Review: Back in stock. What a treat this is, badged up with the catalogue number Sahko 1.5 this is material from Ø, aka Mika Vainio which has never been previously released on vinyl! The tracks were written in 1993, some time in between the Sahko 001 and the Sahko 002 EPs, and released on the absolutely seminal "Tulkinta" album - it has taken 10 years for them to surface finally on wax. Now thank goodness you can play these tracks as they really should be heard, very loud and possibly in a sweaty club, getting your minimal groove on. With massive support recently from none other than the hairstyle-challenged Richie Hawtin, who featured a whole heap of Ø tracks in his latest "DE9" mix CD, this release couldn't be more timely and more desired. My suggestion would be to get hold of this now before it disappears once more forever.

Review: Back in stock. The second part of Mika Vainio's silver series (along with Sahko001), this EP is something of a techno classic. It would later appear on the Tulkinta album, but the 12" has been out of press for over ten years, so it is wonderful to see this back on the shelves, to entice a new generation of listeners into its glorious analogue techno world. What I find so endearing about the Ø records is Vainio's ability to make minimal, edgy techno music sound so glacial and other-worldly. An Ø record sounds exactly like an Ø record and in the twelve years since this was released, nobody has managed to match or recreate anything to come close to these tracks. You know what to do, grab this now before it disappears for another ten years! Totally unmissable.

Review: Berlin's Ewax are back with more lush yet tough deep house goodness, on another various artists compilation. Starting out on the A side with the smooth late night groove of "The Old Shit" by Spanish duo Carlos Vila & Hector Avila aka 2vilas while the second offering on the A side comes courtesy of The Willers Bros with "Quantise" where the EGG London residents throw down some loopy swing fuelled tech house. On the flip Julien Sandre & Mennie turn the heat up on "Spacer" (our personal favourite on here!) while Laurent Ci's "Turn" shows us something emotive to dance to.

Review: Muddy, dreamy and dubby new dance cuts from THREADS, who invite four of their mainstays to the fore with a dry and entraining take on trance. Kebab Traume (in English, 'Kebab Dream') wafts a mouth-watery cylinder of sonic meat under our noses with 'Nova Trance', which melds stabs, basses and kicks with all the certainty of a honey badger. Meanwhile, Mario Liberti's 'Treat Me Good' urges us to do just that via the mode sultry sampled vocals and funk bass whirls.

Review: Since Zip and Villalobos made it one of their coveted deep digs to be heard pealing out of a thousand after hours sessions, the Metamatics remix of A1 People has been a teasingly out of reach dream grab for many a minimal electro head. Now Yossi Amoyal has done the good deed of getting the track remastered and repressed as part of his Fluere series toasting 15 years of Sushitech. As well as that masterclass of elegant machine funk, there's also Kosmogonik's mind-bendingly brilliant 'Circuitry', Silicon Scally's body-popping electro-noir 'Relay' and Matt Chester's melancholic 'November Pathways' to keep your up-all-night marathon sets peppered with spangled surprises.

Review: La Menace is a shadowy collective hailing from France committed to the craft of minimal tech house, with the focus squarely on the tunes on a series of various artist releases. This time around, the proceedings get going in fizzy, freakout style with Abdul Raeva's proggy stormer 'Concorde', while Ginko locks into a slender beat construction on 'Jungle Palazzo'. Takadoum creates an emotive strain of acid on 'Boulevard Hofmann' and MLM & Max Cohle get one of those groovesome, subby basslines rolling on the guaranteed floor worker 'Contraste (Anjou Mix)'. Ginko returns to close the EP out with the sparkling, shimmering splendour of lightly breakbeat-powered joint 'Hors Serie'.

Review: Mannheim minimal house imprint Sukhumvit (yes they're not actually Thai!) are back with another edition of their various artist EPs in the form of SOI 07. Acanalar are UK based DJ's/producers Benjamin Clarke and Connor Hillery who serve up the rolling and reductionist groove of "Project0009" on the A side, followed by newcomers Lost.Act & Mishel A with the stripped back and swinging tech house of "Lab". On the flip is Argentinian producer in Berlin Alexis Cabrera with the trippy afterhour mini-funk of "Escaramuzas" and fellow countryman Nektar Agu (Tied/The Untold Stories) with "Neosjetan".

Review: The enigmatic Acid Jerks are back this week, following up some great releases on the legendary NYC imprint Nu Groove with this new one for Aussie label Refuge Recordings. Review: It is no mean feat to last 10 years no matter your business, but to do so as a record label in this day and age is worthy of maximum respect. Fair play to Det Gode Selskab then for marking the occasion with a tidy new 12" that showcases just what the label is all about. There is chunky tech with grinding bass but lush old school melodies on 'Can't Cure Curiosity' while Alex Jangle & Matztam's 'Glowbones' cuts totally loose on dreamy synth daubs, painterly lines and rubbery house loops. Faer takes a more dark, heads-down path for his spooky 'Serious Repetions' and as you would expect of Deadbeat & The Mole they bring off-kilter loops, unbalanced drums and a ramshackle rhythm that will have you shaking your bones.

Review: After five successful releases which have generated support by Martin Landsky, Dominik Eulberg, Plastikman, Michael Mayer, Frank Lorber, Mandy etc. These 10" coloured vinyls have reached number 6 (out of 10) in the series. once again labelowner Agaric has made the A-side track, for this one a delightfully melancholic peace of music yet with a pounding bottom groove to go with it. Guesting the B-side is the brilliant young star from Jena: Mathias Kaden, known for recent outstanding work on labels like Vakant and Freude Am Tanzen.

Review: In something of a surprising move Rinse turn to the straight-up tech-house styles for their latest various 12", representing a sound a world away from the grime roots of the label. Richy Ahmed is most readily associated with Jamie Jones and the Hot Natured brand, and here he throws down some limber acid arranged in a stripped down style that reflects his surroundings neatly. Clive Henry's SAS project turns out a more pumped up excursion in "Cloak & Dagger", full of gnarly stabs and insistent beats for the darker dancefloor, leaving it to Michael Jansons to lighten the mood with the sassy "All I Give".
