'Piropo/Son Del Barrio' marks Tony & The Kings' debut single on Tiki Tumbao Records, one of just a few Latin, funk and boogaloo record labels operative today in Miami, Florida. 'Piropo' is a playful Latin soul and boogaloo song, which hears Tony emphasise his love for his girlfriend. The B, 'Son Del Barrio', is a Latin psych-funk keeper, tying up loose ends with its driving horns and relatively steady beat. Both deliver stop-starting pizzazz and well-kept funk, serving as a reminder that listeners need always check both sides of the record.
