Moments & Concepts (7:39)
Be Free (6:17)
A Song For Mia (4:15)
Review: When he last released on his own Sistrum label 18 months ago, Patrice Scott served up some serious deep house "Soul Food". This time round, he's concerned with "Moments & Concepts", opening another fine EP with an expansive title track that adds fluid, heart-aching Larry Heard style piano work to a breezy and beautiful backing track rich in snappy machine drums and undulating jazz bass. Over on the flipside, "Be Free" is a fine chunk of organ-driven classic deep house - all delay-laden soul vocal samples, elongated chords and bumpin' beats - while "A Song For Mia" sees the Detroit veteran wrap chilled out chords and lead lines around a head-nodding hip-hop beat.

Allstar MotoMusic - "Not A Place I Call Home" (feat Roger Versey) (6:32)
Alton Miller - "Italio Love" (6:09)
KemeticJust - "Taking Flight" (7:10)
Review: People Of Earth hits release number 20 with Part 2 of The Elements series again offering some super deep sounds from Patrice Scott, Allstar MotoMusic aka Dan Piu, Alton Miller & KemeticJust, which is a cut first released on the old SOCO Audio label. Scott's 'Cycles' kicks off with super deep kicks and heady pads swirling up top, 'Not My Home' (feat Roger Versey) then brings some majestic jazz keys and spiritual vocals and Miller's 'Italio Love' is a strident cut with leggy kicks and celestial pads. KemeticJust's 'Taking Flight' shuts down with more heavy beats but still romantic moods.

Review: Luke Seager is a young, fresh and exciting new prouder from Paris who makes his debut on the French label Beau Mot Plage here having already made waves with his digital outing on Mari.Te's Tresydos. He kicks off with 'Cloud Surfing' which is a nice rigid tech warm up then 'About' Em' brings some silky space-tech vibes with nimbler drums and pads, 'Oystero' keeps the intergalactic feels flowing with more percussive, balmy beats and 'Mean Street' brings a darker, more heads down and back room sound. A Techline TM remix is the moody closer you need for the afters.

Unlikely Companions (Marco Passarani's Nature remix) (6:43)
Review: Secondo is an artist we have long been keen to hear more from so this return to vinyl is welcome indeed. It comes on a hand-stamped white label 12" in the form of 'Unlikely Companions'. This one is a cosmic deep house sound with an alien energy, crispy hits and smeared pads that bring colour and introspection. The drums are well designed to and help make this one as heady as it is cinematic. Marco Passarani's Nature remix on the flip gets a little more warped and dark with unsettling sci-fi ambiance.

Particles (Angelos remix) (6:21)
Review: Secret Echoes, the Mexican trio of Estefani Brolo, Diego Cevallos and Marco Balcazar, are back with 'Particles', a release that builds on their promising 'Bring My Beat Back' debut with Crosstown Rebels. The first track is a deep, groovy journey, led by Brolo's ethereal vocals which blend seamlessly with wonky synths and a rolling rhythm. It's a track that effortlessly flows from introspective moments to dancefloor-ready energy. On the B-side, Greek DJ and producer Angelos gives the track a fresh spin. Known for his Grammy-winning work with Black Coffee, his remix brings a new level of drive and emotion, layering pulsating beats with rich melodies, making it perfect for the late-night crowd. Particles is a great follow-up, offering a glimpse into the trio's upcoming LP. With their unique sound and growing presence, Secret Echoes are showing they're ones to watch in the electronic scene.

Bring My Beat Back (6:07)
Bring My Beat Back (Zombies In Miami remix) (6:20)
Review: Mexican supergroup Secret Echoes make a strong debut on Crosstown Rebels with their single 'Bring My Beat Back'. Comprising the talents of Estefani Brolo, Diego Cevallos and Marco Balcazar, this trio blend their diverse musical backgrounds into a unique fusion of sound that promises to resonate with electronic music fans globally. The main track is a compelling mix of house music foundations, elevated by Brolo's mesmerising vocals, shimmering synths and polished percussion grooves. The result is a silky production that balances classic house elements with modern, dancefloor ready touches. The origins of Secret Echoes trace back to the pandemic, where Cevallos and Balcazar began working on a long-envisioned album. After Brolo joined, the project flourished, leading to the creation of 11 tracks, with 'Bring My Beat Back' catching the eye of Crosstown Rebels founder Damian Lazarus. Adding to the release, Zombies In Miami deliver a remix that infuses the track with neon-lit synths and hazy tones, perfect for late-night sets. An exciting preview of what's to come from Secret Echoes for sure.

Yeah Yeah (7" edit) (4:26)
Review: Serge Funk lies on the intersection of ironic future funk and straight-up clean disco edits, having made a recent name for himself as a wonderkid for disco- and funky-house versions. A re-editor for the diggers as opposed to the bait heads, 'You & I' and 'Yeah Yeah' are utter bangers devoid of much relation to their originals (indeed, there's no way of telling what the samples are without a record buyers' knowledge), in large part thanks to their working into beat-centric structures that drown out the vocals in favour of kick slappage and gut-punchage. Rhythm over theme; keeping things vibey, felt.

Review: German duo Session Victim have always been about much more than just club tracks - their music draws on their playing skills and formal backgrounds so comes alive with meaningful melodies and rich instrumentation that elevates each track above the norm. This new EP on their home label Delusions of Grandeur kicks off with 'Screen Off' (feat Ras Stimulant) which is disco house with bubbly basslines and a retro feel. It also comes as an a cappella and on the flip 'Light The Way' is a seductively smooth cut with Balearic synths and floating pads that will levitate you off the floor. An Iron Curtis Illuminati mix brings starry-eyed electro vibes and his reprise closes out a lush EP.

Got To Find Dub (feat Benedek - bonus track) (6:49)
Review: While much of Mark Seven's work on his Parkway Rhythm label leans into the vocal end of the NYC proto-house/formative garage-house spectrum, his occasional 'Parkwerks' EPs are designed to delight those who prefer stripped-back, synth-heavy dubs of the kind released back in the day by the likes of Paul Simpson, Boyd Jarvis, Winston Jones and Timmy Regisford. There are plenty of "hard, raw and raunchy dubs for DJs" on this belated third instalment, with the Stockholm-based Brit offering up bassline-driven, freestyle-inspired brilliance ('Thrust'), cowbell-laden post-boogie proto-house ('Runnin' Dub') and echo-laden NYC electro ('Time Storm'). He also joins forces with fellow proto-house enthusiast Benedek on the lightly acid-flecked, Chicken Lips style brilliance of closing cut 'Got To Find Dub'.

Verdo - "Boulevardier" (Pedro Bertho remix) (6:29)
Review: Two years ago, Italy's Balearic Gabba Soundsystem switched from remixing and re-editing their favourite cuts to curating compilation style EPs of similarly minded fare. They're in that mode again here, presenting a trio of cuts that combine the saucer-eyed warmth and loved-up musicality of Balearic music culture with grooves and rhythms firmly focused on the dancefloor. They begin by showcasing Wallace's sublime remix of Sewell & The Gong's 'Better Worlds', a locked-in, hypnotising fusion of semi-organic deep house grooves, new age melodic motifs and the dreamiest of ambient chords. Over on the flip they dip into slo-mo Italo-disco/acid house fusion via SIRS fine revision of My Friend Dario's 'Tell Aro', before treating us to a Pedro Bertho remix of Verdo's 'Belvourdier' in which sparkling Balearic house piano riffs, undulating acid lines and mid-80s "chorus" synth sounds rise above a fluctuating synthesiser bassline and hustling beats.

Review: Sgt Slick returns with Vol 3 of the Sgt Slick Recuts series, delivering a fresh batch of disco-infused tracks that are perfect for the dancefloor. On Side-1, 'Upton Upon Purple' blends disco, funk, and new wave into an energetic mix that evokes the vibes of Sheila E. and Prince, making it an ideal choice for high-energy club sessions. 'Missing You Is A Wish' follows with a spirited diva disco vibe, combining a driving beat and infectious rhythm that promises to keep dancers moving all night. Side-2 opens with 'No Cost To Run Youthful Hearts,' where sweeping strings create a lush late-night disco atmosphere. The groove is both sophisticated and hip, perfect for those peak hours. The closing track, 'Owned By Rhythm,' cleverly incorporates a sample from Grace Jones' 'Slave to the Rhythm,' offering a groove that's impossible to resist. Review: Newcomers Shadow Pressings lift the lid on their vinyl releasing schedule with a debutante's bang, welcoming a first four-track EP release crafted by none other than an artist taking the label's name. Taking after Chicago and garage house, A-siders 'The Messiah' and 'It Started In Chicago' impress with their full-bodied reveries and beeping repetitions, but neither match the transcendent stringwork, chord progressive poignancies and vocal samply ingenuity of the B1 'How Does It Feel', sure, by our word, to become a modern classic. 'Changes' closes on an indeterminate progressive mood, bridging the gap between styles in a way we don't think we've heard before.

Review: Frankfurt producer Victor Shan has long been one of Germany's premier rave revivalists, periodically returning to Running Back with EPs that evoke mental images of turn-of-the-'90s warehouse parties and sweat-soaked basement parties illuminated by little more than red lights. His belated return to Gerd Janson's imprint pushes this sonic aesthetic to the fore, with the title being a reference to the Chicago venue of the same name that helped birth house music. It's full-throttle, hands-in-the-air music from the off, where stab-happy, breakbeat-powered stomper 'Abfahrt' is followed by the 'Apache'-sampling excitement of 'Strobelight' and the surging, Italo-style arpeggiated bass of 'Volume Up'. The fun continues on the flip via the moody 'Textura', the lusciously loved-up 'R8000' and the classic Chicago house flex of 'Shifter'.

Review: The latest drop on House Puff finds label boss DJ Steaw teaming up with another kindred spirit for the second in a series of split EPs. Parisian deep house don Steaw has a well-established sound dealing in the kind of headsy, 90s-inspired gear which will never tire, and he's true to that vibe with the bumping garage mood of 'Jazzy Thang' and the smouldering throw down of his 'Brooklyn By Night' mix of 'Le Petit Monsieur'. The A side however is given over to Simon Shaw, who offers up a slick, techy strain of grooves ranging from the chunky warm-up fare of 'Pipes' to the crisp, shuffled daydreamer 'For The Love' - one which slots in perfectly with Paris' undying love affair with minimal tech house.

Review: The super French crew Hard Fist have got a brilliantly twisted new Balearic record on their hands here thanks to the work of Shkema in both original and remix mode. He goes first with the deep, dubby and post-punk moodiness of 'Tas Malonumas' then 'Room Of Men Eaters' is a chugging deep disco cut with a fine vocoder vocal that brings some trippiness. 'Sarka Syrkaza' on the flip is another dark one with twisted metal guitar lines and rooted drum drums, then he remixes Afrodelic's 'Je N'Aime Pas Les Fetes' into a loose-limbed and percussive dub disco delight with filtered and freaky vocals.

So, too is 'XXX' adding some great Chicago style claps with a great vox sample in "Get on up!". If you like Adonis's 'No Way Back' then you are sure to like that one(who doesn't?!'. For the second side the title track is a more eerie romp into the unknown wild. This track is magnetic! Closing out the EP is '2019' that almost sounds like something that should have been on Metroplex in 1985. Robot-funk of the upmost! This EP is some serious business. We can see this rocking some serious dancefloors with ease.

Review: Sidney Charles prides himself on making chunky house music that is raw but underpinned by a slick sense of swing. His Heavy House Society label is where most of it arrives but now he takes a detour to Nick Curly's long-running Cecille. 'Sonar Plexus' is irresistible European house music with razor sharp hi-hats, synth curlicues to soften the edges and precise drum work. 'Universal Highway' has a retro 90s feel - a sense of rushing endorphins and bobbing drum breaks that get hands in the air and 'Fearless' then gets liquid and funky with its effervescing rhythms and tumbling synth sequences. 'Turnover' closes out with a soulful US house feel and completes one of Charles's best-ever EPs.

Feelings (7:57)
Sometimes (6:48)
Review: Berlin's Gooey share a new EP by Siggatunez as part of their Gooey Editz series. 'My Point' evinces the urgency and speediness of the modern dance shapeshifter, with the title track whirling both pianos and acid grunts around a spoken prosopopoeia of the modern dance form's ideal of immediacy, of quick-footedness: "this is my point: we are at a time that we have to make a decision." The exaltation of decision-making has been present in dance music since at least UR's 'Transition', and we hear echoes of the track here, only for the urgency to be dashed by a bonnier sense of breeziness with 'Been Lovin' You'. The B-side offers weirder treats, though neither 'Feelings' nor 'Sometimes' let up on that stated preference for immediacy, the tension on the B1 especially commanding an especially threadheld sense of anticipation.

'Recognition' kicks off with a weighty and dubbed out low end but plenty of drive in the silky pads that loop in colourful patterns. It's a graceful groove which leads into the more lumpy and bubbly dub-tech of 'Sparkling Mouth', a Melchior Productions adjacent sound that is seductively smooth. 'Speak In A Whisper' gets more bitty and abstract with late-night afterparty energy and vinyl crackling bringing it to life. Fedo remixes it with more direct drum funk.

Review: Here's something to get excited about - an unearthed, previously unreleased recording from Philadelphia International group Silk (best known for their soul smash 'I Can't Stop (Turning on You)', with modern club interpretations supplied by housed-up re-edit maestro Late Nite Tuff Guy. The band's original mix, which opens side B, is a gloriously joyful and breezy affair all told, with the group singing in perfect harmony atop a cheery backing track rich in piano riffs, glistening guitars, and a killer groove. Late Nite Tuff Guy delivers two tweaks: an A-side 'Disco Dub' that brilliantly reframes the track as a non-stop nu-disco party anthem that cannily combines the band's original vocals and instrumentation with a far chunkier, weightier, house club-friendly beat, and a suitably similar 'Short Edit' for those who want to get to the point a bit quicker.

When The Foot Falls (6:26)
An Introduction To Frost (7:44)
An Introduction To Frost (Apt E Glacier dub) (8:04)
Review: Simic's contribution to Accessory's eighth release is a masterclass in minimal house that ventures into frosty sonic landscapes. On the A-side, 'Third Dream' opens with delicate precision, utilising airy percussion and sparse melodies that leave plenty of room for the listener's imagination to wander. Its hypnotic, minimal structure feels perfectly at home in a late-night set, inviting dancers to get lost in its clean lines and steady pulse. 'When The Foot Falls' follows, maintaining the minimalist ethos but with a touch more warmth, weaving intricate rhythms into a seamless, immersive journey. The B-side shifts the mood with 'An Introduction to Frost', bringing in the krautrock-inspired textures that lend the record its icy allure. There's a deliberate pace to the track, each layer added carefully, building a shimmering, crystalline atmosphere. This progression is taken a step further with Apt E's 'Glacier Dub' remix, which plunges even deeper into the chill, transforming the original into a dubbed-out, weighty exploration of sound. Apt E's treatment introduces a spaciousness that reverberates with echoes, as if the track is playing out in a vast, frozen cavern. Simic's deft balance of minimalist house and krautrock elements results in a release that is equally suited to introspective listening and dynamic club environments. It's an impressive addition to the Accessory catalogue, showcasing his versatility while remaining rooted in the colder, more experimental corners of electronic music.

The Dub Theory EP

Dub Theory I (5:14)
Dub Theory II (4:41)
Dub Theory III (5:18)
Dub Theory IV (5:15)
Review: Simoncino is like a direct link to the earliest roots of deep house. His sounds are coated in tones of tape hiss, dustiness from his analogue machines, and dreamy synth work that speaks of his Italia heritage. This newest EP is another class outing on Quintessentials that finds him leaning into dub. 'Dub Theory I' is mid-tempo but with nice drive, 'Dub Theory II' has more thunder in the claps and darkness in the bass. 'Dub Theory III' brings shards of melodic light that cut through the muggy atmospheres and 'Dub Theory IV' is a nice Maurizio-style techno roller for early evening or the dead of night.

The Warrior Dances Remixes: Part Two

Do It Again (Gene Hunt remix) (4:26)
Mystery Girl (Merwyn Of Virgo Four mix) (11:12)
Mystery Girl (Merwyn Of Virgo Four dub mix) (3:53)
Review: Originally released early last decade, Simoncino's four-part The Warrior Dance series boasted a mix of inspired original productions and superb remixes. This 12" contains four of the best remixes, all of which first appeared between 2010 and 2012. Ron Trent's EP-opening revision of 'The Warrior Dance' is little less than analogue deep house perfection - all sparse drum machine beats, bittersweet chords, sci-fi synth sounds and the producer's usual emotive piano motifs - while Gene Hunt's take on 'Do It Again' is hypnotic, bass-heavy and reminiscent of Larry Heard's most bittersweet early works. Merwyn of Virgo Four drops two takes on 'Mystery Girl': a raw, analogue-rich deep house main mix, and a sparse, jacking and groove-based Dub.

Here Comes The Sun (Francois K remix) (8:56)
Turn Me On (Tony Humphries Got U Turned On dub) (7:50)
Save Me (Coldcut remix) (6:38)
Review: South Street's latest missive gathers together a trio of club-friendly remixes of Nina Simone classics that first appeared on the 2006 compilation "Remixed & Reimagined". Francois K impresses with an A-side revision of Simone's celebrated cover of Beatles classic "Here Comes The Sun" that sounds like a long lost Larry Heard record from his classic Fingers Inc. period. Those after something a little more rolling and funk-fuelled should wrap their ears around Tony Humphries' Dub of "Turn Me On", which boasts a seductive mixture of Romanthony style hard loops and rumbling, UK garage influenced bass. Completing the package is Coldcut's fine re-imagining of "Save Me", which places Simone's heart-arching vocal atop skittish, club-ready drums and looped guitars.

My Baby Just Cares For Me (Afro Sunset mix) (6:23)
Review: Nina Simone's rendition of 'My Baby Just Cares for Me' stands as a definitive interpretation of this jazz standard, with her distinct, soulful style infusing the track with fresh charm. Originally recorded in 1957, the song gained new life decades later, reaching the UK top ten in 1987 after it appeared in a perfume commercial. Simone's piano work shines, blending playful syncopation with bluesy phrasing, while her voice adds an intimate, deeply expressive layer. Her version transformed this classic into a timeless, iconic piece, reintroducing her genius to a new generation and solidifying her lasting influence in jazz.

Arnau Obiols - "Pagan Mambo" (5:04)
Review: On this sampler EP for the Razor N Tape label's latest Family Affair compilation, the Brooklyn based imprint showcases previously unheard cuts from a mixture of new artists and long-established names. In the latter camp you'll find long-serving deep house don Vincenzo, who delivers the gorgeous, tactile and loved-up deliciousness of 'Love Accurate', and Croatian nu-disco don Ilya Rudman (the acid-heavy dancefloor squelch of 'Discoteka Parmida'). Elsewhere, Yasmin impresses with the neo-soul/nu-disco fusion warmth of 'Real High', Arnau Obiols slams down the Fela-influenced Afrobeat excellence of 'Pagan Mambo', and label co-founder J Kriv turns Bessa Simons 'Si Naana' into an Afro-tinged analogue house treat

Flying Moth - "Edith" (2:55)
Review: Since its inception in 2023, Soul Quest Records has released some superbly deep and soulful records. To prove the point, the Hackney-based label has decided to serve up a compilation style EP featuring fresh cuts from current artists and new signings. Max Sinal joins forces with King Crowney and vocalist Liv East on the ultra-deep, super soulful warm-up sounds of 'Intentions', before Slxm Sol cannily combines loose-limbed drums, warming bass, sensitive chords, tactile Rhodes keys and soulful vocal snippets on 'NYBB'. Hitch 93 doffs a cap to Chez Damier on the excellent 'Uno Dos Tres Four', Rob Reckford delivers some bright MPC-house action ('Garden Party'), and Soul Grooves goes deep, gently dubby and spacey ('Blues Kitchen'). The gentle broken house sunniness of 'Edith' by Flying Moth completes a fine EP.

Janis Zielinski X Sowhy3 - "In Your Eyes" (4:33)
Morphena - "Venus Underworld" (5:42)
Zoe Zoe - "Palikau Dzemperi" (5:07)
Review: The eighth instalment in Running Back's playful Hits! series arrives with a globetrotting batch of quirky dancefloor charmers, spanning interstellar disco, Italo throwbacks and Berlin School eccentricity. Kicking things off, Skatman leans into sleazy synth funk and smoky melodrama with 'What I Am Feelin'', a crooning synth-pop number pitched somewhere between space cabaret and Metro Area. Baron Von Traxian Australian prince of peaktime pompibrings glitzy melancholy with 'If I Only Knew', layering ascending Italo arps and soft pads over a chugging disco pulse. Janis Zielinski and Sowhy3 (both Berlin-based) turn in 'In Your Eyes' twiceifirst as a vocal daydream of euro-pop yearning, then as a sleek instrumental. Morphena's 'Venus Underworld' dials up the noir with icy stabs and new wave propulsion, while Zoe Zoe's 'Palikau Dzemperi' signs off with a Tangerine Dream-style glide repurposed for the club. There's no unifying concept, but as with earlier volumes, that's the point: a polychrome snapshot of Running Back's curious, cosmopolitan world.

Review: Noah Skelton returns to Daydream with a fresh new excursion into the itchy shuffles of the deep tech variety, tempered with a one-off contribution in the vein of dreamy breaks. Examples of the first style include the tracks 'Hammajang', 'Blind', and 'First Remark', all of which bring an extra slice of texture to an already minimal headroom, which is still maintained despite the textural decorations. 'Aurora' is the wildcard, opting for sizzling breaks constructions, breathy vocal segues and a resonant pad line.

City Cathedratics (Karmasound remix) (4:45)
Review: Skygaze has some recent tunes remixed on this new Flumo Limited 12" and the results are nice and varied. The opener is from Allysha Joy who flips 'Night Heat' into a lively broken beat run through with warming and soulful synths and a sprinkling of percussion. 'Gimme Five' (Jailed Jamie & Lorenzo Soria remix) then ups the ante with a party-starting house vibe and fiery stabs. 'Wagwan' gets a fresh dose of broken beats from Divorce From New York that will have you flailing your limbs in all directions and Sofatalk & Footnote then keep things a little deeper with their jazzy and sun-kissed take on 'Minor Mood'. 'City Cathedratics' is the final cut and becomes a cosmic and heady, percussive and shimmering late-night sound thanks to the work of Karmasound remix.
