Review: For the first time ever, this new silver vinyl release combines the iconic music from all the three Hobbit films into a comprehensive collection all masterfully performed by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Howard Shore's award-winning compositions for this as well as The Lord of the Rings trilogy have captivated audiences worldwide, often accompanied by live film screenings. The meticulous attention to detail in bringing Tolkien's world to life through music is legendary, incorporating diverse musical styles and instruments to evoke the rich landscapes and characters of Middle-earth. From 'Song Of The Lonely Mountain' to 'Protector Of The Common Folk', this journey through cinematic composing is truly extraordinary.

Review: Shabazz Palaces's Exotic Birds of Prey is a new seven-song mini-album that comes via Sub Pop and follows the huge success of Robed in Rareness back in October 2023. It is a rather enchaining listen that draws on many different rap eras and blends them into one new sound helmed by vocalist and producer Ismael Butler. Shabazz Palaces redefines hip-hop across decades here with the album blending the past, present, and future with warped sounds and fine collaborations from the likes of Stas THEE Boss and Japreme Magnetic who help to enrich this sonic journey. This special Loser Edition comes on creamy white vinyl.

Review: Originally released in 1984 and celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Initium would serve as the debut full-length from death-rock horror-punk outfit Samhain; the brainchild of Glenn Danzig (or Evil Elvis). Opting to disband Misfits in favour of redirecting his creative juices into a project he maintained more rigid control over, with the title even translating from Latin to English as "beginning", the LP marked a simultaneous embracing of more metallic, gothic rock and malevolent balladry, distancing itself from the Misfits' breakneck hardcore chaos. Arriving less than a full year after Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood, the transitional growing pains are evident with deep cut 'Archangel' being originally penned with Misfits bassist Jerry Only, while 'Horror Biz' is actually a re-worked version of the early Misfits single 'Horror Business'. Featuring Minor Threat guitarist Lyle Preslar on several tracks, along with Reagan Youth bassist Al Pike making a singular appearance, four decades on Initium continues to resonate as a vital piece of punk rock/deathrock/horror-punk history with its laying of influential foundations.

Review: "No-one knew the songs or what the plan was. We kept it loose and fun. This was the spirit of the sessions. No headphones, no playback, minimal overdubs, or bleed. Fast and loose," says Sam Evian of his latest record, the first to grace his new imprint, Thirty Tigers. If that's not enough to make you balk with jealously at not being invited, then the idea of Big Thief's Adrian Lenker and Sufjan Stevens, among others, debasing to Evian's house in the Catskills to examine a revamped studio, complete with vintage tape deck and console, then going wild swimming at midnight, just as snow fell, might seal the deal. The following day, work began on Plunge, a record with no real fixed direction or plan. In the end, it will - or, at least, it should - be remembered among Evian's finest offerings. A stunning collection of folk-leaning rock 'n' roll, Americana and jangly indie, you can almost smell upstate New York.

Review: Manchester genre bastardisers Sonic Boom Six have become renowned for their eclectic mashing up, and utter disregard for the parameters of genres such as ska, punk, metal, hip-hop, grime, dubstep etc. Whilst relatively creatively quiet since the release of 2016's fifth full-length The F-Bomb and the 2017 follow-up EP Cardiac Address, 2023 saw the release of the double A-side single 'Future Shock' b/w 'One Of The Boys'. Now it appears not only were those two new cuts designed to re-introduce listeners to the band, and whet appetites and beaks yet again, but rather they were the signifier of the arrival of the Re:Generation compilation, which places the two new bangers alongside a carefully curated batch of the band's personal favourite recordings from their definitive line-up over the past decade. What's more, there's also alternate mixes and freshly rejuvenated EQs of vital deep cuts and fan essentials. It mightn't be a new album, but it's the closest we're getting for now.

This full length is the artist's fifth in total and is in the similar vein as Romanthony or perhaps Jus ED. The blend of house heaters, vocals and injecting some soul into the mix, is the ingredients for the recipe. There are killer house bangers like 'Come Back To Life' and 'My Love Is Deep' while some others explore a deeper dubby groove like in 'Stranger Than Fiction' or the Hip-House inspired 'Wanna Find Out'. Plenty here for house fans to enjoy.

Review: Soffplaneten takes us deep into a world of downtempo delight with the Samlar Damm LP on Sunken Rock Recordings. It is an eight-track odyssey that veers from the gentle rhythms of the opener to the languid dub rotations of 'Kom Till Mitt Talt' complete with twanging guitars and soulful vocal seductions. 'Hoga Mamma Moln' is a more percussive and upbeat cut built from loose drums and tin pot percussion but held together with smeared and heat-damaged chords. 'Tunnelbanan' is a whacked-out and laid-back stoner joint while 'En Suddig Musik' gets more experimental and unusual in its sonic collage. A wonderfully irreverent new take on Balearic overall.

Review: Saphileaum is an alias for multi-disciplinary Georgian artist Andro Gogibedashvili, who since 2018 has been unfurling reams of delicate, mesmerising electro-organic beat works for labels like Silent Season, Diffuse Reality and Constellation Tatsu. Hot on the heels of the wonderful Intrapersonal Experience for Good Morning Tapes comes this debut appearance on Slow Life, which remains true to his artistic arcs as well as the mellow, Adriatic mood of the label. This is meditative groove music from the modern age, revelling in the interplay between strident beat constructions and exotic sound palettes without ever disturbing the over-arching chill of Gogibedashvili's captivating project.

A Charming Man In Amsterdam is a concert that was arranged in order to mark the 50th anniversary of a Dutch magazine, Vinyl (imagine that happening today!). It was the iconinc Manchester band's first ever show in the Netherlands and they serve up a set revolving around their eponymous debut album and early singles, with 'Miserable Lie', 'I Don't Owe You Anything' and 'These Things Take Time' sounding particularly grand.

Review: Steely and Clevie were amongst some of the most supreme rhythm makers in all of Jamaica in the 1980s and on into the 1990s. They worked together at King Jammy's in the aftermath of Sleng Teng with Steely doing the synth work and Clevie making the magic on his drum machines. They wrote a wide array of essential rhythms for the day's best emerging dancehall tautens and At The Top is a collection of crucial digital dub workouts "that strips bare the computerised wizardry at the duo's core." These are essential dubs for fans old and new of dancehall.

Review: Paul Dickow has made some memorable and mesmerising music since emerging as Strategy 21 years ago, initially switching between much-admired experimental and underground labels (Kranky, Idle Hands, 100% Silk, Further Records) before establishing his own imprint (Community Library). Wet Room, his 20th full-length, is another fine collection of cuts in his distinctively deep, dubby and trippy sonic style. It's rooted in ambient, sound collage and experimentalism, but also touches on digi-dub, deep dub techno, trip-hop and the far-sighted, intergalactic electronics (if not the rhythms) of Motor City techno. Most of all, though, it feels like a coherent, immersive sonic journey, making Wet Room one of his most coherent and accessible LPs yet.

English alternative rock band Supergrass dropped their third album back in 1999, following on the wave of Britpop, their hugely successful debut I Should Coco and its successorIn It For The Money. It was another commercial hit, reaching number three in the UK charts and fondly being known as the 'x-ray album' because of the picture on the artwork. Mixing up the prevalent Brit-pop and indie sounds of the era, listening back to it now immediately takes you back to those days, although brothers Gaz and Rob Coombes, Mick Quinn and Danny Goffey also flaunted some of their 70s influences on these tunes, with many of them becoming classics in their own right (see Moving, Pumping On Your Stereo).

Review: Seoul-based duo Salamanda clearly struck upon a persuasive formula when they first cropped up on Good Morning Tapes in 2020. Somewhere between delicate ambient and a modern kind of deep house, their music carries a tenderness which feels absolutely at home on Facta and K-Lone's eminently soothing stable, Wisdom Teeth. In Parallel builds on the sound laid out on previous records for Human Pitch and Metron by presenting a more focused duo seemingly conscious of their rapidly grown audience and considering how to best build upon their tender sound without losing the charm. Threading subtle pop elements into their gossamer-light constructions, this is a rich, satisfying listen from a duo it's so easy to love.

Review: As one of the leading lights in Norwegian techno with guts, heart and soul, Skatebard has long skirted scene recognition to simply focus on slipping out his own strain of wayward machine matter. Given his track record with Sex Tags Mania, it's no surprise he'd trust DJ Sotofett with access to his archives, and so Spektral has come together as an exploration of long-buried recordings from the early 00s, edited by Sotofett and wrestled into a digestible form for this record. Capturing the best aspects of freeform jamming while cutting everything into shape, there's an inherent dirtiness to these recordings which instantly tells you it comes from an honest place.

Psychophonies is the name of his debut and it arrives on his own label Bon Vivant with a signature palette of dark grooves and ghostly synth atmospheres. 'Unicos' soon draws you in with just that sort of vibe before the hurried drum funk of 'Loneliness' and freaky minimal-jazz-house stylings of 'Psychophony'. This is pure dancefloor music that is both perfectly functional but also full of delightful forms.

Review: Testament to Rina Sawayama's showstopping success in the alternative pop market over the past few years, her most recent album Hold The Girl has already seen a reissue via its original label Dirty Hit, just one year after its release in 2022. While Sawayama's earliest releases channelled a more elusive pop sound, Hold The Girl opted for a much less abashed genre tour, working in every influennce from Kelly Clarkson to Clarence Clarity, amounting to an ultimately hugely-maximal pop record which veritably penetrated the dance-pop landscape, despite the absurd and senseless fan backlash about its original album cover. This new reissue follows up not one, but two concert tours in promotion of the album, evidencing its universal acclaim in the mainstream critical sphere.

Swedish producers Dorisburg (aka Alexander Berg) and Sebastian Mullaert decided to head to Malmo's Inkonst venue and install their music-making gear in preparation for this new record. They spent plenty of time there soaking up its aura and also creating a club setting with smoke machine, lights and so on. Then they turned on their gear and got going, with the results of those sessions presented here. They are fluid, ever-evolving soundscapes of tastefully reduced techno, futurist scenes and gentle but potent rhythms that find a perfect home on Neel and Donato Dozzy's Spazio Disponibile label. It's music that moves your mind and body in the most subtle and subversive of ways.

Review: It's hard not to feel that the first time you heard Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating In Space it was a lightbulb moment - one of those life, or at least music-affirming experiences that's hard to come back from. Not the first Spiritualized album, but certainly the most critically acclaimed at the time, and arguably still to this day, it confirmed the Warwickshire band had arrived at the highest level of chart-friendly artistry. That point when a band realise they can do what they want, and it resonates with both niche and mainstream ears. Everything Was Beautiful arrived 25 years later, and emphasised that point. Yes, we're talking about a group that reached full maturity some time ago, rather than a troupe of rising enigmas pushing rock 'n' roll in new directions. Nevertheless, the way in which we are invited back into their world is captivating. Tracks that rouse, inspire, and feel utterly timeless. As a record, this is an exhilarating ride from start to finish, almost seeming to distill all that has come before into one intoxicating brew. Here in a limited Spanish pressing, grab it while you can.

Review: Lettera Cosmica by Riccardo Sinigaglia and musician and visual artist Mario De Leo was recorded back in 1981. It has never before been published and is the consolidation of an artistic and human partnership that aims to trace the four seasons in musical form. It has been made using analogue loops, prepared tapes featuring strings and piano, draws on lots of freaky time and pitch shifts and has been filtered with a Teac 3340 4-track recorder. The results seem at once ancient and ritualistic but also futuristic and occult. The volts are unique to the South of Italy and as they harmonise it is hard not to be left spellbound by this accessible yet experimental work. .

This one is another various artists affair that starts with some nice futuristic robot disco from Vanity Project. There is more organic and lush Balearic from Bobby Bricks and Pacific Coliseum follows that spine-tingling Ibiza sunset vibe. On the flip side, there is everything from late-night electronic house to lazy disco via Sorcerer's blissed out 'Just For Love' which would entrance any dance floor. There's as much quality as there is variation on this one, which makes it a useful EP indeed.

Review: Longtime Malian composer and vocalist Sali Sidibe is a treasure of African folk music, having released a plethora of albums on cassette and CD on various labels across the continent for over two decades before ceasing in around the early noughties. Born in a village in the Wassoulou region of southern Mali, Sidibe sang in Bambara, her songs often backed by a range of traditional rhythms including didai and sogonikun. These fusions would later contribute to the formation of the now very popular Wassoulou movement, a form of dance music performed mostly by women covering themes including childbearing and polygamy. Now Musique Malienne reissues a rare 80s cassette credited to Sidibe, on which detuned electric synths and steadily sequenced electronic drums back up her defiant, snappy, almost rhythmlessly rapped vocals.

Review: Along with the likes of Today & Tomorrow and Untitled (God), Sault are giving their five-deep album drops from late 2022 a more ceremonious release now. The music is too deep and rich to vanish into the melee of digital data streams, and each album's distinct qualities benefits from its own space to inhabit. On a mission from God and steeped in a raw, 70s kind of sound which shirks studio slickness in favour of absolute reality, on Earth this British outfit take themselves into realms of spiritual jazz atop their keen instinct for funk. The drums tumble, the chants murmur, and there's just no arguing with the power of the ensemble and their in-the-room vibe.

AIIR is among the lesser-cited of the quintuplet bunch, being a five track EP and sequel to their sixth album AIR. Providing a rapturous counterpoint to that album while building on its choral themes, this LP could consist of anything from outtakes from the making of AIR to true reprises; it's hard to tell. What we do know is that the music here would have been as equally suited to the high-flung parabolae of grandiose mid-century American filmmaking as it now is for the modern music lover. Pieces like 'Still Waters' and 'God's Will' - with their divine harp flourishes, choirs of angels, and complex string and timpani movements - are evocative enough to recall sublime pastoral classics like Watership Down or A Matter Of Life And Death - not just UK music royalty.

Review: The fourth LP outing from the Nottingham band sees revelling in 60s psychedelia and folk sounds, checking in somewhere between the whimsical glories of The Left Banke, the powering grooves of The Doors and the beguiling melodicism of Nick Drake. It's a nostalgic sound but it's not lacking in dynamics, especially when driven along by the glittering, sparkling drums of founding member Adam Carr, which often feel like the lead instrument as the vocals of Leonore Wheatley and the guitar, bass and keyboards mesh into a hazy supporting act.

Review: Sex Pistols were a band that excelled in the live area, especially in their reformed form, and live albums such as this are well-treasured. It features an extraordinary performance from the group and comes on multicoloured marble vinyl. This was when the band regrouped in 1996 the six-month Filthy Lucre Tour, the concert in question here being in Chile and was broadcast on the radio - it features the Sex Pistols at their fast and furious best with original bassist Glen Matlock back in place of the aethetically perfect but musically challenged Sid Vicious. Every single disc is utterly unique, with its own hand stamped pattern, making this a real collector's piece.

Review: Hardly The Same Snake is the second album from Skinny Pelembe and this version comes via Partisan on limited translucent red vinyl. The Johannesburg-born, Doncaster-raised artist Doya Beardmore really comes of age here, finding his own unique voice and putting it front and centre. Its gravelly baritone is unique and delivers what the artist says he would have done first time around on his debut had he been brave enough. Observations made at design exhibitions are the jumping-off point for the songs which are both visceral yet soulful as they muse on life, death, family, religion and major milestones in between.

Review: Andrew Bunsell and Tom Rellen comprise Staran Wake, the rapturous electronic music project traversing icy wonderworlds and capturing convincing musical analog-ies of them. Seven years of making music together preceded this sublime opus, after which a further four years were poured into its polishing off. Sublime aweworlds like opener 'The Watcher' use uncanny sounds and samples, as if evoking the image of moving across great plains of snow on horseback. Elsewhere, minimalist composition (as on 'Moth Syndrome') and far-out concepts filtered through physical-mimicky synths ('Ocean Trapped In Jurassic Caves') make for a unique multifaceted trip across miles.

It's a real gem of a record that is which is sure to excite fans of Afro, international and worldly broken beats whether old or new. Review: It's hard to know where to begin with Shamir's second album. Or at least it was in 2017. The music? The context? Maybe both: the difficult follow up to one of that decade's finest pop records marked an about turn for the artist, and an almost vulnerable level of honesty, rejecting any preconceptions about his earlier effort and exploring a very different end of the emotional noise spectrum.
While last time round things had been incredibly polished and hook-driven, almost sing-along pop, on Hope we're taken to a rougher, rawer, perhaps grittier side of Shamir. Recorded in just one weekend, originally released for free, it's a grungy, lo-fi, punk-y, garage rock 'n' roll experiment that keeps on delivering across all 12 tracks. A brave change of course and one that we hope will continue.

It's packed with loops, samples, movie dialogue and intricate layers of rhythm that reveal something new each time you listen. It's another huge success for the artists following on from his precious Ancient Methods album and finds the Chicago producer work with Wrecking Crew and Backwoodz affiliates Curly Castro and PremRock, Fatboi Sharif and Bruiser Wolf, Uk talents SonnyJim, King Kashmere, CLBRKS, Lee Scott & Bisk, and Kid Acne who he has worked with often. Review: Mark de Clive-Lowe, Shigeto and Melanie Charles build plenty of bridges between various different sound worlds on this new collaborative long player. de Clive-Lowe is a top-level composer and pianist, DJ and someone who himself joins the dots between jazz, hip-hop and dance. Charles is a jazz vocalist and flautist while Shigeto hails from Detroit and brings mad drumming and production skills. They came together in 2018 and have played all over the world and this album finds them reinterpreting works by the late great Pharoah Sanders including 'The Creator Has a Master Plan' (Part's 1 & 2) while laying down their versions of soulful house and hip hop in-between. Great stuff.

Review: If you don't know what Nottingham duo Sleaford Mods are all about by now then where have you been? They lay down raw, ragged MIDI beats that are deceptively simply but impossibly catch, with pressing social commentary and Tory baiting lyrics over the top. This new album UK Grim - a play on UK Grime, no doubt - is even more dance floor focussed than any before it. The gritty reality of modern life and all its pitfalls are in sharp focus throughout making it another gem from this much loved duo that also somewhat redefines their sound in new ways.

Review: Five years after their debut album made big moves back in 2018, and two after its successor Drunk Tank Pink re-invented them as proper highbrow new wavers, Shame are back with their third Food For Worms. It's tinged with a certain sense of morbidity but also looks outwards and tries to celebrate life. "I don't think you can be in your own head forever," said frontman Charlie Sheen of the writing process. He also declares this to be "the Lamborghini of Shame records" and we are inclined to agree. Fuelled by a love of playing live, this record is one of the fast the band has ever written and so brims with vitality and energy as they cast out their post-punk roots in favour of a more eclectic sound. And what a great result.

Review: California deathcore mob Spite have made waves over the last decade with their tireless work ethic, intense live shows and sonic brute force. Few artists within their scene often prioritise hardcore aspects over the metal machinations, but on their fourth full-length, Dedication To Flesh, the absolute balance has been struck. With trudging grooves, heaving breakdowns and a visceral, animated delivery from vocalist, Darius Tehrani; this is death metal-inspired hardcore at its most literal audible manifestation, while arriving on new label-home, Rise, following a lengthy stint with Stay Sick, is surely indicative of an entirely new, hideous era of Spite.

Review: Back with a bang and their third album, essential UK post-punk band shame are reaching something of a new maturity on Food For Worms, matching their cacophonous noise-wreaking skills with a sharper instinct for melody and structure. The music remains lithe and urgent, but there's a sense they know exactly what they're doing on this record, building on the promise of 2021's Drunk Tank Pink and 2018 debut Songs Of Praise. With this new-found focus come towering monoliths of tracks which bristle with the excitement of music captured in the moment - a proper band with something to say, musically, lyrically and artistically.

Highlights come from Dutch dub engineer Roger Gerressen with the heady greyscale minimalism of 'Angsalvor', the ever reliable Sebastian Mullaert will cast a spell on you with the arcane trance induction of 'Unwind' and rising Bavarian talent Polygonia hands in the strobe-lit frenzy of 'Stellar Rain' which will push you into mental overdrive.

Review: Originally from Rome, Italy, Marco Antonio - the man behind the mask, or the MaSpaventi moniker - relocated to Amsterdam in 2007. A switch from one historic and stunning city to another, in doing so he landed himself smack bang in one of the most vibrant and pro-active electronic music communities and industries on the planet. Suffice to say, then, he's both in the right place and the wrong place to get noticed, with a healthy scene also meaning lots and lots of noise to shout over.
As Vicino Lontano proves, the man in question - who also teaches electronic music production software Ableton alongside other lessons at music schools, including Abbey Road Institute - isn't really up for shouting at all. His work speaks volumes and much louder than most anyway, through sci-fi-hued cosmic dance floor stuff, space age drone, off-centre Italo, and futuristic ambient of the highest possible order.

It's a beautiful mix of exploratory soundscapes, organic percussion and lush melody that unfolds in charming and captivating ways. Found sounds add more real world details to these tracks which range from lazy downbeat jaunts on a wide open savanna to more dynamic deep house trips through the cosmos. Worldly percussion, exotic melodies and unique instruments are all deployed to mark for multi-layered tracks that work equally on brain and body. It makes for a triumph of a record that is experimental yet aborsbing and packed with great detail.

There is nothing groundbreaking about the music here but what is done is done to an exceptionally high standard. The sound designs are faultless, from the bottomless bass to the pilot kick drums via the way in which their fizzing chords do nimble dances over the face of each tune. Some lean into the wind, some are utterly horizontal, all are great.

Review: 'No Rules Sandy' is the latest indie pop calculation by Sylvan Esso, the duo consisting of Amelia Randali Meath and Nick Sanborn. With echoes of indie future garage production, mixed in with ostensibly fun, party-pop vocals and a lo-fi sensibility, fans are correct to make comparisons to the likes of Stereolab, Jamie xx or Bloc Party. The twist is that it's a post-lockdown album; tracks like 'Didn't Care' and 'Echo Party' channel the essence of post-quarantine rebellion and disaffection, with club-ready structures nearly always glued together by analogue-sounding fuzzes.

Ego has a psychedelic edge and hard-ass drums under a world of guitar effects and far-sighted cosmic intent. The vocals are delivered with a realness and rawness that builds on the band's previous sound and results in some of their most potent tunes to date. The title track in particular 'Ego' is a thrilling fusion of tumbling drums and sci-fi sounds next to trip-hop style vocals. 'Kingdom Of Devotion' also explores a more tender sound with stoner folk and mystic melodies.

The production is as ever with this artist rather sublime, as it brings imaginative sounds to life that are all inspired by all-night electronic radio shows of the '90s. 'WHAtADAYray' kicks off with smudged, knotted synth sounds that never resolve, there are serene techno moments like 'StepCLASSixMOtor' and rhythmically inventive cuts like the scuffed loops, metallic shimmer and lo-fi textures of 'TROPyCALLhystrIA.'

Review: No, not that Sade is the first thing to note or you will very much be in for a shock. This Sade is a gloomy metal band made up of Andrew Pozzy on vocals, guitars, piano, synth, Silvia on bass, backing vocals and Matt Sade on drums and pads with Maurizio Baggio also going for some additional guitar and synth work. This album has been informed by the pandemic and brings all new darkness to the band's sound. Dark-wave and goth moods pervade the tracks which all lay out a pessimistic and nihilistic view of the human condition.

Review: Harlem's renowned THC fanatic Sean Pompey aka 10-year hip hop veteran Smoke DZA teamed up with LA producer Real Bad Man for this superb collaborative album back at the start of the year. It was inspired by the fact that weed became legal to be sold on the West Coast and so comes with bars that are heavily steeped in the spirit of the bud. Signature Real Bad Man beats are carriages for silky bars from DZA while plenty of solid guest appearances bolster the already fine collection of tunes. Flee Lord, NymLo and Knowledge The Pirate are amongst those contributing and it is so good to finally have these available on wax.

Formed after the death of Coil's John Balance in 2004, SoiSong was named after the Thai word for 'two' along with the name of a red light district street near where Christopherson lived. SoiSong is less of a group than "a utopian, semi-alien platform for collaboration, devoid of pronounced personality or centralized authority."

It debuted last year with a superb full-length and now is already back with a seance on Gilles's Brownswood label. 'STR4TASFEAR' is a mix of songs, grooves and melodies from the Brit funk world that the two collaborators emerged from. It finds them working with some legends of the scene from neo-soul Godfather Omar to Emma-Jean Thackray, Brighton duo Anushka and Floridian trumpeter/vocalist Theo Croker. A superb collection of timeless sounds, then.

Review: Brownswood Recordings have become something of a meme, cementing their very distinct jazz sound with every new release. Str4ta's 'Str4tasfear' is the latest LP from the project (which consists of Gilles Peterson and Jean Paul Maunick), painting a vague party-jazz homage to the dawn of the Brit-funk era, but they're not being too succinct about any overarching message beyond that. The songs here are danceable, and that's their main focus. 'Lazy Days' is the drawer-inner - with Emma-Jean Thackray's singing lulling us into a state of preferring not to go to work - while 'Night Flight' opens the bay doors into an instrumental space lounge. All sizzlers.

Review: Having thrown somewhat of a creative curveball with the launch of Latin and soul-centered project Sol Set, John Beltran hands over the Detroit collective's debut album Ola De Novo to a list of impressive global talent for the remix treatment. Kiko Navarro, Kaidi Tatham, Blair Frech, Ezel, Cee ElAssaad, Chris Coco and John Beltram with John Arnold all line up to do their duty, incorporating the sun kissed, percussion-heavy and exotically instrumented vibes into their more house and techno productions. Highlights include Cee ElAssaad's remix of 'Get Away', its gloriously optimistic vocal retained and re-purposed over light and nimble beats, and Chris Coco's dubby slow motion samba take on 'Linda Sau Paulo', but like the label says, it's All Good
