This time he resides at Ninja Tune and his own Werkdiscs in a veritable fight to the death, with what has been hinted as potentially being his last album under the Actress pseudonym. The tone is sparser and the feel is more textural compared to his earlier work, amalgamating dissonant flurries of noise together with shuffle-proof beats and that inimitable Actress deviance. Presented as a sequel to Hazyville, this rather stush looking boxset includes that album on vinyl for the very first time so you can assess how the two fare yourself.

Review: Geir Jensson's debut album under the now familiar Biosphere alias, Microgravity, has long been considered something of a classic of the early '90s ambient boom. First released in 1991, it offered an icy but suitably atmospheric mix of chilly ambience, British-style "intelligent techno" and crystalline IDM. To celebrate 25 years since it was recorded (it was released a year later, in 1991), Geir Jensson has re-mastered it and, with the help of a successful crowd-funding campaign, pressed it onto a double CD minus the cross-fades and sound effects featured on the original pressing. Happily, Microgravity has lost none of its allure.

Review: Techno sorcerer Stephan Bodzin returns with his latest LP. In the last year, he glanced over unfinished material in his musical archive, and while spending time in Brazil, he selected 17 favourites and completed them to present on this album titled Boavista. With the aim of painting 'musical pictures that conjure up very real emotions in the listener', it features the typical style of dancefloor drama you have come to expect from the German producer such as the saucer-eyed epic 'Lil', or the strobe-lit rush of 'Astronautin' to the oncoming sunset euphoria of 'Nothing Like You' (feat Luna Semara) and the bittersweet affair River' towards the end.

Review: Fresh off the acclaimed reissue of his Feuerfalter LP in both parts on Harthouse last year, the legendary Frankfurt label presents another reissue of a classic LP by hi-tech minimalism engineer Boris Brejcha. Die Maschinen Kontrollieren Uns ("The Machines Are Controlling Us"). was the Frankenthal native's second album released in 2007, where the masked crusader presented a whopping sixteen tracks. A true zeitgeist of a golden era in minimal techno, tracks like 'Brainstopper' with its atonal assortment of blips and bleeps underpinned by clipped rhythms will really take you back to the old says, as will the glitchy micro-funk of "Die Maschinen sind Gestrandet" (Second Edition) or the deep tech house of "Wellenreiter (2.0)" could have been played aboard a Sunday boat party along the River Main circa 2008.

Review: Berlin Atonal returned two years ago from a long hiatus, 23 years to be exact. After three tremendous festivals this decade, they now present us with their first recordings since 1984. These particular ones from the 2014 edition. Cabaret Voltaire (in this incarnation featuring only Richard H Kirk) was a true highlight and contributes "Microscopic Flesh Fragment" and "Universal Energy". One half of Demdike Stare Miles Whitaker went solo, presenting his truly unique take on techno, and the slow burning attitude of "Vagabond No. 7" is evidence of this. New Zealand's Fis also appears; rather uncategorisable as always on "Dist CL (Atonal Version)." On the third disc we have Northern Electronics main man and modern auteur Abdulla Rashim presenting two commissions from his captivating atmospheric set that year. Limited to 700 copies.

Review: Civilistjavel's 1 hears a reissue for the second time, following the mysterious ambient dub artist's resurfacing in 2018, after the late Low Company stumbled on their stuff and somehow managed to gain permission to do so outside of the artist's 'private tape / CDR trading networks'. Now it appears that 'Civilist' has taken the reins on their own work, officially reissuing the album directly from the source. It would go with the territory, not least since a spate of recent live performances by the artist seems to have signalled something of an 'opening up'. We're just as blown away by 1 as we were before; with its sensitive melodies and stumbly analog tone loops, building to slow-burning near-nothings.

Review: Max Cooper has never been one to conform. The electronic composer, musician, producer and DJ has built his career around trying to push the limits of musical and visual arts tech, either in the studio or live arena. So it's little surprise to learn On Being, his latest long player, was conceived through a process of reversing standard relationships between artist, their experiences and influences, and the audience. Over a two year period, Cooper gathered anonymous quotes from strangers dealing with existential questions: what do you want to express that you can't in everyday life? What's it like to live inside your mind? More so, what does it mean to be human in 2025? As a result, shared and collective grief, regret, hope, joy, hurt, love and other emotions are the root of every track here, each named after evocative bits from those quotes. It's stunning and emotionally powerful, even if you don't know the back story, with the artist now intent on continuing the concept through other projects.

Review: As you might think, Deepchord are thoroughly well placed for soundtrack work, able to fully indulge their dubbed out tendencies without concerns for the dancefloor. That said, throughout the Silent World soundtrack there are still 4/4 pulses to be found, chugging away underneath the languid tones of "Orbiting" or more prominently on the techno fug of "Ghost Theory". By and large though, this is Echochord in their prime, bathing in a torrent of reverb while winsome notes from forgotten sources cry harmoniously over each other, with only static for company. If you're not a fan of the most beguiling hypnagogic dub techno, turn away now.

Review: With an additional run of three club-minded MASSE remix 12"s released this week by Ostgut Ton, the hugely influential label will round up their soundtrack to the Berghain ballet with a collectors box set of six stand out scores from last year's production, six of which pressed to vinyl, with a further 16 on CD. Phillip Sollmann & Marcel Fengler's Din collaboration provide some of the more experimental highlights with the Dettmann-esque "Aetas" and the industrial ambience "Creation" and "Generation", while as you'd expect Henrik Schwarz delivers splashes of flamenco, classical music and rocky pop to the compilation that's unrivalled in production by any other producer making techno.

Review: Robert Hood's Floorplan alias has been a real hit over the years. Not content with captivating audiences for two decades with his minimal-futurist hypnotism on M-Plant, Floorplan explored his love of sampling, bringing back the vibe of early noughties DJ tools that looped up funk and disco classics for infectious dancefloor dynamics. The Victorious LP is the project's second full length since 2013's Paradise and is co-produced by his daughter Lyric. It features the absolutely massive "Tell You No Lie" which works those loops from the 1977 disco classic "Lovin' You Is Really My Game" by Brainstorm to full effect.

Review: Here's something conceptual from everyone's favourite veteran French DJ/producer: an expansive box set containing tracks from his five thrillingly varied 2014 EPs, a previously unheard 12" (entitled Honey, I'm Home), and a shedload of brand new remixes from the likes of Marc Romboy, Traumer and Husbands. Furthermore, the box set marks the surprise resurrection - for this release only, apparently - of Garnier's once-lauded F Communications label. Musically, La Home Box is rather typical of the French legend, including as it does blistering techno, throbbing house, quirky electronica and bumpin' instrumental hip-hop. If that's not enough to get you reaching for your wallet, he's also included a bonus CD and numbered poster. Tres bien!

Review: Some 30 years later, Flashback, the legendary game by Paul Cuisset, is back with a new addition to the franchise. A classic game for the players, the newly reissued version of Flaschback 2 gets a facelift on its 30th Anniversary, in "2.5D" - following his victory over the Master Brain in the first episode, Conrad and his allies are once again confronted with Morphs, whose modus operandi is to crush all civilization. The new OST was produced by Raphael Gesqua; with about one hundred original soundtracks created for video games or cinema since the beginning of the 90s, Gesqua reunites here with the one who got him started in the world of video games: Paul Cuisset, on Flashback: The Quest For Identity. Cuts from both versions of the game (Commodore and Amiga) appear as part of a rich soundtrack, swerving between cinematic music, electronics and synthwave ambiances. A must have for all science fiction fans.

Review: Selling out within five minutes on her online store, RAVE:N, The Remixes'is an endgame-level convergence of some of the greatest DJs and producers on the scene right now, united with the daunting task of remixing American r&b icon Kelela's 2023 sophomore album Raven. Releasing to universal high acclaim, 'Raven' was a triumph and one of the most diverse and unique projects of that year - to be expected off the back of her similarly groundbreaking 2017 debut 'Take Me Apart'. Both projects ended up on several year-end lists, with 'Raven' being named number 1 by Resident Advisor. RAVE:N, The Remixes is a whole other beast, a 20-track 80-minute compilation of excellence featuring a star-studded lineup ranging from Yaeji and Shygirl to Liv.e and of course BAMBII and LSDXOXO (both heavily involved in making the source material.) The end result has something for everybody, an extremely experimental and varied interpretation of songs that don't overstep the predecessors. 'Fooley (LEECH Ambient Queen Remix)' is dark, heavy and intense, with harsh vocals chanting over Kelela's softly spoken hook, while 'Holier (JD. REID Remix ft.
