Yossi Amoyal Presents Fluere IV
A1 People - "Do It" (Metamatics remix)
Kosmogonik - "Circuitry"
Silicon Scally - "Relay"
Matt Chester - "November Pathways"
CiM - "Recursive"
Review: Since Zip and Villalobos made it one of their coveted deep digs to be heard pealing out of a thousand after hours sessions, the Metamatics remix of A1 People has been a teasingly out of reach dream grab for many a minimal electro head. Now Yossi Amoyal has done the good deed of getting the track remastered and repressed as part of his Fluere series toasting 15 years of Sushitech. As well as that masterclass of elegant machine funk, there's also Kosmogonik's mind-bendingly brilliant 'Circuitry', Silicon Scally's body-popping electro-noir 'Relay' and Matt Chester's melancholic 'November Pathways' to keep your up-all-night marathon sets peppered with spangled surprises.

Shiva 1.3 (7:03)
Shiva 2.3 (7:31)
Shiva 3.3 (6:51)
Review: Yoyaku's impressive Trimurti trilogy - a set of typically mysterious, hand-stamped 12" singles in their usual style - draws to a close. This time, the unnamed producer at the controls is "C", and the style is pleasingly electro focused. Some may see similarities to the work of Convextion in the bustling electro drum patterns, intergalactic electronics and mystical melodies that surge from the speakers throughout "Shiva 1.3". On the flip, "Shiva 2.3" veers further towards the deepsea electro missives of Detroit legends Drexciya - albeit with a little more melodious intent throughout - while "Shiva 3.3" fuses the producer's usual electro-focused drums with the classic 4/4 swing of tech-house and warm, deep house touches.

Review: Just over a year after the second part in his Colundi Interception series, Capsule Network is back with a third volume. This is a series defined by techno that takes you into outer space. Opener 'Otava' is with laced with ambient pads but also driving and hard edge, then 'Merak' sinks down into a smooth, rolling dub techno groove that is all about your head. 'Alioth' is a suspensory ambient interlude that gets you on edge and then it's back to silky rhythms and sleek synth design on the acid laced pumper 'Dubhe.' The drums break free on the more loose and unhinge closer 'Megrez.'

Review: Captain Mustache is a new energy in the club scene who surfaced with a bang last year and has since notched up releases on Bordello A Parigi, My Favourite Robot, Bedrock and Kompakt no less. Now he's stepping forth with his biggest belters to date on Return To Disorder, kicking off with the massive 'Danger' featuring certifiable legend Paris The Black Fu on vocal duties. 'Floorwax' is also packing some club scene clout into its electro fantasy, with the mighty Foremost Poets sneaking some spooky lyrics into the mix. On the flip, 'Floorwax' gets remixed by Cardopusher and Hrdvision, who respectively jack the track up and freak it right out, widening the scope of the record without leaving the seedy ambience Return To Disorder prefers to lurk in.

Review: CCO (short for Contra Communem Opinionem, fact fans) is the primary recording alias of Florin Buchel, a Swiss producer who has racked up releases on countless well-regarded labels (Drumpoet Community, Lux Rec and Photic Fields included) over the last 13 years. Permanent Revolution, his latest far-sighted, analogue-rich EP, sees him return to Berlin's Omega Man imprint with a follow-up to last year's excellent The Transformation Problem. Like its predecessor, the EP's five tracks blend elements from classic styles - Drexciya, acid house, Larry Heard-ish deep house, beatbox electro, Head High style piano techno, Motor City futurism and so on - with cheery melodies and emotive aural textures. The result is a set of superbly colourful, musically detailed cuts with a genuinely timely, far-sighted feel.

My Mental Madness (6:30)
Chromoscope (6:34)
Megallanic Cloud (6:58)
Review: Italian in Berlin Saverio Celestri returns with more minimal electro that has seen him receive many accolades of late with releases on labels such as Slow Life and Batti Batti. "My Mantal Madenss" sees him work the signature boom and snap of an 808 beneath the metallic bleeps of FM synthesis and gloomy analogue pads. "Chromoscope" goes for something more fierce and breakneck, utilizing the same elements of the previous track into something more lively and reminiscent of early Dopplereffekt or Ultradyne. With that in mind, the final track on the flip entitled "Megallanic Cloud" continues on with some early Detroit aesthetics as well, channeling the spirit of early Model 500 rather impressively.

Review: Following up some spacey wares by the likes of UhU, Corp and Do Or Die, Berlin-based Saverio Celestri is up next on French label Partout. 'Gorilla' starts out with chiming and hypnotic melodies reminiscent of Jeff Mills before unleashing an acid trance inspired fury, then bringing the tempo down for the trippy rave slow burner 'Halloweeen Track' which takes you into mental overdrive. Over on the flip, Celestri summons you aboard the acid express on the frantic energy of 'Critical Cure' while 'Polykboom' sounds like a cross between Lil Louis and early Underground Resistance - give it a listen and you'll hear what we mean.

Review: Statica's debut release, 'M2-9: Wings of a Butterfly', showcases the label's dedication to serving up diverse techno sounds. This split EP, STATICA001, opens with two intense and dancefloor-ready bangers by the prolific Central Intelligence on the A-side, and both are packed with visceral drum energy and synth unpredictability. The B0side features Madrid-based Victor Reyes, who delivers two reflective but also emotionally charged 4/4 workouts that create a compelling contrast that embodies Statica's "Forces in Equilibrium" ethos. Inspired by the unique butterfly-shaped nebula Minkowski 2-9, this release is a fresh and impactful fusion of power and sensitivity.

Review: Cignol's debut on Nocta Numerica is a super one that explores plenty of interplanetary electro vibes. 'Overview' launches the trip with tight drum programming and astral pads that immediately make a sci-fi mood. 'Set to Sync' pairs a roaming lead synth with crisp arps that cast your mind free before 'Somewhere In Your Mind' brings shimmering chords and popping kick drums and hits to the fore. This is smooth Drexcyian electro remained in the combos rather than the ocean and closer 'Memory Minor' is the most pensive of the lot, but still has a nimble bassline powering it along.

Peace Of Mind (Electrosoul)
Tone
Contact
Signifier
Review: Chuck 'em in a black bag and give 'em a blotchy stamp. That's Delsin's modus operandi when it comes to re-releasing their favourite older material. And following their re-up of Son.Sine's beautiful Upekah 12", Claro Intelecto's first ever release makes its way on to the prominent Dutch label, a solid decade after it was first released on the now defunct Ai Records. For that 'must have' feeling "Tone" is the track you want to hear first; a gnarly acid work out of Drexciya-influenced techno that's been dragged through the mud and sounds all the better for it. Before that though there's a deeper and electro-leaning "Peace Of Mind (Electosoul)", and while "Signifier" mirrors it somewhat, it's deep house that's pure as the driven snow. And if you needed any more proof that Intelecto is the master of a phat-bassline, look no further than "Contact".

Review: Bristol label-turned-blog Innate launches a new sub-label, Innate Editions, which it says is dedicated to timeless UK techno, IDM, electro and ambient music, and it'll all come on heavyweight vinyl to boot. The first release revives Connective Zone's Palm Palm, a millennium-era cult classic and Ben UFO favourite that first came out on Mark Broom and Dave Hill's Unexplored Beats in 2001. Now, this long-out-of-print, expensive and hard to find gem has been remastered by Jamie Anderson and so sounds superb with many lavish electronic layers, richly emotive melodies and dynamic drums that lean on UK techno, IDM, and deep electro. Sounds as good now as it ever did.

Review: Much is made of the love that Bill Converse from Austin, Texas, has for classic music making hardware (as opposed to the computer-based solutions most find convenient these days), but at the end of the day it's the results he gets rather than the means that have cemented his reputation as one of the most interesting names operating in the US today. This six track selection is no exception, suitably freed-up from convention or restriction and executed with a radioactive excitement that shines directly out of the grooves. Check the rapid fire snares of 'The Last Time', the eerie, horn-like screeches of 'Measurement (Of What?)' or 'Take Apart', with its ascending Detroit-style bassline, for further proof, or just dive in and enjoy the whole lot.

When not running the Carpet & Snares (and its affiliated shop), the Groovement label or doing A&R for Chez Damier's long running Inner Balance Music imprint, he's releasing some brilliant music - as heard on this year's Choice EP - one of our favourite records of this year. He now presents some new deep space transmissions via his Lisbon HQ, under new alias Conversion here and inaugurating the eponymous imprint. Reflective electro, Motor City techno and beatless trips are explored, dedicated to sonic excursions away from his housier roots.

Silencio (4:47)
Review: Patrick Conway is back on ESP Institute for a third time and the returns are as brilliant as the first two outings with plenty of emotional depth on display. Opener 'Loss' sets a melancholic tone with a repeating high piano note guiding a poignant chord progression, angelic voices and a modulating synth all sinking you in. That contrasts with a gritty rhythm section made from corroded dancehall elements all bathed in saturation for added authenticity. On the B-side, 'Silencio' explores negative space and rhythmic dialogue using anthemic synth stabs to unify the more meandering melodies. When chaos and order synchronise with force like this, there is fun to be had.

'New Tech Swing' is slow and tests you as it churns over, with prickly hits and slithering electro bass, while 'Die Welt' brings a more dark vibe that is haunting and star-gazing. 'Slaves Of War' is another track focussed don atmosphere with is slow, sludgy beats and dehumanised vocals. 'Jus Tee Naa' is a drunken rhythm with kicks and bass and acid twitches all piled up on top of one another and threatening to collapse at any time.

Review: Phantasy Sound has described Cromby's first outing on the label as an "emergent anthem". Whether title track 'Que Sientes', which boasts a suitably sassy Spanish lead vocal from Tee Amara, becomes an anthem remains to be seen, but there's a lot to enjoy about it. What's on offer is energetic, retro-futurist electro rich in sweaty drum machine percussion fills, stabbing electronic bass and chiming melodies, all topped off with Amara's stylish vocals. An instrumental take is available on side B, alongside an atmospheric, echoing, acid-flecked revision from Nicola Cruz that sits somewhere between electro and tech-house.

Review: Ecuadorian maestro Nicolas Cruz is back on Rhythm Seciton to follow up his last EP Subtropique which proved a big hit. "I'm always trying to re-interpret this Afro-Caribbean feeling, and trying to figure out how I could humanize this through the machines," he says of his approach and it certain is the case here. He mixes up some worlds rhythms with twitchy techno drums and electronic synths to make for something totally new on all of the tracks. The heavy, skipping kicks of 'Residual Heat' is a real favourite while 'Self Oscillation' is a catering percussive jam to pack the floor. Another great outing.

Legendary Drexciyan DJ Stingray rewires the original into an inimitable, fast-paced electro-techno hybrid for the next millennium. Review: Former M_nus cohorts Marc Houle and Click Box join forces to deliver this four-tracker on Houle's Items & Things label, and the results are naughty, synth rich jams that follow on neatly from Houle's career to date in bringing a little touch of Italo to modern dance music. There is a palpable amount of fun being had within these tracks, from the tongue-in-cheek vocals to the on-the-fly tweaks and wobbles, but the tracks that emerge from the melee are sturdy enough for any floor. "Freaky Baby" holds down a deadly, bass-laden groove, while "Cable Line" calls to mind the work of mid-00's Soma tech-funk.

On the first side of Trust XY2 you have a true force to be reckoned with in the form of Microthol X Ultradyne with the sinister Detroit computer funk of 'Hostile Invasion' (Land Of Injustice mix) followed by the inimitable Peder Mannerfeldt's industrial-edged reconstruction of Clatterbox's 'Semi-Automatic'. And so it is with this one, which sees CiM return with a nine track opus that has been crafted from his own personal Amiga archives. The project started way back in the 90s and was inspired by the electronica and techno of that time. Simon Walley then set to writing his own sounds via old school tracker techniques and ended up with his own unique style. Most of the tunes here were record own the fly and sound nice and imperfect, lived in and real. There are fire-fly like melodies and crunchy drums, electro basslines and many more gorgeous moments on this tidy record.

Having released just one other EP from Lowtec, Blundar now presents a new untitled LP from Cortex that should satisfy fans of his leftfield approach to techno in all its forms. "Track 2" is a masterclass in how to work breakbeats into techno without sounding forced or false, while "Track 4" blooms from delicate ambience to snagging broken beat with the grace you can only find with such a seasoned vet. Spanning many moods, tempos and rhythms, this is a perfect demonstration of the many engrossing approaches Cortex can attempt and succeed at within the many-sided realm of techno.
