Review: Composer Danny Elfman's scores are legendary - he's done them for classic films like Tim Burton's 1999 version of Sleepy Hollow, Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands and Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas amongst others like Tim Burton's Batman. In short, he was Tim Burton's guy, and the pair are a great match as evidenced by this one, Big Fish, a neo-classic moving picture that got multiple award nominations. Now on its 20th anniversary, it gets a special reissue via Music on Vinyl. This limited and heavyweight gold and black marbled vinyl comes with a four-page booklet.

Review: It's hard to keep up with superhero movie franchises, at least in terms of timeline, but those who have seen the 2002 Spider-Man, which arrived early on in the comic book-screen explosion, will attest to the fact it's a great blockbuster deserving of the attention it received at the time. And box office results. No big screen bonanza is ever complete without an accompanying score, of course, and Elfman's offering more than sets to mood.

Review: Waxwork are experts in giving horror soundtracks the royal treatment, commissioning new artwork, digging for new material and making sure everything has had a proper remaster. On this occasion they're looking at Danny Elfman's score for Tim Burton's 1999 version of Sleepy Hollow. Elfman's striking scores are always instantly identifiable, and he's synonymous with so much of Tim Burton's playfully gothic canon. The full score is included across two discs, and the deliciously gruesome cover art comes from Steven Reeves, who makes a brilliant play on the headless horseman's frustrations - one that will make you jump back from the record shelves when hunting for what to put on next.

Review: Composer Danny Elfman has been responsible for some fantastic soundtracks over the years, though few quite as magical as his score for Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands. Elfman still believes it's his best work to date, and as this deluxe 30th anniversary edition proves, it's hard to argue. Featuring a 79-piece orchestra and a choir of singers, the soundtrack's compositions are both expansive and tender, playing on Burton's vivid imagery, "twisted fairy tale" storyline and regular emotional peaks and troughs. This time round the recording has been given a sparkling re-master and a marbled vinyl pressing, plus deluxe packaging that includes an art print.
