Review: For the legendary label Tresor to put out a breakbeat record is something very rare. The ardent techno label for over 30 years is clearly telling us without saying, how good this music is. Tresor is always in touch with rave music though and it's not fully surprising that Tresor would support any music that is so reminiscent of the old skool days like Digital Entropy is. Datashader rises from the depths to give us their wicked debut. The EP is an audio onslaught that combines blistering breakbeat gems like 'Velocity 04.22' with eerie sci-fi pieces like 'Sync Out Off'. The AFX like 'Fong' and 'Sub Osc" are early favorites from those who have heard samples of this haunting record. It is rare to see the power of rave, breakbeat and IDM presented this well on one record.

Swamps (5:03)

Utrecht (2:24)
Escape (6:06)
Demonstration (5:36)
Review: Parisian scene stalwart DJ Deep has always transcended genre, keeping one foot in deep house, and the other in futurist, Detroit-inspired techno. This ability to twist elements of both styles - and more - into thrilling new dancefloor shapes is evident on Fosph, his first EP for Tresor in five years. He begins by adding humid field recordings and booming bass to a polyrhythmic Afro-tech rhythm on 'Swamps', before unleashing a jacking techno drum jam (the sweaty and intense 'Tommy'). 'Utrecht' is a hushed, spaced-out ambient soundscape, while 'Escape' is a panicked, paranoid techno throb-job that features subtle nods (to our ears at least) to the '88 version of the KLF's 'What Time is Love'. To round things off, he returns to chunky, polyrhythmic techno via the late-night murkiness of 'Demonstration'.

Deepside - "III"
Santonio - "Amnesia"
Xperiment - "Keru Evil #10"
AES - "In My Head"
Review: Tresor again opens its vault, this time skipping the '90s inspired techno for four old school house cuts from Deepside, Santonio, Xperiment and AES, all of which featured on DJ Deep's excellent Kern mix CD. Deepside opens the first volume of Kern rarities with an acid based drum dance in "III", whereas Santonio plays on looped keys and jumbled strings in "Amnesia". Xperiment hits up a plodding bass line alongside a Beverly Hills Cop sounding melody and jacking drums, and AES brings the only vocals to the EP with a classic cut of Chicago house.

Hydraulic Jack (6:29)
Hydraulic Pump (5:41)
Artesian Well (6:24)
Review: For their first missive of 2015, legendary German techno label Tresor has turned to two French producers; veteran DJ Deep and fast-rising youngster Roman Poncet. It's the duo's first collaboration, and Hydraulic Pressure shows real potential. They begin by unveiling "Hydraulic Jack", an undulating chunk of hustling loop techno built around fluid synthesizer riffs, starry electronics and thumping bottom end. "Hydraulic Pump" offers an alternative take on the same track, with bumpier percussion and relentless handclaps offering the perfect accompaniment to the headline synth refrain. Finally, "Artesian Well" eschews the fearless pump of techno altogether, instead delivering a yearning, eyes-closed slice of shimmering ambience built around trippy vocal samples and that now familiar synthesizer sequence.

Extraction Force (7:03)
Review: Adventice is a new collaborative endeavour from French pair DJ Deep and Roman Poncet, with Extraction the first of two releases they will issue through the hallowed Tresor label. Adventice follows Poncet's Opening Moment EP for DJ Deep's Deeply Rooted label last year and this project is focused on classic techno, with power loop productions built specifically for driving sets. The three tracks here suggest this is a partnership that could really flourish with their studio chemistry obvious from the moment lead cut "Extracapsular Extraction" reverberates into action. Fans of booming techno tools will be all over B side track and clear highlight "Extraction Force".

Jonas Kopp - "X"
Capracara - "Flashback' 86"
Halogen - "Bliss" (DJ Hell 2013 rework)
Review: As the excellent Kern series from Tresor hits its second installment via DJ Hell, so the welcome vinyl sampler drops with some rare gems lovingly reissued for a fresh set of ears. Jonas Kopp's "X" sounds as taut and deadly as ever, displaying the true meaning of minimalism across a barren soundscape, while Capracara's utterly sexy acid house jam "Flashback '86" shows just how erotic a 303 bassline can be. Old classic "Bliss" by Halogen gets a modern revamp from DJ Hell himself, creating a functional thud with ample tripped-out techno elements present in fine slithers for an elegant finish.

Life (7:33)
Review: Releasing techno that's built for both deep listening and the cavernous expanse of a warehouse dancefloor is something Tresor has prided itself on for over three decades now. The latest release delivers a powerhouse of raw, underground energy with 'Life' by DJ Plant Texture from Bari, Italy, a release that feels perfectly at home on the label. Side-1 opens with 'Ripetitivo' (Stretch Mix), a frantic, sci-fi-infused cut driven by intricate percussion and a relentless tribal groove. 'Seq21' follows with hypnotic, heavy underground techno, pulling the listener into its deep, looping vortex. Closing the side, 'Cycles' introduces a rolling bassline and ravey intensity, demanding attention while maintaining a deep, driving rhythm. On Side-2, 'WTT' (Dub Mix) stands out as a massive bangerideep, tribal and hedonistic with an incessant pulse that locks dancers into its grip. Finally, the title track Life delivers a pounding finish, embodying the raw, uncompromising energy that defines this release. An intense experience that balances hypnotic depth with peak-time firepowerianother essential entry in Tresor's legacy of underground techno.

Large Language Model (3:15)
Multi Functional Robotics (3:25)
Sensor Data (3:44)
Review: DJ Stingray 313's 'INDUSTRY 4.0' is a contemporary dazzler from the enigmatic techno artist. Seemingly at once a lament of - and an embrace of - the modern manufacturing concepts that impact and even construct humanity's contemporary self-concept, this techniciously high-octane new EP wrenches our modern psyches by the collective ear and abrades it like an existential rasp. 'Large Language Model' pummels our sono-somas with jagged electrobass hellpits and the occasional robotic voice interjection - "machine learning" - while the second act, 'Multi Functional Robotics' and 'Sensor Data', moves even less predictably, exuding aneurysms of wonky mindmelt toplines turned assembly lines gone maliciously sentient turned rogue. The music plays back like a forbidden dossier of infohazards; terrifying AI trade secrets you weren't meant to see or hear.

Wooden Dolls Don't Cry (6:06)
Cassiopea 36 (6:33)
Review: By now, we should all know exactly what to expect from Italian techno veteran Donato Dozzy, namely robust, forthright cuts that combine intoxicating and industrial aural textures with impeccable sound design. 124, his latest EP for Tresor, continues in a similar vein. After opening with some slipped tribal textures - the echoing marimba melodies, delay-laden metallic clanks, unsettling atmospherics and sub-heavy grooves of 'Messy Kafka World' - Dozzy flits between buzzing, drum-dominated minimalism ('Synthi Chase'), loopy late-night hypnotism ('Wooden Dolls Don't Cry', where he wrests maximum dancefloor impact from a small selection of sonic elements) and skewed techno psychedelia (the decidedly trippy 'Cassiopeia 36').

Review: Tresor continues to deliver fresh pressings of Drexciya records from the band's final, golden period of the late '90s and very early 2000s. The latest to get the reissue treatment is 2001's 'Digital Tsunami' EP. The title track, in particular, is classic Drexciya: a surging sonic tidal wave of cyber-kinetic electro beats, undulating electronic melodies and foreboding aural textures. There's plenty to savour across the rest of the EP though, from the moody, bass-heavy oddness of 'Aquatic Cataclysm' and the out-there, mind-mangling bounce of 'The Plankton Organization', to the celestial, pin-sharp beauty of post-IDM classic 'Birth of New Life'. It's one of those records that should be in every electro lover's collection.

Review: As part of Tresor's mega reissue campaign of Drexciya's back catalogue, 'Hydro Doorways' comes as a 6-track teaser 12" showing off the legendary electro supergroup's best lesser-known cuts from 2000. Originally featuring concept art for a 'Drexciyan cruiser' modelled after a giant squid on its 12" sleeve, 'Hydro Doorways' features six stonking mechanistic dance bits ranging from the emotive to the stompy. Clock the nods to Kraftwerk in its various melodies and lulls.

Review: Although Clone's series of remastered Drexciya retrospectives are excellent, it's nice that Tresor have decided to reissue the majority of material the Detroit pair released through the Berlin label in its original format. This way you get the music in the manner Donald and Stinson originally intended. The four tracks on Digital Tsunami were drawn from the same recording sessions that resulted in the sublime Drexciyan document Harnessing The Storm and thankfully got pressed on an addendum 12" after not making the cut for the double LP. With Tresor having just reissued Harnessing The Storm it seems only fair Digital Tsunami should be granted the same treatment. Some 13 years after it's original release and all the music here still sounds like it was drawn from the future, with Donald and Stinson excelling at rapid fire bursts of abstract subaquatic electro, such as towering highlight "The Plankton Organisation".

Review: In the face of all those Clone reissue compilations, Tresor are doing the right thing and digging into their own archive of seminal aquatic machine funk from Detroit electro legends Drexciya, and stepping up with the Hydro Doorways EP is the kind of power move that most labels can only dream of being able to make. From the cinematic drama of "Quantum Hydrodynamics" to the textbook boogie down synth abandon of "Polymono Plexusgel", not forgetting the heavy-on-the-one throwdown of "Lost Vessel" or the alien gurgles and peppy pace of "Species On The Pod", or the... oh you know the drill. "Tresor355 - Free Your Mind - is dedicated to everyone dealing with illness... loss... to everyone who finds strength in the sound", goes its accompanying text. The music is hard-hitting, sharp and rejuvenating, with bits like 'Alpha Klub' standing out in particular for their knife-edge energy cutting though negative thought states. Power on.

Review: Following their 'Free Your Mind' record from earlier this year, Jensen Interceptor and DeFeKT are back on Tresor with an appropriate follow-up, 'Free Your Body'. As you would expect from these two heavyweights, electro is the order of the day across five tracks as fun as they are serious. 'Free Your Body' has a brooding, prowling quality to it, while 'Mr Kinney' features everyone's favourite robot cop and some gnarly, party-starting monosynth lines. There's space for the straight-up 4/4 thrust of 'Bipolar' and the dirty acid clang of 'Life', leaving '7000 Miles' to mop up with another assault on the senses through the power of gargantuan analogue synths.

Review: LNS and DJ Sotofett explore a new direction on their latest EP, 'The Reformer,' released on Tresor Records. Moving away from their debut album, the duo fuses digital artifacts, scanner sounds, and vocoder voices with melodic colors that radiate across cold electro landscapes. The opening track, 'Reform,' takes a deep dive into the electro sound, while 'Plexistorm' blends synthesised strings with arpeggiated acidic bleeps. 'Electric Terraforming' uncovers charged energy sources for life on another planet, and '909 The Controller' features washes of dub over a skipping beat, with a slow, rippling melody and percolating synths. The vinyl version includes exclusive locked grooves by DJ Sotofett.

Review: Tresor joins forces with Carhartt - a company that can trace its roots back to the Motor City - to celebrate techno's two premier cities, Detroit and Berlin. The formula is devilishly simple: brand new cuts from artists based in one of the two cities, with stone-cold legends being joined by rising stars. There are headline-grabbing contributions from Juan Atkins as Model 500 (the warped, alien, dub-flecked and Cybotron-esque electrofunk of 'I.D.L.E') and DJ Stingray 313 (the industrial electro clank of 'Dynamic Instability'), plus fine contributions from JakoJako (the early morning techno hypnotism of 'Metal Goat'), AMX (the wonderfully hazy, deep and dubbed-out electro shuffle of 'Your Body') and Erik Jabari (the mind-mangling modular madness of 'Screamore').

The latest volume - Part 3, fact fans - continues this trend, mixing weightless, deep space ambient with a wealth of Afro-futurist techno and tech-house works that make great use of impeccably programmed, loose-limbed rhythms, twisted synth lines, and aural textures that are genuinely cinematic in sound and vision. The plentiful highlights include warehouse-ready club cuts 'Unconditional Love', 'Spectrum of Light' and 'Out of Darkness', and the ambient sprawl of 'Remarkable Wanderer'. Sci-fi techno at its finest.

Review: Twelve years after the first installment, Terrence Dixon returns to Tresor to follow on where his debut album left off, intent on flinging us into the distance once again. As one of the bravest auteurs in Detroit techno history, there's always a mild sense of unease upon first listen to many of his ideas and concepts, and he's in fine future-shocking form across these tracks, but once calibrated your head can find a lot to catch on to within such loping madness as the atonal melodies and drunken triggering of "Sleight Of Mind". It's not all weirdness though, as the relatively soothing "Horizon" attests, but for truly inventive, genuinely fresh techno you'd be hard pushed to find better than this.

Review: Detroit legend Terrence Dixon's year 2000 opus entitled From The Far Future receives a repress on the home of true techno: Berlin's Tresor. Hailed as one of the key proponents of The Motor City's minimal sound alongside Robert Hood and Daniel Bell, Dixon's stripped, cyclical and soulful productions offered up on this album are viewed by many of his fans as some of his finest moments. There are some skillfully executed tracks on this album. There is of course the bleepy funk functionality of "The Bionic Man", the dusty sci-fi stomp of "One Bedroom Apartment" and the emotively uplifting shuffle of "Hard Times" among many other gems. Definitely one for the heads!

Since 1994, Dixon's presence has become well-established in the global underground for having produced some of the deepest atmosphere in the genre, surfacing especially in the co-production of Juan Atkins' "Skynet" album from 1998 (Tresor 105). This album is essential!

Review: There's something admirable about the Kern series' remit, which asks DJs to dig deep and join the dots between contemporary cuts and lesser-known releases lurking in the far corners of their record collections. DJ Deep did a superb job with last year's first instalment, so the pressure's on German veteran DJ Hell to make this second volume equally special. For the most part, Hell rises to the challenge, offering a fluid, energetic, well-paced trawl through three decades of electronic music. Predictably, there are some brilliant surprises - No Smoke's 1989 Afro dub-house cut "Koro-Koro" and Joey Beltran in deep form for Nu Groove with 1991's "Quad 1" - as well as a smattrering of recent bangers (see DJ Yoav B's "Energize").

Review: DJ Shufflemaster (real name Tatsuya Kanamori) first saw fame with Tresor's release of the 'EXP' album all the way back in 2001, at a time when the Berlin clubbing institution was already aiming to shine a light on techno scenes beyond its own walls. Vastly ahead of its time, the tracks on the album (now once more called to our attention via this reissue) are what we'd have considered ourselves more liable to encounter in the UK in the mid-2010s; tracks like 'Onto The Body' have a broken beat feel to them, and many tracks verge quite readily off the edge of 4x4 kick drum orthodoxy. A compressed and washy techno album drawing on every influence from dub to Brummy sound.

Review: For the latest volume in Tresor's occasional Kern compilation series, the long standing German imprint has turned to balaclava-sporting Detroit legend DJ Stingray. The Drexciya associate has gathered together a typically forthright selection of techno and electro jams, presented here in unmixed form for pure DJ pleasure. Given that all the material is high quality, picking highlights is tough. Our favourites include the deep space electro brilliance of "Musik Politik" by Syncom Data, the trippy, acid-fired madness of vintage Aphex Twin wriggler "Serge Fenix Rendered 2", the throbbing sub-bass and crusty drum machine hits of Herva's "Slam The Laptop" and the bustling techno madness of Dynarec's intergalactic workout "Moving Corridors".

Review: A new Donato Dozzy album is more than news for us, it's a celebration. Apart from the fact that Italy's contemporary techno king is one of our favourite dance music producers, he is also extremely suited to the LP format. Each and every album the Dozzy has put out has, in some way or another, been and remained relevant even years after its release. Much in the same way, his debut alum for Berlin's mythical Tresor comes in the shape of Filo Loves Acid, an eight-track showdown of the man's magic on the 303. Moreover, unlike his previous albums, where space and ambience was significantly explored, this LP revels in its focus of the dancefloor while still retaining a vision and a narrative throughout. A crisp, magnificent production is accompanied by rolling drum machine beats, infinite acid loops, and Dozzy trademark sound. Quality.
