A Million Machines - "Synthetic Eyes" (4:46)
Scannoir Project - "Loss Hellwyl" (7:03)
Vox Low - "Galactic Pot Healer" (8:15)
Stellar Tribe - "Infinite Space" (6:30)
Review: The Oraculo imprint simply cannot stop releasing the heat, even when the waves are as cold and tenebrous as this new collaborative EP! A Million Machines roll out the vintage sounding "Synthetic Eyes", a pure synth journey at its most romantic, while Scannoir Project's "Loss Hellwyl" tears the groove apart by replacing the vocals with all sorts of complex sonic structures from outer space. On the flipside, Vox Low's "Galactic Pot Healer" has more in common with downtempo and trip-hop than it does with EBM, and "Infinite Space" from Stellar Tribe delivers a deep, wondrous journey into the farthest reaches of the stratosphere. Intergalactic vibes.

Agonis - "Black Swans" (5:02)
Konduku - "Liquidity" (6:24)
Lemont - "Cascading Mistakes" (6:49)
Varuna - "Speculative Communities" (6:24)
Review: Basel-based experimental labels Amenthia Recordings and A Walking Contradiction join forces for their first collaborative release here in the form of the Flash Crash/Hack Crash EP. Both labels are known for pushing boundaries within their close-knit creative circles and this one features Agonis' heavy stepper and Konduku's whirlpool of low frequencies on the Amenthia side, while Lemont continues the low-end, tripped-out vibe. Varuna represents A Walking Contradiction and delivers swampy, slow-motion sounds in their signature style. This release embodies both labels' commitment to daring, unconventional electronic sounds.

Review: Details Sound is a record label curated and run by Giuseppe Magistro and Matteo Fabbri, that has brought us releases by the likes of Olfactory Nerve, Luca Garino and Klankman. Their latest is this fantastic four track various artist compilation titled The Spirit Of The Age Vol.1. It features Anatolian Weapons with the the steely slow burning aggression of 'A Series Of Changes', label staple A Hand serving up some celestial and contemplative IDM on 'Mode4rn Cage', Gamma Intel's restrained fury as heard on the body bashing bass of 'Note To My Love' and the real stars of the show here - Vactrol Park. The London-based duo giving their very best on the B side with the immersive analogue ritual rites of 'Dense & Ragged'.

Unhuman & Vulkanski - "Mescaline Network" (6:05)
Review: Khidi rolls out another anniversary EP here and it is another various artists affair that takes no prisoners. On their opener, Ancient Methods & OTHR bring some hellish metal and industrial overtones to the stomping, vicious 'Vast Vanishing' with its horror-core vocals. Roman & Boyd Chidt don't let up but offer a more linear and streamlined bit of stomping techno pressure. Silent Servant unleashes lashings of metallic synths over his signature tech sounds and then the floating loops of Unhuman & Vulkanski suspend you just above a rusty old factory floor.

ASC - "The Noncolour Entity"
Vaccine - "Irradiate"
Sam KDC - "Lovesick"
ASC & Synth Sense - "Glimpse"
Review: Limited to a pressing of just 250 (with a promise of no represses) this clear vinyl release is special in every sense. Powered by some of the most exciting names on the fringes of bass and electronica; each of the four cuts strut with raw melodic futurism. "The Noncolour Entity" rumbles with a dubby techno groove a la Funk D'Void. "Irradiate" comes with an almost Bonobo-like dreaminess while "Lovesick" shakes and shudders with a sub-soaked groove and bright, bold swinging breakbeats. "Glimpse" closes the show on a timeless analogue note. Coming on strong like an old Guy Called Gerald record, it's all synths and classic electro breakbeats. Outstanding.

Binary Digit - "Ob_Break" (4:07)
Victor Ziegler - "Dashington WC" (4:06)
Victor Ziegler - "Nostalgic Aerobic" (5:24)
Review: Grenoble's Binary Digit (Dream Ticket/Opal Tapes) appears on a split EP here with Belgian debutant Victor Ziegler, to inaugurate new imprint Postal Code Records on From Berriat To Pitteurs (PCR001). On the A side, Binary Digit is in fine form on the wacky acid-jungle hybrid of '4020 Pitteurs FM' followed by the lo-fi chiptune electro of 'Ob_Break'. On the flip, Ziegler takes the rolling breakbeats of the '90s UK underground and merges them with the aesthetic of dreamy electronica of the time - namely on Warp or Rephlex - with the glassy-eyed and bittersweet epic 'Nostalgic Aerobic' which was easily the standout tune on this stellar EP. Keep your eye on Postal Code Records in 2021.

Bizzarro Universe - "Acid Sunday" (5:53)
Gumm - "Dance Of Fortune" (6:36)
Venice Arms - "Cuore Nero" (6:27)
C/TRO - "Allora" (6:18)
Review: Bordello a Parigi cordially invites us to enjoy a 'Buone Vacanze' ('happy holiday') in the first of a new series of multi-artist EPs packed full of sparkling, synth-heavy club cuts inspired by European electro-disco of the 1980s. Bizarro Universe steps up first with the thrusting sequenced bass, chiming melodies and bustling drum machine hits of revivalist Italo-disco number 'Acid Sunday', before GUMM opts for darker, sleazier, sequenced bass, bleeps reminiscent of the Flirts' 'Passion' and excitement-building breakdowns on 'Dance of Fortune'. Venice Arms doff a cap to both freestyle and the glossier end of dancefloor synth-pop on 'Cuore Nero', while 'Allore' by C/TRO is a more atmospheric, locked-in and pulsating slab of Bobby Orlando revivalism.

Review: Finnish underground icon Sasu Ripatti returns under his most frequently used pseudonym, Vladislav Delay, for another bout of Dancefloor Classics. The series has already established a loyal following, and the fourth episode is enough to explain why, even if you've not encountered any of the preceding instalments. Music for imagined dancefloors is how the official release information puts it, it quickly becomes clear just how vivid that imagination is. Throwing down a string of footwork inspired cuts, the four tracks here are frantically upbeat and packed with filthy, jacking potential. But they're also deep, at times ghostly - or at least a little eerie - and ground in a desire not just to make people move, but also push sounds forward into new territories. Never an easy line to tread, the overall results hit as hard as the beats themselves.

Compilation Series Now 4
Cat: US-011. Rel: 14 Jul 06
Dusdatikaf - "Slemper"
Kaudyoe - "Lambent"
Verwirrung - "3Tronik"
International - "Fibla"
Review: The fourth and final release in the "Now" compilation series by Underscan Records delivers tracks by Slemper, Lambent, 3tronik and Fibla. The variety of styles defines what Underscan is all about. A mixture of contemporary electronica from abstract hip hop to dance oriented electro experiments. The complete series with all tracks from the four 12" records will be available on CD in Autumn of 2006 as a follow up to this release. Slemper kicks off the record with a stunning electroesque-track named "Dusdatikaf". Pounding beats and beautifully composed melodies warp around to make this track a club compatible DJ tool as well as a perfect home listening adventure. Slemper is Maarten Meussen from Den Haag (Netherlands) who just released his debut album "Mismatch" on the Belgian imprint Aecletrick with which he gave an outstanding example of today's freshness in electronic music. Lambent focuses with his track "Kaudyoe" into the abstract hip hop realms of electronica and creates a cinematic mood by the use of shifting tempos and found samples. Lambent is Akira Inagawa from Japan who is now based in Berlin. His works have been released on labels like Expanding, Jetlag or Alianation and his next album will be made available thru prestigious City Centre Offices later on this year. 3tronik is Fabien Florin from France. His track "Verwirrung" has already gained lots of interest by music fans all over the world as the result of being already released by various net-labels like Sutemos. Now finally and for the first time "Verwirrung" is available on quality 12" vinyl for all collectors out there. Fibla is well known in the world of today's electronica. With his own imprint spa.RK he offers records that are "Intended for emotional audiences". He has also had many releases on such labels as Sub Rosa, Quartermass, Benbecula, Worm Interface & Expanding. His contribution to Now 04 titled "International" thus is a very emotional release perfectly set into warm organic.

Umberto - "The American Dream Plague" (5:02)
Alessandro Parisi - "Calamitas Calamitatum" (4:57)
Vercetti Technicolor - "Athens 430BC" (5:14)
Review: The first release from Minimal Rome in some time sees label boss Valerio Lombardozzi curate a mini album of dramatically charged power electronics themed around "the silence and the noises of the plague". Lombardozzi naturally features under his Heinrich Dressel alias, and is complemented by solo contributions from Giallo Disco founders Antoni Maiovvi and Vercetti Technicolour along with Alessandro Parisi and Umberto. Fans of cinematic synth heavy soundscapes are probably licking their lips right now, and the five tracks do not disappoint. Dressel's opening "La Peste" is almost yearning in its widescreen deployment of synths, whilst "Spitalfields 1665" from Maiovvi is a more forceful arrangement. Not Not Fun regular Umberto is a more stripped back, restrained mood with "The American Dream Plague" whilst Parisi's "Calamitas Calamitatum" is full on Giallo dancefloor horror and perhaps our favourite here!

Review:  Immix Ensemble is led by Australian experimental saxophonist Daniel Thorne (now based in Liverpool) working in collaboration with now renown Bristolian experimental bass merchant Vessel on this collaborative release. Between their two very different musical practices they somehow find an interesting balance. According to Erased Tapes, the release "features one or two instruments, and, thematically, explores a significant invention or discovery that took place at around the same time as the invention and development of these instruments". We particularly enjoyed the way Thorne commandeered the ensemble on first track "What Hath God Wrought" and "Battle Cry" which features some contemplative yet dramatic and restrained passages, all with Vessel's seething electronics beneath.

Vera Logdanini - "Vplanet" (6:53)
Review: Following fine EPs from Healing Force Project and Mesak in 2017 and 2018, On Board Music flips the script on its first and only vinyl release of 2019. "Point A" is the Berlin-based label's first mini-compilation and it's well worth a listen. Lanoche kicks things off via a spot of ultra-deep dub techno/ambient techno fusion (the wonderful "Love Fall", before Yugen doffs a cap towards the hypnotic, synthesizer-driven sound of late 1970s Krautrock on the suitably cosmic "Phantom". Serena Butler's "Fertile Fancy" is an immersive drift through enveloping ambient, Estrato Aurora's "Icnita" a bubbling deep techno epic and Vera Logdanini's "Vplanet" an acid-flecked trip into locked-in electronic hypnotism. In other words, this is a very fine collection of cuts.

Each of the four producers here - Giegling regulars Vril, Prince Of Denmark and Leafar Legov along with debutant Herr Koreander - grew up in Hannover and this 12" offers them a chance to portray their individual memories through the medium of music. Legov and Koreander commence and end the release in experimental fashion and sandwiched in-between is some of Giegling's most eminently danceable output yet from Vril and Prince Of Denmark.

It starts right here as legendary innovative composer Gigi Masin opens with the lilting, delicate "Maja", Vakula brings us down from the clouds and back to the future with the body-jacking ghetto bump of "Robot Fuck The System" while Flugel blows the finale horn with the swampy Amazonian harmonic trip-out "Mice On Stick". Review: Since launching six years ago, Bristol radio station Noods has become something of an online institution, with pleasingly experimental-minded shows from local music heads being joined by essential guest shows from up-and-coming DJs and producers from around the world. Earlier this year they finally launched their own label, which aims to showcase new talent, and here deliver a superb mini-album that was initially intended to drop on the station's fifth birthday. There's much to enjoy, from the murky, dub-wise percussion-fest that is Ossia's 'Drum Tangle' and the break-neck, post-jungle insanity of 'Static Whip' by Katatonic Silencio, to the psychedelic ambience of Ployer Fower's 'Aguries of Innocence' and the gently melodious, sub-heavy shuffle of Cleyra's 'Twined'.

Review: Sweden's pleasingly experimental iDEAL Recordings launched the iDEALISM series of multi-artist EPs back in 2015. This second volume has been long promised, though it's arguably been worth the wait. It features a quartet of dark, moody and intense tracks that effortlessly combine elements of experimental noise, industrial music, and left-of-centre techno. Alexandra Atnif provides the EP's most harrowing moment, an intense, pitch-black onslaught entitled "Last Stand of Reason". If that could be described as "fiendishly unsettling", we'd argue that Varg's trippy "Run No More Parts I & II" is an altogether more psychedelic proposition - even if it is a little on the uncomfortable side. If you're after something a little more becalmed, check out the gently unfurling drone textures of Copley Medal's epic "Ger Lopic".

While that EP contained a couple of much-played tech-house rollers, this latest two-tracker explores different influences. A-side "Monument" is particularly alluring, thanks largely to rising and falling synthesizer arpeggio lines, momentum-shifting percussion, foreboding electronics and a spine-tingling vocal from Vaal. Flipside "The Hangar" is an altogether more forthright affair. Underpinned by a relentless kick-drum pattern, it's a moody, angular and mind-altering concoction that looks towards industrial techno for inspiration.

Review: Three years after making her debut on Sounds of Beaubien West with the deep and dreamy Agua Congas EP, Paula Tape returns with her first vinyl outing since. This time round she's in collaboration with Italo-disco/Italo-house revivalist - and Alzaya Records co-founder - Volantis. 'Octava Dimension' is pleasingly thrusting and druggy affair, with the Chilean's breathy vocals and an ear-catching lead line working in perfect unison with a tough, Italo-disco style bassline and jacking machine drums. Over on the flip, Elias Mazian re-imagines the track as a tactile, early '90s deep house treat, while Tornado Wallace lays down an even deeper, dreamier revision built around a lovely bassline, heady stabs and off-kilter, post-electro beats.

Review: The second of two 12" singles this week from Darkestral Recordings sees Instra:mental's Al Green further explore his new Transportation AAD alias, a collaboration with Darkestral label head Drkstr. In "Pagoda", the pair compose a particularly atmospheric interlude which utilises Eastern tones and booming drums to create a soundscape worthy of a noir tinged sci-fi movie. The single also features more contributions from Green under another new guise, Grey Goo. Less obviously dancefloor focused, the cavernous sonics and brooding atmospherics of "Lost Transmissions" recalls the introspective dub experimentation of Blackest Ever Black's Raime, while "See Me" fuses this aesthetic to some drawn out chords and sharply programmed 808 drums. The final contribution comes from the mysterious Vaalhaala, who employs a pulsing arpeggio which sounds like it has come from a far off satellite transmission, with sounds that threaten to explode at any moment. Sounding like nothing else this year, this EP is a perfect hybrid of futuristic bass and bleak moods, and will be essential for anyone interested in where the genre can go next.

Review: It's been three long years since Vaal's last 12", a collaboration with Italian tech-house types Tale of Us. "Wander To Hell" is an intriguing proposition. For starters, it's a song, with bittersweet vocals stretching out over sustained chords, woozy melodies, bubbly electronics and a tactile, soft touch groove. It's undeniably atmospheric, and arguably suitable for club plays despite its home listening roots. The accompanying remixes drag it further towards dancefloor territory. The Locked Groove Mix is darker, woozier and altogether more metronomic, while the Baikal Remix reinvents the original as a paranoid chunk of thrusting, late night techno.

The music contained within emerges in many different shades, from the emotional grind of "4th Hope" to the industrial blasts of "8th Hope", not to mention the dissected hardcore breaks and searching melodics of "10th Hope". Review: Despite suffering some significant losses in terms of infrastructure, specifically venues, the electronic music output of Glasgow hasn't faltered since rave first hit, and the city's current crop aren't letting the side down. Not that newcomers should really see 12th Isle as fresh faced; the ambient-downtempo-deep tech hypnosis crew have been doing all that and more for time already, with this 12" a fitting return to the release schedule. In the most part it's a tripped out, spatial and exotic EP. For proof, just check the solitary low ends of 'Mais Qu'est Ce Que', shuffling and breathy percussive roll on 'Spade Birthday', and the lush tropical vibes of 'La Plage Sous Les Arbres'. But there's also evidence of the more direct side this imprint and associated events are known for when you hear the progressive house heaven of 'Deep In Blue', a track that belies genre stereotypes by sounding fresh enough to drop into anything.

"Tipping Point" is downright disfigured by the incorrigible AnD duo - not once but twice: the first remix offers a cascade of fuzzy, distorted kicks and incessant drone loops, while the second removes all traces of a beat and delves deep into the cogs of the machines. On the flip, "Blood On The Controls" is rewired twice by Whirling House of Knives. The first is a chest-bursting monster from the depths of the drum machines, while the second is a slice sparse and experimental neo-funk with an otherworldly succession of popping kicks and crystal-like background atmospherics. TIP!

Review: The second release from No Comment, the mysterious Dutch techno imprint with a penchant for number-heavy track titles, and once again the equally mysterious Albert Van Abbe is at the helm. The menacing rhythmic throb of "NCS 0009121010" is complemented by some increasingly abrasive hats and needle sharp percussion - the way the track progresses and undulates before running its course is a joy to behold! The Heinrich Mueller remodel on the flip has a much less subtle affect; it carries a menacing swagger to the beat which bounds along beneath the highly strung synth work. This shares a side of wax with the ambient bliss of "P4S 1000291010". Essential business pressed up on stush marble vinyl.

Review: Van Boom shows a talent for blending dark, atmospheric tones with experimental soundscapes here while working with artists like whiterose, Safety Trance and Evita Manji on an album that explores themes of emotional vulnerability and transformation. The opening track 'Nuborne' sets the tone with its haunting, immersive sound, followed by 'Untethered' with the ethereal vocals of whiterose. 'Polished Wounds' and 'Object Mapping' delve deeper into intricate textures and layered compositions. It sounds great and looks good too on limited edition smokey clear vinyl.

Let Go (4:42)
Some Things Last A Long Time (6:13)
Review: It's not easy to work out which you should focus more on here. Sharon Van Etten's 'Let Go' is a triumph of gradually building and developing indie rock, existing as it does somewhere between the late-1960s and today. Her cover of 'Some Things Last A Long Time' , originally recorded by the legendary Daniel Johnston, is also a real triumph. Anyone who can make his work sound like their own deserves some serious props.

But then the film itself, Feels Good Man, needs a reference too, as it's among the most important documentaries of recent years. Charting the rise and re-appropriation by the alt-right of the Pepe the Frog meme, it paints a chilling picture of the cartoonish nightmare dystopian novelists could barely predict, which we have walked into, led like children to the sacrificial altar of Coca-Cola or some other multinational brand. Take that description, imagine the songs that depict it, and you should end up here.

Review: Having previously appeared on Nyame and Something Happening, Somewhere, Amsterdam-based producer Vand now brings his delicate, dubby take on techno to Alpengluhen. Nodding to the atmospheric moods of Claro Intelecto and the like, he draws you in with the icy refrains of "Altarf-unn" before upping the emotion with the heart-wrenching pads of "Concord". "Kodama" has a more pronounced impact which is tempered by liberal delay and reverb, and "Paraztul" keeps things spacious and fractured for a more electronica-tinged trip outside the 4/4 slipstream.

Review: New York based Shawn O'Sullivan returns with some more Vapauteen heat on LIES!! O'Sullivan is a man of many aliases; as well as exploring new wave sounds as part of Led Er Est and Further Reductions, he has been gaining plaudits for his solo productions under his own name on The Corner, as 400PPM for Avian, and as Vapauteen. Under the latter, O'Sullivan provided one of the most coveted L.I.E.S. white label releases at the beginning of 2012, exploring the industrial techno heritage that has clearly inspired his solo work. Back on LIES with this self titled six track collection, the current Vapauteen manifestation differs from the consistently frenetic pace of his debut for Morelli's label - the A-side sees him engage with slower tempos across three tracks that call to mind Skudge duo Fishermen, while the B-side is "strictly about power electronics and harsh tone work outs".

Myriad different mods, grooves and tempos are on offer here starting with the puling rhythmic depths of Vardae's 'Pahlevan' then moving on to Kick21's 'Bright Interface', a dark and haunting low-end wobbler. Atavic's 'Subconscious' is a heady one with ambient cosmic pads over deeply hurried, supple rhythms then while Tammo Hesselink & DYL combine to mesmeric effect on the carefully curated broken beat brilliance of 'Accent Award.' A forward-thinking EP for sure.

Review: Acid Waxa drew plenty of positive heat for carrying Roy Of The Ravers amongst many other respected braindancers, but now Hot Chip drummer Sarah Jones is getting the remix treatment on the label for her Pillow Person project, with some wild results. It's great to see Bogdan Raczynski back in action and bringing some gently wonked, emotional acid meanderings to "On Your Way", while Lechuga Zafiro makes an art out of aping footwork, and more specifically "Footcrab" while making it sound like someone just stubbed their toe and got stuck in a loop. IYDES however turns "In My Game" into a deconstructed but utterly bloated pop beast, and then Oliver Coates whips "Go Ahead" into a woozy, highly strung daze with billowing synths underneath Jones' vocal.

Review: After years spent supporting the underground IDM scene digitally, Glasgow label Ambidextrous makes the leap to vinyl with this killer compilation of ear-catching deep techno and electronica. Christ brings a bubbling range of synth tones to "Rom" before Norken and Nyquist drop some brooding electro tones over rolling beats on"Od Detot". Solipsism has a more sassy house sound to impart, while Nyquist goes into full electro mode on his own. On the flip, Analogue Audio Association have some edgy acid to throw down, Cyan341 brings a touch of boogie flex to the record and Mich Chillage rounds the record off with emotive outboard electronics of a reflective nature.

Review: A new Vatican Shadow release is always greeted with near adoration here at Juno Towers. Dominick Fernow's shadiest guise is still his best work, and this is especially true when his has 2 slabs of vinyl with which to express his ideas. As you can imagine, Luxor Necropolitics is a lingering, tenebrous cloud of industrial electronics and contained power noise. The moments that do transform into techno are still made up of the same rough materials that characterise all Vatican Shadow track, and that is a pale, unforgiving glow of sounds that never seem to get repetitive. Class.

Vatican Shadow - "Bunkerterror" (7:10)
Ancient Methods - "Bunkerterror" (5:37)
Review: A gnarly double header up next on Dominick Fernow's notorious Hospital Productions, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. He dons the reverb Vatican Shadow moniker for his take on "Bunkerterror" a blistering example of 'war techno' if we've ever heard it. This steely and pitch black epic reachers near tribal moments with spitfire military rhythm arrangements. On the flip, Ancient Methods provides his take on the track and other than the occasional metal strikes, his version is less industrial and more hypnotic style techno with its grumbling monosynth bass and heads down/strobe-lit feel throughout. These two cuts were said to be inspired by their occasional back-to-back live and-DJ sets, with Fernow providing the "New York" side (naturally) and Michael Wollenhaupt (Ancient Methods) obviously turning in the "Berlin" side. Dangerous gear right here, handle with extreme caution!

Review: Suicide's Alan Vega was a truly visceral artist. Time and again he gave us mutated, spliced tracks, screwing mechanical futurism into familiarly human sounds to create hybrid noises that weren't born of our time, and instead sound like things that came before us, while also conjuring images of futures yet to arrive.

Invasion/Murder One follows in a similar vein, and lands in the wake of last year's Mutator. Again, this is Vega solo and plucked from the infamous archives of his previously unreleased and largely unheard stockpile of weird and wonderful music. The two tracks were both recorded in New York but decades apart, the most recent as part of a group of tracks that were laid down prior to sessions beginning for his 1999 album, 2007. If that's simply too many numbers, let's just say this is brooding, gritty, distorted but euphoric, empowering but tense experimental rock, with electronic effects.

Review: The reinvigoration of Jorge Velez career over recent years has been a joy to behold. While he's been making music since the 1990s - as Rush Hour's 2012 compilation of old MMT Tape recordings proves - it's only in recent times that he's really hit his stride. This mini album for L.I.E.S - his third outing for Ron Morelli's acclaimed imprint - is a thing of great beauty, with the veteran New York producer joining the dots between creepy, metallic electronica, unsettling ambience, drowsy techno, tropical influences, and more post-apocalyptic fare. While undoubtedly experimental in nature and prone to taking a bleak outlook, Animals Disk is still a surprisingly beautiful album, with plenty of intriguing musical avenues to explore.

Review: Dark Entries has been at the forefront of the coldwave and synth revival that has slowly taken hold over the last decade. Next up they turn their attention to a reissue of an out of print EP from 1988 by Jordi Guber and Krishna Goineau as Velodrome. Villalobos has been known to drop cuts from it, which should give you a good idea of its musical style: freaky 80s electro built on steppy drums, with taut and twanging synths reverberating around the mix, as exemplified by the opener. "Glasfabrik" is a hyper-speed cut with a tongue in cheek vocal, while "Capataz" is the most well-known joint with its acid bass and crashing hits.

Like the title suggests, Mr. Funk delivers an EP that will make your body move like you're having a seizure. From destruction of the Sesame Street pinball song, the desecration of Uma Thurman, and the deconstruction and reconstruction of "punishing the atoms" snares lambast you like they haven't since Shitfuckers. This is Venetian Snares as you grew to love him; cranking out the sickest, cleanest, densest, most full-on breakcore you'll ever hear. Review: London based producer Jules Venturini is up next for Whities, following up great releases by Avalon Emerson and Lanark Artefax. On the label's 14th edition, Venturini follows up some sludgy lo-fi techno/house derivatives on Polish label Brutaz with some more similarly rusty and dust covered aesthetics. Beginning with the 12 minute epic "Flying Kites" which channels early '90s British bleep IDM, until that fast hitting groove hits at just the right time towards the end. Lush ambient piece "Keep Me Close" works as an effective intermission of sorts on this grainy and saturated dream state captured to VHS. Finally, Venturini displays a more aggressive side as seen on his previous release with the gnarly and slow burning industrial electronics of "Trace Of Smoke".

Review: Crimes Of The Future is the kind of label you can trust, no matter who is at the controls. The same could be said for Giallo Disco, and certainly the two labels orbit a similar space for lurid soundtrack-inspired hardware jams from the Italo age. Vercetti Technicolor is one half of the Giallo team alongside Antoni Maiovvi, and here steps out with a perfectly bombastic range of compositions that revel in B-movie brilliance. "Golden Taurus" is the perfect slow-burner, those mono bass notes warming like no soft synth ever could, while "Topaz Fear" brings a more action-driven sequence into the mix. "Death Wish" too opts for a pumped up club scenario, while Heinrich Dressel smokes out "Golden Taurus" into a seedy slow-jam.
