Review: All Day I Steal This Album is Rico Friebe's a long-shelved, surreal deep house work. Finalised in summer 2021, the project took an unexpected turn after the German producer dreamt of a woman's face in monochrome, unfamiliar and striking. Two months later, he met her in real life. After sharing with her the unreleased music, she became the record's sole listener before mysteriously vanishing, a personal tragedy befalling her soon after. The experience prompted Friebe to shelve the album and instead release Jenni, a raw tribute that raised awareness of violence against women; then following his own assault and hearing loss, and amid ongoing harassment of his artistic work in 2024, Friebe chose to reclaim the narrative. Now retitled All Day I Steal This Album, the release takes retroactive hold as an act of artistic defiance and personal (dis)closure.
