Review: For German retroverts Sign Bit Zero, it's "all about the expression of hate, despair, pain, waste, destruction, tristesse and misanthropic in art and music!" and that's good enough for us, really! On offer here are five noisy reinterpretations of some serious industrial unclassics. Hamburg's Wosto (of Fallbeil) takes the razor to UK pioneers Nocturnal Emissions and the raw tonal energy of "Bite Them Back". Label boss Kilian Krings appears also, delivering an edit of vintage EBM classic "Nervous Breakdown" by Suicide Commando and also for short lived Dutch trio S.M. Nurse and their grinding minimal synth anthem "Heinwerker". Some great edits on here for the new industrialists.

Review: More abrasive and pitch black electronics from France's Nocturnal Frequencies camp. Their new various artists EP sees them debut on vinyl after a series of great digital and cassette releases - and in rather frightful fashion indeed! From the aufnahme + wiedergabe affilated Codex Empire who presents the brooding "Ourang Medan", the guttural analog intensity of American veteran Paul Birken's "Slipper Dimple" comprising the A side- the latter one's a respectful tribute to the old school techno sound. On the flip, a more direct and dancefloor oriented techno represents here- yet be assured that it's as bleak and metal-edged as expected on "NF1" by Spanish duo NX1. One half of Talker Jonathan Krohn aka Stave completes the carnival of lost souls here - reaching right for the jugular on his fierce IDM epic "Shove" reminiscent of the British Murder Boys' sound.

Review: Kolony Gorky is back with a third EP in less than a year that once again offers some stylish and artful rhythmic interpretations. DDrhode & Sohrab are behind this one and it opens with the airy percussive pattern and suspensory loops of deep and deft jam 'Ghoroob' (Kryptic Rhythm) which becomes dusty downbeat and late-night jaunt when served up as the 'Haleeteh?' version. 'Azadi' has the feel of a sixties spy thriller with its mysterious leads and 'Distant Sun' shuts down with some zoned out and loved-up deep house romance. Another hard-to-define but easy-to-love EP from the already vital Kolony Gorky.

Review: Berlin's Cocktail d'Amore and Tokyo's Ene Records have come together once again to present the music of Solidair. The duo of Cocktail alumni Luigi Di Venere and Jules Etienne present three tracks aimed to induce a dance floor hypnosis. Orgonite (Riding the Waves) does just that, a slow build awash in the ebb and flow of acid tinges, just enough to wet your whistle on a Saturday night. The original mix keeps the skeletal support but throws in a life preserver of 8 bit gaming synthesis. Frisky arps call and respond to each other before making way for sinewy pads to lift off. Tiger's Eye sets itself onto cruising speed incorporating elements of late 90's acid techno with the sleek and smooth clubbing aesthetics of modern day Berlin.

Review: MOLT's second outing consists of five cuts, firstly Stavrogin's thunderous technoid jungle rework of DYL's contrastingly introverted original; weaving intricately layered noise and percussion over huge hitting sine-kick pressure. DYL's other o0fferings on this side channel early drum & bass, with chunky, filtered breakbeat rhythms and vivid, colourful yet bleakly detailed, arrhythmic sound design. Flip the record for DYL's o0ff-kilter broken techno floor-rattler Transfer, opening with soul-swallowing suspense i its deep subs and catchy delayed kick-rhythms evoke imminent danger. To conclude, Stavrogin brings erratic, sub-heavy melancholia with his second piece meshing luscious chords with stuttered kick sounds upon dashes of layered bass. In line with MOLT's first edition, vinyl copies of Second Phase include ten locked groove loops for use creatively as sampling or DJ tools.

Review: Gerd Jansen's Running Back is brilliantly and effortlessly eclectic. It's a label that does easy to love house anthems as well as more experimental fair and plenty in between. And that's where Ede & Deckert sit - in a world to the left of centre with catchy synth tunes feat. Sargland. 'Immer' is their latest and pairs doleful guitar riffs a la Joy Division with soul vocals and slick drums that will work in the right dance floor setting. It's a great sound and one that has the potential to become something of an unlikely underground dance hit. The B-side has an instrumental that allows the synth work to shine more.

Review: Kiwi Geoff Presha's now Berlin-based imprint Samurai Horo delves deeper into the grey area, presenting four dark and textured excursions by some modern masters of the black art. Japan's Ena gets remixed by Ancestral Voices (one half of Akkord) on "9th Divided" which incorporates sombre vibes and exotic percussion and field recordings from the tropics. Ena appears again, remixing DINT's "Visceria", fully deconstructing it on this harshly reduced drum and bass experiment. On the flip the darkness prevails with Synth Sense (Auxiliary/Diode) and their grinding and sludgy slow burning techno mess that is "Corrosion (remix)" and finally ASC's "Loophole" gets taken on a one way ticket to hell and back courtesy of Sam KDC.

Review: Jason B.Bernard's Peripheral Minimal is one of those labels which rarely disappoints, especially when the release concerns a collaborative effort from some of the most sought-after names in the electronic sphere. Beta Evers, a legendary coldwave Goddess from the 70s and 80s, rolls through with two magnetic slices of electro-infused gnarliness that take the genre back to its core roots, and she's backed by Drexciya's legendary Heinrich Muller on "Innerhalb Der Zeit". On the flip, Spatial Relation is armed with three further shots of cold-blooded drum machine funk with that inimitable warehouse feel... sounding a bit like Berlin back in the mid 80s. Heavy and tipped!

Review: Spain's premier outlet for quirky house and techno lines up to that fine reputation once again here with a second Fragments EP from a fine crew of studio talents. Fantastic Man's "Lather Of Heaven" opens proceedings with lush synth ripples layered up over rubbery, rolling drums to make for a trance inducing gem. Layered Moods gets more unhinged with his cavernous exploration of rhythm and Absis slows things down to a delicious dub crawl. Steve Pepe brings some shamanistic rituals to his rather spooky and tribal number "Tribalone" to complete a fascinating EP.

Review: We were wondering what Regis' Downwards stable was planning for 2017, but it's clear that the UK techno lynchpin has absolutely everything under control. The year kicks off with a collaborative EP, The Immortal Eye, featuring a special selection of artists whose sounds only tinker with the techno formula, and which will undoubtedly appeal to a whole spectrum of electronic music enthusiasts. Jan Grebenstein and Christine Seefried, the former having already appeared for the label recently, team up on "Wufferfraction", a mid-tempo roller that ticks along at a steady pace amid a sea of electrifying acid sonics, while fellow recent signee Layne delivers a noxious cloud of rhythmic ambient through "Love". On the B-side, the Autumns outfit offer a cold, bleak, pseudo techno groove on "Imposter Syndrome", leaving the excellent DVA Damas to coax the cold out of the wave thanks to an excellent tune by the name of "Shortcut To X". Recommended.

Review: This is the end of Rivulet Records after seven years of existence. Over the years, they have presented fabulous works by the likes of Jonas Palzer, Momo and Skipless. The very last release comes from co-founder Stanley Schmidt, who collaborates with his long time friend Hobor on the Made In Paint LP. For these two Leipzig based artists, it had been a long time in the making and to present this work as the final product felt just right. A captivating collection of downbeat electronica and ambient, that is for the most part textured and melancholic in its expression - while at time other lush and uplifting, There are even a few moments of dancefloor friendly techno, such as the soulful acid stomp of "Swirling Paranoia" or the ecstatic junglist stepper "From Outside".

Review: The third instalment in the Allstars series from Frigio is another selection of murky sonics from a freaky underworld. The opener is a dark trip into intense and underlapping drum grooves and molten synths that crashes from one loop to the next. The rickety drums of 'Bruxism' come with a classic Moby sample that sets it on fire and Negocius Man take us into a world of surveillance and subversion with their tripped out designs and malfunctioning machine sounds. Sons Of Traders offer the most depraved of the lot with a track that is suitably terrifying as the haunting season approaches.

Review: The latest instalment in Pinkman's white label Broken Dreams series is a collaborative affair with imprint affiliate Identified Patient joining forces with vocalist Sophie Du Palais, who has previously contributed to one of the producer's other EPs. Du Palais is in full on mascara-clad minimal wave mode on trippy opener "Peaceful Panic", a throbbing fusion of raw synthesizer riffs, mind-altering arpeggio lines and crunchy drum machine hits. Her stylish spoken word vocals come to the fore on dark and psychedelic electro number "Sleep Without Rest", before Lasznikoff joins in the fun on closer "Everything is Done", a fuzzy and up-tempo workout rich in macabre, low-register riffs, incessant percussion hits and trippy, late night aural textures.
