Review: Every so often, producers tear up the mix album rule book and go their own way. Here, Guy Gerber takes up the gauntlet laid down by Ricardo Villalobos, and fills his Fabric mix entirely with his own productions. Not just any old productions, mind; the 16 tracks showcased here are all brand new and unheard. While some may see this as a touch indulgent, it certainly works. Fabric 64 unsurprisingly hangs together better than most, offering a slick, melody-heavy journey that casually shifts moods throughout whilst retaining a signature sound. Sitting somewhere between deep house, tech-house and Gerber's progressive roots, it's a fluid trip that should appeal to those who enjoy their electronic music soft and cuddly.
