it's loose, lovely and really rather sumptuous, inviting you to dance while offering a saucer-eyed hug with arms outstretched. Flip for the less celebrated, but no less potent, 1978 cut "Malandrinha", a bossa-tinged number that's almost unfeasibly sunny.

Review: Having not released anything for going on eight years, it's something of a surprise to see Pama International return to action. The all-star ska and reggae combo, whose line-up includes members of the Specials, Galliano and PWEI, amongst others, have decided to release a clutch of clear vinyl 7" singles all at the same time. "Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye" is typical of their output; an effortlessly sweet chunk of sun-kissed ska-soul fusion that sounds like it could have been recorded in Kingston, Jamaica at the turn of the sixties. Flipside "Gasoline", meanwhile, is a tasty instrumental reggae jam laden with bold Hammond organ motifs, jazzy guitar solos and heavyweight bass.

Review: REPRESS ALERT!: The Bonfido Disques label comes to life with a strong cast of edit-happy movers and shakers focusing on music from the African continent. Panama Cardoon is up first with the heavy-stomping "Olofofu", which rides a sturdy rhythm section and lets rip with some gorgeous, warm sax and a vocal hook that will get under your skin. Fixed Angles take on "Tabou", a gorgeous high life edit that takes on a supercharged jacking quality thanks to some savvy drum programming. Sirhan gets into a pleasant, piano-backed reverie on "Le Flute", where the titular wind instrument pirouettes over the broken beat with grace and dexterity. Chico & Bianca complete the set with "Anole", a limber and funky number with some carnival spirit in its drums and the most effervescent guitar lines you're likely to hear all year.

Review: The latest essential missive on San Francisco-based Cumbia label Discos Mas comes from a previously unheard artist: confirmed vintage drum machine and fuzzy psych-guitar lover Pancrudo. The producer's vinyl debut, which has been pressed in limited numbers on gorgeous marbled vinyl, includes two impressively retro-futurist workouts. Check first languid and decidedly psychedelic A-side "Pulsatron", a hip-hop tempo kaleidoscopic dream that sounds like Harry Nillson after a few too many swigs of liquid acid and a fistful of hallucinatory chili peppers. Pancrudo returns to his cumbia roots on flipside "Maestro Del Kiosco", which wraps wonderfully fuzzy, boogaloo-era guitars round a shuffling rhythm track.

The Panturas - "Lasut Nyanggut" (4:24)
Sundancer - "Dedare Tanjung" (2:25)
Review: La Munai Records is an independent record label and shop from Jakarta who bring the sounds of the far East to your decks with this fiery 7" from The Panturas and Sundancer. It is The Panturas who open up with an intension wall of sound made from busy percussion, heavy rock guitars and vicars lyrical deliveries. There is an exotic sense of high speed 60s funk in the grooves, too, that races you along at one hundred miles hour. On the flip is Sundancer's 'Dedare Tanjung' which also has an uptempo sense of funk to it, like it could have been used in the soundtrack to one of Kill Bill's gorier scenes.
