Review: The House Puff label started out as a vehicle for founder DJ Steaw's on-point productions, but in recent times he's used it more to showcase the work of other like-minded artists. On this EP, he introduces us to a new member of the extended family: Manhattan-based debutant Coral O'Connor. The New Yorker sets out his stall successfully via A-side 'Swimming in Sound', an undeniably funky tech-house roller rich in spacey synth sounds, swinging beats, oddball vocal samples and undulating bass. 'Say When' sees him move further towards a slicker, smoother, tech-tinged deep house sound, while closing cut 'Word on the Street' is an expertly crafted exploration of the deep and melodious end of the contemporary tech-house spectrum.
