Now with over ten years of experience under their belts, they welcome five new artists for a playful bricolage in deep and minimal techno, privileging elite, razor-sharp additive sound design and future-soulful vocal tasters. Ivory's opener 'Rain' epitomises this, while Jimi Jules squelchifies the same formula, and Aera's 'Future Holdings' rolls out the same logic to its ultimate conclusion, veering towards complex, 3D-graphic melodic techno composed entirely of climbing saws.

Review: Neptune Discs specialise in progressive downbeat, upbeat and acid convections, and as a label theme themselves after forgotten marine kingdoms. Though Poseidon has thrusted his trident at us here, there's actually a fourth track/prong on this tenth edition in the Dutch label's V/A catalogue, adding extra implosive impact to an already power-packed depth charge. Standouts here, in our estimation, have to be the faster currents of the bunch, taking shape as Tifra's 'Headspace' - whose breath-of-life melodic sequencings and CPAP pads allow us mammals a moment to come up for air - and DJ Life's 'Carapax' - whose gnatty lead buzz is like a desiccant for contaminant waters.

Review: A momentous move from neon-soaked electro outfit Justice hears them team up with the like-minded thrower-backers Tame Impala for a "why didn't anyone think of this before?" EP, 'Neverender'. Released hot off the plate of a recent Alexandra Palace show, the just duo are heard to tip the lady's scales towards miscarriage, following their last LP Hyperdrama with a single tort of regret. Kevin Parker's unmistakable countertenor floats above the track's nightridden house mix like a beamer trailing its driver's emotions in its exhaust fumes: "Because I remember / The hardest of times I / don't forget / Neverender." An ode to "can't unsee", it also comes backed by remixes by Kaytranada and Rampa.

Review: Vintage house and disco don Dave Lee knows a thing or two about serving up irresistible and timeless cuts and that's what he does here with the 24th instalment of the long-running Attack The Dancefloor series on his own Z Records. The man himself kicks off with Maurissa Rose on the loosely chugging, deep and soulful 'Open Me Up' (a first taste of the upcoming album together). He then slips into US garage style with his popular remix of The Trammps' 'I've Gotta Stand Up' that harks back to the glory days of 90s Soulful House. Felix Buxton's Celestial Being & Citizens Of The World Choir's 'Raise The Vibration' gets a gloriously sunny and positive Crackazat club mix before Lee closes the release with squelching synth in the form of his Boogified mix of Soul Dhamma's classic 'Flower.'

Review: Italian house lover Fabio Monesi returns to his Wilson label - named and styled after that unforgettable volleyball in Castaway - with a collab EP next to Tom Carruthers. It's rooted in traditional tropes from the 90s and US scenes starting with the kicking, retro flavours of 'Mi Amor' before 'The Bass Theory' brings on, yep, some more heavy bass-driven grooves. Last of all is the more synth-laden 'Killer Fruit' which is a triumph in drum programming that will enliven any crowd.

Review: Toolroom's house imprint keeps the party pumping with another diverse selection of floor-filling weapons. Grant Nelson & Mark Knight lead the charge with 'Do It Y'all', a track that's been tearing up charts and dancefloors with its raw energy and irresistible rhythm for a while now. But this sampler doesn't simply rest on its laurels; it takes us on a winding path through the multifaceted sounds of house music. The Deepshakerz & Turntables Night Fever follow up with 'Oh Phunk!', a high-energy stomper fueled by a relentless rhythm section and soulful vocal samples that hark back to the golden age of house music. Richard Earnshaw, however, opts for a different approach, reimagining Fonda Rae's classic 'Touch Me' with a touch of soulful depth and emotion. Sebb Junior closes out the sampler with 'Makes Me Feel', a track brimming with bright melodies and feel-good vibes, showcasing the playful side of house music. Review: After they relocated to Miami, Florida, in the early 1970s, Bahamas band T Connection recorded a string of disco and disco-funk anthems for local label T.K. Amongst their most admired and played releases - the peerless and extra-percussion 'At Midnight' excepted - is 'Saturday Night', which here gets the remix treatment courtesy of popular Aussie disco/house fusionist Dr Packer. He provides two peak-time-ready rubs: a jaunty, rolling, full-vocal A-side remix that lightly straightens and tools-up the groove while retaining the horns, strings, guitar and bass from the band's superb original mix, and a flip-side 'Dubstrumental'. Almost entirely free of singing besides some whispered and yelped backing vocals, it allows the original disco instrumentation more room to breathe while rolling out the band's killer groove.

Review: We can hear a hint of early New York house heads like Todd Terry in the way the drums are constructed on this new one from Toribio, who has linked up with Sharin for an authentic vocal flourish. Her silky tones lend real quality to the choppy analogue drums and lodge top lines deep in your brain. After the original comes an alternate mix with some extra jazzy chords moving about the mix, and then closing things out is a Crackazat remix. In this one, the drums take on a bit of a garage swing with extra weight making you move while the soulful vocal flair remains in place up top.

With her EP 'Pillow Talk', she nails an always difficult-to-capture aesthetic, lying somewhere between the glassy future-metropolitan sonic parkour of Mirror's Edge, and the driving whispers and zoneout beats of Bowery Electric, adding yet another ingenious addition to the unparalleled label that is Roza Terenzi's Step Ball Chain. Opener 'Room To Breathe' revels in stretched-out breaks and blithe half-whispered vocals - which vaguely talk of an adversary being unable to stop Trickpony from going with the flow - while the synaptic dirges of 'Shiver' and its 'On Ice' dub version recall an ideaspatial collusion of Tipper and Skanna, seguing seamlessly from IDM downtempiques to drum & bass. Closer 'Pillow Talk' closes on a note of watery montage trance; it's the brightest statement of the bunch; Doss meets Motion Ward.

Review: Lausanne in Switzerland is not only home to the admirable Black Pattern Records imprint, but also sometime Street King and Mood Funk Records artist Dexter Troy (real name Alexandre Grazzola). Here, label and artist join forces for the first time to launch the latter's new series, The Double Take. The idea seems simple: Grazzola drops two fresh tunes, each of which gets reworked. The vibe of his original tracks is gritty, energetic and effects-laden disco house, with the gargantuan, Sylvester-sampling 'Needin' You' being followed by the deeper and more locked-in 'Without You', which incorporates elements from an Alicia Myers classic. DJ Sneak - a major influence on the sound explored on the EP - delivers an energetic, filter-sporting tease-and-release take on 'Needin' You', toughening it up in the process, before Groove P drops a more rubbery and expressively funky take on 'Without You'.

Review: Those hoping the latest record from Sofi Tukker was a reworking of the score to the Liverpool-set, mid-1980s British sitcom, Bread, will find themselves coming up short here. In contrast, those who were expecting this to be the difficult third studio LP from Portugal's most in-demand festival darlings and electronic-pop crossover stars are very much in the right place. Not so much an acquired taste, but certainly upbeat and accessible enough to put chin-strokers off, on record number three Tukker seem to distill a wealth of dance styles into what is ostensibly a carnival of a release. 'Perfect Someone' opts for soul and jazz house, veterans might pick up on 'Spiral' giving (perhaps an accidental) nod to late-1990s trance anthem 'The Orange Theme' mixed with girl band bubble gum, 'Woof' almost feels like a Mr Scruff production, and 'Guardian Angel' serves sunset at an Ibiza restaurant.
