Brique - "The Future" (6:16)
Brique - "Customer Service Meltdown" (7:12)
Babu - "Apollo" (5:57)
Babu - "American War" (6:02)
Review: Brique and Babu step up for two tracks each on this nice and cosmic new tech house offering from the Quinoa Cuts label. Brique get first with a deft blend of silky synth designs and snappy tech house drums. It's both driving and physical but nice and heady at the same time. His 'Customer Service Meltdown' has more textural, fizzy synths snaking their way through the crispy tech beats, then Babu's 'Apollo' has an acid-laced sound and cyborg vocals piped in. Last of all is 'American War' with more tight, bobbing beats and electro-tinged rhythms.

Sexual Desire (6:02)
Mental Effect (6:55)
The Light Device (6:10)
Modern Primitive (5:14)
Review: The Jooice label returns with regular artist Deyayu on four more raw minimal cuts. 'Sexual Desire' pairs nagging synth leads the burrow deep with slinky tech house drums. There is more zip to 'Mental Effect' which flashes with cosmic melody as dystopian tension rises up from below. 'The Light Device' has a more playful edge and a disco-tech feel with its balmy pads and last but not least is the 80s-referencing electro cruise that is 'Modern Primitive' with its squelchy acid bassline. All four of these bring plenty of synth craft and cosmic freshness to the party.

AFK (6:10)
I Just Wanna (6:18)
Stay Close To Me (5:04)
Weedbounce (5:04)
Human (5:05)
Review: Heko Records welcomes DJ Cream to the label for a debut outing that resents the Italian artist's vibrant style. It's a potent mix of dynamic drum sounds which are inspired by the late 90s and early 2000s and is well-timed to land during summer. 'AFK' is an upbeat retro-future tech house trip, while 'I Just Wanna' slows down a touch and allows more pensive chord work to shine. 'Stay Close To Me' flips the script with some slapping analogue percussion and splashy pads with a cosmic edge and the variety continues with the deeper vibes of 'Weedbounce' and AI sound designs of 'Human'.

2000's (7:19)
Kosmove (8:34)
Rokicks (6:52)
Motiv (6:08)
Review: We're told that these tunes on the new Kest 12" were "recorded in the path of the Andean mountains that crosses the whole city of Bogota," which is where the label is based. Whether or not that adds anything specific to the sounds we're not sure but they are nice minimal grooves all the same. '2000s' is a light, airy number with pulsing synths that move it onward. 'Kosmove' is more trippy with its psychedelic patterns looping over crisp metal beats. 'Rokicks' brings some prog and acid hints from the 90s and 'Motiv' shuts down with a nice celestial and dreamy number for the heads.

019 2 (7:12)
019 3 (7:30)
019 4 (7:40)
Review: The sublime minimal sounds of Atipic are enough t melt the minds of anyone when heard on the right sound system at 5am. Dumitrescu is next up to take the baton for the label and his contribution is up there and is as good as any of the previous 18. '019 1' marries grinding grooves to smeared sci-fi pads and spoken words from a spacecraft's tannoy system. '019 2' is more balmy with some colourful synth motifs and gurgling basslines bring the snappy beats to life. '019 3' rides on deft and dusty breakbeats with sustained synth swirls adding plenty of cosmic energy and closer '019 4' has a more playful side but still plenty of zippy synth work.

Just A Little Bit (11:36)
Review: Few in electronic music have the wizardry on synths as Mathew Jonson, the classically trained jazzman who brings endless invention and rich design to his tracks. Many of them over the years have come on the Crosstown Rebels label and that is where he lands now. 'Tako Tako' kicks off with inquisitive leads that come with a sense of uncertainty and paranoia over thudding deep techno drums. On the flip side is 'Just A Little Bit' with its snappy finger clicks and bubbling drums that are lithe and rubbery. It's another terrific two-tracker from this legend of the scene.

I Can Fly (6:32)
Reflections (5:39)
Tension & Passion (7:36)
Review: Sentaku's eighth release, made by none other than producer Louison, introduces listeners to two mythical Japanese deities: Izanagi & Izanami. Through their divine union, this pair gave birth to the islands of Japan and laid the foundation for all life therein to flourish. Playing up the philosophy of duality that underlies much of Eastern spirituality (a vinyl record has two sides, lol), this impressively light, airy, yet no less compelling dance record makes for a happily raw aeration, with the likes of 'I Can Fly' and 'Tension & Passion' balancing an unbearable lightness of being - the likes that enjoyed by one such wind god - with the coarse weight of the Earth's newfound soils. Japan's primordial genesis is expressed in ecstatic form here.

Diggers Society Vol 1
Miki, Andrea Melly, Niki IL B - "432 Birds" (7:44)
Francesco Farfa - "Fear" (5:35)
Luca Piermattei - "Magical Year" (6:13)
Lucio - "Paranoid Hills" (6:21)
Review: Diggers Society Vol 1 is the inaugural release from the underground electronic music label Diggers Society, based in Barcelona. This EP showcases the label's diverse musical philosophy, featuring two tracks from legends Francesco Farfa and Miki (with collaborators Niki IL B and Andrea Melly) and two tracks from emerging talents Luca Piermattei and Lucio. Side-1 opens with 432 Birds' by Miki, Andrea Melly, and Niki IL B, a hypnotic track perfect for setting a sci-fi atmosphere. Following is Francesco Farfa's 'Fear,' a groovy, bassline-heavy tune with a trancey melody that keeps the energy high. Side-2 features Luca Piermattei's 'Magical Year,; a track that continues the EP's entrancing vibe. The closing track, Lucio's 'Paranoid Hills,' is a wicked and ominous techno piece infused with psy trance elements, offering a dark, compelling end to the night. Diggers Society Vol 1 is a really cool take on the future of techno and trance equally.

Fire (4:35)
Review: MYOKEN's self-titled release on their own label brings a fresh take on Adele's classics, blending Disco and Nu-Disco elements. Side-1 features 'Roll,' a high-energy, pumping electro house track that transforms Adele's original into a dance floor stormer. The infectious beats and driving rhythm make it a standout. Side 2's 'Fire' offers a low bubbling, darker cover of 'Set Fire to the Rain,' giving the track a more intense vibe. The brooding basslines and atmospheric production add depth, making it a great balance to the first side. MYOKEN's reinterpretations breathe new life into these well-known songs, perfect for dance fans.

Moonlight (Alfa mix) (7:27)

Moonlight (Alex Neri remix) (6:29)
Moonlight (Alessio Collina Tribe Acid remix) (6:00)
Review: In its formative years in the first half of the 1990s, IRMA offshoot Calypso Records released some of the finest Italo-house records of the period. By the middle of the decade, though, the imprint was dipping its toe into darker and infinitely more druggy territory. DJ Nabile's 'Moonlight', featuring some chanted and spoken lead vocals byLucio Baradel, played a key role in this transformation. All these years on, it still sounds fresh. Side A boasts two of the earliest versions: the mind-mangling 'Alfa Mix', where dark and moody, Tenaglia-esque motifs ride an extra-percussive tribal house groove, and the more rolling 'Gamma Mix'. Over on the flip you'll find two previously unreleased takes - a throbbing, heavy and warped bass-propelled Alex Neri revision, and Alessio Colina's stomping and hallucinatory 'Tribe Acid Remix'.

1 Life (acappella mix) (3:00)
Review: Perel launches her own new label Hits Hits Hits! with a potent new single that is backed by a great remix from Canadian talent Jex Oplois. The lead tune on this 12", which also comes with a sticker, is '1 Life', a full throttle and thumping cut that is packed densely with 90s tribal techno synth sounds, old school house piano chords and a nice r&b vocal all of which serve to sweep you up and journey you to the stars. After the instrumental comes the remix from Jex Opolis that dials things back and makes it even more zoned out and subtly euphoric.

Review: With its next release, Rezpektiva's Prozpektiva series platforms an artist they think is a future star of the minimal and techno scene. Pi hails from Montevideo, Uruguay, which is where a few new school names have emerged in recent times. He has served up singles on labels such as Holistico Records, White Scar and Lutzifer but this is his first solo EP. It's an intriguing mix of techno, breakbeat and electro with heady melodic tones up top all making for a great mix of snappy low ends and captivating emotions that bring freshness to the floor.

Review: Last Night On Earth is trance legend Sasha's current label outing, and it is now celebrating its ninth year of platforming fresh, tittillating talent. Sasha still continues to release original music through the imprint, and here follows up 2023's 'Track 10' with a glistening new collaboration with Sentre, 'Glastacy'. The structure of this new 12" reveals the process of its composition, which is more than can be said for most trance records, which otherwise tend to revel more in the finished product. The B-sider reveals the looping, mesmerising vocal sample around which the A-side version is constructed, emphasising that, despite the decision to turn 'Glastacy' into a punchy, depthy, hi-tech prog-trance heater, none of these are essentials, more embellishments that evince the pure freedom evoked in the track. More tracks should be made with these 'backbones' in mind.

5am Gillian House (6:10)
Intergalactic Space Time Travel (6:18)
Review: The Comfort's commitment to heady, innovative dance music shines in their fourth release from Terraflow, aka Alasdair Jenkins. Mystic Vista, the debut record from this London-based producer, is a great example in quality and creativity, clearly inspired by The Comfort's founder. The record opens with 'Dysania,' a dramatic, synth-heavy track underpinned by a vortex-inducing bass. Mystical and inviting, it sets a attention getting tone. Next, 'Clay' roots itself in the essence of electro music, elevated by an irresistible groove - perfect for those moments when you want time to stand still on the dance floor. On Side-2 things shift gear from melancholic to intense with '5am Gillian House,' a trance-influenced track that feels like a fast-paced race, ideal for the peak hours of the night. The journey concludes with 'Intergalactic Space Time Travel,' a track true to its name, blending dynamic melodies with funky, progressive elements. Mystic Vista is an unforgettable auditory experience. Get ready to be transported.

Review: ZHU is something of an album specialist. This latest full-length, Grace, represents his fourth overall and is a rather special triple vinyl affair on heavyweight wax. It comes some two and a half years after his last back in December 2021 and arrives once more via Astralwerks. The GRAMMYr-nominated artist has revealed that he recorded most of this one in his hometown of San Francisco at the celebrated Grace Cathedral, which is where it gets its name. He also worked with others at points, including Devault and BabyJake on his first album single 'Revelations'. This one has already performed well and claimed a spot on Rolling Stone's list of "All The Songs You Need To Know This Week" upon release.
