Figure SPC M vinyl

Having previously delivered ice-cold techno excursions for the likes of Stroboscopic Artefacts, Markus Suckut returns to the Figure SPC series with three certifiable bangers. Opening track "Hunt" is a mean-spirited beast, using mechanical tones locked in the same unending loop to decorate a desolate booming kick, while light-as-a-feather hats flutter around on top. Things get a little bit naughty on "Section", with a wonky synth hook throwing the po-faced beat into a realm somewhere between serious and stupid. There's no silliness to be found on "Scent" as the rhythm comes in with much more high frequency presence, leaving it to chunky dub hits to provide the distraction.
