Review: In celebration of their tenth birthday, Selador marks the occasion in style with a four-track collaborative EP, featuring tracks from 3D, Robert Owens, Olivier Giacomotto, Quivver, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Argia, and Jepe. The opening track, 'Known Love', is a deep, pulasting house tune that feels like an instant classic, perhaps thanks to the soulful, pop-tinged vocals - think LCD soundsystem meets Four Tet. 'Snailblazer', the second track on the EP, takes a much darker turn, with a chugging, EBM-esque feel. Full-bodied and complete with obscured vocals, this is the kind of track to pull out your bag when it's time to really get stuck in. On the B-side, 'Napkin Knowledge' draws on the glistening synths of eurodance, yet still securing the melodies to a grounded bassline and rhythm section. 'Salitre' is the perfect closing track, rising up in a gleaming, ecstatic melody, before delicately returning to ground level. A varied yet firmly cohesive collaborative release - the perfect way for Selador to kick off their 2023 catalogue.

Review: You may know Erlend Øye from Kings of Convenience. The Norwegian singer now living in Berlin hooked up with Marcin Oez, a resident DJ at the WMF club and three years ago they started a dance music project. Not satisfied by the mere use of computers "Whitest Boy Alive" left the electronic music to again find the sound of people actually playing together. Thus having recorded the album live in their studio (previously Erich Honecker's secret hideout in Café Moscau) without layering, editing or effects. There is the guitar, the bass, the drums and the voice. And the result is astonishing. Erlend's breezy yet intimate voice and every tone get the same amount of room and care in this airy and personal ten song production. And each and every song is as strong, making "Dreams" an outstanding album. Still, the band's background in club music can't be missed at their live shows: The vibe is quite high when they mix the songs together with a steady kick drum DJ style, Erlend crowd surfing but ending up stuck in the disco ball. A truly original pop band making the simplest sounding songs the hardest way, making us feel the beautiful sounds of human interaction again.

Review: Long awaited follow up of Sasha Da Link. His previous singles "The Key" and "Exhilaration" have been supported by the world's leading trance jocks over months. "High Tension" is another high quality epic trancer. The original mix on the B-Side is full of energy and pushing elements. Some parts of the track bring the return of the good old trance days. The massive Envio remix on the A-Side is a bit more atmospherical with a 1st class breakdown and a pushing melody, mixed up with a nice guitar line on the top. The perfect package for a high quality after summer trance monster which will hit the stores, fill the dancefloors and be supported for a longer time by many trance jocks.

head. 'Song For Djingi' takes what seems like a laidback approach to house, with touches of progressive added too, another unique breakdown forms the
main focus of the track, that glides effortlessly along and sits with a chunky almost funky groove and beat. Great to see a slightly different direction from John.

Review: Following up the inaugural release by Braintalk, Zurich-based label Human Sense Technology returns for its second edition here, this time from hometown hero Dan Piu. He rebooted his career after a 16 year hiatus a few years ago and has been more prolific than ever, with releases on Childhood Electronix, Cartulis, and Hizou Deep Rooted Music. Review: Two underground artists with many years in the scene behind them in Darwin Chamber and DJ Spun come together for the second in their Episode series on Rong Music. Once again they dig into the sounds of their formative years while also looking to the future as they blend dub, trance and techno into lithe new forms. 'The Revolution' is a mid-tempo and atmospheric roller with hypnotic vocals, while 'The Playa' is a deft bit of electronic minimalism with a deep space feel and ticking 808 sounds. Things get more loose with the warped synths and dusty tech beats of 'Dysfunction' while 'Acid Tounge' closes with trippy designs, a skeletal rhythm and a sense of late-night melodic and afterparty mischief.

Review: Venetian self-described "avant garde conservative" Simone De Kunovich is back to quickly follow up his last outing in March with a new electro EP on Public Possession. He also ended last year on a high with the final part of his Mondo Nuovo series and seems to be in full creative flow again here. 'Flow My Tears' is an old school throwback with sugary 80s synths sounds and lush cosmic arps, then 'Super Mana Drain' local into a chugging Italo disco vibe that will get hands in the air as it travels to the stars. Review: Deepwide return to Monster Tunes following their massive van Dyk supported "Canyon" from last summer, and here's another prime slice of trance from another pair of those immensely talented Finnish producers that we keep seeming to dig up for you! The original mix is the perfect follow up to "Canyon" and follows very much in the same vein as its predecessor. Classy production and gorgeous harmonies make this the perfect track for the early summer! Flip over for a remix from "Soundproofed", a new alias from Finnish (where else would he be from!) Review: Since debuting the alias on Klasse Wrecks back in 2016, Tim Schumacher has used the DJ Normal 4 project as a vehicle for his kaleidoscopic, psychedelic musical fantasies, drawing on a pool of influences including ambient techno, early psy-trance, electro and house-tempi breakbeat hardcore. It's a vividly hallucinatory but club-ready sound that rarely fails to hit the spot, as this new outing proves. Mind-mangling TB-303 acid lines are the order of the day on ambient techno-goes-breaks opener 'Call of the Valley' and the Brown Album-era Orbital flex of 'Enjoi', while 'Selva' is a trance-inducing stomper full of rising and falling lead lines and trippy electronics. To round things off, Schumacher dips the tempo and doffs a cap to the ultra-trippy end of the new beat spectrum (the excellent 'Energee').
