Review: Ah yes, The Tresor Demo line...what could be a better surprise on a Thursday? Whether you're into it or not, the German institution is a bloody techno power-house and recent released by the Zenker Brothers have been truly killer. This time, Northern Electronics man, Acronym steps up for a rattling, shape-shifting chest-burster on "Nabu" and tracks from newbies JC and Zadig both detonate splinter-like floor dynamite. It's heavy, be warned.

Review: Vienna's Claudia Anderson first appeared on the scene a few years back on Marcelus' Singularity, with the brilliant Hysteria EP, which was followed up three years later with "Liquid Forms". It is clear that is about quality not quantity, as her third offering Synthesis (her first in four years since) is clear evidence of. The heads down tunnel vision of "Structure" is perfect for those strobed-out moments, as is the textured and hypnotic treatment of "Involvement". On the flip,the raw repetition of the title track is reminiscent of Surgeon's early work and "Momentum" goes down a different route altogether on this freeform electronica workout.

Review: The second of three Borderland album samplers features the tracks "Footprints" and "Mars Garden", songs that middle the forthcoming album. "Footprints" delivers exactly what you would expect from a dubby German audiophile and Detroit techno mastermind; rugged, yet finely tuned drums and bleeps that delicately sway in a downtempo ambience of engineered synthesis. On a minimal and trippy tip, "Mars Garden" aligns to a rigid four-four groove, with a funky - and subtly overdriven - bass line, that gives the track a vibrant sign of life, in a pleasantly isolated and jazz-kissed arrangement.

Review: Detroit godfather Juan Atkins and Berlin techno legend Moritz Von Oswald return as Borderland, one of several collaborations since 1992 and following up their 2016 album for Tresor: the Transport LP which again consolidated both respective artist's solid studio experience, honed over the last 30 years. The funky, slightly bumpin' and absolutely addictive hi-tech soul of "Concave 1" will have you grooving away on a late night dancefloor in Berlin or beyond with its evocative and life affirming vibes. On the flip "Concave 2" further explores their studio refined sequences on this heady and hypnotic journey full of woozy arpeggios, steely rhythms and dubby bass frequencies.

Review: Some of the less charitable critics out there referred to Juan Atkins and Mortiz Van Oswald's side-project as 'boredomland'. While the pair's debut album under this name was a largely sedate affair, on the evidence of this single, they will be opting for a more engaging approach for the follow-up. It's not hard to hear both producers' influence on "Riod"; Van Oswald's love of layered textures and hollowed out drums comes up against Atkins's vivid melodies and synths from outer space. On the alternate version they venture even farther down the dreamy route, with hypnotic chords guiding the way.

Review: Bam Bam's "Where Is Your Child" first surfaced back in 1988, and it's combination of 808 and 303 drumming programming with carnal moans and groans made it one of the finest proponents of a genre we call acid house. It was the DJ Rush remix however, that turned it into a Tresor anthem, with the towering DJ's version containing a kick drum that would rival Jeff Mills's Extremist and Waveform Transmission releases for sheer brutality, if not BPM. And it is Tresor who have made this much sought after 12" available once again (they first reissued it in 2001), continuing a fine run of form in 2010 that has seen seminal work from Jeff Mills, Surgeon and Drexciya made available to a new generation.

Review: Back by popular demand, this reissue from one of techno's true originators reminds us just how vital these tracks still sound. First released in 1992 and briefly reissued in 2000, these four cuts showcase a unique hybrid of Detroit precision and early European rave energy that continues to inspire. 'The Warning' leads the charge with classic machine-driven Detroit funk. Its rhythm is relentless yet controlled, mechanical yet human. The track feels like a transmission from a future imagined decades ago. 'Ghost' follows with a harder edge. It channels the energy of early Belgium rave with sharp chord stabs and that unmistakable Hoover-style synth. It hits fast and leaves a heavy impression. On Side-B, 'Ex-' is the most cinematic cut. Sci-fi textures, punchy drums and an off-world sense of atmosphere blend the sharpness of UK rave with Detroit's emotional weight. 'Dark Basse' is the banger of the EP with a stripped-back approach. Its minimal but moody framework makes it an instant attention grabber, offering something both haunting and dancefloor effective. These tracks remain timeless and prove once again that true underground techno never goes out of style.

Review: Tresor has the pleasure to release Joey Beltram's outstanding new 2-track 12" EP "Code 6". More original and inventive material from the Beltram mind. Way back in 1990, he released two of his very first maxis under the alias Code 6, securing his place in the techno underground. This inspiration from the past opens with "Aumento", signaling increase...increase in his signature drive of techno beats, rich in layered sonics, splintering high-hats and vocal samples that keep the lid on the box of bouncing sub-atoms in a techno nucleus. We can certainly thank Joey Beltram for keeping the underground alive and rave consciousness thriving.

Review: According to the PR blurb, Kern is Tresor's new mix series and focuses on "where old meets new, and house meets techno". The first mix comes from Parisian legend DJ Deep, from which these three exclusive, never-heard-before tracks are taken. There's plenty to get excited about, from the dubwise Detroit hypnotism of Marcelus' "YO2", to the techno-tempo deep, jackin' house of Maan's thrilling "Jackin". Best of all, though, is the contribution from the ever-impressive Kerri Chandler. His "Cobal" - a fusion of loose, swinging house beats, darting electronics and starburst synths - is arguably his strongest track for some time.

Review: For the legendary label Tresor to put out a breakbeat record is something very rare. The ardent techno label for over 30 years is clearly telling us without saying, how good this music is. Tresor is always in touch with rave music though and it's not fully surprising that Tresor would support any music that is so reminiscent of the old skool days like Digital Entropy is. Datashader rises from the depths to give us their wicked debut. The EP is an audio onslaught that combines blistering breakbeat gems like 'Velocity 04.22' with eerie sci-fi pieces like 'Sync Out Off'. The AFX like 'Fong' and 'Sub Osc" are early favorites from those who have heard samples of this haunting record. It is rare to see the power of rave, breakbeat and IDM presented this well on one record.
