Sartorial - "Booty Call" (6:26)
Review: London's Tropical Disco Records returns this week with Vol 26 in their esteemed label series. Andy Bach serves up the acidified late night dancefloor heater 'Needin' You'on the first side followed by Kikko Esse's sweltering Latin-infused number 'Reloaded' featuring one killer horns section. On the second side, Sam Pills gets seriously lo-slung on the smooth balearica of 'New Day' and finally the label chief goes poolside on the sexy, funky broken beat/nu-jazz of 'Booty Call'.

Biesmans & Zombies In Miami - "Smooth Monday" (7:02)
Biesmans - "All Day, Every Day" (4:19)
Review: Biesmans' contribution to Watergate's mix series is made up entirely of his own previously unreleased productions, most of which were made in cahoots with friends and other like-minded artists. Because of this, the German label has decided to release two extensive vinyl samplers featuring the cream of these cuts. The Belgian indie-dance stalwart is in fine form throughout the first of these, with our picks of a very strong bunch including the new wave-tinged, cosmic-minded Shubostar hook-up 'Across The Universe', Zombies In Miami-sporting nu-disco throb-job 'Smooth Monday', breakbeat-driven neo-rave anthem 'All Day Every Day' and the EP-closing 'Away', where doP member Vandesande helps Biesmans channel the spirit of Vangelis' much-loved Bladerunner soundtrack.

Zsa Zsa (Psychemagik remix)
Zsa Zsa (Cato retouch)
Zsa Zsa (Wolf + Lamb remix)
Zsa Zsa (Kiani vs Red D remix)
Review: The original of this first saw the light back in autumn 2013, and it remains a dynamically built nu-disco track boasting early Aeroplane style piano licks and an arresting vocal from Kristina Train. It's Blamma Blamma at their most stately and stunning. Here we find it in remix form; Psychemagik provide a liquid, bulbous bass facelift, Cato re-emphasises the nude beauty with a few edit sparkles, Wolf + Lamb go deeper with a synth heavy late-night floor stomper while Kiani vs Red D close the show with a sunset-minded slice of modern euphoria. Each twist adding a whole new chapter to the Blamma Blamma story, the only problem is working out which rub to add in your next set.

Groovemasta - "Gonna Make U Rock" (6:32)
Review: It's a sizzling seven up for Moiss Music here as they draw together four different artists to offer up one cut each for this new various artists collection. Boogietraxx goes heavy on the filter vibes on 'S N T' which is French touch disco-house of the highest order. Kellit's 'Pryscoks Sockin Socks' is all about sultry sax lines and loose-limbed disco house beats while C Da Afro gets heads up with the streaming sunshine synths of 'Don't Be Quiet.' Groovemasta shut down with the funky Afro-disco stylings of 'Gonna Make U Rock.'

Song For Ehi (7:04)
Song For Ehi (Bosq Disco dub) (7:03)
Review: You'd expect a collaboration between Columbia-based fusionist Bosq, Ibibio Sound System's horn section and vocalist Kaleta to be pretty darn good, and 'Song For Ehi' most certainly is. Inspired by a combination of classic Edo-funk, Afro-disco and reggae disco, the A-side original version delivers a near perfect mix of timbales-sporting dub disco grooves, reverb-laden lead vocals, Afro-funk guitar licks, Afrobeat-esque organ licks and punchy horns. The track's inherent dubbiness is further explored on the flipside revision, which adds extra layers of percussion and the kind of breathless dancefloor weight that marks out the greatest dub disco workouts. In a word: essential!

Meji Meji (Folamour remix) (4:27)
Sonayon (Disco dub) (5:11)
Review: Bosq and Kaleta's most recent single, an inspired Afro-disco two-tracker featuring 'Meji Meji' and 'Sonayon', has been given the remix treatment. On side A, Folamour successfully re-imagines 'Meji Meji' as a joyous, sun-bright slab of cheery deep house/colourful nu-disco fusion, wisely making the most of Kaleta's infectious vocals, the original disco bassline, and the pair's chirpy horns. Over on side B, Bosq takes over and delivers a delicious 'disco dub' of 'Sonayon'. A little more stripped-back and groove-based than the original nix with breakdowns and special effects aplenty, Bosq makes merry with horns, highlife guitars and more Afrobeat style bass guitar pressure.

Shining Of Life (2017 Full Moon mix) (15:13)
Shining Of Life (The House Thing - unreleased mix) (8:21)
Review: Calm's "Shining of Life", a nu-jazz era fusion of soulful U.S house influences, jazzy instrumentation and life-affirming goodtime vibes, first appeared in stores way back in 2004. Here the Japanese producer has chosen to revisit his noughties classic, serving up a brand new "2017 Full Moon Mix" that pushes the track's gospel style vocals, fluid pianos, mazy synths and tasty, disco-influenced grooves to the fore. It's a superb revision, all told, and arguably even better than the near peerless original. On the flip you'll find an unreleased version from the archives that sounds like some long lost Frankie Knuckles remix - all expansive, eyes-closed piano solos, tactile synth bass and unfussy Chicago house beats.

Same Old Clown (album version)
Same Old Clown (Linkwood remix)
Same Old Clown (KON remix)
Same Old Clown (KON dub)
Review: Chico Mann and Kendra Morris combine sublimely on the Same Old Clown 12" through Soundway which is a thrilling taster of what's to come on Magical Thinking, the multi instrumentalist's third solo LP. Whilst the Antibalas guitarist has remained close to his Afrobeat roots on previous long players for Wax Poetics and Kindred Spirits, his new album is said to offer a more expansive portrayal of Chico's tastes taking in latin, freestyle, funk and boogie and "Same Old Clown" certainly suggests this is a rewarding approach. Mann's classic squelching 80s electro funk arrangement is the perfect backdrop for Kendra's slinky vocals and the accompanying remixes from Linkwood and Kon only serve to show her range, with the Firecracker man's boogie house update our personal favourite here at Juno.

Set Mo - "Could I Be" (5:35)
Review: Sweat It Out Records kicks off their tasty Sweat Sampler series with their first volume, cutting niftily across four exceptionally sweaty bops, spanning tongue-in-cheek deep tech reworks and downtempo disco delights. First off is the dream team of Cid and Havoc & Lawn, whom together deliver a hilariously effective house version of America's 'A Horse With No Name'; this is shortly followed by Saturday Love, Kon and Furious's 'Come Out', a rejigged nu-disco samosa packed with some rare vocal spices; then there's 'Give It To Me' by Marco Lys and Ben Miller, a bass-driven bouncer unafraid of lasershot winddowns, injunctive vocals and risers; and finally, there's Set Mo's 'Could I Be', the anthem of the bunch, whose buildup and drop is alarming, affecting, cumulatively awe-striking.

Crowns Of Glory - "Lord, Look At Your People" (Joaquin Joe Claussell mix) (5:48)
Keith Barrow - "A World Of Lonely People" (Joaquin Joe Claussell mix) (7:37)
Review: If the rich history of US gospel soul, funk and disco gets your juices flowing, you need this new 12" from Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell in your life. As with many of the storied producer's edit-focused 12" singles, it has been pressed in limited quantities and should therefore be grabbed before all the copies disappear. On the A-side he offers up a tidy, dancefloor-focused tweak of Crowns of Glory's hard-to-find 1976 gospel soul cut "Lord, Look At Your People", brilliantly teasing out the intro before unleashing the song in all its inspiring righteousness. Over on the flip Clausell turns his attention to the Clavinet-heavy, Blaxploitation-era gospel disco anthem that is Keith Barrow's equally as inspired 1977 gem "A World Of Lonely People".

Review: Razor-N-Tape's Family Affair series makes a welcome return here with a third great instalment. This series is something of an annual end-of-year tradition by now (OK, it's arriving a touch late) and this one hits as hard as any with five tracks taken from the full and standout compilation. It is two great remixes of classic RNT material that gets things underway with Ezel offering a dub of Cor.ece and Bruce Leroys sublime deep hose mix of Guinu, then JKriv's 'Better Than Her' is a fat bottomed bit of deep cut electro funk and elsewhere Kim Anh gets raw and cosmic, and Cody Currie's 'Ghost' is broken beat perfection.

Review: Given that Hard Fist's first two releases hit home hard, hopes are naturally high for the imprint's third 12". Whereas releases one and two were solo EPs, Princes of Abzu is something of an all-star affair. Label founders Cornelius Doctor and Tushen Rai join forces for the excellent, Acid Arab-esque opener "Place Du Pont", while Jakam's superb "Tribes" brilliantly joins the dots between Afro-house, Middle Eastern exotica and, most thrillingly of all, spiritual jazz. Elsewhere, Shadi Khries' "Semsemeh" is a dark and atmospheric chunk of psychedelic acid-jack and Timothy Clerkin's fuzzy and aggressive "Akama" is a mid-altering analogue chugger.

Lewie Day - "Bedwetter"
Delano Smith - "Time Is Right"
Kiko Navarro - "Love Will Be Forever"
Review: Our man down under Lewie Day - a Juno Plus 'Ones To Watch' alumni under his Tornado Wallace moniker - heads up the second volume of the We Get By With A Little Help series on Kolour's House Is The Cure sub-label. Day's intriguingly titled "Bedwetter" is draped in those same thick, heavy chords and Motor City atmospherics that accompanied his breakthrough "Paddlin" and "Always Twirling" tracks from 2010; an instant and bewitching delight. This shares the A Side with Delano Smith who serves up "Time Is Right", a kind of lush, no frills deep house cut that one expects from such a respected member of Detroit's current generation. Kiki Navarro delivers "Love Will Be Forever" on the flip, which boasts some nice tropical drums and cleverly arranged vocal snippets. Proceeds from the records go towards the boys and girls club of Detroit, so buying this 12" also counts as your good deed for the day!

To us this is an endless Saturday spent lazing by a pool or chilling at a BBQ with good friends. Cool, calming, melodic bliss - each and every track. T&P Aka Tim Sweeney & Lauer - "Dance To T&P" (5:04)
Fantastic Man - "The Times We Loved & Miss" (6:23)
Review: This tasty double-pack is the result of a collaboration between self-styled "renegade art publication" Toilet Paper, Nike Lab, nomadic Internet broadcaster Automat Radio and Vinyl Factory. The basic idea was to gather together previously unheard tracks from artists based in four different countries. Italy's DJ Tennis teams up with Sebra Cruz on opener "Truth Or Consequences", layering bubbly and attractive nu-disco synths over a rubbery house rhythm. London-based rising star Kiwi explores the worlds of breezy new wave and bubbly Italo-disco on the picturesque "Avocet", while Tim Sweeney and Phillip Lauer (as T&P) channel the spirit of Metro Area and Gina X on EP standout "Dance To T&P". To round things off, Aussie Fantastic Man serves up a fiendishly fuzzy chunk of chiming synth-pop/deep house fusion.

Review: Disco Hamam's Hamam House launched in 2014 and they've left us hanging at a lonely taverna table ever since... Knowing the party would warm up once again. Three years later, it truly has an a largely Turkish collective lay down a supreme collection of eastern funk trips. Fattish's "Gel Seher" adds a little swaggering house beat beneath the soaring vocals and strings, Kozmonotosman gets mischievous with a loose-string twang jam while Kurt Adam enshroud us with a strangely percussed subverted lounge ballad. Tokyo Matt takes a final roll of the dice with a tropical finale laced with fretless bass finesse.

Having previously joined forces with one-time Sonar Kollektiv regular Clara Hill, this E.P sees him acquire the services of killer keys-man Kaidi Tatham of Bugz In The Attic fame. The latter's smart, jazz-funk influenced riffs are all over the sweet, gently soulful and wonderfully positive deep house A-side "Lights Out", but can also be heard on the woozy, broken beat-goes-boogie flex of "High Flames". "Flash Burn", another musically rich, organic house groover - this time complete with what sound like eyes-closed guitar solos - completes an excellent package.

Paying The Price (house instrumental mix)
Review: "Eye Know", the auspicious debut single from Hotel Motel aka Alex Tepper and DJ History's Bill Brewster released earlier this month on the Hometaping imprint, set a high standard with a raw house bump augmented by undulated piano melodies. Thankfully Hotel Motel disregards any notion of laurel resting with this release for the always quality Under The Shade which more than matches their debut. "Paying The Price" is made by the typically warm vocal contribution from Miss Kathy Diamond, whose vocals fit ever so snugly around the well paced boogie chug. An increasing cosmic sensation rises as the track progresses thanks to a surfeit of synth and key stabs allied with the deep echo that reverberates around Diamond's refrain. The flipside house mix transforms the track into subaqueous late night boompty music driven by crisp drums and warm bass movements, with Diamond's every line matched by the male diva backing. It's this vocal interplay that distinguishes this version as the most memorable on an all round impressive twelve inch.

Up first is a wonderful remix by Opolopo of Adina Howard that brings jazzy keys and heavy deep house drums, then Rocco Rodamaal keeps it deep with a low slung groove topped with diva vocals full of soul. Incogdo - "Simply Just A Ventage"
Incogdo - "Ventage" (Institutional mix)
Kenny Larkin - "Wondering"
Kenny Larkin - "Q" (Right Brain mix)
Review: A four track EP from the States with two tracks from Incogdo (Carl Craig & Derrick May) and two tracks from Kenny Larkin. Very rare tracks which have not really surfaced in the UK from the piano-meets-techno anthem "Sinply Just A Ventage" to the disco cut-up "Ventage" using bits of Ripple & MFSB. On the flip, its more on a Detroit tip as "Wondering" goes all mean and moody with building synth lines whilst "Q" (Right Brain mix) is an epic Underground Resistance techno symphony!! What an amazing record!

Review: Love Fever, the infamous and erogenous East London discotheque and record label returns with some late night works in the form of Ron Jason and Kim Ann Foxman's 'The Dream Project EP'. After Ron Jason's Paradise Garage evoking and much played "Paradise Lost" (with Love Fever regular Larry Heard remixes) caught the ear of label bosses Alex & Andy last year with its depth and sincerity, Ron was tracked down, discovered as Italy's enigma Simoncino and connected with Brooklyn's fly girl and modernist diva Kim Ann Foxman to explore possibilities in house. The outcome is a raw 5 track EP drawing inspiration from classic Chicago house with the Master C&J evoking "M", a Blue Jeans interpretation on "R" and a melodic yet somber lead Track "E" where you find a modern bassline chugging below analogue synth lines and Kim's individualistic approach to vocals. The record pays homage to an era in house lost, deepest Chicago and New York with a not so subtle dedication to long time friend of Ron's, Dream 2 Science. With water droplets and sexual intensity harking back to early 90s masterpiece 'My Love Turns To Liquid' on "A".

Review: Paris label Dockside Records don't put out a great deal of music every year, but when they do get their act together it's usually a rather special affair. With previous releases by the likes of Norm Talley and Rick Wade, it's clear that the imprint has decided upon retaining a heavily US sort of sound on the house and techno that they release. Not surprisingly, Detroit's K Hand pops up for their latest 12" and his "Do It Again" tune is a sublime slice of Michigan sample house...wonderfully deep bass tones, disco strings and those ringing vocal samples. For fans of KDJ, Andres and all the rest of the throng.
