Review: After this pair of Leeds residents made waves last November with their first EP for Pilot, Bobby O'Donnell and Reeshy return to lay down four new tracks that definitely stray towards the electro end of the breaks/electro spectrum. There's a sense of continuity, as the first EP's tracks - labelled 1-4, are followed by tracks 5-8, as well as being executed with a proper human touch that not all such machinefunk can boast. '6' is full of spiralling Drexciyan mystery, before being pared down to an LFO-style bass prod. '8' also echoes the former legends of Leeds with its dreamy pads and acid backdrop - something in the local water supply. Definitely funky enough to keep the breaks DJs onside, but with a thorough knowledge of love of 40 years of electronic music heritage at its disposal too, this is one release you should make sure you not miss.

Review: Following his recent impressive release for Animals On Psychedelics,2 is the second appearance of rising Ukrainian talent Volodymyr Gnatenko on Treviso, Italy's Where We Met. It opens with the moving twilight breaks of 'Een' on the A-side, followed by the evocative slo-mo beats of 'Twee'. Review: British producer, party set designer and DJ Angel D'Lite is known for her sickly sweet and high energy mixes and solo work. An avid vinyl collector and happy hardcore indulger, '303 Dalmations' feels like biting into a sour sweet and the headrush from the sugar high thereafter. 'Just Trippin' and '7am' are evocative of the 90s records that D'Lite digs for in her local shops and collection and are bubbly dance tracks with classic breakbeats (Producers will recognise the opening amen break vocal sample on 'Liquid Skies' very well). The feel of the EP is a classic club experience, and you can't help but dance along and smile - as D'Lite says herself "Happy Hardcore is good for the soul".

Review: To celebrate the 25th birthday of their celebrated debut album, A New Sound Spectacular, the Belgian band has decided to offer-up this selection of long-forgotten remixes of two tracks from the set, '2Wicky' and 'Inhaler', both of which were originally released on now delated 12" singles. The A-side highlight is undoubtedly DJ Pulse's terrifically spacey drum & bass revision of '2Wicky', though the heavy trip-hop psychedelia of the 'Not So Extended Hoovering' version is also surprisingly good. Over on the flip, you'll find two more D&B-inspired takes on 'Inhaler': a wonderfully deep and jazzy 'Mr Pink' revision courtesy of Pierre Job AKA Hector Zazou, and the band's own string-laden 'Drum & Orch' revision.

Review: The second drop on Ouroboros Ltd comes from Grey Pantone, aka Berlin-based producer Andres, making his debut release with this assured package of uptempo tech-funk rollers. 'Acid Break' is an instructive title, but the track is finely balanced between warm synth touches and some nimble 303 action darting around a light-footed breakbeat. 'Get Down' is a crisp electro workout with the snappiest of 808 lines driving the expressive splashes of melody, and 'Gypsy Drumming' turns up the heat with a busy cut that's equal parts squelchy and soulful. S Moreira steps up for a remix of 'Acid Break' which draws on the fractured power of half time dubstep to create a refreshing alternative to the original version.

Review: Emotional Response present something intriguing and oh so fresh from Cherrystones, who has most commonly been spotted recently lurking about labels like Bahnsteig 23, but in fact has a legacy reaching back to the late 90s. This new mini-album is reportedly the result of a pointed retreat to Scotland - a period of semi-isolation with minimal distractions from the serious business of analogue synths and reel-to-reel tape. There's a lot going on, from the slinky, boogie-licked groove of 'Amaziac' to the sludgy, wave tinted 'Rave Digger', but throughout the common theme is one of rough, upfront waveforms - maximal sounds with lashings of character, wielded with glee by an artist knee deep in their craft.

Review: KW has long been a talented producer who has operated in the shadows. He emerges from them now with another EP on Ilian Tape only six or so months after his last standout effort. Altgr is another fine one that opens with 'Midnight Run', a skittish flurry of breakbeats and snares, grumbling bass and kinetic energy that never lets up. 'Paste' is just as rhythmically inventive, this time lurching backwards and forwards but with more pensive pads and 'Copy' keeps up the leftfield inventions that make this return so welcome. 'Lastmin_Res' closes out in head-spinning fashion.

Review: London-based label Telum recently launched the offshoot label Aurum, that's into its second release which comes from Rominimal hero Nu Zau. On the A-side, you've got the groovy broken beat microhouse of 'Break Me' which is totally made for getting weird at the after hours, while over on the flip he goes for a couple more tunes which are more straight ahead. First up is the heady minimal funk of 'Everytime' which gets the job done in typically lean and subtle fashion, followed by the emotive Sunday morning sunrise vibes of 'R U Ready'. Tip!

He has a room packed with gear - drum machines, samplers, keyboards - and he sure knows how to jam on each piece if this new EP is anything to go by on Basic Moves. Review: Undercurrent is an artist based in LA and a New Palm resident who shows his studio skills across a trio of new cuts here. 'Beliefs' is a loopy breakbeat roller with jittery rhythms that lock you into their loops and keep you there. 'No Data' is similar but more punchy, with real edge and drive in the breaks while fat bass stabs power things along from below. The same track then gets a remix from Charlie Edward that is more spaced out with searching synths and a more rubbery bassline. Last of all is a floating ambient cut that eventually has a jungle breakbeat rise up through the mix to take you into the next dimension.

Review: The latest from Burnski's Vivid label is a three way split, six track affair with Oldboy, Xander and Longeez each dispatching a pair of tunes in the label's trademark roughneck breakbeat style. - Oldboy kicks off proceedings with the speedy junglisms of 'Blackbird' before the chunkier, funkier and a little more traditionally paced breaks heft of 'Walrus Party'. Xander's 'If I Tell EM' and 'Get To The Point' both plays off two step rhythmic twists and menacing bass against dreamy synths and more breakbeaty flourishes, before Longeez closes proceedings with the slightly sparser 'Evermore' - super sharp hi hats and echoing rasta dialogue - and the appropriately spinback-peppered 'Wheel Up'.

Review: The next electro exploration from the infamous DMX Krew comes in the form of 'Blue Bob', which scours the genre's less bangerific backwaters. The four tracks on this new EP her for Further Electronix centre on everything from the weezy, to the gaseous, to the strange. 'Ambient Freak' does what it says on the tin, working as one of Krew's most minimal cuts to date; its noir synth strings and piquey melodic motifs sound like the soundtrack to a space-age murder mystery, as we try to decipher who killed Zog with what; a laser-blaster? a lightsaber? a photon torpedo? 'Clean The Stylus' and are 'Blue Blob' further sci-fi pleasantries, with icy blue notes and propulsive FM basses gluing it all together.

Review: A couple of years back, the revitalised Hooj Choons label released an album of orchestra-sporting covers of classic dance cuts of the 1990s under the HEO: Hooj Ensemble Orchestra tag, then got rave revivalists Borai and Denham Audio to remix their new version of trance classic 'Cafe Del Mar'. Here those mixes - a frankly filthy, bass-propelled 'Rave Booty' mix and a more acid-flecked, grandiose breakdown-sporting 'Pluck Dub' - finally make it onto wax, alongside the Club Glow duo's similarly previously digital-only reworks of Transformer 2's early 90s 'Hooj' classic 'Fruit of Love'. More tactile and loved up, with tactile bass, pleasing pianos and glassy-eyed vocal snippets, the pair's 'Redux' mix is simply sublime, while Borai's solo dub is a deliciously dreamy, rush-inducing affair that sounds like a future rave classic.

Review: Frankey & Sandrino are a mighty pair who know how to lay down compelling tech sounds. They unite once more here for a powerful two-tracker on the legendary Berlin-based Rekids label. First up is 'Brainscan' which is dark and moody, with futuristic synths and stark vocals over a rolling, tense bassline. On the flip is 'Condesa' which is a much more loose affair with broken beat drums and 80s synth lines. It has a post-rave 90s feel but updates for modern dance floors. Both tunes are likely to get plenty of plays this winter.

Review: Brako continues to go it alone with self-titled releases on a self-titled label, and why not? When the tunes are this good you don't need the extra boost of a big name label. There are just two of them on this punchy EP, the first being 'Bandit' which has a snaky bassline and loose-limbed groove. It is run through with spaced out pads, gurgling cosmic lines and silky hooks that are finished to perfection with a great neo-soul vocals. On the flip, 'Police' is a more dubbed-out and stripped-back tune with elastic rhythms and heady pads. Great work.

Review: Breakbeat will never die, and we know this for a fact, so long as EPs like 'Breakbeater' continue to be released. Homing on the style's audiophilic edges, producer Paradox produces something squarely in the middle of classic breakbeat hardcore, drum n' bass and breakstep here, with the title track needing little but womping kicks, ultra-designed breaks and the occasional whispery vocal sample and bass lick to satiate our cravings for the sound. The B, 'Detronic', deconstructs the trope even further, dubbifying the break's metallic 2-stepping edge by plunging it into Basic Channel-esque ricochets.

Review: A decade after establishing their Feel My Bicep label, Bicep continue to showcase the work of talented producers, many born and raised on the island of Ireland. They're at it again here, offering up a fantastic four-tracker from Shine Belfast resident Swoose. Title track 'Breathe' is gorgeousness personified - an immersive, tactile and wide-eyed slab of sunrise-ready deep house colour rich in kaleidoscopic chords, shuffling breakbeats, deep bass and ear-pleasing lead lines. On 'Hyphae', Swoose doffs a cap to vintage Orbital releases, peppering an early-to-mid-90s UK techno groove with gorgeous melodies and even more picturesque pads. The accompanying remixes are excellent, too, with Kessler's breakbeat hardcore-goes-deep house tweak of 'Breathe', and Peach's rubbery, near 140 BPM rework of 'Hyphae' both hitting the spot.

With the attention reaching fever pitch, he's unleashed one of the biggest cuts on the LP. Hooking up with the dollar-hungry Aloe Blacc, it's a horn-heaving slice of hip-hop funk that pushes all the right buttons. "Tough Break" is a double-time deal sealer. Review: The Vivid label is yet another one from Burnski who also runs Constant Blanc and Instinct. He is s single handed garage hit making machine and he knows how to tap into the next gen, too. Here he calls upon Peaky Beats for a naughty and nasty three track affair that has retro feels but contemporary style. 'Can't Stop' opens up with a 2-step shuffle and steely hits, then 'Get Ready' gets more free and melodic with some boxing little melodic patterns and oscillating bass. Last of all is the most menacing and dark - 'Wildcat' flips into a dub wise swagger mid-way through that is going to blow up the clubs.

Review: It's five up for the CCCP Edits label which deals in serving up nicely reworked jams from house and disco's past. The eponymous and mysterious production team is in fine form here with four more cuts out of Russia that all have Cyrillic names but have been transliterated for English audiences which means '??? ???? ????' becomes 'Moi Drug Tima'. It's a funky cut with house and disco elements over a punchy break. 'Ektoplazma' is rugged electro that races through the stars and 'BBC' is a heavyweight tech-house stomper. 'Choovak' closes with more rough-edged grooves.

Review: The Craft Music label is back after a one year break with some fresh new cuts by resident Marco Lazovic. It's an EP inspired by the sound of the English club scene in the nineties and noughties, labels like Good Looking Records and artists such as Mike Millrain. Opener 'Losin Control' sure is a compelling mix of electro and breaks that soars on cosmic lines with euphoric vocals in the distance. 'Come To London' has a distinctly garage feel to it with its crisp broken beats and there is more high energy but melody-rich breakbeat action in 'Dark Gravity' while 'Space Jazzy' is s super sweet and deep jungle cruiser.
