Crystal Maze EP (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: ACIWAX 25. Rel: 11 Feb 20
Techno
  1. Aztek Zone (3:32)
  2. Medieval Zone (3:56)
  3. Crystal Dome Acid (4:40)
  4. Future Zone (3:54)
  5. Industrial Zone (4:10)
Review: Those cheeky herberts at Acid Waxa have invited Ayu Acid to have a right laff paying homage to the finest of 90s game shows through the medium of hi NRG video game acid. The Crystal Maze is a fine muse indeed, with each zone and the Crystal dome itself represented here. "Aztek Zone" is a sprightly, uptempo beast, while "Medieval Zone" ramps up the parping MIDI brass and canned harpsichord to deadly effect. "Crystal Dome Acid" is an appropriately boss-level jacker, while "Future Zone" slows things down and toughens up in remarkable fashion. "Industrial Zone" nudges a little swing into the mix and lets the 303 glide all over the shop. Fans of Ceephax Acid Crew's goofier moments, take note.

Acid Royale (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: ACIWAX 21.
Experimental/Electronic
  1. MDM Anal
  2. Don't Get Caught
  3. Acid Royale
  4. Go Skiiing
Review: Following the release of Roy's sold-out cassette album of the same name in 2018, Acid Waxa are thrilled to present 4 cuts from Acid Royale on vinyl for the very thirst time! EP opener MDM ANAL cuts no corner kicks, immediately reeling in both the young & old raver of yon with a raw and irresistible chonk of hedonistic HI-NRG saucy Euro-dance bang, followed by firm EP and album fave DON'T GET CAUGHT with its beautiful gushing synth-lines and biting 303. Fast forward to the second half of the match and title track ACID ROYALE is a thumping, tickler of a ride with its rolling cymbals and dizzying, fizzed-up synth lines. EP closer GO SKIIING sees Roy in gentler fettle, easing our collective come-down with fluttering, snowflake-like synths and thick, buried bass drums, peng (bobble) hats and dense snares, shovelled up from off of the slope where Roy skilfully and majestically soars. BRAVO, MISTER RACE!!

  8. Transmission 303 (3:54)
  9. Roy Monster Porn (part 3) (3:05)
  10. The Box (6:40)
Review: Roy Of The Ravers returns to his Acid Waxa stomping ground with a much needed vinyl pressing of last year's insanely good "Who Are Ya??" album. Keeping tracks these potent trapped on cassette would have been a crime, but fear not as they've been cut in all their squelchy, 303-baiting glory. There's a particular snappy appeal to Roy's style that makes it some of the most refreshing acid we've heard in some time, whether it's the proper naughty "Roy Shat Over Ref" or the slow-creeping acid of "All Aboard !!!" The vibe is raw and nasty throughout, just like how proper acid should be.

Pillow Person Remixes (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: ACIWAX 17. Rel: 19 Mar 18
Experimental/Electronic
  1. On Your Way (Bogdan Raczynski remix)
  2. In My Game (Lechuga Zafiro remix)
  3. In My Game (IYDES remix)
  4. Go Ahead (Oliver Coates Sirius rework)
Review: Acid Waxa drew plenty of positive heat for carrying Roy Of The Ravers amongst many other respected braindancers, but now Hot Chip drummer Sarah Jones is getting the remix treatment on the label for her Pillow Person project, with some wild results. It's great to see Bogdan Raczynski back in action and bringing some gently wonked, emotional acid meanderings to "On Your Way", while Lechuga Zafiro makes an art out of aping footwork, and more specifically "Footcrab" while making it sound like someone just stubbed their toe and got stuck in a loop. IYDES however turns "In My Game" into a deconstructed but utterly bloated pop beast, and then Oliver Coates whips "Go Ahead" into a woozy, highly strung daze with billowing synths underneath Jones' vocal.

I Just Disco EP (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: ACIWAX 16. Rel: 26 Jun 17
Deep House
  1. I Just Disco
  2. Hold Mund
  3. Heartbreaker
  4. Strange Game
Review: Arvid Whetman has plenty going for him at the moment. As Sexazoid he's dropping all kinds of off-kilter machine beats on excellent labels like Born Free, while as Your Planet Is Next he builds on appearances on Junk Yard Connections, Waving Hands, Opal Tapes, Studio Barnhus and Klasse to deliver this chirpy four-tracker to Acid Waxa. From the twee vocals to the playful synths and straight up drums, this is club music crafted for an immediate hit. Whetman makes this approach work magnificently though, liberally applying his musical personality to lo-fi deep house and roughshod acid, with "Heartbreaker" being a firm favourite thanks to its fulsome 303 bassline and hooky vocal mantras.
