Review: Milkcrate Mondays has got a red hot 7" on its hands here with DJ Abel and DJ Spinobi taking one side each. The former kicks off by, says the label, "taking an Ocean classic for a trip to Miami." His take on 'Lost' is a funk-laced jam that blends r&b vocals with bubbling beats and jazzy keys into something brilliantly seductive. On the flip side, DJ Spinobi lays down some heavyweight Afro drum patterns and raw rap bars on 'Bay Bunny' while 'PRVNZA VIP' is a more blissed-out island sound with reggaeton undertones and angelic Spanish vocals up top. A real summer weapon.

Review: Much sought after represses from the Unlimited Love camp, now up to their eleventh edition. On the A side, there's some seriously soulful and raw funk in the form of Aggression's "Tag" from 1981. It's anyone's guess when Robbie Cee's "Beautiful People" (instrumental) is from, but this sexy electronic disco number is timeless and said to be played out by the likes of Hunee and other top selectors. On the flip, Ron Richardson's boogie down joint from 1983 "Ooh Wee Babe" was admittedly our absolute favourite of the bunch. but, honourable mention also to the quite familiar sounding soul power of Sophisticated Ladies - "This Ain't Really Love" (1980).

Review: Those who were inspired by the rise of nu-disco throughout the 2000s should already own a fair few AN-2 records or remixes. The Theomatic label founder was prolific throughout the last decade, but all but vanished from view around 2011. This is his first EP for six years, and sees him join forces with old pal Samos, whose last release landed almost a decade ago. Opener "Nomad" is probably the EP's standout track, featuring as it does a brilliant blend of chugging Italo-disco bottom end, psychedelic acid lines, dreamy chords and mind-altering Greek style instrumentation. That said, we're also big fans of rubbery, P-funk influenced electro excursion "Gran Turismo", while slow motion closer "Cold Front" is a prize chunk of trippy, dubbed-out Balearic disco.

Review: 2015 was the year that marked the birth of Shall Not Fade, a largely anonymous label from somewhere on the Eastern borders of Europe - and that's all we need to know. They've come through with plenty of promising new talent since last year, and this latest EP is a collaborative effort from a further selection of new producers on the scene. Aries drops a delightful little house bomb in "You Make Me Wanna" - one for the garage heads or the lovers - while LK's "It's Been A Long Time" is a scorching disco bomb filled with neat little samples. The flip sees Steven BC go for a bittersweet approach on his tight little house bomb "Nice & Slow", leaving Deejay Astral to enter the deepness with the utterly lovely and vocal-led "Never Gonna Let You Go".

Review: Art Department and Crosstown Rebels seem to have taken the house world by storm in the last two years. Kenny Glasgow and Jonny White's "We Call Love" has been picked apart carefully put back together again by the legendary Balearic beardo DJ Harvey for a limited one sided, hand stamped, hand numbered white label. Slow burning and downtempo, "We Call Love" plays with the original's raw electric guitar melodies, piercing key sequences and chopped vocal snippets. Sensual and lethargically bouncy, it's a late night house track made in typical modern and blase style from the CR camp. Be quick!

Arseeni continues the Indian flavour via the slo-mo, Balearic reggae flex of "Commando", before Sputnik takes our breath away via the surging, Italo-disco-goes-East brilliance of "Bhangraman" - all throbbing arpeggio-style bass, foreboding chords and exotic synthesizer lines. Review: Sundries' Disco Goodies series, which rounds up the best of the label's digital releases and presents them on multi-artist EPs, reaches its fourth instalment. It hits home hard from the start, where Berobreo's 'Soul Driven Dynamics' provides an attractive mix of 1970s orchestral soul samples and rubbery deep house beats. Experienced re-editor Oldchap brings the goods with a lightly tooled-up and beefed-up rework of an orchestra-sporting disco gem ('Coloridos'), before X Gets The Crest delivers a percussive, hot-stepping and filter-smothered re-wire of a much-loved Cymande classic ('Still Come Home'). Over on side B, Alexny's heavy disco-funk re-edit ('People Says') is joined by a hazy and horn-heavy revision courtesy of Sould Out ('City Gal') and the pitched-up disco loop-funk of 'Since You Came' by Workerz.

Review: "Blackout" was created by a collaboration between Black Mustang and the magical Kerrier District (Luke Vibert), Cornwall's answer to Metro Area. Review: 'Jika Jika' is s super sassy version of Grandmaster Flash's iconic 'The Message'. This holy grail reissue from Vive La Musique has had a full remaster and features late, great South African artist Sipho Gumede in his 'Boogie Man' guise. For this one he worked alongside prolific 70s and 80s producer Greg Cutler with a Linn drum and Jupiter 4 synth recreating the famous basslines. Add in a mysterious rap vocal and you have a stone cold classic that will surely be well received in any setting. Flip it over for an extra jazzy synth version.

Review: The Chicago based Stripped & Chewed label release their fifth EP with tracks from Borrowed Identity and Mechanical Soul Brother, as well as Simba and Tanzlife. Borrowed Identity and Mechanical Soul Brother's woozy synth lines of "Love For The Gang" glides through filtered hats, rhythmic percussion and seemingly a rocking house party, while Borrowed Identity, this time on his own produces "Boogie Down", a track where drooling acid smothers a stomping beat and air light chords. Simba supplies some late night city funk with "Three Kays", a perfect soundtrack for the Vegas strip, while Tanzlife keeps things balearic with a disco tinged and deep house gem with added bass licks and James Brown "urgh" vocal snippets.

Review: Endless Flight cull a trio of exclusive cuts from the fourth volume of their I'm Starting To Feel OK mix series and place them across both sides of what is an essential 12 inch. Marcos Cabral drops a rare solo original production in "I'd Rather Smoke Alone" which adds some vintage Detroit sounds to the trademark retro house jacking rhythms, lots of soaring string arrangements, subtle percussion and key flourishes. Cabral is kept in good company with Soul Clap once again adopting their Sect alias on "Thieve Scrilla" with the Boston duo crafting a particularly dirty central bass melody. On the flip Belgian duo Mugwump add further credence to what's been a brilliant year with "Dissidaze2 which mutates back and forth from a menacing noirish acid throb into an unusually perky synth stomp several times over.

Review: Having established themselves as purveyors of fine, Middle Eastern-inspired fare, Disco Halal has decided to apply their magic touch to South American music, with the assistance of specialists Selvagem and Carrot Green. As usual, the emphasis is on blending obscure source material with original music and production. This works particularly well on "Vandre", where an acoustic samba number is turned into a bubbling, Balearic house gem via glistening electronics, synthesized marimba lines and metronomic beats. Marvin and Guy go even further on their remix, turning in a blissful deep house chugger. Flip for the low-slung Brazilian disco-funk of "Dengo" and "Ossain", a misty-eyed, sunrise house number blessed with all manner of (sampled) Brazilian instrumentation.

Review: In general, we'd say it was unwise to tamper with Chic & Sister Sledge back catalogue, especially such stone cold classics as "Thinking of You" and "Le Freak". That said Dimitri From Paris has a brilliant track record when it comes to breathing new life into familiar favourites and there's no doubt that he's hit the mark once again here. On the A-side, the veteran Frenchman stretches out "Thinking of You", subtly extending it using the multi-track parts, first for a sing-along, end-of-night vocal version and then a tasty instrumental take. On the flip, he tries the same with "Le Freak", brilliantly building up the action in layers before unleashing one of the most famous grooves of all time. Guaranteed dancefloor gold.

There are very few editors who could give Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards revisions respectful enough to release but Dimitri From Paris most definitely has the credentials and class. As proved by last year's Chic Remix album on which 10 of Rodgers & Edwards got the precision Parisian kiss. Here are two of the many highlights in full 12" form. Chic's "I Want Your Love" gets a perky energy boost in the kicks while Sister Sledge's "Thinking Of You" retains all the smouldering emotion with a subtle nudge towards both the bedroom and the dancefloor. Loaded with the instrumentals on the B, Glitterbox have delivered once again.
