Review: Jacopo Latini is an Italian producer just breaking through with some choice releases on Mood Waves and Conceptual Moods. He's back on the former label with a lush new 12" of progressive house that leads in with the epic strains of 'Rumore Bianco' - the kind of track to get a crowd swooning thanks to its emotive, plaintive tone. 'Illusion' leans in a little more on the bassline, but there's no shortage of melodic flourishes on top and the subtle fleck of trance we're used to hearing in house music these days. 'Rumore Rosso' is a punchier affair, while 'Synthesy (Acid Dub)' sports a more explicitly 90s flavoured demeanour

Review: Under the border umbrella of the Yoyaku crew, Kord El makes a strong debut appearance with this first EP on Superbanger. The vibe on the record is instantly detectable as balmy, trippy tech house which stays on the subtle side of the trance spectrum and lets the groove take centre stage. 'Kryptonight' is a swirling, hazy mind warp peppered with samples and hypnotic chimes, anchored by the warmest of basslines. 'Grammy' is a slightly techier, dubbier affair for when the party's fired up a notch, and 'Stereo Solitude' plays around with breaks in a delicate fashion for maximum rolling effect. 'Phantone Zone' slips a little 303 into the soup, and makes it sound wholly natural in another prime slice of contemporary wigged-out house.

Review: The Cosmic Soup label did some mighty fine work in bringing Howard Dodd's work as Doc Bozique and Anoesis back into ear shot. Dodd released a fair clutch of wiggy, trance-inflected house and techno back in the wild old days of the mid-90s, and so it's no surprise to hear his music finding new relevance at a time when that sound is so warmly received on dancefloors all over the place. This release for German label Spray pulls together a few different bits from 1994, ranging from 'Heavy Water' and 'Diact' from The Anoesis EP to 'Trouble Down Groove' from Eight Day Music. Bringing the relevance with the current zeitgeist in no uncertain times, we're also treated to a remix courtesy of a scene leader in this field, D. Tiffany.

Review: Big up the Hoarder label for arriving at a quarter of a century of relases and doing so with such a fine offering from Mennie. It's a potent sound explored from the off with 'Tuncha' landing on kicks so heavy they will rattle walls as wispy synths dart about and an old school bass sound throws it back. 'Want You Print' is another prog-laced 90s tinged and psychedelic sound then 'Noha' takes off on a wave of warm, heads up, blissed out chords accompanied by some classic finger clicks. Review: Josh Ludlow shows that he knows a thing or two about crafting superb arps and lush prog house records with this new outing on Nocturne Music. 'Mindways' is a brilliantly colourful opener with neon lines and bubbling sequences over fleshy drums. 'Touch' channels a bit of Metro Area style nu-disco production with its cowbells, textured bassline and late-night allure, and 'A Little Love' then gets more deep cut and steamy with some sensuous vocals and vast, pillowy kicks. Last of all is the more textural and raw tech-disco stepper 'Diska Tek!' to complete the package.

Review: Vicari brings some superb machine funk to this new EP on OGE. 'Angela' opens up with wobbly low ends that, to our ears, pay little tribute to a classic Mylo vs Miami Sound Machine riff, that are offset by snappy drums and some lush swirling melodies. After the fleshy and deeper dub comes 'My Spell' which is more bubbly, trippy and loose with its glistening sci-fi- pads and squelchy bass. The third and final original is a third different sound - 'Isolated From My Self'. This one is a jumbled of off-grid hits and detuned keys that brings great unbalance to the dance floor.

Review: he North Macedonia label Pirka releases its fifth album and features four excellent tracks by the longtime producer Vincent Casanova. Things begin with the addictive melodic burner 'Mikey's Attic", which has a great balance of being futuristic with being retro enough to get everyone to the dancefloor. 'Euphoria' is bit more reserved but deeper. The track sneaks up on you as rhythmic elements continue to change and evolve under this excellent bassline. The track is carefree and fun that makes for an enjoyable time. On Side two, 'Strike' is more up-tempo jam that we cannot get enough of while 'Lush Void' might be our favorite of the bunch. This spacey romp into the cosmos is not only beautiful but it feels in constant motion like you are on a magic carpet ride. This EP has something for everyone!

Review: Berlin based label Solenoid is headed up by Erta Ale, aka Italian producer Fabrizio Nocci. His latest release continues the theme of warm, big room house music he's been pushing for some time now, kicking off with the swirling pads and thumping rhythm section of 'Nirvana'. It's got a distinctly early 90s vibe, with plenty of melodic hand holds to dig your fingers into, while 'Panorama' has a swishy, disco-tinted sassiness to take you away in the heat of the night. 'The Cure' kicks off the B side with a springy, techy approach that doesn't hold back on the big synth lines, and then We Amps steps up for a remix of 'Panorama' which keeps things funky without losing that peak time demeanour which persists throughout the record.

Review: Having dipped into the label's bulging archives earlier in the year to offer up a freshly remastered edition of 'Klarky Kat' by Gumbo (a rare collaboration between label bosses Attaboy and Swag's Chris Duckenfield), Toko has returned to the vaults for another essential reissue. 'In Too Deep' hails from 1997, when it marked the fifth release on the Sheffield-based imprint. Reflective of the sound played at legendary Sheffield deep and tech-house party Scuba, the title track is a sultry and saucer-eyed affair, with sustained synth-strings, tactile riffs and luscious melodic motifs wrapping around an hypnotic deep house-meets-tech-house groove. In contrast, 'In Deeper' is a much more minimalistic, tech-tinged affair, close in sound and tone to Swag productions of the period - all deep, undulating bass, effects-laden weirdo noises and locked-in beats.

Review: New Zealander via Berlin Philippa's passion for house music, tireless commitment to her craft and ear for what makes a dancefloor tick is slowly but surely starting to pay off. With her recent release, 'Rainy Nights', on Slothboogie and 'Things I'd Like To Be' for Razor n Tape getting a lot of love, Philippa continues to deliver the goods, further lending remixes for Fat Freddy's Drop (The Drop) and Roach Motel (Faith). Here on the 'Latent Magic' EP we're treated to three new tracks highlighting Philippa's deft touch and musical approach to making interesting and leftfield house. Opener 'Hold' sets the tone with lush orchestral strings, crunchy drums and a bouncing analog synth bassline, while 'There It Is' umums hints of Mr Scruff with looping horn stabs, live drum grooves and rolling basslines. All in all, another mighty fine Philippa release recalling the early days of Freerange when artists such as Square One, Shur-i-kan and Jimpster were melding live musicians with electronics, for a refreshing, UK-centric take on house music.

There's electroclash-style rawness from Kovyazin D, Lipelis & Cosmic G explore a more celestial sound that will place you amongst the heavens and Gleb Filipchenkow shuts down with slow, elastic, acid laced gurgles on his 'Mieux La' (feat Ode).

Review: After debuting on Kaizenrecordsberlin back in 2020, Gauvain finally makes a second appearance with this sure-footed EP for Shaque & DJ Tjizza's Berlin-based label Mood Waves. There's a sense of the trancey tech house scene in the playful threads running through these tracks - cheeky synth lines with a little wriggle to them and plenty of ear-catching samples. 'Suspended Animation' is an especially flamboyant cut, but really they're all out to bring a little naughtiness to the dancefloor and inspire some sharply defined figures to be thrown. Even when things get moodier on 'The Pier, 1962', there's an irrepressible sense of fun which leaves a lasting impression.

Review: Italian trio Paradise City Breakers are hardly prolific - this return to Discarded Gems is just their third EP since emerging in 2020 - but their slim catalogue is packed to the rafters with artful and club-ready gems. They hit the ground running this time round with title track 'Televised Justice', a throbbing, undulating roller built around smooth house drums, Italo-disco style arpeggio bass and spacey melodies, before opting for a more trippy and sub-heavy retro-futurist sound on 'Lekkerbit', where intergalactic electro style lead lines catch the ear. It has excelled at mining a rich vein of electronic sounds where space music, techno, electro and minimal all combine into fresh new forms. Wickham is next up with some colourful and creative party sounds on this 11th label EP. 'Lost Grain' is all bouncy bass and splashy cymbals, 'Busker' is a stripped-back tech pumper and 'Crowded' has lively and playful synth stabs that will get any floor vibing. The flipside offers three more similar tight, vivid yet spaced out dancefloor gems.

Review: The superb Craigie Knowles label is often a place to check out some mad fresh electro but for this one, it welcomes Primitive Needs who head off down a progressive techno trip that will remind you of the 90s even if you didn't experience them the first time around. On opener 'Mesomorph' the drum programming is fresh and slick and the synths are searching, as they spray about the mix with a hint of old-school video game charm. 'Rhizome' rides on high-speed tech drums that are coloured by the warped lines and stabs that peel off them constantly. There is a kinetic bounce to 'Hypha Dose' that will make any floor step things up a notch and 'Desert Power' closes with real soulful urgency and hints of trance magic.

Review: Chris Stussy's Up The Stuss label is one of the hottest out there right now - a fresh label setting the underground with its mix of spaced out breaks and deep house, slick minimal and futurist techno sounds. Review: Tel Aviv-born producer and DJ Guy J returns with two key pieces, State Of Trance and Anonymous, for Lost & Found. Paying direct homage to the hypnotic oeuvre of early trance classics, both tracks here lay down a sweet, burgeoning mood of entrainment - the breakdown on the A-side removes the kick drum halfway, locking in a rhythmic nerviness that many trance artists would be afraid of indulging. Meanwhile, the B-sider mires arpy rapture in loud textures of wind and thunder, dropping out most of its elements into a ghostly, gargantuan haze before dropping them back into a minimal, gobby drop.

Review: Over the past ten years brothers Sasha and Sergey Lipsky have been throwing down their own brand of wayward grooves as Simple Symmetry, tapping into a kind of cosmic sound which has been right at home on labels like Disco Halal. Now the Russiann pair have arrived on Multi Multi after teasing the connection with a compilation offering in 2021. On this EP we get dark n' dirty electro throb, ascendant trancey techno, sentimental sax-laden wooze-house (think 'Pacific State' on luudes) and a remix from kindred spirits Red Axes which will do maximum damage on the floor.

Review: Night Vibez first outing on vinyl is a limited affair, with only 200 copies available worldwide. It sees Steb join forces with Dario Rossi for 'Karius 1979', a shimmering, impactful late-night number that giddily blurs the boundaries between sci-fi deep house, trippy nu-disco, and strobe-lit Italo-disco of the sort more associated with basements in The Hague than open-air clubs in Italy. Van Der Kirche and THC kick-start the accompanying remix package with a bouncy, stab-happy breakbeat take that sounds like it could have been recorded in 1990 or 91, before big guns Marvin & Guy re-frame it as a throbbing Chic-meets-Italo-disco workout. To round things off, the Feel Fly 'Piano Emozione' mix is a dreamy, piano-laden trance number that recalls the mid-90s excellence of Robert Miles.

Review: Natural Frequencies is an all new imprint from Handy Records that welcomes Boulderhead for a fine debut. The artist hits a superb sweet spot here between bounce and drive in the worlds where techno, electro and prog all meet. 'My Other Brain Is Artificial' is a twitchy cut wired with sinewy electronics over rubbery drums. Luca Lozano remix with more wonk and 'Adaptive Biotech' then gets trippy with some glowing harmonics over the lithe tech drums and day-lo synth leads. The flips side offers serene and cosmic colour with 'Cyborg Frogs' and then the broke beats come to the fore on the speedy, frisky 'Humanlike'.

Review: Habitat Recordings is an art platform from Mind Against which seeks to explore a variety of formats and modes of expression, but here they're focusing on the good old techno 12" with the finely curated pairing of Dyzen, Syderal and Recondite. First up on the A-side is Dyzen and Syderal with their catchy, chunky anthem 'Dialogue'. Then Dyzen goes it alone with a vinyl pressing for his digital single 'Radiant', which takes cosmic disco influences in the direction of big room techno. Finally, Recondite remixes 'Dialogue' and smooths out some of the edges for a straight-trucking version that keeps the original vibe very much intact.
