The Philly Avengers

AC Soul Symphony - "The Philly Avengers" (7" version) (4:56)
Mistura - "If You Ever Need Somebody" (feat Tiffany T'Zelle - 7" version) (4:47)
Review: Z Records are kicking off 2023 in fine style with some seriously potent disco house wares, as if we would expect any less. On the A-side of this 7" we get AC Soul Symphony (Z main man Dave Lee to anyone else) having fun laying down the heat on 'The Philly Avengers' with a dramatic, wah wah toting funk explosion. On the B-side, Tiffany T'Zelle leads on vocals while Mistura handles the production for the swooning, passionate poise of 'If You Ever Need Somebody' - a future classic condensed into a radio-friendly edition for this killer 7".

Aceedo Domingo - "Corre Riba" (4:25)
Those Guys From Athens - "Na Bola" (3:45)
DJ Laurel - "Peanut Man" (5:08)
Monsieur Van Pratt - "Lose Your Mind" (4:24)
Review: As the title suggests, there's an undeniably humid, sun-kissed and tropical feel to Act of Sedition's latest double-dose of seven-inch re-edits. Accedo Domingo lives up to his name by adding squelchy TB-303 lines and relaxed house beats to a stirring Cape Verde dancefloor jam on "Corre Riba", before Those Guys From Athens deliver a chunky, house-style revision of a turn-of-the-80s MPB classic ("No Bola"). Over on the second "45", DJ Laurel tools up an undeniably funky disco number (the stellar "Peanut Man") before Monsieur Von Pratt makes an already heavy disco-funk number even weightier ("Lose Your Mind").

Tembezi
Tembezi (Prins Thomas version)
Tembezi (Marcellus Pittman remix)
Review: Internasjonal pull a curveball with the delightful afro house stylings of "Tembezi" from the unheralded Ackin'. Featuring the poignant vocal talents of M. Akamatsu, there are multiple charms to "Tembezi" which brandishes the sort of richly textured rhythms and melancholic piano improvisations that can't help but encourage the movement of feet. This being an Internasjonal release there is an accompanying Prins Thomas remix that winds down the tempo to a more cosmic level without losing any of the original's tinkling delights but our favourite thing about this record is the final remix from 3 Chairs originator Marcellus Pittman. Adopting a bumpier note, Pittman's talent for crafting emotive synth melodies and dubbed piano chords shines through with positively incandescent results.

The Blackbyrds - "Rock Creek Park" (Lego edit) (4:38)
Michael Jackson - "PYT" (Bully Boy Refix) (4:40)
Review: Another double dose of seven-inch action from the Art of Sedition crew, who once again offer up a quartet of floor-focused re-edits stretched across two dinky slabs of wax. Mighty Mouse's punchy instrumental dub of Don Ray's "Got To Have Nothing" also hits the spot. On the second disc, Lego Edit flexes his muscles with a locked in, house style take of the bass-heavy classic "Rock Creek Park", before Bully Boy does his best Reflex impression on what sounds like a ground-up stems revision of MJ classic "PYT".

Arthur Adams - "You Got The Floor" (5:54)
Millie Jackson - "We Got To Hit It Off" (4:42)
C-Brand - "Wired For Games" (8:38)
Review: Groovin Recordings is kicking off a new series in brilliant style here with three killer disco-boogie tracks. They were all first released between 1979 and 1982 and first up is Arthur Adams with 'You Got The Floor.' It's an uber cool groove with AOR vocals, loose drum funk and sprinkles of disco dust. There is more theatre to the soaring strings of Millie Jackson's 'We Got To Hit It Off' which has rickety drum loops and funky bass riffs. C-Brand's 'Wired For Games' closes won and might be the best of the lot with its coy male vocal, playful guitar twangs and nice raw claps.

Trax 25 vs DJ History Vol 3: Trax Re Edited
Cat: HURTLP 098-3. Rel: 04 Feb 11
Adonis - "Down The House" (Toby Tobias & Hardway Bros remix)
Willie Wonka - "What Is House" (Andy Blake edit)
Ron Hardy - "Sensation" (Richard Sen edit)
Mr Lee - "Pump Up Chicago" (JD Twitch edit)
Review: Whilst all the vinyl samplers for this DJ History curated Trax Re-edit compilation are worth investigating, it's perhaps this third volume that screams essential the most by virtue of the presence of JD Twitch, Andy Blake, Richard Sen, Toby Tobias and Hardway Bros as the resident re-editors. Nor do they disappoint either as Hardway Bros team up with Rekids type Tobias and introduce some driving energetic synth patterns into Adonis' "We're Rocking Down This House" as well as embellishing the bottom end for a modern day warehouse thumper. Equally good is Cave Painter Andy Blake teasing out the rubbery off kilter undertones to Willy Wonka's spoken word drum machine thriller "What Is House" whilst retaining the raw, stuttering core. On the flip, Richard Sen goes deep on the signature synth stabs to Ron Hardy's "Sensation" which will destroy the more discerning dancefloors out there. Finally JD Twitch strips Mr. Lee's "Pump Up Chicago" of its really quite silly overtones and twists the track into a brilliantly hypnotic and menacing acid tinged late night jacker

Matt Moroder - "Yasemin Endless Edit" (6:42)
Potentiometer - "Turkish Sauerkraut" (7:05)
Afrobot - "Kalk Gidelim" (5:46)
Review: The success of Holland's AM edit imprint lies in its founders' desire to offer up on-point scalpel reworks of thoroughly obscure but inspired tracks from around the world. Naturally, there's plenty of evidence to support this argument on the label's sixth hand-stamped 12". AM regular Afrobot kicks things off via "Turkish Dream", a fine tweak of a boisterous, Hammond-heavy chunk of glassy-eyed late '60s dream pop, before Matt Moroder gets busy with a deliciously low-slung slab of Middle Eastern post-punk dub disco. On the flip, Potentiometer rearranges a seriously heavy Turkish funk-rock workout - think Rare Earth guitar riffs, sweaty drumming and eyes-closed solos - while Afrobot takes is further into psychedelic territory via the mind-altering, Moog-boasting brilliance of "Kalk Gidelim".

Review: Alzaya is a boutique label from Milan that has put out a select few EPs over the last three years from names such as Paula Tape. Now it kicks off a new Various Artist series with five quality tunes. Akasha System's 'Midnight Tide' is a nice neon-lit future tech cut with bubbling, soft focus melodies. Review: Croatian crate diggers and disco doyens Legalize Lambada come correct with their second EP: Swedish Frisbee chucker Albion takes the lead with two contrasting slices: Like a big old furry beast, "Yetti" bears demonic vocal teeth but shows a much softer side through its instrumentation while "Into Infinity" is, as its name suggests, pure cosmicity. Flip for a trip to Austria with Mike Burns as we're treated to early '80s European disco, "Enyin," and a bumper-to-bumper yacht hymn "This Ground". Lambada licking good. So good, in fact, it has to be illegal.

Mary Clark - "Take Me I'm Yours" (Pablo & Shoey Re-jig) (8:05)
Rena - "Dance It Off" (Pablo & Shoey Re-jig) (8:53)
Review: Mancunian scalpel fiends Pablo & Shoey have been rather quiet of late. Surprisingly, this is the first EP in their popular Downtown Sounds Classics series for almost two years. In a nod to Manchester's once-thriving electro scene, the A-side is given over to a tasty, on-point rearrangement of Aleem's 1984 breakdance classic "Release Yourself", which once helped inspire a generation of future dance music producers. On the flip, Mary Clark's recently reissued 1980 disco classic "Take Me I'm Yours" goes under the knife, before they finish with a high-octane chunk of obscure disco silliness: Rena's ludicrously hard to find "Dance It Off". Their edit is fairly reverential, sticking to the loose and sweaty feel of the original.

Lego Edit - "Party Freaks" (Lego party dub) (5:59)
Review: You can always count on the Legofunk crew to bring you disco and funk edits from less mined sources that will absolutely rock it on the floor. On this instalment we have five different joints to get stuck into, from the slow Afro house throw down of Alexny's 'Meneao' to Siggatunez's slinky, soulful groover 'Boogie'. Look out for the low tempo seduction of DJ Laurel's 'Let The Good Time', which will get a warm-up slot thoroughly juiced for the night to come. The Lego Edit 'party dub' of 'Party Freaks' heads more explicitly towards peak-time house, but as ever it's delivered with heart and soul thanks to the vintage source material powering the track.

Review: This classic electro funk track Maxx Traxx called 'Don't Touch It' is about as desirable and rare track as any 1980s record is. Originally released in 1982 by the Chicago soul group Maxx Traxx, the records are scarce for a small price. When word got around that the record would get reissued, it sparked interest from Another Taste to do a cover for the flip side and honour the event, an excellent homage to the original while injecting their own creativity and showmanship. Impossible to choose a favorite, let's just enjoy both excellent pieces of spacey funk music. This edition comes on purple 7".

Review: Six months after their last installment, Shir Khan and Exploited drop another hot to trot collection of disco edits. As usual, there's much to excite, beginning with the familiar guitar solos, Rhodes keys and dub disco pulse of Antilope's "Singing Ghost" rework. Death On The Balcony keep up the reverb and delay-laden dub disco theme on "Addict For Your Love", whose rubbery groove, twinkling pianos and heady vocals have been expertly rearranged to fit house dancefloors. Finally, Matpat go loop crazy on the thumping disco house cut "Only You" which sits somewhere between Rahaan and Soundstream. Excellent stuff all round.

Review: Akira Arasawa opens up with psychedelic Balearic house on 'Panorama New Touch' while OR's 'Hammock Beats' is glitchy and low-slung downtempo. On the flip is the nine-minute head melter 'Liquidanz' with its rippling synth modulations and Hutte Sound System close down with the dreamy end of the night soother 'Fire Fly'. Thsi mproject sees Especial Specials joining forces ed up with Chillmountain Recordings - a label from Osaka, Japan - on a series of new EPs, this being the first of hopefully many. Review: This third volume of instrumentals continues the faultless Isle of Jura label's deep dive into dub versions and beyond. Side one takes in references from UK street soul and reggae and features two late-'80s tracks by Howard Hill with machine-led rhythms, rudeboy reggae skank and soulful pads. Protek's 'I Love to Dance With You' is a proto-house gem featured in a Jura Soundsystem mix and here it gets a loving re-edit by The Nightlark. Side B includes an instrumental-driven track with spacey FX from The Cool Notes' and Ilija Rudman's 'Dub 4 Love' which is a knowing nod to acid house's golden era.

Review: Legofunk builds more bridges between beats with another four tracker from various artists. Atoz kick off with a chunky, heavyweight house tune 'Woman' which samples the iconic vocal from Nina Simone's 'See-Line Woman' tune. Musta goes for a more flailing and funky driven feeling on the afro-tinged 'Cam Run Sun' and on the flip, Wandervogel references one of the greatest fights of all-time with 'Thrilla In Manila.' Daniel Avery - "Oyster"
Montevideo - "Fate Glory" (Fear Of Theydon remix)
Jr Seaton - "No Other Place"
International - "Man Ray"
Review: Robbie Insinna's Relish imprint presents a second vinyl offcut from their Various Artists compilation Relish 3, placing the esteemed talents of Dan Avery, JR Seaton, Montevideo and International across the 24 inches of wax. Avery is of course more commonly known as Stopmakingme, but has recently chosen to record under his real name in an effort to dabble in musical endeavours away from those associated with the Soulwax influenced moniker. "Oyster" is a fine example of Avery's current ear for machine driven sludge funk with reverberant gaseous synths cascading around the driving motorik beat whilst Avery the gaps are filled with all manner of lo fi bleeps and textures. Alongside this, sometime Sunday Best artist Fear Of Theydon is employed to remix "Fate Glory" by Montevideo, delivering a sprawling punk funk odyssey complemented by burrowing Italo bass arpeggios and Jean Waterlot's intermittent vocal contributions that delicately soar. JR Seaton opens proceedings on the flip with "No Other Place" a delightful juxtaposition of gentle melodic tones and jagged rhythms which adds further credence to the opinion the Berlin dweller is one of those who can draw beautiful sounds out of electronic music. Insinna creeps in on the action for the final track as International alongside Stefano for the baggy vibes of "Man Ray", which sounds like a much needed archival find from the 90s DAT tapes of Sir Andy Weatherall.

Review: Some high-grade re-edit action here, as dusty-fingered Chicagoan crate diggers Sadar Bahar and Marc Davis join forces with pal (and credited mixer) Rahaan on two fine tweaks of suitably obscure tracks. A-side 'Disco' is a groovy, funky, horn-heavy affair; a sumptuously string-laden, orchestrated blend of righteous gospel-soul, Philadelphia International style proto-disco and grooves reminiscent of those frequently employed on Steely Dan's most up-beat moments. 'Beat Down' meanwhile is a jaunty, percussive and sun-soaked slab of dancefloor-ready Latin jazz that speeds up as it goes along. The jazz dancers will love it!

This time out he serves up Alloteva, a first joint release with Marco Diongi for the label. Baldelli always manages to show a different look with each and every release and this one is no different - it offers big, cowbell laced cosmic disco with plenty of loose limbed drums and throbbing synths. Mousse T keeps it silky and funky on the feel good 'Take It Back' and Riva Starr brings the swing to 'How It Feels'. Shakedown & Bootsy Collins's 'Funky & You Know It' (Shakedown Work That Mother mix) is a nice sleazy ass-shaker to close.

Review: Italian label Spittle have launched their new Dependance sub label to champion all things Italo, and they're following up on reissues of Zed's 'Plastic Love' and Trophy's 'Slow Flight' with this gem from fabled Italian DJ and producer Massimo Barsotti. Originally released in 1983 on Alexander Robotnick's Fuzz Dance label, we're absolutely treated to a peak Italo version of Led Zeppelin's 'Whole Lotta Love', which takes the original and runs with it in the best possible way. As well as the original we get the killer 'W.L.L.' version excursion on the flip, which rocks out just as hard.

Just Think About (original mix)
Just Think About (Art Of Tones disco mix)
Just Think About (Social Disco Club & Mirror People remix)
Just Think About (Mario dub mix)
Review: Judging by the inherent floating sensation that runs through "Just Think About It", it would seem that Lithuanian producer Mario Basanov has found his muse in Miss Bee. Regular followers of Under The Shade output will know the former has already worked his magic with the latter, having remixed her collaboration with Rampi earlier this year. It's a partnership that works wonders, with Miss Bee's sultry tones the perfect match for Basanov's elastic treatment of analogue sounds and upwards glancing melodics. The usual array of remixes sees Art Of Tones calling shotgun and delivering a remix that swerves proceedings down a decidedly rump shaking disco path, with some excellent key stabs throughout. This is matched by the Social Disco Club and Mirror People remix that builds brilliantly from the glistening opening few bars into an excellent live disco chug - just wait for those piano lines to come soaring in!

Blinkduus Dischetto - "Sein Cirque Les Poppies" (4:45)
Monica Venturella - "Page Not Found" (4:52)
Orso - "Bastardo" (6:00)
Review: Proper euphoric tune-tutelage from the Ajaccio label Digital Finesse, a good name for the label for sure. Run by Jimmy Batt, Digital Finesse's M.O. encompasses curt EPs as well as multitrack V/As, polished and readied for maximum credo. 'I Bastardi Aiaccini' is one of the latter, a six-track compendium fleshing the best one-offs from their personal roster, all while accelerating and hyper-modernising the classic electro and Italo sounds native to the Mediterranean. Beginning with the crisp, hyperactive, arpeggio-heavy metrosexual fascinator 'Electromotion', we then move into the comparatively gradated boxer 'Concorde' by Human Aventura, before rounding off the A on a note of bursting acid innovation, the instrumental version of Pasqua Pancrazi's 'Danesi'. The B opens on a note of sleaze-funk with the speedy 'Sein Cirque Les Poppies' from Blinkduus Dischetto, before going full-throttle dystopi-speed by way of a minimal but no less driven flat-beat cutup from Monica Venturella, 'Page Not Found'. Orso's 'Bastardo' flaunts the more experimental ends of the label's capacity, with 'Bastardo' hearing motifs of IT-hardcore get plunged into more-than-smokey scourings of Reese and sizzle.

Review: Incognito Trax is back to drop a fifth bit of heat with this new and heavily limited 12". Once more it is a various arts affair that explores a disco tinged brand of house and tech. BB opens up with 'Zap Revelation' which has lovely vocal coos over raw beats that hark back to early Chicago house. LV's 'Faccia Gialla' has a Latin feel thanks to the lead horns and the percussive grooves and LV's 'Dream On' then goes deep with indie vocals over guitar laced grooves. Macchianera serves up the final two jams, first solo on the loose limbed 'Alle' then with Mattia C on 'Quack Quack' which is a more jazzy jam.

Beastie Boys vs MFSB - "Check It Out People" (4:19)
MFSB - "People All Over The World" (dub) (4:11)
Review: On his last two singles on Soopastole, mash-up maestro DJ Soopasoul smashed together elements of Stevie Wonder and Redman/Method Man, and James Brown and Crooklyn Dodgers. For his latest trick he's decided to pepper an edited version of "People All Over The World" by Philadelphia Soul legends MFSB, with raps from a stone cold classic Beastie Boys tune. It's the sort of thing that shouldn't work, but the Beasties' flows work perfectly over the flanged guitars, undulating bass and unfussy 4-to-the-floor Philly Soul grooves of the MFSB track. You can hear his instrumental rework of that track on the flip; it's so good that it's arguably worth the entrance price on its own.

MFSB - "People All Over The World" (dub) (4:08)
Review: The latest edition in DJ Soopasoul's "Soopastole Edits" series looks like it may fly off the shelves, and with good reason. The lead cut is not an edit per se, but rather a crafty, clever and expertly produced mash-up that places selected rap flows from the acapella version of Beastie Boys classic "Ch-Check It Out" over a tightened up and fattened up rearrangement of MFSB's disco-era jam "People All Over The World". Sometimes these kinds of mash-ups can be messy, but this genuinely isn't, with the Beasties' vocals fitting the backing track like a glove. Over on side B Soopasoul shares his tweak of the MFSB track, which is entirely instrumental bar periodic use of the band's female backing vocals. In a word: ace!

Review: What started out as a compilation series has since grown into an equally delightful label. Too Slow To Disco is the perfect name for all this as it captures those in-between sounds that fuse mature grooves, Balearic sounds and plenty more from yacht rock to funk. It's all slinky sliders on this one with Ben Jamin's 'Over You' layering the lush wind and chords to sundown perfection. David Bay picks up the pace with a disco-house pumper 'Save On Love'. The best of the lot is the seductive and heartfelt disco-soul of Mikeandtess whose 'Hold Us' has glorious male vocals.

Review: Super Spicy's Super Spicy Recipe series is back with a sixth mouthwatering offering and once again it's a super hot outing of party-ready house and disco sounds. First up is the irresistibly colourful disco charm of Birdee with the freewheeling 'Underground' and its groove-infused piano. Label boss Monsieur Van Pratt then adds his own spin to a rare groove classic with a lung-busting soul vocal and Pato Watson is in edit mode as he tweaks 'Ella Fue' to perfection. Italian don Paul Older brings some funky jazz fusion sounds to his steamy 'Turkish Lights, C. Da Afro keeps it a party with his 'Nothing But The Funk' and Mexican Juan Soto slips into a more deep and loved-up funk-house vibe on 'All Is Full Of Love'.

Review: More from re-launched Italo-disco era label Full Time Records, who here present four fresh reworks of tracks from the vaults. G.A.M.M-signed scalpel hero Moplen steps up first to deliver a fine dubbed-out re-edit of Boeing's slap bass-propelled electrofunk classic "Dance To The Beat", before Massimo Beradi adds a little subtle, mid-tempo house flavour to Electric Mind's lesser-celebrated 1982 Italo-disco jam "Summing Up". DJ Rocca opens side B in some style, hammering away at a TR-808 drum machine while giving Maurice McGee's 1984 cut "Styx" an altogether deeper vibe. Meanwhile, Re-Tide turn Orlando Johnson's Paradise Garage favourite "Turn The Music On" into a muscular chunk of bass-propelled boogie-house badness.

Review: Smutty Edits is the brainchild of Jeroen Van der Smut, a music aficionado who - it is said, after indulging in kilos of Gouda cheese, chips with mayo and pancakes - left Amsterdam over thirty years ago for Anjuna Beach in India. It's a tale as old as time; a chosen dance adventurist leaves behind their quotidian European origin, in search of joys beyond the curtain of the east. Settling into the worlds of Goa trance and other adjacent electronic musics, Smut began to soak in their potents; and now, after years of surveying and reconnaissance, comes a true special ops mission: the 'Smutty Edits Series'. This first edition is a charming mix of rough-n'-tumble new beat, Balearic house ('Neukolln Riviera'), phosphorescent trance (the Board In Dust edit of 'Penkin Vogue House' is a real highlight) and minimal house come chillout, there are few vestiges of Goa here, though the record still betrays a worldly, lifelong globetrot's worth of accruing musical experiences and influences.

The first of them sees the pumping and hypnotic "Stjernekrigen" from Jarle Brathen, the more funk-infused sounds of Casiokids' "Den Lange Veien Hjen", the pensive analogue sounds of Erik Skantze's "Stargaze" and Markus Varied's "No Vil Eg Bort Og Gifta Meg Og Rydja Meg Ein Gard", which creates a disco odyssey filled with jazz rhythms worthy of its tongue-twister of a name.

Review: The second sampler celebrating Full Pupp's 10 years in the business of releasing records kicks off with Andrea Bratten's "Every Fourth Bar", a veritable Scando-disco stomper which puts us in mind of some of the label's most classic output. The other tracks aren't too bad either: Randaberg Ego Ensemble's "You Can't Do It Right" provides a heavy percussive jam for those who like things free flowing and stripped back, the shameless vocal house of Blackbelt Andersen's "Langniappe" and one of Prins Thomas's trademark Diskomiks versions of Mental Overdrive's "Spoks", which takes things into expectedly cosmic territory.

Review: Mr Beatnick's Mythstery label returns with 002 after an excellent first outing from Breakplus, whose 12" was vey much to our desire when it dropped late last year. The two actually go head-to-head on this 12" and, much like the twisted disco of artists like Black Devil Disco Club, this is some straight-up sexy gear, disjointed and unadulterated for maximum pleasure. Breakplus' weirdo boogie on "Le Train Inflamme" is our kinda joint, the sort of fuming, acid-laced glitz that'll appeal to the disco-heads and house-nerds alike; Mr Beatnick's "Achilles Heel" is just as eerie and roughed-up, but the vibe on here is darker, moodier, and drenched in a deep electronic edge. Very highly recommended.

Brian Auger's Oblivion Express - "Whenever Your Ready" (8:49)
Michael Wycoff - "Come To My World" (6:45)
Review: Ahead of Paul David Gillman's album on Sacred Rhythm, Claussell takes the time to present two celebratory takes on two stone cold fusion classics. The Latin keys, trembling organs and emphatic harmonies of Brian Auger's "Whenever You're Ready" are subtly charged with Joe's signature percussive magic, creating a sense of momentum that refuses to detract from the original magic while Wycoff's cult gospel-tinged funk "Come To My World" reminds us of his work on Stevie's legendary Songs In The Key Of Life. Subtly amplified and extended, Claussell has blessed us with an ultimate end-of-night gem right here.

Review: Vinyl Only reach their seventh release with a fresh grip of lesser known producers bringing high grade grooves to the table. Bubbadog opens the 12" up in a woozy fashion with the warbling piano chords of "Goin' Round", capturing a time-slip mood that carries through to the dusty jazz soaked beat down of Minus The Majors' "Strole On Through". On the B-side, Alex Zuiev gets into an exotic, chiming, 80s-inflected mood on "Down By The River", creating a slow-burning dancefloor heater out of classic ingredients. Ugly Frankie finishes the EP off with the stripped down funk of "Your Ears Look Great".

Review: Some V/As are dubious in their length, seeming to span both EP and mini-compilation length in equal measure, but not this one, which definitely seems to know what it's about. Moiss Music are no stranger to this format, here presenting their second vinyl release 'Watermelon Jam' after the first EP-length four tracker, 'Strawberry Jam'. Nu-disco, funk and house is the name of the game once again, and the tone is set by C Da Afro's 'That Funky Horn' via sample-filtering soul and raucous trumpets. The vocal cuts on this record are among its highlights; Disco Endeavours' 'So High' carries Brandy-esque chirps along a funking house backdrop, while the best of the bunch - 'Feelin's Mutual' by Pookie Knights - channels Carmen or Sylvester in its syrupy refrains and jet-set arps. Even a samba house bit closes it off - a swell all-rounder.

Marcos Cabral drops a rare solo original production in "I'd Rather Smoke Alone" which adds some vintage Detroit sounds to the trademark retro house jacking rhythms, lots of soaring string arrangements, subtle percussion and key flourishes. Their latest Disco Bits adventure begins via "Black Rhythm Rap", a chunky, hip-hop friendly rework of an obscure, late 1970s disco-rap bomb rich in funky guitar licks, cut-glass strings and party-starting MC flows. On the flip they get even cheekier, placing Loleatta Holloway's incredible "Love Sensation" vocal over a stomping, Blaxploitation-era disco-funk backing track and all manner of familiar soul and funk samples. Purists will no doubt sneer, but they really shouldn't: this is tastefully produced disco heat of the highest order.

As the name suggests, these anonymous editors are having some serious fun on both sides as they laced together two slews of tracks and make them sound like they should have always existed in bed together.
