2 B Free (5:57)
House-O-Matic (4:11)
Freak Like Me (3:37)
The 604 (6:00)
Review: Given their previously proclaimed love of ghetto house and its' various similarly minded offshoots, its little surprise to find Glasgow's Numbers crew putting out a "greatest hits" EP from long-serving Chicago producer (and former Dance Mania regular) DJ Deeon. The four cuts that make up Deeon Doez Deeon are not necessarily meant to be his finest moments - though they are all killer - but instead represent the Numbers' crew's favourites. There's plenty to get excited about, from the organ craziness, bumpin' beats and classic disco vocals of "2 Be Free" and blistering "House-O-Matic", to the classic, cut-up vocals and stuttering, ghetto rhythms of "Freak Like Me" (first released way back in 1996).

Channel 83 (6:35)
Local Violence (7:59)
Ritual Killing (7:43)
Drycutting (5:55)
Review: Having made his name during the late '90s and early 2000s as a maker of particularly forthright techno, Oliver Ho has broadened his horizons in recent years. Nowhere is that more obvious on his Broken English Club project, which debuted last year with a pair of industrial and EBM minded releases for Jealous God and Minimal Wave offshoot Cititrax. Here he returns to the latter, laying down more fuzzy, straight-to-tape journeys into analogue, mid '80s dancefloor experimentalism. There's naturally much to enjoy, from the peak Cabaret Voltaire grittiness of "Drycutting", and the bleak EBM throb of "Ritual Killing", to the ghostly synthesizers, Jaydee bass and droning textures of "Channel 83".

Carmine (7:57)
First Found (7:21)
Review: While establishing the Fit Sound imprint affiliated with the Detroit distro outlet of the same name , Aaron 'Fit' Siegel has been careful not to load the imprint with too many of his own productions, choosing instead to deliver material from Marcellus Pittman, Anthony 'Shake' Shakir, MGUN and Dungeon Acid. Here he makes a welcome return with two tracks of melodious, atmospheric, Motor City deepness. "Carmine" is particularly alluring, with twinkling melodies winding their way around yearning pads, bittersweet chords and shuffling, cymbal-heavy percussion. "First Found" is a little more forthright, with off-key pianos and scattergun electronics riding a tougher, locked-in groove.

A Tale Of Two Cities (Efdemin mix) (7:44)
A Tale Of Two Cities (Tobias mix) (6:35)
Review: Here's something to get the juices flowing: an "ultra-limited", white label 12" featuring reworks of material by Detroit veteran Delano Smith, by two powerhouses of Berlin techno: Efdemin and Tobias. The former handles side A, laying down a thrillingly cyclical, hypnotic concoction built around crackly textures, floaty, dubbed-out synthesizer motifs and Efdemin's usual driving, rolling percussion. Tobias opts for a bolder approach on the flip, filling out the sound-space with spacey pads, fizzing beats, a typically tactile Motor City bassline, delay-laden woodblock hits and effortless melodies.

Review: A.1 "Rampage" is an explosive toolish techno tune, that submerges in a dark but atmosferic radiance with heavy pulsating drums and bass lines that engulfes into total deepness. A track frull of atitude. B.1 "Chase" on the flippside is another straight forward thinking production, that overcomes with overdimensional chords and with an intelligent funky sequence that wraps you in again and again.

Hydraulic Jack (6:29)
Hydraulic Pump (5:41)
Artesian Well (6:24)
Review: For their first missive of 2015, legendary German techno label Tresor has turned to two French producers; veteran DJ Deep and fast-rising youngster Roman Poncet. It's the duo's first collaboration, and Hydraulic Pressure shows real potential. They begin by unveiling "Hydraulic Jack", an undulating chunk of hustling loop techno built around fluid synthesizer riffs, starry electronics and thumping bottom end. "Hydraulic Pump" offers an alternative take on the same track, with bumpier percussion and relentless handclaps offering the perfect accompaniment to the headline synth refrain. Finally, "Artesian Well" eschews the fearless pump of techno altogether, instead delivering a yearning, eyes-closed slice of shimmering ambience built around trippy vocal samples and that now familiar synthesizer sequence.

Skip (intro) (5:51)
Sequoflec (2:28)
IE (6:01)
Curtain Scene (3:29)
Review: Skip Intro sees Leipzig artist Mix Mup return to The Trilogy Tapes having scored one of the best releases on Will Bankhead's label so far with that KM/MM LP alongside friend and confidant Kassem Mosse. Though closely associated with the Workshop man, Mix Mup has really developed his own style over the course of the past decade of releases and Skip Intro might be his best work yet. His is a subtle touch; see the manner in which Mix Mup teases an Asian melodic refrain out of nowhere to dominate the title track. Both "Sequoflec" and "IE" are the kind of drum tracks you'll hear Ben UFO slip into a set and wonder for ages what they are, whilst the midi sax on "Curtain Scene" makes it sound like a hollowed out remix of Pender Street Steppers jam "Love Theme (Angelo)".

Review: Having issued some fine music as Nummer for Peure Bleue and Going Good, the London based production partnership of Silvere Letellier and Emmanuel Corre introduce a new project in the shape of Nitejams. Largely gone are the cosmic flourishes of Nummer tracks like "Moon to Jupiter", Nitejams it seems is a chance for Corre and Letellier to get busy with their machinery to produce some no-nonsense techno tools. "B1" is perhaps the one moment where the pair's penchant for deepness takes hold, but the other three tracks are rugged techno workouts that demand your attention. EXhale (Dixon Just A Different Mixdown version) (6:56)
EXplore (Recondite remix) (5:56)
EXpand (Tale Of Us remix) (7:47)
EXposed (Dubfire remix) (13:03)
Review: Four tracks from last year's Plastikman album get the remix treatment with some unlikely results. Innervisions boss Dixon would not be the most obvious candidate to rework Hawtin, but his "just a different mix down version" of "Exhale" sees the German DJ deliver a rolling, acid-fried workout that veers into oceanic chords. Newcomers Recondite and Tale of Us have remixed "Explore" and Expand" respectively. The former's version is dreamy and introverted, while the latter's remix focuses on repetitive, tingling piano lines. Most surprisingly however is Dubfire's version of "Exposed". Instead of big room minimal, the former Deep Dish member drops a hypnotic, pulsing techno workout, led by spiralling acid lines and warbling low end tones.

Caveberg (5:09)

Sublimation (5:53)
Ruins (5:21)
Three Mile Island (3:09)
Review: It's surprising that Stenny have been kept strictly within the bounds of Ilian Tape thus far, given the distinctive nature of their output, but that's all the better for the label. The quality remains pleasingly high on this latest single, while at five tracks they're no slouches on quantity either. "Caveberg" makes a strong opening statement with its fractious groove and dreamy swathes of grainy chords, while "Hagale" represents a more propulsive if no less swinging techno romp. "Sublimation" meanwhile fuses both concerns to make for a thoroughly cosmic approach to tough, jagged techno, and "Ruins" layers its percussion in a thrilling, tribally-influenced formation before "Three Mile Island" cools the record down with a straining, distorted slice of ambience.

Signal 3 (6:23)
Low Strobe (6:22)
Review: Any new single from the musical hive mind of Tom 'Peverelist' Ford and Joe 'Kowton' Cowton is cause for celebration, but Signal 3 is particularly potent even by their high standards. The title track is particularly more-ish, with twisted, looped bleep melodies and muffled rave electronics reclining over a typically dubbed-out, bass-heavy, dystopian rhythm. As with much of their material, it's formidably out there, but with enough weight to the spaced-out groove to suggest real dancefloor potential. "Low Strobe" feels a little deeper - despite its' picturesque elements - with some quietly attractive synth chords adding a surprise shimmer to an otherwise thrillingly low-slung techno groove.

Silent Servant - "Time In Body" (3:44)
Silent Servant - "Severed Union" (4:13)
Review: The sixth issue from Jealous God, and the first of what promises to be another year of intrigue for the label, pairs up visual director Juan Mendez with 51717, aka New York artist Lili Schulder. Any fans of Schulder's 51717 cassette for Opal Tapes or her Shadowlust collaboration with Svengalisghost will be excited by the prospect of some new music committed to wax and she's on wonderfully abstract form here. Listening to opening track "The Glove" is an experience similar to being slowly covered by a viscous liquid to the point of suffocation, with her barely audible spoken word delivery only adding to the sense of foreboding. Complementing this, 51717 provides two shorter but equally striking compositions with "Regard" especially chilling. It's a mood that seeps into the two Silent Servant productions with "Severed Union" ripe mixtape opener material. Do check the mix CD from Surface Tension pair Nihar Bahall & Jason Polastri too!

Review: Increasingly spoken of in hushed tones by the techno community, a new album from the Giegling collective will always be regarded as a big event. It's through the Forum offshoot that has previously delivered fine long players by Vril and Prince Of Denmark that Giegling now present Aufgang, a debut set from mystery production unit Zum Goldenen Schwarm. Previously spotted in fits and spurts, Aufgang represents the most substantial statement from Zum Goldenen Schwarm yet and it's eight tracks of strange atmospheric pieces and immersive deep electronics already feel like another classic Giegling long player. How the title track develops over it's three parts to a quite epic 15 minute finale is particularly satisfying to hear.

Review: Publicity-shy duo Rezzett have latterly become heavily associated with The Trilogy Tapes, delivering two superb 12" singles and a live cassette for Will Bankhead's acclaimed imprint. Goodness, their third EP, continues where its' predecessors left off, packing some distorted, blurry analogue jams blessed with popping percussion and creeping beauty. This is particularly true of the title track, which contrasts hissing cymbals and muddy beats with dreamy chords and world-weary melodies. There's a tougher bump to the similarly gritty "Twizzta", while "Boiling D's" offers a quick blast of ghostly synthesizers and bustling drum machine rhythms.

Review: It's Various Artists time for Mistress Recordings, continuing the hair colour theme that has been running with The Brunette and The Redhead. DVS1's sublabel is known for opening up to more diverse sounds and it shows here, as you get treated to bouncy deep abstractions from Jonas Friedlich, dirty analogue immersion from ASOK, dreamy house music from Nicson and An Gelo, and crisp mournful techno from Kirill Mamin. What binds all these tracks together is the melancholic atmospheres and the tough line in rhythm that goes hand in hand with DVS1's artistic temperament. Both playable and intriguing, there's nothing not to love about this EP.

Review: Fresh from teaming up with Wrong Assessment on Parachute, Italian techno veteran returns to the familiar surroundings of his own M Records imprint, the label he used to launch his career some 15 years ago. Opener "Exceeding Brightness" sets the tone, with nagging, intergalactic loop melodies riding a forthright, heavily compressed techno groove. He opts for a deeper approach on "Architectural Lie", with woozy, near dreamy melodies, thumping kick drums and trippy top-end percussion creating a hypnotic, locked-in groove. Finally, he indulges his melodious side with "Scape Sequences", where looped Marimba melodies tussle with hissing cymbals and stretched-out percussive builds.

Review: During 1993 and 1994, between shifts at Selectadisc, blagging studio time from DiY and looking for a new girlfriend, Nail spent time at home with some borrowed equipment; a TR-808, TB-303, Boss delay pedal and a knackered spring reverb, plus his own Korg MS10. Recording live & straight to cassette, these acid-soaked sessions were given the name 'Sentipede', after a friend at the time saying one of the tracks made them feel like they were being eaten alive by a giant creepy-crawly with lots of legs.
Selected from four D90 cassettes full of tracks, 99:WAVE presents the imaginatively titled "ONE", with just 8 tracks over two slabs of grey vinyl.

Lucy - "Rema Rema Canoero" (11:27)
Donato Dozzy - "OZ Taped" (5:09)
Sendai - "Inverse Array 1" (5:52)
Review: The series of 12"s to celebrate Lucy's Stroboscopic Artefacts surpassing its fifth year in the upper echelons of the techno community has served up some great music so far from Rrose, Perc, LB Dub Corp and more. Yet with a final chapter that features the collective talents of Dozzy, Van Hoesen, De Mey, and Lucy himself, it's tempting to suggest they have saved the best for last! Lucy hogs proceedings with an undeniably epic 12 minute production "Rema Rema Canoero" that commences with what sounds like Satan's laugh sampled processed into the backbone of a rhythm. From here the Italian simply excels himself with a track that builds and builds with churning intensity. Dozzy casts aside any sense of subtlety on the brilliant "OZ Taped" whilst Sendai veer off into broken acid territory with "Inverse Array 1". A fine end to the series.

Here she delivers her first full-length for Opal Tapes' occasional vinyl offshoot, Black Opal. It's perhaps a little less colourful and synthesizer-heavy than previous excursions, instead focusing on dark, fuzzy, heavily percussive takes on acid house and techno. Of course, there are curious interludes - see the wonky industrial IDM of "Prophylaxis" and the beatless synth madness of "Gnome Circle" - but it's the more floor-friendly excursions (and most profoundly the bleak and intense "Hades Gates") that really stand out.

Review: Completing the hair-colour trilogy, DVS1's Mistress sub label presents another four unfamiliar artists with very distinctive styles that fit into the broader vision of what the imprint is all about. Nutype do an astounding job creating a truly exotic and otherworldly atmosphere with "Noisy Ride" before Mike Gervais fires up a truly infectious techno chord swirl offset by utterly magnificent keys. Opinion keeps things tightly packed in despite having all kinds of bubbling matter hopping around under the dub techno chord pulsing throughout "Autobahnkirche", before A&S brings a more classic slamming Robert Hood approach on "Xenix". This double LP album arrives through the ever-impressive Modern Love and features a handpicked selection of tracks from the Death Is Unity With God cassette box set Fernow issued on his own Hospital Productions label last year. If you are not one of the Fernow completists who plumped for that set, you will appreciate the opportunity to delve into the 12 tracks featured here which are a balanced blend of broken, ice-cold techno and finely calibrated drone pieces backed by subtle percussive patterns. There's also plenty of his more raucous beat thrashing and even a few moments of nostalgia. This comes recommended, as per. Another winner from both artist and label.

Review: Jerome Hill's Super Rhythm Trax series operates under a simple manifesto: to re-release lost, forgotten and overlooked acid and techno jams, often with subtle re-edits and remixes from the label boss. This third installment contains a couple more re-interpreted classics. On the A, London acid house veteran Hill remixes Marshall Jefferson Presents Hercules' 1987 Trax classic "Lost In The Groove", giving it a tougher swing, bleep style bassline and an altogether sweatier, basement-friendly feel. On the flip, Hill takes his rusty scalpel to Dancer's eccentric - and largely forgotten - "Boom Boom", lacing the spine-tingling original vocals over a clanking, cymbal-heavy groove, freestyle stabs and ragged acid lines.

Review: Here's an interesting record, as Diagonal man Oscar Powell brings his sinewy brand of wave-inspired techno to XL Recordings for the latest in the label's revived interest in the 12" format. Allegedly inspired by The Specialist, a personal cinematic favourite of Powell, "Sylvester Stallone" is seven minutes of primal body music for the more adventurous selectors. Evol style bleeps signal the track's birth and then Powell maniacally drags ragged post punk rhythms into the depths of sonic chaos. It's every bit as good as his best work for Diagonal, as is B side burner "Smut". Here Powell's ADD approach to programming drums really excels.
