Review: Sometimes known as Inokasira Rangers, Park Rangers are a Japanese band who have spent much of the last decade releasing inspired but unlikely instrumental reggae covers of massive rock, pop and disco hits. This 7" single boasts two of their most popular covers, starting with a ridiculously cheery and almost hilariously cheeky version of Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'. Built around a 1960s style rocksteady riddim, it's instantly recognisable thanks to the band's choice to track the tune of Cobain's lead vocal (which naturally isn't present) with a Hammond organ solo. On the flip you'll find a deep reggae-disco cover of Kool & The Gang classic 'Summer Madness'; it's good, but nowhere near as fine as the surprising A-side.

Review: Calling all Happy People, roll up for a bloody time old time at the hands of this playful ska 45 from Phoenix City All Stars. It's a cover and mash up job that brims with life. 'Ghost Town' becomes an even more expressive sound thanks tot he big horns and swaying drums and 'Stereotype' is a big old rhythm with funky guitar riffs and walls of drums. On the flip side is a beefed up take on 'One Step Beyond' with lands of live instrumentation and a funky lead sax then 'The Prince' is a little more subtle and paired back with its twinkling keys and sunny disposition.

Review: The Phoenix City All-stars follow up their 2 Tone Gone Ska album with their vibrant ska take on the Rolling Stones classic '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction.' This unique cover comes with seductive brass sounds and big horn stabs, all with a lively and dynamic ska rhythm that cannot fail together you on your toes. On the flip is 'Play With Fire', another tune taken from their Skatisfaction album back in 2014. Like the a-side, it has been a big tune for years with its buoyant brass, swaggering drums and hypnotic lead horns. Two perfect party tunes for sure.
