Acid Washed & Arnaud Rebotini - "Brandtaucher" (7:19)

Commando Variete - "Sylvidres" (3:50)
Rambal Cochet - "Oseary Drakoulias" (5:13)
Mount Kismet - "Sirocco" (7:02)
Danton Eeprom - "L'Homme Canon" (5:59)
Review: Stop yourself in for another rugged ride through electro and techno from the vanguard here as Thisbe Recordings serves up a fifth fantastic slab of wax. It's a fine various artists affair that kicks off with Acid Washed and the legendary Arnaud Rebotini. Their 'Brandtaucher' is a polished metal and electro tinged disco cut with bleeping melodies. Seb El Zin then keeps it real raw with 'Lingua Minimalista' and the energy doesn't dip on Rambal Cochet's flip side opener 'Oseary Drakoulias' races to the star on slap funk bass and cruising melodies. Mount Kismet's 'Sirocco' rides on rugged arps and last of all Danton Eeprom's 'L'Homme Canon' slows right down to an electro-funk and boogie down workout.

Roman & Boyd Chidt - "Self-Deprivation" (6:13)
Silent Servant - "Manic" (4:56)
Unhuman & Vulkanski - "Mescaline Network" (6:05)
Review: Khidi rolls out another anniversary EP here and it is another various artists affair that takes no prisoners. On their opener, Ancient Methods & OTHR bring some hellish metal and industrial overtones to the stomping, vicious 'Vast Vanishing' with its horror-core vocals. Roman & Boyd Chidt don't let up but offer a more linear and streamlined bit of stomping techno pressure. Silent Servant unleashes lashings of metallic synths over his signature tech sounds and then the floating loops of Unhuman & Vulkanski suspend you just above a rusty old factory floor.

Bart Skils - "Solid State" (6:49)
Alex Lentini & STOMP BOXX - "Expanders" (6:49)
SAMA - "Into The Abyss" (8:11)
Review: The mighty Drumcode is back with more big room business techno. This time out the Swedish behemoth looks to three different artists for Volume 10 of their A Sides Vinyl. Bart Skills does not muck about on his 'Solid State,' laying down driving kicks and machine gun synths. Alex Lentini & STOMP BOXX then bust your speakers with their distorted synth loops and rock solid kicks and lastly SAMA takes you 'Into The Abyss' on shuffling deep techno drums with mind melting motifs looping ad infinitum up top. Three different sounds, all equally effective.

Bart Skils - "West Of The Moon" (7:09)
Secret Cinema & Reinier Zonneveld - "Pain Thing" (6:41)
Pig & Dan - "Pushing On" (6:56)
Juliet Fox - "Wanted Me" (6:57)
Review: Over two decades into its lifespan, Adam Beyer's Drumcode imprint keeps evolving and excelling, pushing techno forward while remaining wholly respectful of its roots. On Part 3 of A Sides Vol 7, Beyer brings in the scene's top guns to expertly execute some main room peak-time action. On the first side, it's an undeniably Dutch affair with Amsterdam hero Bart Skils stepping up to deliver the deeply hypnotic tunnel vision of "West Of The Moon", while veterans Secret Cinema & Reinier Zonneveld deliver the darkly druggy dancefloor drama of "Pain Thing". On the flip, Pig & Dan should need no introduction and are in fine form as always on the adrenalised "Pushing On" while ascendant Aussie Juliet Fox similarly impresses on "Wanted Me".

Blasha & Allatt - "8am In Salford" (6:01)
Phil Berg - "Dispatched" (5:56)
Spekki Webu - "Elevation" (6:55)
Ipeo - "Expander" (7:12)
Review: An international EP comp from Positivesource, the four tracks contained on this monstrous hard trance compendium are like sonic wake-up slaps. '8am In Salford' by Blasha and Allatt, while not elucidating where in Salford they're alluding to, certainly conjures all sorts of images of famous rave venue The White Hotel, with its alternating strobe lights and menacing size. The production on every track here is massive, each one emphasizing its kicks and percussion before weaving in additional melodic layers. Spekki Webu's 'Elavation' is the best techno tune we've heard in a while too; it's not often you hear such a well-rounded unity of sounds glued so tightly together.

Tribe One (6:04)
Review: Ilian Tape welcomes long-time Swiss mainstay Deetron here returning to an old project, Soulmate. It finds the veteran in top form from the off with 'Monophone Dub' taking off at real pace. The techno drums are overlaid with jumbled percussion and underline with sleek bass, then 'In Main' gets even heavier but no less funky. The tunneling techno vibe continues on 'Reflection' with its thumping kicks and more layers of toms, hits and shakers and 'Tribe One' closes with another upright, linear, pumping percussive techno groove for the peak time. This EP shows a different and equally compelling side to Deetron's sound.

Stigma - "End Of The Data" (5:15)
Do Or Die - "Drk101" (6:12)
Lapucci - "Mystic Beat" (5:49)
Review: Like its' two predecessors, this third EP from the shadowy Cimedirapax label offers-up brand-new cuts from a multitude of little-known producers and rising stars. The compilation-style EP is led by Elias, who impresses with the hybrid electro/techno/acid brilliance of 'Dance Deceiver', whose moody motifs, sci-fi chords and twisted acid lines are enticing in the extreme. Stigma then steps up with the retro-futurist electro urgency of 'End of the Data' - all mutant sounds, body-popping beats, fizzing synth sounds and vintage EBM chords - before label regulars Do Or Die join the dots between TB-303 fired insanity and Nitzer Ebb on 'Drk101'. To round off a quietly impressive EP, Lapucci delivers the subtly new beat-influenced throb of 'Mystic Beat'.

Review: Spanish label Sungate has become a truly buy on sight label thanks to its eye-catching artwork by Abel Fdez and scores of quality digital and vinyl releases from the likes of Jozef K & Tinman, Iori, Skudge and many more. Their latest release comes from Estrato Aurora, who you might have spotted on Bliq, and his frequent collaborator Siarem. Between them, the pair whip up a classy strain of minimally-minded electro which locks into simmering, understated beats and uses subtle atmospheric touches rather than the usual punchy synth leads and basslines you commonly associate with the genre. It's a fresh approach which serves them well, and also gives devoted electro DJs some interesting tools for tweaking the energy in a set without losing the essence of the sound.

Alan Fitzpatrick - "Eleven Eleven" (7:09)
Review: We Are The Brave (WATB), owned by inimitable DJ and waxmaker Alan Fitzpatrick, here presents their very first physical release from the man himself. Two collabs with hard trance legends Rebuke and Sasha lend this four-piece a very hard edge; the first bit, of course, is called 'Ultimate Distortion', and hears farting buildups and huge leads inevitably scoop out rooms the world over - that reese though! Hard big room dub techno ensues on 'El Jefe', while voguing electro house ('I Still Remember') and a slapping slab of deep tech house ('Eleven Eleven') round off the B.

Review: Right on cue, Rene Pawlowitz drops another set of Head High bangers just in time for summer. While previous releases from his much-loved Power House imprint have been short but sweet affairs, the brilliantly named Megatrap offers a full nine tracks of what Hard Wax have referred to quite concisely as "uplifting Breakbeat Techno in golden 1990s leaning style". Those who have heard the previous Head High material will know exactly what to expect, but there's still much excitement to be had in getting stuck into such a sizeable portion of throwback techno, the likes of which are likely to liven up any party. There was never any doubt, but Pawlowitz has done it again.

DVS1 - "In The Middle" (6:39)
Trevino - "Sombre Tones" (4:53)
Review: The good chaps over at Hardwax, Klockworks' own distribution network, are calling this a "perfectionist techno compilation" and, in their own words, it comes "warmly recommended". We agree with both of statements, and believe this to be a fine piece of work from the Ben Klock collective. Perhaps listeners won't hear anything drastically game-changing in here, but it is certainly all dance music of the highest calibre, from a collection of artists who have truly crafted a neat and elegant vision of techno music. On this double, the first in an upcoming series, there's a mixture of old and new faces all coming together to showcase the sound they've been so close to over the years; the wonderful Sterac makes an appearance with a refreshingly off-kilter blur of dub techno on "Lately", while Ben Klock himself comes through with the ice-cold bleeps of "Twenty", and the mighty DVS1 blasts out some penetrative percussion folds on "In The MIddle. Trevino rocks the boat with "Sombre Tones", whereas relative newcomers Etapp Kyle and Jon Hester turn in their own 5am bullets.

Substance - "Keine Angst" (5:53)
Review: Last year Berlin institution Ostgut Ton marked their ten-year anniversary with an extensive 30 track compilation housed across the width of ten 12"s and packed neatly in a rather fancy looking box set. Long since sold out, Ostgut have done the right thing by commencing a series of individual 12" reissues featuring all of the music for the label fans who missed out first time around. After Eins and Zwei, we arrive at Zehn / Drei which features a triplet of modern techno productions from four of the label's closest associates. Up top Len Faki remixes the LB Dub Corp and Function collaboration "Roller", adding a subtle few notches of intensity to the original, whilst Dave Sumner goes alone on the lead B-side track "DX3_Analog_Bass_Seq". Lastly Substance aka DJ Pete offers up "Keine Angst," a fleet-footed tribal stomper and jacking vocal samples.

Frank A - "18.11.13" (7:06)
Sunaas - "Recall That" (6:55)
HearThuG - "Feel A Thing" (7:42)
Review: New year, new label: Visolux enters the fray with a cultured vinyl offering that serves up four tunes from four different artists. Jamie Leather opens up with the wavy deep techno of 'Adventures In The Machine' which is laden with zippy synths and nice melodic motifs. Frank A's '18.11.13' is much more direct with bulbous basslines and hammering hits and drums getting you into a state of hypnosis. There is then a nice tripped out downtempo cut straight from 90s chill-out room by Sunaas, and last of all are the acid twitches and hefty old-school techno sounds of HearThuG's 'Feel A Thing.'

The latest artists to step up to tweak the hugely successful formula are Alex Lentini and Stomp Boxx. hey pair up on four fresh cuts that right from the off show some nice invention, with fizzing textures and wooden, block beats defining 'Solstice.' 'Split The Noise' is all about those big, panel beaten techno drum loops and 'Azimuth' surges forwards on waves of static electricity with some neat synth bubbles hidden within. Review: Spanish producer Alex Martin went under many aliases since the early '90s, many of which are featured here on this EP packed full of unreleased classics from his archives which come to you courtesy of O.C.D (Open Channel For Dreamers). As A3K, the Barcelona-based veteran released only two EPs between '98 - '99, but the never before heard exclusive 'Left Blank' kicks off the A side, followed by 'Offtune' under his Sideral alias where he traversed genres diverse as techno, acid and even trance. On the flip, he presents some early UK tech house flavour on 'Pilot' and some intelligent Detroit techno similar to Carl Craig on 'I'm Still There' (as Iberian).

This follows up some great releases by the likes of Boy Harsher, Scratch Massive and The Hacker in recent times. Berlin's Melania (Aufnahme + Wiedergabe) kicks off proceedings in style, with the brooding body music of "Underage", Grenoble's Crystal Geometry delivers the factory floor sounds of "Hammer On The Flag" (reminiscent of legends Test Department) and label bosses Vanessa Asbert and Nico Cabanas don their Synths Versus Me moniker for some deeply sinister gothic electronics on "The Dubdancer.

The Manchester-based label's objective is to avoid the saturation of music / plastic pollution since 1996 and their brand new vinyl 12" release to celebrate their latest milestone celebrating the deeper underground dance music sound of their city is finally here. Review: Coming through with a steamrolling selection of techno tracks form the underbelly of Berlin's scene, it's the second chapter of the Klocksworks 20! Once again, newcomers and vintage favourites align on this collection of "perfectionist" techno; New debuts with the militant bass waves of "Dance Of The Warrior", while Holland's mighty Dax J turns in a violent wave of 90s reminiscent techno on "Late Night MIstress". The hyped-up ROD's "Extra" offers an unexpected wave of ambient delight, whereas Steve Rachmad aka Sterac returns with "Scientific Methods" in what is a shivering gunshot of industrial bleakness. Troy's "Flux", as the name suggests, hypnotises the dance floor with its heavy wash of drums and grey-scaled bass, leaving legend Heiko Laux to head for the dub wise flow on the masterfully deranged and distorted waves of "Dark Fader".

Stasis - "Tau" (6:01)
Review: For the second missive on his recently launched Fencepiece label, Steve Pickton has delved into his archives and dusted down a trio of cuts from the early days of his career in the mid 1990s. On the A-side you'll find two tracks first featured on his 1994 debut album as Phenomyna, "Unexplained": the crunchy, deep space techno/electro fusion of "Travellor" [sic] and the deeper, warmer sci-fi electro flex of "From Afar". Over on the flip, there's another chance to enjoy the superb "Tau", which originally closed his first solo Stasis album, "Inspiration", way back in 1995. It's a spacious and ear-pleasing affair that wraps lilting synth-strings and bubbly, Detroit techno style electronic motifs around a skittish, futurism-inspired techno beat.

Review: Porn Sword Tobacco and SUED co-founder SVN team up again for more smoked out excursions in futuristic deepness, this time on their own amusingly named label Recording. Side A is in (typically) lo-fi and dusty fashion that you'd expect from the pair, you can almost hear the tape fuzz and 'maybe' hear the lighter going off in the background, amongst the hypnotic bongo rhythms, the subdued field recordings and random sound design but that's what gives these loopy and minimalist DJ tools their charm. On the flip there's some downbeat and emotive expressions in techno soul on "Recording 3" with its wandering bleeps and woozy pads sounding like they got in the studio and dabbed with Derrick May circa '88, while "Recording 4" has the most dance floor dynamic in all its druggy and reductionist glory. It's like what they say about Leipzig: it's really great, just keep it a secret!

We get what they're saying. One of the EP's greatest strengths is the way the intricate details and subtle layers of Saine's productions creep up on you on the third, fourth or fifth listen. It gives all four cuts a super-deep feel, putting them somewhere between lovely warm-up workouts, horizontal home listening fare and Sprinkles style peak-time hypnotism. Highlights include the sunset-ready jazz-house fluidity of "Swirl", the undulating, wonderfully picturesque ambient shuffle of "Saw U" and the dub-techno influenced soundscape flex of "Babel".

He's still going: the name 'Dedicated' should reflect as much. This EP is a functional collection of euphoric house tracks ranging from the pianoified to the dubbed-out, verging on lean-ins to hi-tech soul. 'Europa' is the choice cut, a nearly kickless, moody groover.

Review: Up next for Adam Beyer's esteemed Drumcode imprint is Enrico Sangiuliano, a Milan based DJ/producer originally from Reggio Emilia who has been been active on the Italian scene since the early noughties, playing everywhere from clubs to illegal raves. His work of late has been released on sister label Truesoul, Alleanza, Gem Records, Octopus Recordings and Rhythm Converted. On "Moon Rocks", Sangiuliano provides a euphoric, hands in the air anthem with soaring synth leads and seriously humming Reese bassline over a high octane beat. Also on the A side is the mad diva vocal breakdown on "Ghettoblaster" which soon gives way to a dark and tunnelling epic. Finally on the flip, we have two versions of "Dutch Kiss" but for our money it's all about the sombre and emotive IDM vibe of the Inner remix.

Orca Silent - "Act IV" (9:38)
Martinou - "Epilogue" (3:07)
Review:  Lost In Translation's debut release, Anthroposcene, is a vital coming together of various artists each with their own take on ambient. It is all airy soundscapes and lo-fi pads to start with from Saphileaum's 'Prologue' while Alfred Czital & Moon Patrol bring in some silky broken beats and warped electronics on 'Act I.' Human Space Machines's 'Act II' is deep rolling techno bliss and on the flip, we get everything from cavernous underwater soundscapes to Orca Silent's edgy dub 'Act IV' and Martinou's soothing closer 'Epilogue.'

Review: In 1735, Swedish scientist Carl Linneaus theorised the hierarchical classes of the natural world, paving the way for modern taxonomy as we know it. In tributary fashion, 012 Records, hailing from Berlin, present the second edition of 'Systema Naturae II', an EP series dedicated to Linnaeus and nature. Dub techno tropes, bioorganic ambient tones and knocks and delays abound.

Negative Spaces (5:40)
Review: Swiss duo Savage Grounds released their first three records on Lux Rec: of which one of the members (Daniele Cosmo) is the label boss. Their new EP is the first release to come out externally - in this instance it's for Dutch retroverts Enfant Terrible who have unleashed works by Stattseinde, Europ Europ and LCN of late. Cosmo and partner in crime CCO have created a sound of their own: a style which combines elements of techno, electro, EBM, acid and industrial. The duo have been known to record their jams in one take using only the bare essentials of quality analogue gear, mainly by Roland. It starts off on the A side with the slow burning and guttural analogue punk of "Concrete Tunnels" which you could imagine Helena Hauff playing. Speaking of which, the B side cut "Wall Of Rubber" is is a gritty acid epic which wouldn't sound out of place on her Return To Disorder imprint. Finally, the haunting electro goth of "Negative Spaces" will appeal to fans of legendary labels like Viewlexx or Kommando 6.

Review: Thomas Schumacher returns to Electric Ballroom, showcasing his trademark combination of high energy, no-nonsense techno. The title track 'No Rules Involved' is everything hardcore techno should be, the synths pack a serious punch, especially on the back end of the track, with a build to drop that is straight perfection - destined for Tomorrowland. 'Blakkout' is a more acidic affair, conjuring up pictures of wild nights in Berghain. This 12" is a 1-2 knockout.

Somebody Scream (5:35)
Review: Serious big room techno here from longtime German producer and DJ Thomas Schumacher. 'Jibaro' is more symbolic of what the artist has been doing more recently for labels like Electric Ballroom. Simply two tracks on wax, destined to intoxicate floor-goers. The A-side tune is centred on a horrifically phasey and distorted lead synth in its pre-drop buildup, the sort of apocalyptic sound that has enraptured new club artists in recent years. 'Somebody Scream', meanwhile, is more refreshingly stooped in an oldskool sonic tradition, with rave stabs that sound like they've borrowed from early breakbeat hardcore.

Review: The seventh volume of Drumcode's annual A-Sides compilation hits with no less than 10 debuts for the label, with topline artists releasing their maiden productions on the imprint. Over two decades into its lifespan, Adam Beyer's label keeps evolving and excelling, pushing techno forward while remaining wholly respectful of its roots. On this volume, German techno legend Thomas Schumacher delivers one of his best tracks in a while on the brooding peak time onslaught "The Unseen" which brings the distinct sound of Bremen in to 2018. Ascendant Brazilian DJ Victor Ruiz impresses as always with the melodic and hypnotic "Pulso", before former Radio 1 host B.Traits closes with the chugging factory floor stomp of "I Feel The Music".

Review: Self-proclaimed "techno body music" duo Schwefelgelb seem a neat fit with Cititrax, the Minimal Wave sub-label set up to handle contemporary electronic music rather than reissues. There's something particularly muscular, robust and otherworldly about their label debut, which remarkably is their first EP of original tracks for two years. Opener "Die Dunne Hand" sets the tone, with the pair conjuring up a throbbing, mind-altering EBM-funk workout that sounds like an unlikely Nitzer Ebb cover version of the KLF's "What Time Is Love", while "Auf Die Erde" sees them wrap crunchy percussion and dystopian vocal snippets around a surging EBM bassline. Side B begins with the stripped-back metallic mutant funk of "Die Augen Gehen", before the duo dives into chugging, flash-fried industrial/electro/techno fusion on the mind-bending "Das Blid Das Wiederkehrt".

Textural jungles of drum, dub delay and all manner of dark and light sonic magicks combine, to make something truly special here; don't miss part 1, too, for an introductory astral projection to this wonderful series.

Review: Under the Second Story alias, Alex Storey has always been good at joining the dots between vintage electro, Rephlex-style braindance, IDM and modern British bass music. He's at it again on this latest EP for longtime home Houndstooth. So, while "Grand Rapid" rattles along at a ghetto-tech pace, its' sub-bass pulse and intergalactic textures recall Drexciya at their robust best. These electro influences come to the fore on the shimmering, starburst strut of "Bismuth" and deliciously saucer-eyed "Vapor Valve", while "Helicat" packs more Star Wars-inspired funk into its' too-short duration than many would think humanly possible.

Review: Packed with percussive energy, thrusting basslines and mind-altering electronic motifs, this collaboration between long-serving Swede Patrick Seich and rising star Sandra Mosh deserves to be heard by far more than the Drumcode faithful. The pair set their stall out on EP opener 'Rhythmic Reflection', where whispered vocal snippets and psychedelic acid lines rise above breathless techno drums and a throbbing sequenced bassline, before opting for a dark, wayward and more intense techno sound on 'Synchrony'. They intensify their collaborative sound further on 'PPMV1', in the process making great use of twisted electronic riffs and hissing ride cymbals, while closing cut 'Soft Light' brilliantly fuses creepy electronic melodies, trance-inducing TB-303 lines, bouncy drums and clandestine chords.

Here he returns to vinyl for the first time in four years, serving up eight tracks stretched across a 12" and 10". There's much to admire, from the broken techno-meets-Moon B loveliness of "French Deimar", and classic tech-jazz of "Deep", to the spacey ambient experimentalism of "Dickinsdontile", and punchy electro of "Wenegalam". While much of the EP is intergalactic in ethos, he's more than capable of banging it hard, as the intense acid rush of "Extrakrizzbeat" neatly proves.

"Track 1" releases a steady, driving kick beneath airy, delayed sonics and dreamy melodies, while on the flip, "Track 2" heads into total abstraction thanks to a starry landscape of atmospherics gliding left, right and centre without the help of any beat or bassline. Breathtaking excursions into the ether.

Review: Having been quiet since slipping out that rather fine Prime Numbers EP of archive house, Linkwood surfaces on the Firecracker affiliated Shevchenko imprint with some house music that can be best described as effortlessly gliding. A preface to the producer's second album which is set to drop in the early months of 2012, all three tracks here are superb - not least the title track "Secret Value" which sounds naggingly familiar to these ears. Massively vibey, the track begins with an upwards poise and veers in that trajectory throughout augmented by delightfully plump string flourishes that appear in cloud like formation atop the intricate syncopation. "Between Me & You" is essentially the same track twisted inside out, with the vibes deep set beneath the glowering sheen of saturated atmospherics. Those seeking something straighter will find much to admire in "Ignorance Is Bliss" which begins in more prominent fashion, thanks mostly to that burning bass line; though as the track progresses it's flushed with a delightfully smudged warm sensation. Big tip!

Review: Few partnerships in techno are as fruitful as SHDW and Obscure Shape. They are of course commanders-in-chief of this From Another Mind label which is now almost a decade into its journey. And it is still going strong with more all consuming techno power offered up here: 'Planet Der Sturme' is muscular, bulky techno that's built around heavy bottom ends before things get unhinged with the wonky loops of 'Der Urknall'. On the flip, some brighter trance influences colour the synths of both tunes to make for something more heads up and emotive. It's a refreshingly different sound to go with the high functioning A-side.

The delicate, introspective, expressive precision of After All, DPS v55, and Secret move from sublime resignation to summery exuberance to a kind of earnest meditation. On the other side, collaborations with X343 yield a more extroverted approach: spontaneous mutations turn rolling grooves into unpredictable improvisational explorations.

Review: There's much to enjoy about Shine Grooves' first appearance on Kimochi, not least his seeming fascination with the humid, melodious positivity of classic '90s ambient house, Japanese deep house and the cheerier end of intergalactic intelligent techno. For those of a certain vintage, parallels can be drawn between "Tea", in particular, and the often-overlooked work of Mr YT, or - for a more contemporary reference - the new age influenced bliss of Hashman DJ. There are plenty of reasons to be cheerful elsewhere, too, from the rush-inducing ambience of "343", to the dense tribal-inspired stickiness of "Roughness", and the atmospheric warmth of "Old Radio".

It's one of his best yet with 'Picture Of Mood' layering up perfectly dreamy ambient keys and pads over a supple and minimal rhythm that is suggested more than solidified. There are more colourful cosmic soundscapes with the deep rolling 'Dance Ambient' then the experimental wonkiness of 'Sverdlovskaya Sonata'. Three further dreamy cuts complete the trip on the flip.

Review: Now firmly established as a label with their own aesthetic and sonic identity, there'd be a sense of expectation attached to a full album from anyone in the Avian camp. That it's the fairly unpronounceable Swedish techno pair SHXCXCHCXSH who've been handed the mantle of first full artist album on Avian only increases that expectation, thanks mostly to the mystery that surrounds them. Not wishing to spoil the sonic surprises within the forthcoming seven track STRGTHS LP, label bosses Shifted and Ventress have elected to precede it's release with this STRGTHS RCNSTRCTNS 12" which features remixes from themselves along with the similarly minded Sigha. Given the approach of all involved, you should have an idea of what expect and indeed, Sigha sinks deepest into the sludgely noirish mire with his take on "LLDTMPS".

All sitting somewhere in the techno/hardcore/dub axis, "Pressure" lives up to its name with a rolling break, and warped grime basses, "Dreamscape" creates intensity with a loopy vocal hook and densely coded sense of tension while "Whistle Blower" brings us home on a deeper, more broken tip where noises aren't all what they seem. Review: Released on Sandwell District back in 2011, Hypnosis In The Modern Age remains one of Juan Mendez's most name-checked EPs. There should be plenty of takers, then, for this belated follow-up, which sees the Silent Servant switch to Ron Morelli's L.I.E.S camp for the first time. Pleasingly, it's another fine collection of trippy, trance-inducing workouts, beginning with the metronomic drums, nagging melody lines and clandestine textures of "Dissociation", which feels like a rediscovered relic from the early '90s. He repurposes the same lead riff on the similarly hypnotic - but more percussively layered - "Self-Hypnosis", before veering off on an industrial tangent on the skittish, moody and curiously funky "Autosuggestion".
