Review: Next month, we will finally get to watch Eva Aridjis's Goodbye Horses, a documentary film exploring the extraordinary life of cult New York artist and singer Q Lazzarus (real name Diane Luckey). This soundtrack album is something of a rarity, as it is mostly made up of unreleased music that the artist recorded - either as a solo performer or as part of Q Lazzarus & The Resurrection - between the mid 1980s and 1995. Alongside contrasting takes on her peerless 'Goodbye Horses', the two-disc set includes a Compass Point style dub disco cover of George Gershwin classic 'Summertime', nods to early house music culture ('Hellfire', 'My Mistake'), a gaggle of proto-alt-rock numbers ('Bang Bang', 'I See Your Eyes'), and a stunning, power ballad style reinterpretation of 'Heaven' by Talking Heads.

Review: Will Holland is Quantic and with this project he has explored myriad different musical worlds, has traversed many different areas, most notably immersing himself in many aspects of Latin American music culture, often through collaboration. He's switched it up for this new record after first starting out with some experiments that soon turned into a love letter to disco which has long been a powerful emotional tool. He brings his own sense of percussive energy to the genre and has again worked with an array of talented mates including Connie Constance and Rationale plus vocalist Andreya Triana.

Review: Cosmic soldier Qubrique debuts on the limited run Sauroid imprint with the vintage 'ardcore meets electro sounds of Planet Conquerors. Inspired by the likes of Maurice Joshua, Altern 8, Shades Of Rhythm, Todd Terry, Johnny Vicious, T99, Frank De Wulf and Tyree Cooper, this eight track selection from Qubrique (pronounced in a similar way to Kubrick) is apparently dedicated to mysteries related to aliens on Earth, as Mexican city of Palenque or ancient Peruvian place Marcahuasi. Given these inspirations, it's not surprising that Planet Conquerors is defiantly retro leaning from the off with "Kumaras City" brimming with rave sirens and breakbeats. A 303 tweaking remix from A Guy Called Juno Laine follows before Qubrique returns to helm the rest of an enjoyable disjointed jaunt through rough house and techno.

Review: Long before anybody even coined the term 'disco', P&P Records was filling speakers nationwide with grimy jams that kept people on the dancefloors. As most know, the legendary label P&P is notorious for their disco classics, and this reissue is no exception. The Queen Constance Band released an album called "University Dances Of 1978". Executive produced by music legends Peter Brown and Patrick Adams, this treasure trove of disco funk guarantee a head-nod and booty-shake from even the stiffest of folk. Comprised of ten tracks, five vocal and five matching instrumentals, this great and rare studio group album is filled to the brim with brilliant underground dance tracks, now released on Traffic.
