Review: A classic that delivers the quintessential Euro house experience with its infectious energy and irresistible dancefloor appeal. This new yellow vinyl version brings flashbacks flooding in of the era's vibrant club scene through a mix of upbeat rhythms, catchy melodies and expansive remixes. Side-1 opens with the single version of 'More & More', a track that wastes no time diving into a groove-laden beat and euphoric synth lines. The extended mix that follows stretches the vibe even further, offering DJs and dance enthusiasts a longer ride through the track's pulsating, feel-good energy. Side-2 turns up the heat with the 'Underground' remix, which injects a deeper, more nocturnal edge into the track, perfect for late-night sets. The 'Trance Mix' closes the collection with an ethereal, sweeping take on the original, merging classic Euro house elements with hypnotic trance influences. This release is a love letter to the era of extended pleasure through remixes, capturing both the mainstream appeal and underground allure of Euro house.

Good Luck Babe (3:37)
Read & Makeout (demo) (4:50)
Review: Chappell Roan's latest single, 'Good Luck, Babe!' is a nostalgic pop anthem reminiscent of a young Cyndi Lauper. The song's retro feel, highlighted by synth instrumentation, sets it apart from other modern artists, while Roan's vocals shine as she sings about unsuccessful love affairs, delivering lyrics that are relatable and empowering. The song builds to a powerful bridge, showcasing Roan's impressive vocal range and stylistic choices. Overall, 'Good Luck, Babe!' is not just a sappy breakup song but an empowering anthem that leaves a lasting impact.

Review: Chappell Roan burst onto the scene in 2020 with this viral hit which did a great job of introducing a vibrant and unapologetically queer pop sound. Co-written with Daniel Nigro, her debut album followed in the form of The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and it captured the Missouri native's journey toward achieving her pop star dreams. This limited-edition 7" single features 'Pink Pony Club' and 'Naked in Manhattan', both pressed on stunning baby pink vinyl that reflects Roan's bold and heartfelt artistry. As a celebration of self-expression and musical passion, this is a must-have.

Daily Meets (3:06)
Daily Meets (instrumental) (3:07)
Review: A new song by the acclaimed DJ Mitsu The Beats (a member of Sendai's hip-hop crew Gagle) and rapper Sorane, 'Daily Meets' is a chillaxed, fluid lo-hi-fi hip-hop tonic for those whose ears require polishing, refreshing and/or full-blown aneling in the morning. Getting at a quotidian "everyday life" themes - bleary eyes, coffee shop hissings, cutlery tinkles, long gazes out the window - this jazzy track blends sharp lyricism with repetitious slice-of-life themes, finding joy in those life periods that the less patient among us dare to call groundhog days. Backed up by the instrumental too, you're more than well equipped for both DJ and home system play here.

Review: Madonna has got an endless catalogue of bangers from across the eras and many different styles. We certainly think 'Justify My Love's one of the ones best suited to a club rework and so it proves here with Afters doing just that on Icons. First is an extended remix with some driving drums and sweeping synths layered in next to splashy cymbals while the instrumental dial things back and radio edit gets everything packed into a shorter run time for most impact.

Review: Madonna's 'Vogue,' now reissued on 12", remains a landmark in music history. Originally recorded in 1989 as a last-minute track, 'Vogue' became an unexpected hit, blending underground house music with references to Old Hollywood icons. The song's success was propelled by its iconic black-and-white music video, directed by David Fincher, which paid homage to fashion photography and featured choreography by the House of Extravaganza. Beyond its chart-topping success, 'Vogue' brought the Harlem ball scene and voguing culture into the mainstream, highlighting the creativity of marginalized African American and Latinx communities. While some critique Madonna for cultural appropriation, her efforts also promoted AIDS awareness and provided visibility for queer culture. Decades later, 'Vogue' endures as an anthem of self-expression and escapism, reflecting both the progress and ongoing struggles of the LGBTQ+ community.

Review: This release sees David A Tobin exploring the multifaceted nature of love, delivering a soulful house cut that's both uplifting and introspective. 'Fallin' In Love' is a journey through the complex emotions of romance, with warm chords and a driving bassline creating an irresistible groove. Tobin's emotive vocals capture the vulnerability and excitement of falling head over heels, while the track's soulful melodies and uplifting energy create a sense of hopeful optimism. The B-side, 'Turnin' Me On', takes a slightly different approach, with a more playful and seductive vibe. The track's infectious groove and seductive vocals are sure to get bodies moving, while its soulful undertones maintain the overall sense of heartfelt emotion. Together, these two tracks showcase Tobin's versatility as a producer and vocalist, delivering a well-rounded listening experience that will appeal to house heads and soulful music lovers alike.

Review: Sedsoul welcome back one of their mainstays, David A Tobin, with a fresh new tune, emblematic of a soul supremo reared in the gospel tradition. Tobin's nominal credits stretch as far back as the early 1990s, when he operated as a house music vocalist working under the stage name Phoenix, but his more recent efforts under his own name have seen him steer in a determined soul direction, post-2010. 'Fallin' In Love' is an amorous cascade and an homage to sea-changes, with the titular "falling in love" coming backed by refrained urges to "turn your life around".

Review: The 40th Anniversary Edition of this holiday classic offers a delightful blend of nostalgia and fresh takes. The original version remains as timeless as ever, with its catchy melody and bittersweet lyrics that perfectly capture the essence of love and heartbreak. The 'Pudding Mix' offers a playful, slightly altered version, adding a new layer of festive charm while still staying true to the original's spirit. A live rendition from Wembley Arena in 2006 brings a burst of energy, with the crowd's enthusiasm amplifying the track's warmth and excitement. For those who appreciate the finer details, the instrumental version removes the vocals, allowing the lush synths and intricate production to shine. This holiday classic never gets old. With these different versions, you can enjoy the song in many new exciting ways.

Review: Fronted by Dane-dame Sannie Carlson, Whigfield was backed by various producers and engineers over the years, main among whom was the towering Larry Pignagnoli. *The* song to commemorate Whigfield by, 'Saturday Night' is a Europop and Eurodance trailblazer, harking back, perhaps, to a more glamorous time, where fashion designers rubbed shoulders with models, PR girls and riviera DJs for Italian and Danish upper crusts. Carlson would record 'Saturday Night' after meeting fellow DJ Davide Riva, who was also part of a music production duo. In three days, an (in your mind-) sticky, bubblegum-popping opus would be written, with a nursery-rhyming refrain and a jaunty na-na-na hook epitomising the notion of a "hair-dryer song", a term coined by Simon Cowell in reference to the song as a precursor to Rebecca Black's 'Friday': "the kind of song girls sing into their hair dryers before getting ready to go out."

This ambitious project shows her growth as both a songwriter and vocalist and adds in already assured fan favourites like 'That's So True' and 'I Love You, I'm Sorry (Live From Vevo).' A nuanced pop album with plenty to explore.

The British group's self-titled debut album was cooler and smarter than many of their candied peers (Spice Girls, we're looking at you) and blended effortlessly soulful vocals with rich, atmospheric production. From start to finish, the album lays down emotionally charged and honest lyrics. The production is lush yet minimal, allowing the powerful vocals to take centre stage, with classics like 'Never Ever', 'I Know Where It's At' and 'Lady Marmalade ('98 remix)' all still oozing a nice new soul and r&b edge.

Ten Crowns (CD 2: Dave Audé continuous DJ mix)
Review: While he's released countless albums as one half of Erasure, Andy Bell solo excursions are something of a rarity - at least under his given name. Setting aside his conceptual 'Torsten' albums, Ten Crowns is his first solo album since 2010. Produced by Dave Auden (who also provides a seamless, DJ mix style version of the set on disc two), it largely delivers a more muscular, EDM-influenced take on the sparkling and energy-packed synth-pop sound he's famed for making with Erasure. There are naturally deviations from the script - see the indie-rock-framed singalong alongside Debbie Harry, 'Heart's A Liar' - but for the most part the highlights are rooted in Bell's love of dance-pop/synth-pop fusion (see 'Don't Cha Know' and 'Breaking Through The Interstellar').

Review: Chappell Roan's debut The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is a vibrant, eclectic pop album blending feminist themes, queerness, and playful energy. Opening with the feminist anthem 'Femininomenon', Roan combines humor and country-pop with industrial disco, setting a bold tone. Viral hit 'Red Wine Supernova' channels early 2000s pop-rock, with carefree storytelling and catchy beats, while 'After Midnight' dives into club-ready, Katy Perry-style disco pop. The introspective 'Coffee' slows the pace with somber piano, showing Roan's emotional depth, while 'Casual" is equally as impactful. One of the highlight's is 'Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl' which brings an 80s synth-pop flair, recalling Madonna and Cyndi Lauper. Brimming with vibrant energy. Roan's personality and wide-ranging influences shine throughout, making her a pop standout.

Review: Charli XCX's sixth studio album, Brat, marks a triumphant return to her experimental roots following 2022's Crash. Steeped in the aesthetic of the 2000s London rave scene, this album is a highly personal and intriguing nostalgia trip. The intricate beats, polished production, and confrontational lyrics evoke the underground decadence of the Myspace era. Charli and her collaborators craft each track with a rich sense of atmosphere, transporting listeners to a vividly recalled past. The opening track, '360,' sets the tone with Charli declaring herself "666 with a princess streak." The throwback rave anthem 'Club Classics' and the retroclash headtrip 'Von Dutch' show her at the top of her game, maintaining her status as a significant pop experimentalist. The sleek standouts 'Sympathy is a Knife' and 'Girl, So Confusing' tackle contemporary conflicts. Beneath Brat's deceptive veneer lies a melancholic sense of anxiety. 'I Might Say Something Stupid' reveals Charli's existential desperation, while 'So I' serves as a poignant eulogy to Sophie, highlighting her emotional depth. The introspective 'I Think About It All the Time' finds Charli at her most confessional, pondering motherhood and the fleeting nature of success. Brat is a crucial step in Charli XCX's artistic evolution, blending mainstream pop with her experimental roots. Her themes of celebrity, growth, obsession and creative liberation are articulated with biting wit and innovative vision.

Review: Coldplay's Moon Music is a typically lush and atmospheric pop-rock journey that makes another step in the band's continued evolution. Blending their famous anthemic sound with some more celestial and experimental elements, the album feels both expansive and intimate. Songs like 'Light Through the Veil' and 'Celestial Echoes' offer reflective ambient tones, while tracks like 'Lunar Phases' carry uplifting cosmic energy. The band's seamless incorporation of electronic elements and orchestral flourishes gives Moon Music a dreamlike quality with Chris Martin's vocals guiding listeners through themes of love, unity and transcendence. This album is a refreshing work for those who are into such sounds and it confirms Coldplay are still pushing creative boundaries.

It's a diverse yet cohesive collection of songs that work well as a listening whole from front to back, and they all live up to the album name as they deliver both hard and soft hits lyrically and sonically while bending genres and defying trends at the same time. Review: Margo Guryan's solo album, Take A Picture, originally released in 1968, has attained cult status for its enchanting blend of honeyed vocals and sophisticated songwriting. Known for her influence on soft-pop and dream-pop genres, Guryan's album features the iconic track 'Sunday Morning,' later covered by Bobbie Gentry and Glen Campbell. This reissue, now available on vinyl, features Guryan's jazz background shining through in her meticulous compositions, which have been praised for their funky sunshine arrangements and lush melodies. As a renowned songwriter, her works have been performed by artists ranging from Astrud Gilberto to Harry Belafonte. Take A Picture stands as a bridge between Burt Bacharach's sophistication and the indie pop stylings of Belle & Sebastian, influencing artists like the Wondermints and even inspiring Diablo Cody during the creation of Juno. Despite critical acclaim, Guryan preferred the role of songwriter over performer, reflecting her dedication to musical craft and independence from the spotlight.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails have been called into help with the production, as well as some film score composers, on the fourth album by Halsey. The American singer-songwriter and general artistic polymath deals in powerful, emotive pop with driving guitar riffs and big walls of scuzzy sound. They are always evolving and innovating within that framework and this record comes on the heels of their US Billboard No.1 LP 'Manic'. Away from music, Halsey recently introduced a multi-dimensional makeup line for made for everyone and uses her voice to speak up for disenfranchised youth, women's rights, mental health and the LGBTQ community.

Review: Los Angeles-based alt-synthpop duo Magdalena Bay are by far the best in their lane right now - something they already established with their highly popular debut album Mercurial World back in 2021, with 'Chaeri' and 'You Lose!' striking a serious chord with fans of Charli XCX, Grimes and similar alt/electro-pop darlings. Paired with striking so-bad-it's-good visuals rife with overt effects and editing, it's really the combination of Mica Tenenbaum's distinctive, ethereal vocal performance and Matthew Lewin's textural and multilayered production you will stay for.
Imaginal Disc, sharing its name with structures in insect larvae that develop into adult forms later on in life, is a tale of discovering the essence of humanity after the protagonist's body rejects a CD that aliens attempted to implant in them. The album sees Lewin firing on all cylinders, the duo honing so closely on their specific sound that it's incomparable to anything else. Lead single 'Image' is a marvel, danceable in all the right places, moody and chord-striking when it needs to be. Magdalena Bay are cementing themselves as a must-know name in the 2020s.

Review: Kylie Minogue returns to her electropop roots with her latest album, Tension. Following her detours into country with 2018's Golden and disco with 2020's Disco, Kylie delivers an album brimming with energetic beats and catchy melodies. The standout single, 'Padam Padam,' has been a viral hit, securing her a spot in the UK Top 10 for the first time in a decade. Tension features 11 tracks, each infused with Kylie's signature blend of playful and sultry vibes. The title track is a vibrant mix of 90s house riffs and vocoder effects, while 'Vegas High' and 'Hold On to Now' shows her ability to turn introspection into dancefloor anthems. Despite slight diversions into funk and disco with tracks like 'Both Hands' and 'Green Light,' the album maintains its exhilarating pace. Closing with the introspective yet uplifting 'Story,' Kylie reassures her fans with a glittering chorus and heartfelt lyrics. Tension is quintessential Kylie, offering an escape filled with shimmering choruses and emotionally rich melodies, proving her enduring charm and relevance in the pop landscape.

Review: Porter Robinson's Smile! is a lively exploration of maximalist pop, filled with energetic beats and catchy melodies. The album opens with the high-energy duo 'Knock Yourself Out XD' and 'Cheerleader,' both are uplifting synths and powerful choruses that are sure to light up live performances. While Smile! dives into themes of fame with a playful, tongue-in-cheek approach, it's clear that Robinson is having fun with this new direction.Tracks like 'Kitsune Maison Freestyle' stand out with their irresistible, bouncy rhythms, and 'Mona Lisa' delivers a breezy, laid-back vibe. 'Russian Roulette' shines with a stunning chorus that lingers long after the song ends. While the album's irony might feel a bit heavy-handed at times, there's an undeniable charm in the way Robinson blends humor with heartfelt moments. There are quieter tracks that offer a nice contrast as well. Smile! is an exciting departure from Robinson's previous work and it's an entertaining ride that's worth a listen for its infectious energy and spirit.

Review: Taylor Swift's latest double album delivers an expansive collection of 35 tracks, showcasing her signature storytelling and emotional depth while exploring fresh sonic territory. Featuring collaborations with Post Malone and Florence & The Machine, the album blends introspective ballads with vibrant anthems that highlight Swift's versatility. The record sets a reflective tone, delving into themes of loss, anger and resilience. Tracks like 'So Long London' provide a poignant narrative closure, paralleling earlier songs from her discography while embracing the bittersweetness of moving forward. 'I Can Do It With A Broken Heart' captures the juxtaposition of public strength and private vulnerability with upbeat production reminiscent of Midnights. Collaborations shine throughout; 'Fortnight' finds Swift and Post Malone harmonising beautifully over a wistful melody, while the lively 'Florida!!!' bursts with summer energy, enhanced by Florence Welch's dynamic vocals. The stripped-down 'I Look In People's Windows' emerges as a standout, pairing raw lyricism with delicate guitar work to convey profound grief and longing. The project is a testament to Swift's ability to blend personal reflection with universal themes. With its balance of experimentation and emotional candor, it marks a bold chapter in her ever-evolving career.

Review: The Thompson Twins' iconic 1984 album Into the Gap is getting a fresh, deluxe reissue from BMG this fall. Remastered by Frank Arkwright, this special triple-disc collection includes the original album, which features hits like 'Hold Me Now', 'Doctor! Doctor!' and 'You Take Me Up', plus 30 additional tracks. These extras include B-sides, single edits debuting on CD and unreleased remixes by Pete Hammond of PWL fame. Into the Gap marked a pivotal moment for the Thompson Twins, as they transitioned to a trio after reducing their lineup. Working with producer Alex Sadkin at Compass Point Studios in The Bahamas, the band embraced synthesisers and electronic instruments, moving away from traditional rock sounds. This bold, experimental approach resulted in a new sonic identity. The reissue's accompanying booklet includes rare photos and insights from the band members themselves: Tom Bailey, Alannah Currie, and Joe Leeway. Overall, a terrific edition to honour the 40th anniversary of the album.

Visage
Review: Icons of the New Romantic movement and synth pop pioneers Visage were a phenomenal live act right up until their untimely demise. Lead singer Steve Strange sadly passed away in 2015. An organisation known as The Steve Strange Collective was announced shortly after his death and are touchingly releasing this album in his honour. 2013 was the year Visage toured their first album in 28 years - Hearts and Knives - and this compilation features the best recordings from their 13-date tour. Even though they had a lot of line-up changes over the years, their iconic reputation meant they could piece together a terrific band. With Robin Simon of Ultravox on guitar, Logan Sky on synth and Barney Johnny Marter on drums, vocalists Steve Strange and Lauren Duvall's had the ultimate backing for a party vibe full of swagger and style. And it still sounds cutting-edge to this day.

Review: Vanessa Williams' Survivor marks her return to music after a 15-year break, where she focused on acting and other ventures. In this album, Williams seamlessly blends the many facets of her career, from pop and r&b to jazz and theatre. The lead single, 'Legs (Keep Dancing)', is a bold, confident dance track that reflects her enduring energy, while the house-pop track 'Bop!' entertains her fanbase with cheeky humor and vibrant beats. The album's range includes pop standards like 'Junk Man' and the jazzy 'Zaz Zuh Zaz,' where Williams showcases her sultry, polished vocals. Her love for classic music shines, especially on 'Come Dance with Me' and 'Being Good Isn't Good Enough', where she brings an elegant, theatrical touch. With thoughtful production, Survivor revisits Vanessa Williams' signature sound while incorporating fresh elements. Despite its familiar themes, the title track carries a personal resonance, illustrating her journey and resilience. Williams' versatility and her ability to evolve while staying true to her roots, proving that she's still a commanding presence in music. This comeback reaffirms her as a talented performer across multiple genres.
