Review: Highly prolific and acclaimed Japanese electronic composer and multi-instrumentalist Susumu Yokota's Baroque album gets a first-ever vinyl pressing here, seven years after his sad passing in 2015, and this time on clear vinyl. The original dropped in 2014 on CD only in the United States but Barcelona-based label Modern Obscure Music now serves it up as a double LP that shows off its eclectic styles. It encompasses "fear, rage, and ugliness existing behind beauty" in musical form, as the artist said at the time, and you can feel all that and more when tuned into it. After doing everything from deep house and Detroit-influenced techno to ambient, this final work was an electronic masterpiece.
