Synthesisers

Synthesisers – or synths – are the fundamental building blocks of most electronic music. Whether analogue or digital, a hardware synth is any instrument which generates sound using electronic circuits. Most of the great synths are keyboards, but there are a lot more choices, including desktop modules and modular systems. Our range includes old-school analogue synthesisers and reissues of vintage classics, plus the latest digital workstations, patchable semi-modular instruments and portable models suitable for live performance or making music on the go. With such a wide variety of synths on offer, there’s something to suit everyone, from budget options for beginners through to premium models for pro studios. Brands like Arturia, Korg and Roland offer excellent value for money, while the likes of Moog and Waldorf offer some of the best high-end options for those who want something a little more advanced.

Black Corporation Kijimi MK2 8-Voice Analogue Synthesiser
Cat: 1029533 Rel: 05 Mar 25

8-voice analogue synthesiser with polyphonic aftertouch, MPE & microtuning
Notes: Inspired by the RSF Polykobol, the mighty Kijimi is a serious analogue synth, packing eight voices of two-VCO architecture and SSI2140-based filters. MK2 upgrade features more powerful firmware, extensive LFO options and neat wooden end panels.

Supplier's Notes:
KIJIMI MK2 is crafted to be one of the most powerful polysynths ever built, all behind intuitive front-panel controls, from its continuous timbral variation to its exhaustive modulation matrix. The Black Corporation original features planetary-sized analog sound, inspired by the best of rare and classic synths, but unique to our own parallel galaxy.

Continuous analogue timbral control

Instead of fixed waveforms, KIJIMI's voltage-controlled oscillators can morph continuously through waveform types. Sine, triangle, sawtooth, and variable pulse waves are smoothly variable, with pulse width as you turn to the far right. It's a scheme that provides unique, independent timbral over each of the eight voices.

Deep 8-voice architecture

Each of KIJIMI 's 8 voices features 2 analogue oscillators each with a square sub-bass oscillator, for buttery timbres with extensive sound design options. The sub-oscillator produces an octave lower than the combined VCO1 and VCO2 outputs, meaning you can tune two sub-pitches. Hard sync is available in VCO sync and VCO1->2 and 2->1 configurations for maximum flexibility. There's also a noise source for adding bite and percussion components. A rich lowpass filter is built around the legendary 2140 chip and the ability to frequency-modulate it via VCO2, creates a full range of sounds from metallic and aggressive to subtle. Both filter cutoff and resonance are available as modulation destinations.

Unique envelope functionality with dedicated controls

Two ADSR envelopes come with independent rate multipliers, keyboard control of attack rate, and versatile routing. Engage the CYCLE button for a cycling trapezoidal mode, similar to that on vintage instruments like the EMS Synthi. Few polysynths offer this level of detailed control, let alone with front-panel controlsino menu diving needed.

Endless modulation programmability

Modulation possibilities set the KIJIMI apart from other polysynths. Two LFOs can be routed independently to up to eight destinations, directly on front-panel buttons, controlling frequency and waveform modulation, sub-oscillator amount, filter cutoff and frequency, and amplitude modulation. Each LFO includes multiple waveform options (sine, triangle, saw, ramp, square, random) and separate attack and decay knobs in addition to rate. ADSR2 sports four independent destinations, also via front-panel push buttons and knobs. Even velocity and aftertouch get their own dedicated control section for applying velocity or aftertouch to each parameter (LFO rate, waveform morph, sub, pitch bend, and VCA). Dedicated knobs let you apply your aftertouch and poly-aftertouch, to taste, right where you want it. You'll rarely use the menus, and when you do, it'll only be to unlock even more advanced functionality (like multiple LFO features!). KIJIMI is a rare case of fusing straightforward one-control-per-feature design with unrestricted possibilities.

Full MIDI and expressive control, tuning support

Combine all the elements, and KIJIMI is an instrument that's playable like no other. Each note you play separately triggers modulation, independently on each voice, with full control via aftertouch. Add in full MIDI control, complete MIDI polyphonic expression (MPE) support, advanced tuning capabilities (including microtuning via SCALA and 128 memory locations for tuning settings), and velocity polyphonic aftertouch, each with up to six more destinations with its own bipolar settings. KIJIMI finally brings a synthesizer architecture that can unlock the possibilities of your expressive controller of choice.

Updated package

The MK2 version of KIJIMI includes all the acclaimed sonic power and character of its predecessor, in an improved package. Updated firmware now includes the ability to assign different LFO settings (rate, waveform, envelope, and depth) to each individual destination. In addition to 128 factory and 1152 user presets, we've included user banks by Mathew Jonson, Richard Devine, and Paul Schilling. All this comes in a compact, 2.71kg/5.97 lb device with wood panels attached (or the option of metal rack ears instead). DIN MIDI and isolated USB are onboard.

Make Noise Resynthesizer Full Modular Synthesiser System
Cat: 1051659 Rel: 25 Nov 24

Full modular synthesiser with granular, subtractive and resynthesis capabilites
Notes: A complete system which really showcases Make Nose's experimental approach, the Resynthesizer features Make Noise classics like the Spectraphon and Morphagene and hands-on control via the PrssPnt, alll housed in a 4 Zone CV Bus Case.

Supplier's Notes:
The ReSynthesizer can trace its origins to Spring 2023, with Walker and Rodent putting together a collection of modules to announce and demonstrate the Soundhack Spectraphon at Superbooth '23. These modules would need to complement Spectraphon in a way that would show its true capabilities. As such, this specialized layout comprised a single-system overview of the last 8 years of Make Noise module designs.

After Superbooth, Walker and Peter continued to use a similar system configuration in videos for Make Noise's Youtube and Instagram Channels, prompting some folks to speculate if it was to be Make Noise's new 7U system. At that time there were no plans for a new system; in fact, this layout had been intended as temporary all along, but it was made a useful layout in almost all cases. (The layout even gained the popular unofficial moniker "System X" thanks to the speculative work of Cinematic Laboratory and others.) Choices like the unusual placement of the Morphagene, adjacent to Spectraphon, which was initially assumed would be mainly for a very specific use-case, quickly became second nature to patch. The Spectraphon and Morphagene work together to ReSynthesize raw materials into lush soundscapes, microsound manipulations, or wherever the path leads.

In early 2024, Make Noise announced DXG for the easy mixdown of mono or stereo signals, and PrssPnt to add physical touch interaction. With these pieces in place, the ReSynthesizer is born. Pairing the Spectraphon with the Morphagene and the core Make Noise CV generation suite, and housed in the powerful and portable 4 Zone CV Bus Case, the ReSynthesizer is an open design blackboard ready for experimentation and discovery.

Make Noise put this collection through its paces and have found it to hold up to any test thrown at it!

Buchla Music Easel (Retro) Modular Analogue Synthesiser
Cat: 956180 Rel: 27 Jun 24

The development of the legendary modular analogue synthesiser by Don Buchla.
Notes: Celebrating the 50th anniversary of this truly iconic synth, the 'modern' take on the classic Buchla Music Easel doesn't mess with a winning formula, paring the 208C sound source with 218e touch-sensitive keyboard.

Supplier's Notes:
The Buchla Music Easel was one of the first truly portable electronic music instruments. Fifty years ago, in 1973, only a few dozen were made. Unlike many iconic technologies, the influence was not grown through force of scale, but rather the force of the ideas. The Music Easel made available virtually every musical dimension: timbre, melody, rhythm, and time; how these dimensions intersected was no longer the court of acoustics and material, but signals and voltage. The 208 Stored Program Sound Source engendered "a new functional organization [with a] particularly rapid system of patching and program storage via plug-in cards."

Taking cues from the then-recent discipline of cybernetics, the 218 touch plate was for "real-time communication" to help realize the "potential vocabulary" of the Easel, rather than exploiting existing modes of musical virtuosity. The Stored Program Cards ensured rapid repeatability and repertoire on its own terms. The battery terminals made sure the music was as portable as any acoustic instrument. And the name let you know it was designed for art rather than science.

Buchla is ecstatic to revive the Music Easel for its third run in 50 years. Buchla first released the updated 208 Stored Program Sound Source, dubbed the Easel Command, with expanded MIDI and USB capability. Next came the update of the Easel Program Manager - a complete kit for storing and recalling sounds sources, even more rapidly than imagined in 1973. The new 218 Touch Activated Voltage Source provides the optimal input facility, as originally envisioned. It is now all together in a rugged case and the advanced EMBIO module that unifies all the audio and control inputs and outputs for integration with the rest of your musical world.

More than a retro novelty, the Music Easel still speaks to a future we strive for. A technology that invites conversation, not chats, and controls that engage expression, not work. There are many new worlds to explore in this instrument created at the crossroads of the jazz and computer ages. Designed as "an integrated assemblage of functions", rather than a collection of modules, the Music Easel's colour coding, comfortable access to controls, and solid patch connections allow for satisfying sessions of sonic discovery.

The Music Easel (retro) is available for pre-order starting in June 16 at Buchla.com and your favorite Buchla Dealer with delivery expected in winter 2023.

Stored Program Sound Source Model 208C

The sound source of the Music Easel is the 208C, which includes a complex oscillator and a modulation oscillator (which can also serve as another voice), each with independent switchable waveforms, as well as a noise generator, allowing for rich and intricate sound design. The 208C also features a five-stage sequencer, envelope generator, pulser and modulation source - with switchable triggers - allowing for complex patterns and evolving textures. The dual low pass gate provides dynamic control over the tone and amplitude of the sound, as well as natural-sounding decay and sustain. The 208C has a number of modulation sources, including a random voltage generator, the envelope generator, modulation oscillator, and an envelope detector. These sources can be used to modulate various parameters via the extensive patchfield - creating movement, texture, and complexity. The 208C also includes a mixer section with spring reverb.

Touch Activated Voltage Source Model 218e (v3)

The first design appeared in the 1973 release of the Buchla Music Easel and named for the spacecraft that delivered astronauts to the moon. Providing the familiar piano key layout for this early mobile music machine, the additional controls and capabilities were an interface for exploring uncharted musical territory. With the new version 3, it's been elevated with a new foundation of stable, modern electronics with incredible sensitivity and accuracy - the lightest touch will produce triggers and control voltages. The adjustable sensor has the dynamic range and durability to handle your playing. The new texture not only improves the sensing, but provides a satisfying tactile experience. As always, pressure is an expressive output, adding an extra dimension to the control. MIDI outputs velocity and polyphony, as well as channel pressure, making the 218e a uniquely expressive controller. The 218e includes portamento and an arpeggiator, which can be driven by external inputs and are allowed to interact with the automated notes to make patterns more complex. Additional controls allow you to blend different patterns and randomness to easily change from the expected to the surprising. The classic preset voltage knobs offer several possible ways to shift your sounds into new territory. Not only can the knobs be used for quick access to voltages for your patch, they can control arpeggiation modes and octave shifting. Pads output pulses for additional control. The 218e also gives you a unique interface to playing your existing MIDI gear and soft synths. Each touch outputs note name, channel pressure, and velocity for every note, along with sustain controls from a pedal. Polyphonic MIDI mode lets you play chords. The touchstrip can act as a pitch bend control, or as a mod wheel for additional expressive control. Easily configured using the front panel controls, you can send notes and controls on any MIDI channel.

Electric Music Box Input/Output (EMBIO)

Maintaining the spirit, sound, and process from the original, the new Music Easel adds a variety of new features. Buchla's latest renditions of the Stored Program Sound Source and Touch Activated Voltage Source are tied together with the Electric Music Box Input/Output (EMBIO) module. This of course provides MIDI out (mini jack and USB) and CV out from the 218, MIDI in to the 208, and the audio out from the 208C. Additional creative control comes from the Audio Mixer, for integration with other Buchla modules and systems, and the CV conditioners and controls. The slew control can turn your sequencer into a wavy modulator, or soften up a square LFO. The attenuator and crossfader gives you the opportunity to find new levels and combinations of voltages from existing ones. The pulse converter offers new rhythms to trigger. And a simple LFO provides another valuable modulator when you just can't quite let yourself flip that Mod Osc switch from "high" to "low."

Arturia PolyBrute 12 12-Voice Polyphonic Analogue Synthesiser
Cat: 1018553 Rel: 17 Sep 24

With a FullTouch keyboard, unrivalled sonic palette and advanced software companion - it offers more sonic possibilities than any other analogue synthesiser.
Notes: One of the best synths money can buy. Hugely expressive PolyBrute engine expands to 12 voices with the same beguiling combination of FullTouch keyboard, Morphee control and ribbon strip. Immense

Supplier's Notes:
Unleashing the full power of PolyBrute

Continuing the legacy of its predecessor as one of the most powerful and expressive analogue synths ever made, PolyBrute 12 goes a step further.

A multi-faceted tool for musical expression, PolyBrute 12 lets you seamlessly evolve and control any parameters while playing. The input-perfect sensitivity of the keyboard, the bi-timbral morphing presets, the multi-axis Morphee controller, the Ribbon controller - all work in perfect harmony so you can breathe vitality and intricate dynamics into your sound.

PolyBrute's in-the-moment sonic display would not be possible without the raw energy of its Brute oscillators and dual enhanced classic filters. This, combined with its intuitive interface, elegant modulation Matrix and advanced software companion make PolyBrute 12 a synth for the ages - a matrimony of Brute force and human touch.

Full touch, full control

Discover a next-generation keybed and new aftertouch modes that bring you into a direct and tactile connection with your sound.

PolyBrute's patented FullTouch keyboard provides the exact position of every key across the entire range of movement. This not only allows for precise and dynamic aftertouch expression but it also puts versatility at PolyBrute's core - allowing you to go from regular playing modes to exceptional aftertouch and envelope control at the touch of a button.

You can also use PolyBrute 12 to control any MPE-compatible VST. If you don't have a MPE compatible DAW, you can still record expressively using MIDI 1.0, although at a lower resolution.

Mono Aftertouch

In this mode, the note is triggered by regular keyboard velocity and the classic aftertouch area corresponds to an assignable aftertouch signal, where all the voices receive the same level and amount of expression. Great for applying a unified modulation effect to a chord or phrase.

Morph between sonic worlds

Seamlessly blend from one patch to another and find that perfect middle ground

Each preset is made up of two sonic states, A & B. A dedicated Morph knob lets you seamlessly explore a continuum of sound between them. This, combined with the Morphee controller and PolyBrute's keyboard, paves the way for endless patch evolution and expressivity.

Analogue heart, seismic sound

PolyBrute's sound begins with two analogue VCOs sharing much of the same sonic architecture that has made the Brute family renowned.

Each oscillator generates sawtooth, triangle and square waves simultaneously, and you can mix between them to shape just the right signal source and timbre.

Dial in VCO 1's Metalizer wavefolding to escalate from pure to punchy. Bring in VCO 2's sub-oscillator to add an extra lower octave and some added rumble.

Dial in edgy FM effects by modulating VCO 1's frequency with VCO 2, or subtly alter a continuous range of harmonics with soft or hard sync.

1 VCF 1 Steiner

A 2-pole 12db/octave Steiner filter design with continuous sweepable slope types, as seen across the Brute range. The addition of the proprietary Brute Factor feedback control lets you add anything from subtle warmth to a electrified growl.

2 VCF 1 Ladder

Inspired by Dr. Bob Moog's legendary 4-pole 24db/octave ladder design. A low-pass classic, with added gain compensation and asymmetrical distortion to add upfront grit to your polyphonic patches.

Modern modulation sources

Modulation has always been essential in animating synth sounds.

PolyBrute weaves a web of envelopes and LFOs that's intricate and unpredictable in equal measure - a dynamic display of sonic motion.

Three Envelope Generators

PolyBrute's VCF and VCA have velocity-sensitive ADSR envelopes hardwired outside the Matrix for instant gratification. The third Envelope Generator features a delay stage (DADSR) and can be assigned to sculpt any Matrix modulation targets. Use the various repeat and loop modes to add complex movement to your patches.

Use the various repeat and loop modes to add complex movement to your patches.

Three LFOs

PolyBrute's three syncable LFOs span an extremely wide range - facilitating anything from beautiful evolving soundscapes to clangorous audio-range modulation. Options for waveshaping, polarity and retriggering let you take your sound way outside the box. Experiment with Matrix routing and tempo/MIDI sync for hyper-rhythmic effects.

Enter the matrix

The flexibility of modular patching combined with digital precision and analogue richness makes for a transcendent polysynth experience.

32 target parameters, 64 connections in total. Rearrange PolyBrute's signal chain with the touch of a single button. Dial in positive or negative amounts, intuitively assign one or more destinations via any relevant controls, instantly route PolyBrute's array of performance controllers and advanced modulation sources to influence just about anything in the instrument's chain - all without a convoluted array of wires.

But the Matrix doesn't just take care of PolyBrute's all-encompassing modulation routing - it's the centrepiece of every aspect of its architecture. In Presets mode, use the Matrix to select any of the 768 patch memory locations. Morph mode accesses advanced morph state editing. Sequencer mode transforms the Matrix into an intuitive visual pattern editor.

Analogue Solutions Ample Analogue Patch Pin Matrix Synthesiser (B-STOCK)
Cat: 1093593 Rel: 01 Jan 90

B-STOCK: Item refurbished, repaired and in perfect working order.
Notes: ***B-STOCK: Item refurbished, repaired and in perfect working order.***

Like a greatest hits of recent Analogue Solutions synths, the Ample combines sound elements from the Fusebox with jack patch points, a patch pin matrix, plus sequencer and CV touch pads from the Generator, creating something new and unique.

Supplier's Notes:
Ample combines the best elements of several of Analogue Solutions' recent products.

The sound elements of Fusebox
Jack patch points of Concussor Eurorack
Patch pin matrix of Vostok
Echo from Dr Strangelove
Sequencer and CV touch pads of Generator

It shares all this yet still has its own sound!

Ample can be as complex or as simple as you want it to be

This synth has been given a large and diverse number of controls, that along side the patch sockets, will give even the best and experienced synthesist endless possibilities.

This synth presents the controls in a user friendly and familiar synth layout that, together with this manual and other resources, enable even the new guy to get great sounds.

Synth - Percussion - Audio Processor

Ample is a compact analogue synthesizer. Analogue - as in really analogue. Aside from the MIDI chip (which has to be digital), everything else is totally analogue using real transistors and op-amps. There are no CPU stabilised and quantised circuits, no DCOs, no digital LFOs and no digital EGs, as found on other so called analogue synths. The circuitry is based on designs dating back to the mid-1970s. So Ample has a genuine old sound.

Circuits included

3x Analogue Oscillators

There are three analogue VCOs - each providing a wealth of features and modulation choices. VCO3 can easily be utilised as a LFO.

2x Analogue Low Frequency Oscillator

LFO2(/Sync) has a triangle wave output. VCO3 can be used as an LFO and has Saw, Triangle and Square wave modulation signals.

Analogue Filter

Ample uses a four pole 24bB per octave low pass filter.

Analogue Amplifier

The VCA can be set to THRU so it is always 'open'. This allows Ample to be used as an effects processor.

2x Analogue Envelopes

There are two EGs - each having full control over ATTACK, DECAY, SUSTAIN, and RELEASE.

Modulation

Great thought has been placed into modulation route choices, allowing a wide range of sounds to be produced, including percussion and 'modular' sounds further extended by patching with the jack sockets and pin matrix.

MIDI

MIDI is intentionally kept simple - so you can concentrate on making new sounds and making music - not getting tied up with SYSEX programming.

You get the all important control over filter cut-off using MIDI Velocity.

Patchable External CV Control Sockets

Ample has many input and output audio and CV sockets - to allow the synth to be effectively re-wired to make new sounds.

The sockets also enable it to be easily used with Eurorack and other modular systems. They can be patched together.

Sequencer

Ample has a vintage style 16 step sequencer.

Touch Keys

There are 6 touch keys that each output a set voltage. Use this to play the pitch or as modulation signals. A great tool for inspiration!

Pin Matrix

A neat way to patch the synth.

Echo

Nice lo-fi echo / delay.

TOUCH SENSITIVE CONTROLLER settings

Behaviour:
- single: 12 key mode
- twin*: 2x6 key mode, the parameters are the same for both sides
- split*: 2x6 key mode, but with separate parameters for both sides (e. g.: you can have an arpeggiator on one side, but a basic keyboard controller on the other side)
* in twin and split modes the pressure output acts as the note CV output, therefore pressure parameters (output, rise and fall) have no effect

Arpeggiator state:
- off: the module acts as a keyboard controller
- on: enables arpeggiator

Arpeggiator hold:
- off: the arpeggiator will play only while the keys are held
- on: the arpeggiator will continue to play the last progression after the keys are released

Arpeggiator clock:
- sets the clock multiplication/division ratio for the arpeggiator

Arpeggiator direction:
- forward
- backward
- ping-pong
- random

Arpeggiator variation: when enabled the arpeggiated progression will be played again transposed by the selected interval.
- OFF
- x1
- x2
- x3
Arpeggiator variation interval: 1 - 12 semitones

Arpeggiator rhythm: an eight step trigger sequencer placed between the arpeggiators virtual clock input and clock source, applies a rhythmic pattern to the arpeggio. - turn steps on/off

Arpeggiator rhythm length: sets the length of the rhythm sequencer. 1 - 8 steps

Portamento: creates slew limiting effect on the CV output, sets the speed of gliding (ie: how much time it takes to transition from one pitch to the next). 0 - 255

Legato:
- off: portamento is always on
- on: gliding happens only when two or more note plates are touched simultaneously (this parameter has no effect when arpeggiator is enabled)

Vibrato speed: sets the speed of the LFO that's modulating the note CV output. 0 - 127

Vibrato depth: sets the modulation amount. 0 - 127

Vibrato delay: specifies a time delay before vibrato begins to apply until it reaches the full strength specified by the depth parameter. 0 - 127

Vibrato pressure control: when enabled, the modulation amount is altered by the pressure applied to keys.
- off
- on

Pressure output:
- pressure: voltage on the pressure output will continuously follow the pressure applied to key plates
- ASR: attack/sustain/release envelope generator
- AD: attack/decay envelope generator

Pittsburgh Modular Voltage Lab 2 Standalone Dual Oscillator Semi-Modular Analogue Synthesiser
Cat: 1018251 Rel: 09 Aug 24

Innovative modern analogue synthesis laboratory with integrated touch controller
Notes: Typically creative stuff from Pittsburgh Modular, the updated Voltage Lab is the pinnacle of the brand's synth output. Dual oscillator design with a 16-note touch controller, built-in sequencer and MIDI control.

Supplier's Notes:
The Pittsburgh Modular Voltage Lab 2 is a cutting edge synthesis laboratory that offers a new palette of analogue textures and waveforms to sonic researchers. Newly developed wave shaping capabilities paired with powerful synthesis tools, and a deep, performance oriented controller join together to create a complete sound design laboratory. This instrument has a very physical sound. The tones it creates feel natural and alive, with traditional waveforms becoming the seeds of unique new shapes and sounds that shift between analogue physical modeling and more unfamiliar, abstract timbres.

Laboratory Oscillator 1

Voltage Lab 2 includes a pair of Laboratory Oscillators. Each with a unique set of newly invented waveshaping tools designed to expand the sonic potential of analogue synthesis. Laboratory Oscillator 1 introduces Center Clipping to analogue synthesis. Center clipping unlocks independent control over the top and bottom of the waveform, allowing for detailed manipulation of harmonics and timbre without affecting pitch. It does this by processing waveforms from the center out as opposed to traditional methods which work from the peaks inwards.

Laboratory Oscillator 2

Laboratory Oscillator 2 introduces a host of new sonic possibilities with two new waveshapers. Pulse Symmetry and Reflection. Pulse Symmetry creates a new species of pulse wave that adds a step between the top and bottom of the waveform. The resulting wave looks like a set of stairs where the depth of the center step can be adjusted in addition to the pulse width. Wave Reflection takes the bottom half of the waveform and reflects it onto the top half. Each waveshape responds to this differently. For example, a saw wave morphs into a triangle while triangle and sine waves lose their fundamental harmonic and jump up an octave.

Pittsburgh Dynamics Controllers

The new Dynamics technology imparts Voltage Lab 2 with a uniquely organic depth and presence. By simultaneously managing both amplitude and harmonic content, the Pittsburgh Dynamics Controller expands beyond the one dimensional VCA found in other synthesizers. It does this by utilizing new advancements from traditional low pass gates to add additional definition and dimension to the voices of the Voltage Lab 2.

When used in low pass gate mode, sounds shed harmonic content and become warmer as they decrease in volume. This mimics how sound waves react to their environment. Because of this connection, the Voltage Lab 2 sounds more natural or complex compared to other instruments.

Touch Controller 2

The Touch Controller 2 enables artists to blend traditional pitched performances with the freedom to openly experiment, creating a flexible playground for music creation. Two independent channels offer a combination of real time, expressive playing and in-depth sequencing. Assignable scales, step conditions, jumps, chance effects, generative sequencing, and a host of other tools, come together allowing musicians to both create and interact with complex systems.

A Florist and Echos

The Voltage Lab 2 includes a set of analogue time based effects, Florist and Echos. The Florist is a flanger/chorus hybrid that focuses on brighter, short time shifts with highly controlled feedback allowing for maximum ringing before self oscillation. Echos is a more traditional, darker analogue BBD delay that also utilizes highly controlled feedback to provide a larger number of repeats before falling into self oscillation. Both effects are perfect for traditional workflows and unconventional experimentation.

Complete Set of Modular Tools

The Voltage Lab 2 includes a host of fully modular, analogue and digital synthesis tools to support and enhance it's core functionality. Analog tools include flexible mixers, a pair of complex function generators, noise, sample and hold, and an LFO. Digital tools cover external MIDI, arpeggiator, and a robust chance sequencer. The Voltage Lab 2 toolset is deep enough for all types of sonic experiments.

Future Retro Vectra 29-Keys Hybrid Synthesiser (B-STOCK)
Cat: 1090104 Rel: 01 Jan 90

B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order
Notes: ***B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order***

Future Retro's unique modern take on vector synthesis takes full advantage of an impressive hybrid synth engine. Digital oscillators, ring modulation and complex envelopes meet a multi-mode analogue filter with paraphonic capabilities. Quirky and flexible.

Supplier's Notes:
The Vectra is a unique hybrid synthesizer with a flexible architecture that allows many different forms of synthesis to be realized. It's the best of both worlds... The Vectra utilizes digital oscillators, ring modulators, noise sources, vector mixer, LFO's, complex envelopes, and modulation routings providing many capabilities that would be very difficult to produce with analogue circuitry alone. This allows for accurate tuning, repeatability of complex patches, and patch storage. The Vectra also provides a multi-mode analogue filter, VCA, and final output, as these provide the best sonic qualities.

The Vectra includes a powerful and fun sequencer and arpeggiator, with many new capabilities. Although the Vectra is a self contained instrument, MIDI can be used to interface with other devices.

The Vectra provides four oscillators, white and pink noise sources, four ring modulators, a four-channel mixer, five LFO's, six morphing envelopes, six primary multimode analogue filter types, a main analogue VCA, and numerous internal modulation routings and VCA's controlling modulation amounts.

It really is like having a powerful self-contained semi-modular synthesizer with approximately 500 internal signal routings, and around 256 storable sound parameters.

The synthesizer architecture is designed to allow the greatest flexibility in recreating multiple synthesis techniques of the past while introducing several new innovations. The sound section has been inspired by features of the greatest synthesizers ever made, while not focusing specifically on recreating any instrument in particular. The Vectra is in fact it's own unique self-contained instrument.

The oscillators are digital as this provides the highest degree of tuning stability, while allowing both virtual analogue and digital waveform generations. With features like oscillator Sync, PWM, the new waveform Phase Slice, and Fade features, independent glide times per oscillator, constant beat detuning, and paraphonic voice modes, not to mention FM, AM, ring-modulation, and dedicated LFO's, envelopes, and VCA's per oscillator really make these oscillators a power house.

The four-channel mixer is unique in that it provides an even balance when mixing multiple sources, either manually with the joystick, or applying automated vector mixing, or mixer modulation.

Teenage Engineering OP-1 Field Portable Synthesiser (B-STOCK)
Cat: 1088682 Rel: 01 Jan 90

B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order
Notes: ***B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order***

Updated version of the ground-breaking synth, sampler and sequencer. Better than ever, with legendary sound quality and portability.

Supplier's Notes:
The beauty of evolution.

Louder, thinner and 100 times better.

Introducing the all new OP-1 field. Injected with more than a decade of ideas, refinements and improvements. Just to mention a few: stereo throughout the whole signal chain, Bluetooth MIDI, USB type-C, a new speaker system with a passive driver for detailed, fat and loud sound, a massive 24 hour battery life, multiple tapes and recording formats, new great sounding reverb and the 'dimension' synth engine, an all glass, flush, high resolution display. The graphics have also been meticulously reworked, screen by screen.

Reworked, refined, reborn.

Think of OP-1 field as the natural continuation of its predecessor. Updated with the latest technology, improved design and finely tuned with professional musicians, recording artists and sound designers in mind. Higher quality in all aspects, from its circuitry to connectivity and flexibility, it's tailor made for professionals in the field.

The new stereo sample engine is just one of the features that takes the OP-1 field to a higher level. With increased sampling time up to 20 seconds and dual layer mode for instant mixing of the a and b channels or via an assigned LFO.

Four new recording formats: Studio 4-track, vintage 4-track, porta and disc mini.
All with their own unique characteristics and graphics. Now with multiple tapes or discs, up to 8 in total.

If it feels thinner, it is.

By lowering the aluminium body around the keyboard, the new OP-1 field feels lighter, thinner and more precise. with 2k moulding Teenage Engineering have also managed to fit a dual 2.4 GHz antenna system inside the aluminium body.

The back is warm, velcro and bass.

Two soft velcro rings have been added on the back for fastening covers and accessories. Perhaps you want to stick your op-1 field on top of your full size keyboard, or slap it on a guitar? Use the included adhesive looped back and start experimenting. On the right you'll find an additional passive loudspeaker for hugely improved bass. And for a 'no-more-cold-metal-on-your-lap' experience, the aluminium body has been folded in a warm, soft touch, hard cover.

The first accessory out using the velcro rings is the Bill Amberg leather wrap that attaches to the back and wraps around the op-1 field and locks around the encoders.

Dimensions: 28.8 cm x 10.2 cm x 2.9 cm

Motas Electronics Motas-6 Paraphonic Vector-Morphing Synthesiser (stainless steel)
Cat: 1061960 Rel: 02 Apr 25

Paraphonic vector-morphing synthesizer with fully analogue signal path, powerful digital control and a super-flexible independent modulation architecture.
Notes: A nice middle ground between old-school analogue and modern convenience here. The Motas-6 features a fully analogue six-voice paraphonic signal path, all controlled by digital elements for preset storage, modulation and sequencing.

Supplier's Notes:
Motas-6 is a very powerful and flexible analogue paraphonic synth with digital control. It has three voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) including hard-sync options, analogue phase-modulation and a sub-oscillator. Each VCO has several waveforms that can be freely mixed and modulated and each VCO can be assigned to track notes in various ways for paraphonic playing. The mixer takes the signals from the 3 oscillators, noise source and external input and outputs to the filters. The mixer output will distort (intentionally) with the highest input levels and there is a boost mode for even greater distortion. An analogue noise source with selectable white/pink response has its own control for input level into the mixer.

Motas-6 has a unique 'vector morphing' feature allowing you to morph between 4 patches of your choice in real-time using external MIDI controllers or CV inputs. There are 5 instant-access patches available at any time (in RAM memory). In vector morphing mode dual external controllers allow the active patch to morph in 2-dimensions between the first 4 presets. On exit from this mode the resulting patch settings are stored to the 5th preset automatically.

There are has masses of modulation options. Each and every rotary knob parameter has independent modulation settings from key, velocity, 4 modulation sources (from MIDI and CV/gate inputs) as well as from its own EG (Envelope Generator) and LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) - a total of 33 independent EGs and LFOs! There are also 4 global EGs and 4 global LFOs with individual amount settings for each parameter.

Motas-6 has very powerful filtering capabilities. There is a 6-pole voltage-controlled low-pass filter (VCF) with adjustable resonance to self-oscillation (with selectable 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6-pole outputs), a 2-pole high-pass voltage-controlled filter and a second 4-pole resonant low-pass VCF (similar in design to that of a certain silver box from the '80s). The inputs and outputs of the filters can be connected together in various ways to give a huge range of filtering possibilities.

It has a built-in pattern sequencer. 1-bar patterns of notes and parameter change data can be stored and chained to together into a 2 track sequence. In the sequence each pattern can be transposed, repeated and delayed. 15 patterns are active at any one time (56 patterns can be saved to non-volatile memory arranged in 7 banks of 8 patterns). 16 sequences can be saved (2 banks of 8 sequences). Not only does the saved sequence contain all 15 RAM patterns, also the 5 complete RAM patches are also saved ensuring that every detail of the sequence is captured. It also has a built-in arpeggiator that can be synced to internal or external clock (MIDI or CV/gate). Options including hold-modes, direction, note-range, swing, pattern, note-length and delay. The settings are stored with the patch.

The output voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA) stage has a choice of analogue clipping/distortion options: dry, soft clip, hard clip, soft clip + hard clip, dry + soft clip + hard clip. External audio can be routed into the mixer with its own level control. However, when nothing is plugged into the external audio input socket an audio feedback loop from after the final VCA is fed into the mixer instead. Audio monitoring options include real-time oscilloscope, spectrum analyser, volume level and MIDI input monitor displayed on the fast and bright OLED display.

Nord Lead A1 Analogue Modeling Synthesiser
Nord Lead A1 Analogue Modeling Synthesiser (hybrid keyboard synthesiser)
Cat: 1091534 Rel: 30 May 25

A 4-part multitimbral synth with a classic layout, extensive filter options and effects.
Notes: The Nord Lead A1 is a 4-part multitimbral synth with a classic layout, extensive filter options and effects. With its powerful panel interface and pre-programmed modulation matrix, creating unique and exciting sounds is very inspirational and quick.

At the heart of the Lead A1 is our new analog modeling engine. Taking our virtual analog synthesis to the next level, this modeling recreates a total analog signal path with uncanny realism, and is capable of immense sonic variety. With 26-voice polyphony and four simultaneous synthesizer parts, the Lead A1 is a true synthesizer powerhouse that goes far beyond the current trend for limited capability analog reissues.

Fundamental to the design of the Lead A1 is a brand new simple yet sophisticated front panel interface. The design is in fact the result of requests from professional players - even the most experienced programmers - who need to create the perfect sound as quickly as possible for today's live or studio time demands. The Lead A1 allows easy patch creation and experimentation thanks to a new and unique oscillator section, pre-programmed modulation matrix, and simplified ADR envelopes. Dive in and create incredible patches far quicker than would normally be possible with a synthesizer of such power.

The Lead A1's new Oscillator section generates 47 different waveforms from classic analog to digital harmonic and inharmonic waves, whilst unique Oscillator Configuration Shortcuts make programming more immediate than ever. Start with a single Oscillator waveform select an Oscillator Configuration Shortcut - Pitch, Detune, Shape, Sync, Sub Mix, FM, AM or Noise - and use the Adjust knob to adjust the settings of the configuration. The end result is high speed programming without the need for the usual complexity of routing and patching, and with the opportunity for ready experimentation. A fast track to stunning sound design for both advanced and less experienced programmers.

The Lead A1's filter section features classic 12 and 24 dB Low Pass, a High Pass and a Band Pass filter, together with stunning emulations of the diode and ladder filters from the legendary Mini and the TB-303 synthesizers as used in the Lead 4. The Lead A1's modeling of these filters capture the true character and response of the originals, allowing supremely flexible and precise sound design. The filters are super-smooth with a warm analog character.

The Lead A1's effects section features two stunning brand new analog models of an Ensemble and Chorus, modeled on specific vintage synths and adding classic warmth and analog feel. Alongside these, choose from great-sounding Ring Modulation, Phaser, Flanger, or Drive per slot, and in addition a separate Delay and Reverb for each slot.

A classic Nord feature, the Morph function via Mod Wheel, Velocity or pedal, allows you to control multiple parameters of the Lead A1 simultaneously. Morph is exceptionally easy to set-up and use - just hold the Morph button and adjust any desired knob.

The Lead A1 features four separate Arpeggiators with Up/Down and Random modes and a 4-octave range. Any or all can be sync'd to the Lead A1's master clock.

The Master Clock function of the Lead A1 allows the LFO, Arpeggiator and Delay to be synchronized, either internally or slaved to external MIDI clock. A Tap Tempo button allows you to easily tap to the tempo of a drummer or to playback tracks.

Having four identical, equally powerful synthesizers at once opens breathtaking layering possibilities. The Split-mode gives you two 2 slots on each side of the split. A flexible Hold functionality lets you latch and hold slots independently in the background while playing something else on top.

New in the Lead A1 is the Multi-Focus Mode that allows editing and control of all four slots simultaneously. Save this mode as part of a Performance and you have live realtime control over all four slots of the Lead A1.

The Lead A1 features four independent audio outputs with the ability to route each slot to a different output. Plus control of Pan via the front panel knob is a welcome new addition in the Lead A1.

Unique to the Nord Lead A1 is the new 'Like' function, a simple and brilliant practical feature to use during patch creation. When programming a patch it's often not clear if it's yet perfect. Now with the Lead A1 you can simply 'Like' what you've done into a temporary location and continue editing. You can Like up to 50 variations, with the ability to scroll between them to compare your favourites or go back to a specific Liked version to edit in a different way. When you're ready, save your favourite patch or patches to the Lead A1's memory.

A popular feature of the Lead 4, the Mutator function allows variations of a patch to be created by adjusting one, some, or all elements of a patch by set percentages. There's also a wild Randomize mode to create an entirely new patch with all parameters randomized.

A newly designed "Fat-As-Fat-Can-Be" Unison Mode let's the Lead A1 challenge any vintage analog instrument.

BLL Instruments Elyra 16-Voice Virtual Analogue & FM Synthesiser
Cat: 1007744 Rel: 02 Dec 24

16-voice virtual analogue & FM synthesiser
Notes: It starts with a dream

We are all fans of synthesizers, their vintage sound, classic and modern at the same time, their ability to mix several timbres. We love the musical journey that transports us while listening to each new presets.

We also like guitar and bass. Standing or sitting, in your studio or on stage, playing on guitar or bass is this tremendous energy, this way in which the intensity of the playing is in total connection with the music you want to create. A sweet ballad, a melodious arpeggio, a hell of a bass line, a stratospheric lead, an awesome riff.

What if we could express all that but with a great synth sound?

The dream came true, and even more!

A modern synth played like a guitar or a bass

Elyra is played with the typical gestures of playing guitar and bass and all the energy that comes from it. You play with your whole body.

There are two strumming aera for strings, one dedicated to back and forth and another dedicated to bass and arpeggios.

Elyra is designed to be played by both right-handed and left-handed people.

You can also play it placed on a table or on your knees like a groove box.

A powerful and unique composition tool

With up to 16 voices polyphony, spread across 16 instruments/layers and with is powerful sequencer, Elyra is more than a groovebox, it is a composition tool.
You can have one instrument with 16 voices or 16 instruments with one voice and everything in between.

Because Elyra is battery powered, you can carry it anywhere with you and play for several hours.

You can play and sequence all your other instruments via MIDI port.

A sound engine is made for this instrument by Kodamo.

At the core of Elyra there is a powerful and beautiful sound engine created for by Kodamo.

It is a virtual analogue engine based on subtractive synthesis with just enough FM synthesis to offer a vast sound territory.

It has many parameters to sculpt and create a unique sound.

Electronics and wood

Elyra is made of electronics and wood.

The electronic parts are designed in France and comply with environmental standards and in particular RoHS.

The body of the instrument is made of wood. It is cut and assembled in France. The wood is only chosen from sustainable or recycled sources.

Elyra is built to last.

Raised touch buttons

All Elyra buttons are touch sensitive pads made up of a slightly raised area allowing the user to feel physical feedback.

This is capacitive sensor technology which offers an extremely fast response time of 2 ms.

There are 5 distinct areas on the main panel:

the fretboard composed of 4 * 12 pads
the strumming area separated into two types, A and B
two assignable sliders
an OLED screen with its wheel and its 8 contextual buttons

Guitar/bass mode

At first you need a double trig to play a note in Guitar or Bass mode: the hand on the fretboard selects the note to be played, and the other hand uses one of the two strumming areas.

Each one of the four strings has its own two strumming areas.

The strumming area A, is made of a long and very thin relief pad. It is ideal for playing back and forth on one or more strings.

The strumming area B, is a double pad surrounded by holes in the main layer, it allows both bass type playing and is ideal for playing arpeggios.

Elyra retains the essential subtleties of guitar playing, when a note has just been played you can also, like in guitar, slide to another note, or do a Pull-off or a Hammer-on without using the strumming area again.

You can use the slider with your thumb to bend the notes.

Elyra can be tuned according to your needs. there are basic tunings, like the first 4 strings of a guitar E, A, D, G, or any open tuning, or like a Ukulele.

You choose the root notes of each string, and the choice is specific to each track in one project.

A sonic evolution

Wavestate SE is the powerful evolution of Korg's legendary Wavestation, taking Wave Sequencing to a new level. Designed in California and built in Japan, Wavestate SE includes a premium 61-note keyboard with aftertouch, in an all-metal chassis. Built for a new era of musicians, composers, and producers, Wavestate SE features hundreds of dynamic sounds, extensive hands-on control and 120 notes (stereo) of polyphony to inspire new levels of creativity.

Premium, expressive touch

Featuring a 61-key natural-touch keyboard, Wavestate SE feels incredible to play. The inclusion of aftertouch gives fingertip control of the unique constantly changing sound. All factory presets have been meticulously programmed to take full advantage of this expressive control.

Beauty meets brawn

Wavestate SE's all-metal design is as hard-wearing as it is beautiful - with a matte-black aluminium panel complimented perfectly by glossblack stainless-steel sides. The premium finish continues to the controls themselves, where metal-plated knobs are perfectly weighted and add a luxurious touch.

Easily expressive. Exceptionally deep.

The Wavestate SE puts filters, envelopes, LFOs, effects and more at your fingertips with dedicated front-panel controls. Eight programmable Mod knobs are customised to bring out the most in every sound, for real-time performance and also when saving results as new patches. Pitch bend and modulation wheels, and the unique Vector Joystick, give you instant access to multiple dimensions of real-time expression. Digging deeper, almost all front-panel knobs, and most on-screen parameters, can be modulated. You can even modulate settings for individual Wave Sequence steps! Mod Processors let you transform modulation signals using quantization, smoothing, curvature, and more.

Gigabytes of samples

Totalling in the gigabytes, Wavestate SE's sample library is vast. At a thousand times larger than that of the original Wavestation, the amount of great-sounding raw material for Wave Sequences is astounding.

Three of the key sound designers from the original Wavestation, John Bowen, John "Skippy" Lehmkuhl (Plugin Guru), and Peter "Ski" Schwartz, joined Belgian artist Airwave and the renowned Korg voicing team to create the incredible Wavestate SE sound library.

Powerful effects

An arsenal of superb effects ensures Wavestate SE delivers production-ready sounds. Each performance has a master reverb and parametric EQ while each layer has three dedicated effects. Alongside compressors, EQs, choruses, flangers, phasers, and stereo delays, you'll find distinctive processors such as the Wave Shaper, Talking Modulator, Reverse Delay, Multiband Mod Delay, and Overb, plus modelled effects including Vox guitar amps and wah pedal, multi-head tape echo, and a collection of other classic guitar pedals.

Multiply by four

Take all that power, and quadruple it! You can layer up to four Programs together in a Performance-each with their own effects and arpeggiator. The Vector Envelope and Joystick mix the individual voices of the four layers, and can also modulate any other parameters. This sheer sonic power is further enhanced with 120 notes (stereo) of polyphony. Set Lists offer effortless organisation of your Performances, and deliver instant access at the gig or in rehearsal. And thanks to Smooth Sound Transitions, previously-played voices and effects continue to ring out naturally, even when a new sound has been selected.

Deep connectivity

Connect to recording or monitoring systems with balanced stereo outputs, and a stereo headphone output is provided for private playing or onstage cueing. Din-style MIDI jacks ensure connection to other MIDI-equipped instruments and audio gear. The original Wavestation gave each step of a wave sequence a duration, a sample and a pitch. This created ear-catching repetitive patterns, giving rise to entirely new approaches to sound design. But what if the sounds could evolve in organic and unexpected ways, instead of just repeating? Wave Sequencing 2.0 separates the timing, the sequence of samples, and the melody, so that each can be manipulated independently. It also adds new characteristics, including shapes, gate times, and step sequencer values. Each of these is a "Lane", and each Lane can have a different number of steps, start, end and loop points. Every time the sequence moves forward, the individual Lanes combine to create the output. For instance, a sample may be matched with a different duration, pitch, shape, gate length, and step sequence value every time that it plays. You can modulate each Lane's start, end, and loop points separately for every note, using velocity, LFOs, envelopes, Mod Knobs, or other controllers. Each note in a chord can be playing something different! Lanes can also randomise the step order every time they play, with real-time control over the range of included steps, and individual steps can be randomly skipped (with a modulatable probability from 0 to 100%). The result is organic, ever-changing sounds that respond to your control. The four onboard arpeggiators can interact with Wave Sequences for even more possibilities.

Cat: 1066370 Rel: 22 May 25

A compact tribute to the iconic miniKORG 700, the very origin of Korg's analogue synth history, enhanced to meet the needs of today's musicians
Notes: A contemporary reboot of the 1970s miniKORG 700, the 700Sm introduces a second oscillator, MIDI, arpeggiator and spring reverb. All the features of 2021's limited-edition 700FS reboot in a more compact, portable package.

Supplier's Notes:
The miniKORG 700Sm is a compact tribute to the iconic miniKORG 700, the very origin of Korg's analogue synth history, enhanced to meet the needs of today's musicians. Featuring two oscillators for thick, detuned sounds, the miniKORG 700Sm sees the return of the signature Traveler controller, allowing for expressive filter adjustments. With advancements like aftertouch, spring reverb, an arpeggiator, and a range of connectivity options including USB and MIDI, this synth is both a powerful standalone instrument and an excellent companion to stage keyboards. Complete with a custom soft case and a free software bundle, the miniKORG 700Sm brings vintage analogue sound into the present day.

Released in 2021, the miniKORG 700FS was a spectacular recreation of the legendary 1970s miniKORG 700S analogue synthesizer, enhanced with additional functionality that wasn't possible in the original. The miniKORG 700FS was so popular that its limited production run sold out quickly, with significant demand for increased production. Korg has a long history of groundbreaking analogue synthesizers. The miniKORG 700Sm is a tribute to the miniKORG 700, the very origin of Korg's analogue synth history, while being enhanced to meet the needs of today's musicians.

Downsizing the miniKORG 700FS

The miniKORG 700Sm retains all the features of the miniKORG 700FS in an instrument approximately 86% the size of the original. Additionally, the miniKORG 700Sm weighs just 5.8 kg (12.8 lbs), making it easy to transport.

The elements vital to an analogue synth

The character and richness of the sounds produced by the miniKORG 700 could not be realized through analogue modelling. Although it's possible to replicate a circuit by using the same parts and copying the design schematics or circuit board, there's no guarantee that this will reproduce the original sound. This is because the components age over time, dramatically altering the sound. To accurately recreate the original sound, Korg had to rely on the experience and skill of the technicians who worked on the original product.

Korg were able to bring the original sound to life thanks to their team of technicians, who have gained invaluable expertise over the years through their work on numerous synthesizer revival projects. This team was guided by the legendary Fumio Mieda, a Korg engineer since the early 1970s and one of the designers of the original miniKORG 700S. Working closely with Korg's sound designers, they meticulously reproduced the original sound as faithfully as possible. Those who play the miniKORG 700Sm will experience it as a beautifully crafted and authentic recreation of the original.

Beautiful synth leads, thick bass - and more

The miniKORG 700 was Korg's first synthesizer, and produced some of the most recognizable, rich and fattest analogue sounds of the time. The new miniKORG 700Sm features oscillators with an unmistakeable tone and an authentic recreation of the Traveler controller- a signature element of the miniKORG 700- designed to add extraordinary colour and expression to performances. Its sound fits seamlessly in today's music, especially with its standout lead and bass synth tones.

Secondary keyboard possibilities

The miniKORG 700 was originally designed as a secondary keyboard, often placed on top of an organ to expand their sound palette. The miniKORG 700Sm, with its compact and portable form factor, stands out as a powerful solo instrument but also complements stage keyboards like electric pianos and organs perfectly.

The controls on the miniKORG 700 were laid out below its keys in a row, allowing players to easily access them when it was placed on top of another instrument. This intuitive layout remains unchanged, offering simplicity, ease of use, and a unique look that sets it apart from any other instrument.

Expanded functionality When the miniKORG 700 was originally released, electronic components were larger in size, limiting functionality due to the small space inside. Thanks to advancements in technology, there is now room to include a spring reverb as well as a joystick for pitch bend and modulation. The new version also features aftertouch for added expressiveness, as well as an arpeggiator, USB port, MIDI IN connector and a CV/GATE IN jack. Korg have also added memory programs to store settings, something that wasn't available in the early 1970s.

Traveler controller

A unique feature of the miniKORG 700, the Traveler controller, consisted of two parallel sliders located below the keyboard. With these controls, players could adjust the cutoff frequency, with the upper lever controlling the low-pass filter and the lower lever controlling the high-pass filter. This gave players the freedom to adjust the expressive character of the sound according to the position of the levers. By moving the levers to the left and right while playing the keys, wah-wah and muted sounds could be created along with the iconic "traveling" sound.

Since the sound passing through the filter has a lower cutoff frequency and higher cutoff frequency than the frequencies set by the sliders, all frequencies are filtered and thus no sound is heard when the positions of the two sliders are inverted. In other words, making the two sliders cross would in theory produce no sound. To address this, the original miniKORG 700 featured protrusions on the sliders to physically prevent them from crossing.

The design was both a benefit and limitation of analogue circuitry. In the past- and even today- it's impossible to design a filter with perfect characteristics. During the time that the miniKORG 700 was sold, some players would shave off the protrusions on the sliders to allow them to cross, in an attempt to create new sounds. In fact, some models sold internationally did not even have the protrusions to begin with. The miniKORG 700Sm also does not have the protrusions, opening endless sound design possibilities and allowing players to create patches in unique ways.

A second oscillator The miniKORG 700 was a single-oscillator mono synth. One year later 1974, the miniKORG 700S was released with more space added to the left of the keyboard for a controller. This version also introduced a second oscillator, a ring modulator, and other enhancements. The new Sm model is a revival of the 700S, with its expanded functionality, including two oscillators that deliver powerful detuning and thick, penetrating sounds, particularly for bass and lead sounds.

Includes a made-to-fit soft case

The miniKORG 700Sm comes with a custom-made soft case designed to perfectly fit the instrument, ensuring both protection and portability. This case makes it easy to take your miniKORG 700Sm wherever you go, whether you're performing, recording, or traveling, keeping your synth safe and secure.

Free music software bundle

The miniKORG 700Sm comes with a diverse variety of music software including Izotope (featuring "Ozone Elements" which lets you not only create songs but also master them using AI), "Skoove" which will help you improve your keyboard playing skills, "miniKORG 700S" from the Korg Collection software, as well as a wide range of software synths from Korg and other developers.

Supercritical Redshift 6 6-Voice Analogue Variable Character Synthesiser
Cat: 992873 Rel: 13 Dec 24

Six-voice analogue variable character desktop synthesiser
Notes: Building on Supercritical's back catalogue, the Redshift provides a range of characters, based around the Demon Core Oscillator and Neutron Flux Filter. Six-voice analogue design with multitimbral options, MPE control and DSP effects.

Supplier's Notes:
Supercritical Synthesizers introduces their first desktop instrument, Redshift 6 - six voice analogue Variable Character Synthesizer

Supermassively dense analogue oscillator combined with a chameleon analogue filter with versatile gain staging. Now sixfold.

Redshift 6 combines technology from the company's previous products, the Demon Core Oscillator and the Neutron Flux Filter. Each of the six voices features a DCO with analogue waveforms generated under digital control. The filter core is an analogue 4-pole state variable filter also digitally controlled to act like almost any classic vintage synthesizer filter and more. In addition to the oscillators and filters, Redshift 6 has all the features expected of a modern synth - plenty of modulators, flexible voice routing, multitimbrality, MPE, and DSP effects.

Redshift 6's idea is something that is wrapped in the moniker "Variable Character Synthesizer". Each voice's analogue path regarding tuning, gain staging, filter, and more is under strict digital control. Redshift 6 has as lush and warm sweet spot inspired by the analogue polysynth tradition, but it can also cover the full range from almost digitally sterile and clean to distorted misbehaviour and beyond. No modelling here - it's all analogue until the bypassable stereo DSP effects processor.

The oscillator, already road-tested in the Demon Core Oscillator eurorack module, is featured in each of the six voices. The oscillator has multiple tricks up its sleeve, each one wrapped as an Engine for the user to choose between. Traditional twin oscillator engines, supersaw engines, flanging phase sync engines, and transistor organ engines are all powerful modes in user-friendly ways that are easily controllable and modulatable.

Redshift 6's six voices can be configured in plenty of ways. Choose between true six-voice polyphony, classic vintage poly dual layer mode with 3+3 voices, six individual voices each with their own patch and physical output, or any combination of the above. Each of the six voices can also operate as a paraphonic voice with up to 16 note paraphony. Additionally, multiple filters can be chained by routing audio from one voice to another.

The form factor of Redshift 6 is a modern, compact desktop device with a 2.7-inch colour screen. Menu diving is reduced to a minimum, with quick navigation via the shortcut button grid. A selection of familiar synth controls are featured on the front panel. A macro mode is included with six user-assignable controls. The back panel features main audio outputs with a DSP effects processor and four auxiliary voice outputs.

One of the major design principles of Redshift 6 is to have a versatile and capable analogue platform and a flexible UI for new Engines, easily updateable via software updates.

B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order
Notes: ***B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order***

An evolution of the monophonic Typhon synth concept, the Artemis applies similar interface design to a six-voice analogue synth module with Sinevibes digital effects. Lots of power and typically classy Dreadbox sound.

Supplier's Notes:
Artemis is a unique analogue polysynth with a UI inspired by Dreadbox's award-winning Typhon synthesizer. It builds on Typhon's innovative concepts, adding six voices of polyphony, powerful modulation capabilities, stereo FX, voice spreading, and much more!

From classic polysynth tones to aggressive modern sounds and everything in between, Artemis has a wealth of raw synthesis and modulation capabilities to explore.

At its core, Artemis features a fully analogue architecture, based on the smart oscillator implementation found in both the Typhon and the Murmux Adept, allowing effortless transitions between multiple waveforms, mix settings, glide, FM, and more.

These VCOs are paired with Dreadbox's signature filter topology, offering classic 12dB or 24dB per octave low-pass modes, as well as a standalone resonant high-pass filter. The low-pass filter includes dedicated filter frequency FM control for dialling in edgier, modern tones.

Two multi-mode LFOs enhance the modulation possibilities: LFO 1 offers a unique fade-in parameter, while LFO 2 includes XMOD (cross-modulation) control for chaotic, brash textures. Each LFO has multiple waveforms and can modulate pitch, filter cutoff, VCO waveform, pulse width, and more.

This analogue powerhouse is complemented by a suite of world-class FX from Sinevibes, who previously collaborated with Dreadbox on Typhon's FX. With reverb, delay, modulation effects, master distortion, and more, Artemis delivers an extra dimension to your sounds.

The Ultimate Union of Power and Performance

opsix SE is a digital synth like no other. With a premium all-metal design, 61-keys, and aftertouch, it unlocks a new world of sonic capabilities. Building on the expansive sound engine in the original opsix, opsix SE enhances it with increased polyphony and voicing, resulting in a synthesizer created for superior performance and precise control.

The opsix Operator Mixer simplified FM synthesis for the first time, making it not just comprehensible but also controllable. With the addition of extra synthesis capabilities and programming, it offered a more efficient workflow and an even richer sound.

The opsix SE takes this even further. It is equipped with Korg's premium 61-key natural-touch keyboard, complete with aftertouch, delivering the exceptional tactile experience expected from Korg's flagship workstations. With a sleek, robust metal body, it's built for both the intensity of live gigs and the precision of studio sessions. The metallic knobs are optimally weighted for effortless adjustments. Underneath its exterior, the opsix SE boasts an incredible capacity of 80 stereo voices of polyphony.

The opsix SE arrives preloaded with hundreds of sounds enhanced for aftertouch control. Moreover, it is fully compatible with the sounds and samples from both the original opsix and the opsix Native software, including numerous high-quality libraries.

Build to play

opsix SE was born out of the desire to play this incredible synth with both hands. Equipped with KORG's premium 61-note natural-touch keyboard, the opsix SE offers the same outstanding tactile response as KORG's top-tier workstations. Aftertouch puts unparalleled control of all the exceptional opsix sounds at your fingertips. Of course, we've modernized the factory Performances for aftertouch and introduced some fresh ones to the mix as well. In fact, most of the opsix SE programs have been revised to make full use of aftertouch, extended keyboard, and polyphony.

Premium metal design

The opsix SE showcases a notable upgrade in aesthetics. A slim body, specifically designed for this instrument, features a striking brown painted aluminium control panel, paying homage to vintage machines. Together with the vivid, illuminating LEDs, it brings a vibrant energy to any stage performance. The side panels, painted in a sleek black metal, amplify the overall aesthetics for a luxurious finish.

Exclusive hard case included

The opsix SE ships in a dedicated hard case, including space for cables and a sustain pedal. Your instrument can travel protected, whether you're carrying it to a rehearsal downtown or packing it up for a tour.

Get Illuminated with the Operator Mixer

At the heart of every sound is opsix SE's Operator Mixer - a simple set of six faders and knobs that invite exploration. Each part lights up red to indicate carriers or blue for modulators. Manipulating them opens up new sound-shaping possibilities to breathe fresh life into your musical ideas. This straightforward, hands-on workflow is part of what makes opsix SE so unique, just like the sounds it offers.

Direct Hands-On Control

Whether you're tweaking a preset or building a patch from the ground up, the six data entry knobs on the right give you quick access to the parameters you need and seamlessly sync with the large OLED display, giving you a clear, focused direction to your workflow. Coupled with the mixer, it makes creating fresh sounds super easy and, most importantly, fun!

Select from a full range of analogue-style filters, from the radical Korg MS-20 low-pass/high-pass filter to the powerful yet smooth KORG Polysix low-pass filter that gives your sound a vintage feel. There are also two or four-pole low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and band-reject filters with resonance.

There's even a built-in spectrum analyser and oscilloscope that gives you visual feedback via the screen on the music you're making.

Six in One Synthesis

The core of opsix is nothing short of exponential. Since waveforms can be arranged and modulated in nearly infinite ways, opsix can easily do the sonic work that is similar to numerous types of synthesis:

Subtractive

Removing parts of the sound to get the sound you want; the most widely-used synthesis. opsix uses up to six envelopes and multi-modeled filters to achieve many cutting-edge and classical analog synthesis tones.

Semi-Modular
Rerouting signal paths to change the sound. A spin through the Alogorithm section will dramatically reshape the sound by changing how the signal routing between the operators work together, and no patch cables are needed.

Analog (Modelling)
Analog-style controls and plenty of stackable waveforms take you from digital to analogue-sounding in no time. Enjoy deep basses, crisp leads, thick pad sounds, fuzzy brass tones, and so much more.

Waveshaping

Adding intentional distortion to the waveforms to achieve aggressive overtones that are either harmonic or inharmonic. This will help you achieve gritty, bitey tones dripping with character.

Additive

Stacking waveforms and blending their harmonics is key to an expansive range of harmonious, dissonant, and tension-driven sounds. With six operators available, the complete FM experience is possible, including the ability to go back in time for classic sounds you have heard throughout recording history.

Classic FM

Last but certainly not least, opsix's highly flexible and powerful architecture starts with true six-Operator FM. As a result, it easily delivers signature sounds you have surely heard on thousands of hits from the '80s on through today, and with far more polyphony than other standalone FM synths available today.

With all of these ways to realize and explore sounds, opsix SE is uniquely suited as a "future-modern-classic" synth!

Altered Reality

opsix SE is FM-based, but the similarities to the classic synthesis end there. The Altered FM architecture delivers sounds across a vast spectrum, far wider than any single synthesis has been able to cover before, thanks to new sound components; new waveforms, filters, shaping, effects, LFOs, envelopes, modulations, and more, all translating to its broad assortment of sounds.

Powerful Effects Processing

opsix SE provides three blocks of 30 types of high-definition effects that you can use together to enhance your sounds even further. There's everything from a great mix of usable standard effects like chorus, phaser, delay, and compressor to some world-class shimmering reverbs that will elevate your sound to the next level.

Automatable 16-step sequencer

opsix SE features an incredible step sequencer that rivals groove boxes for flexibility and power. Press the PLAY button on any sound and experience the complexity of the sequences! Every Program has its unique sequence stored with it, or create your very own.

You can record up to six notes per step and edit each note's velocity, gate time, and playback timing. Create long phrases or make subtle shifts in timing to emulate strums or drum rolls, something that's not possible on a typical 16-step sequencer. The motion sequencer of the opsix SE also lets you record changes of up to six parameters, creating smooth motion changes in sound within a phrase or building rhythms that change dramatically with each step.

Two tempo-syncable LFO's with four waves, fade in and fade out parameters and a seriously wide operating range.
Ring modulation available at the mixer
And a unique modulation routing controller with 6 choices of modulation parameters, 6 choices of modulation sources and scale control, which used to scale the effect of the modulation.

In development over the last period of his life Chris threw everything into Mantis. Although incomplete when he sadly passed away in 2020, he handed the project over to Paul of PWM to carry on and continue the project.

Jomox Mod FM D 8-Voice 4-OP FM Analogue Synthesiser
Cat: 1046056 Rel: 18 Nov 24

8-voice 4-operator frequency modulator analogue synthesiser
Notes: A year ago, Jomox brought out the Mod FM as a eurorack module.

Now, Jomox present almost the same synth, but as a desktop unit, with its own PSU, Midi, standard 1/4" balanced outputs and analogue volume control.

The Mod FM D has an analogue side chain stereo input that gets routed into the Mod FM D effects, and can be mixed to the synth.

The ratio of synth + input/effects can be controlled via an analogue dry/wet potentiometer.

The Mod FM D is a completely self-contained 8 voice FM synth in desktop format, which can create powerful sounds out of the box without lacking the commonly provided CV modulation possibilities.

It provides 4 Operators and 2 LFOs/VCOs per voice. Additionally, it has 2 analogue filters and analogue VCAs per voice which apply analogue warmth and depth to the Mod FM D, although the FM engine is digital of course.

Each voice has its own CV/Gate inputs and an individual output. There is a mix output which separates even and odd voices. Here you can mix internal effects like delay and reverb to the stereo output signal.

Next to the CV/Gate control, the Mod FM D has Midi in and out and a USB C connector which handles Midi too.

Even without diving too much into complicated setups you can create extremely good sounding and metallic FM sounds, snappy bases but also soft and deep sounding analogue style sounds as tons of crazy weird stuff.

Furthermore, the Mod FM D offers a variety of external cv modulations in order to modulate each operator individually or control the FM envelopes.

The Mod FM D is fully multitimbral, i.e. each voice can play an own sound in Multi Mode which gets stored as a complete multi set (not only vectorized). That is, you can copy a single sound to the desired multi, but edits made on that particular multi get stored along with the multi set.

Hence, we have the biggest advantage of the hybrid approach:

Analogue and modular is great but can be very complex, and you might be trapped in a system where you never reach again the pretty sound of the latest session. Storability certainly helps.

The different sections in more detail:

Matrix FM:

4 operators are arranged in a matrix, in which every operator (= sine oscillator) can be modulated by each one of the other three.

The 16 endless potentiometers of the matrix adjust the modulation amount (FM amt) and the base frequency of the operators.

For each operator you can change the base frequency by the diagonal knobs.

There are several overtone modes that determine if one operator is controlled by the keynote (or CV) = base operator, or if it's locked in as overtone (= overtone operator) to the assigned base operator. For the base operator, the number resembles xxx semitones added to the keynote.

For the overtone operator, the adjusted number is the xxx = Nth overtone or harmonics to the base operator frequency.

The locked overtone operator tracks the base operator and is still able to modulate and being modulated.

Each operator has an ADSR envelope. This envelope can also be used to frequency-modulate the operator.

Algorithm:

The algorithms from the known FM synthesis are actually special cases to the whole matrix.

As it gets pretty quickly uncontrollable if you turn all the knobs due to the feedback, Jomox have decided to implement the algorithms. There are 26 algorithms, that are derived from the DX9 with its 4 operators.

At this menu it's even possible to change the frequency mode of each operator to a fixed frequency that is edited in single Hz and which does not follow the keynote, but only modulation. That makes sense for e.g. percussive sounds.

LFO/VCO:

Each voice has 2 LFOs which can modulate either the frequency (FM) or the amplitude (AM) of an operator. Every LFO addresses 64 different wave forms that are displayed in the right OLED display.

There is another feature: each LFO can be switched into a VCO that covers the whole audio range. You can even mix it into the signal chain and it tracks to the keynote. The former LFO rate parameter turns into a detune parameter. That is, you can create classic sounding rectangle/sawtooth analogue basses or string pads - and much more of course.

Filter:

Each voice contains an analogue filter which is build up with the chip SSI2140 from Sound Semiconductor, which is an improved modern version of the old SSM2040, designed by Dave Rossum, and which had been used in Oberheim synths and the early SCI Prophet-5.

The filter has a classic 24dB output and a 12dB state-variable multimode-filter. The three basic characteristic outputs LP/BP/HP can be cross-faded continuously with one parameter called shape.

Both filter outputs 24dB/12dB can be mixed independently.

The ADSR for the filter is fast and cuts in very quick and directly, the resonance is well adjustable.

The filter section contains an own LFO for the cutoff which is independent from the digital sound engine and has also 64 waveforms.

The ADSR for the filter is fast and cuts in very quick and directly, the resonance is well adjustable.

The filter section contains an own LFO for the cutoff which is independent from the digital sound engine and has also 64 waveforms.

The VCA is a fast transistor-vca which is important for snappy sounds. The same transistor-vca is used in all Jomox drum products. Therefore the ModFM can be used as a rich source for technoid drums and percussions of any kind.

On the analogue voice board there is another sound source: Metal Noise. It can be mixed into the filter independently from the digital engine (= FM synth) and offers again an inexhaustible pool of weird sounds.

FX:

The Mod FM D also has an FX section added: reverb and 2x delay. These only work on the stereo mix output. The delay can be beat-synchronized via midi clock and offers a very short delay time in millisecond range. That gives you flanging and oil-can-like effects.

Erica Synths Steampipe 8-Voice Polyphonic Physical Modelling Synthesiser
Cat: 946494 Rel: 30 Dec 24

A true physical modelling synthesiser developed in close collaboration with Dutch company 112.dB.
Notes: No oscillators, 8 voice polyphony.

The Steampipe is a true physical modelling synthesizer developed in close collaboration with Dutch company 112.dB.

The Steampipe has no conventional oscillators. Instead, it mimics the way sound is created in wind instruments and it is fine-tuned to create a wide range of sounds - everything from wind instruments to strings, pipe organs, crazy effects and beyond. The Steampipe has three major sections - STEAM, PIPE and REVERBERATOR.

The STEAM section can be compared to the lungs and mouth of a musician. The generator creates the flow of air or "steam", the envelope in this section determines the force with which it is blown out. DC/noise is the noise you get when blowing out. DC/Noise on the Steampipe can also be replaced with an external audio source.

The PIPE section can be compared to a flute. In the pipe, the tune is formed. Push (in feedback) bounces the steam like it does in a flute and generates the tone. The delay box subsection changes the flute's tuning and shape.

The REVERBERATOR adds space and ambience to the sound.

The Steampipe is optimized for performance with wind MIDI controllers and it works great with any MIDI keyboard. The overtones the Steampipe produces are very organic and rich and it comes with great-sounding presets. The Steampipe is rather versatile and allows for nuanced sonic exploration, conjuring sonic imagery ranging from from wisps of cloud to fairground band organs, then to industrial horns of the railroad and finally, to massive, otherworldly ambiences.

multi/poly features redesigned, incredibly detailed filters and oscillators, and advances in analogue modelling that take this technology to a new level. Each voice contains a Virtual Voice Card, where oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFOs, and portamento circuits are modelled to reflect analogue hardware component variations. As a result, each voice can have its own slightly different character, creating rich and naturally evolving timbres. Just like in an analogue synthesizer, voice cards continue to play even if you're not hearing them. Envelopes evolve naturally, meaning if you play a long pad with an extended-release time, newly played notes "catch" the envelope at its current state rather than restarting from zero. Oscillators and LFOs maintain phase, while resonance continues to ring out. Pitch drift mimics the subtle instabilities of true analogue hardware.

multi/poly also includes envelope curvature presets inspired by classic synths like the Mono/Poly, MS-20, ARP Odyssey, and Prophet 5. Additionally, analogue VCAs behave differently depending on voltage, with varying thresholds for turning on and off, which has a strong impact on the Amp Envelope's character. multi/poly models VCA responses from the Mono/Poly, MS-20, Prophet 5, Mini, Odyssey, and more, alongside a linear option.

Four Oscillators Per Program for Complex Tones

multi/poly offers four oscillators per Program, providing thick, multi-layered tones. You can choose from three types of oscillators:

Classic oscillators:

These faithfully model traditional analogue waveforms with stunning accuracy. The 11 options include both single and dual waveforms, giving you rich, thick sounds. Front-panel knobs offer control over pulse width, triangle "lean," dual-waveform blending, and more.

Digital oscillators

Play wavetables with up to 64 steps, like vintage hybrid synths or modern Eurorack modules. Start with over 200 factory wavetables or import your own using the Editor/Librarian software for macOS and Windows. You can even import Modwave wavetables or convert wavetables from popular software formats. The 30+ Modifiers allow you to reshape wavetables, while 8 Morph Types (Stretch, Flip, Mirror, etc.) process them in real time.

Waveshaper oscillators

Inspired by West-Coast synthesis, these oscillators take simple waveforms (sine or triangle) and process them through a shaper table, producing dynamic harmonics. Use the Berkeley shaper for traditional wavefolding timbres, or choose from over 90 shaper types for a vast array of tones. The multi/poly also supports modulatable pulse width, adding richness and motion to your sound.

Additionally, the multi/poly includes a noise generator with dedicated filtering and saturation, and a ring modulator with inputs from the oscillators. You can create powerful sounds by leveraging the enhanced sync and x-mod capabilities, which expand on the Mono/Poly's original design. Create unique tones by syncing oscillators 2, 3, and 4 to oscillator 1, or split sync and x-mod into pairs for independent control.

Dual Modelled Filters for Maximum Flexibility

multi/poly's filters are newly redesigned to offer a range of classic and modern options. The multi/poly also includes the MS-20 LP and HP 12dB/octave Korg 35 filters, recreating the aggressive, distinctive sound of the MS-20. For gentler tones, use the SE M/P 2-pole filter, which offers continuous control for sweeping between lowpass, band-reject, and highpass, with a separate bandpass mode. multi/poly's filters support audio-rate modulation, allowing you to modulate filters using any oscillator or the ring modulator for bright, fizzy, and bubbling effects.

M/Poly: A 4-pole self-resonating filter, modelled on the Mono/Poly.
Mini: A ladder filter from a famous American mono-synth, with reduced resonance at low frequencies-perfect for bass.
Pro: From the first programmable polyphonic synthesizer, offering strong resonant sweeps.
Ladder HP/BP: 4-pole self-resonating highpass and bandpass filters.
Use the Drive circuit to add weight or distortion, ranging from subtle thickening to extreme saturation. You can use two filters at once in series or parallel, with each source (oscillators, noise, and ring mod) having its own balance control to crossfade between filters. Modulate the A/B balance for even more creative sound shaping.

The Power of Four

multi/poly's structure allows you to build four Layers, each containing a separate Program. This adds an entirely new dimension of sonic complexity, as you can layer up to four Programs simultaneously in a Performance. These can be used to create massive, multi-layered sounds or creative splits and velocity-triggered variations. Each Program features its own set of oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFOs, and effects, allowing you to craft detailed, evolving performances that change with every key press.
Each Program starts with four oscillators, a noise generator, and both sync and x-mod capabilities. These are processed through two independent filters, providing massive tonal flexibility. For modulation, multi/poly includes four loopable DAHDSR envelopes, five LFOs, and six Mod Processors, allowing you to create detailed and evolving sounds.

Layer Rotate for Evolving Performances

The Layer Rotate feature allows you to cycle through these four Programs with each key press, ensuring dynamic, ever-changing performances. Inspired by the original Mono/Poly's paraphonic mode, Layer Rotate offers endless creative possibilities. You can set the Layers to trigger in random or repeating order and use them in combination with the arpeggiator for complex, mind-bending patterns.

Production-ready Effects

The multi/poly's effects ensure your sounds are polished and ready for the stage or studio. Each layer features three dedicated effects, along with a send to the Performance's master reverb and a master parametric EQ. In addition to standard effects like compressors, EQs, choruses, flangers, phasers, and stereo delays, you'll have access to unique sound-shaping processors such as the Wave Shaper, Talking Modulator, Reverse Delay, and Multiband Mod Delay, as well as the famous Overb from the OASYS and Kronos. multi/poly also includes modelled effects like Vox guitar amps, Vox wah, Vintage Distortion, CX-3 Rotary Speaker and Vibrato/Chorus, multi-head tape echo, and a collection of classic guitar pedals, giving you endless possibilities to shape your sound.

Built to Perform

An instrument that sounds this great deserves to look and feel fantastic, too. The new semi-weighted keybed is smooth and expressive, providing a responsive playing experience, while the knobs offer just the right amount of resistance, perfect for fine-tuning your sounds. The solid aluminium front panel ensures durability, making it road-ready for live performances, while the wooden side-panels and blue-on-black colour scheme are a stylish nod to the original Mono/Poly design. Plus, the multi/poly comes with a custom-made soft case, making it easy to transport and protect your instrument wherever you go.

The Spectrum Generator

The Spectrum Generator uses pre-defined reference spectra and various harmonic manipulation tools to provide precise control and alteration of the timbre. Adjust formant, rotation of bins, the waveform used for signal reconstruction and more to craft the raw character. These parameters can be modulated for some complex soundscape creation.

The Sub-Oscillator

The Sub-Oscillator is designed to complement the Spectrum Generator, providing a wide range of sonic material to choose from. It features modern Virtual Analog Algorithms for classic waveform generation and super-saw and super-square waveforms. Additionally, it can play user-imported short waveforms for even greater versatility in sound creation.

The Noise Module

The Noise Module is an advanced source including a built-in continuous low-pass to high-pass filter for precise control over the noise spectral content. The noise sample rate can be programmed to generate crackles, glitches, or pure white noise, depending on the needs.

The Ring Modulator

The Ring Modulator is an iconic tool that multiplies the outputs of the two oscillators, making it perfect for generating inharmonic tones, special effects, and percussive sounds.

The Multimode Filter

The Multimode Filter uses hand-written assembly algorithms based on latest research on analogue modeling technology. It offers classic shapes in 12 and 24dB/octave, with filter tracking and self-resonance capabilities. The built-in saturations add subtle warmth and colour to the sound. The filter has a very smooth & natural ground character and react very fast to cutoff changes handling filter FM and fast envelopes with style.

The Overdrive

The Overdrive is a post-filter effect with a range of models, from gentle saturation and tube overdrive to more aggressive signal destruction through bitcrushing and clipping. It adds grit, warmth, and distortion to the sound for a dynamic and expressive performance. Algorithms are very natural sounding, analogue-like.

Meta-Envelopes
The Meta-Envelopes share their Attack, Sustain, and Release parameters, while each Decay stage is independent. Envelope stages can be switched on or off, allowing for a variety of shapes from a full ADSR to a simple gate. MIDI Velocity can be set to influence the Attack and Decay times, and envelope amplitude can be scaled with aftertouch. Envelopes can be looped and reset on triggering or set to keep its previous value.

Custom-LFOs

The Custom-LFOs provide an eclectic set of more than 16 waveforms, including noises and other algorithms, waveforms which can be chained together to create complex modulation sequences. Each LFO has its own AR envelope with Rise and Fall controls, and can be MIDI clocked and restarted for precise synchronization. Additionally, some MIDI parameters can influence the LFO amplitude.

The Modulation Matrix

The Modulation Matrix consists of 3x slots for each voice, providing extensive routing options to enhance the hardwired connections. The matrix offers a large selection of sources and destinations that cover almost all sound parameters. The modulation amount can be scaled by common MIDI parameters such as Aftertouch, Velocity, and more, allowing for expressive playing styles.

The Delay Module

The Delay Module offers Mono, Stereo, and Ping-Pong modes, with MIDI clock synchronization and adjustable feedback, mix, and colour controls. It supports a range of delay lengths, from very short - resonator-like - to free delay length up to 8 seconds. Each part has its own independent delay module.

The Equalizer Section

The Equalizer Section features two independent equalizers for each part, offering cut, boost, or shelf modes and adjustable corner frequencies. This is a powerful tool for blending the sounds of the different parts.

The Part Mixer

The Part Mixer provides flexible routing (audio buses), volume and panning controls for each part. It also defines the amount of signal sent to the master Reverb.

The Master Reverb

The Master Reverb is a high-quality algorithmic reverberation unit with a pleasant not bright but clean sound. It offers multiple programs with rooms and halls. This reverb is a handy mixing tool, making the overall sound more cohesive and polished.

Electronics

Manatee is powered by 2x 200MHz dual-core DSPs, offering advanced audio synthesis capabilities and an impressive dynamic range. Included too are 128 MBit of SRAM, 512 kBit of EEPROM, 4x 24-bit Burr Brown DACs, and transparent line and headphone drivers.

User Interface

The interface offers hands-on controls over all major synthesis parameters for all sound modules. The strong torque potentiometers feature Nylon knobs that provide a satisfying haptic feel. The high contrast 16x2 LCD screen clearly displays feedback through both text and small graphics.

Soma Laboratory Lyra-8 8-Voice Organismic Analogue Synthesiser (orange)
Cat: 1028791 Rel: 09 Jul 24

8-voice organismic analogue synthesiser
Notes: Welcome to the world of sound of LYRA-8, the unique organismic analogue synthesiser designed by Vlad Kreimer. "Organismic" means that LYRA uses some principles that lie in the base of living organisms. The way how LYRA's modules interacting between each other and the behaviour of the instrument resembles a live conversation.

LYRA-8 is based on eight generators, which will be referred to as voices. Their design is not like a traditional subtractive synthesis VCO. Instead of having a linear or logarithmic dependency on control voltage, they resemble the tone generators in old electric organs. Hence the use of the term "voices" instead of "VCOs". Lyra uses non-linearity a lot, and the voices are constructed in such a way that allows for non-linearity to express itself.

The voices are divided into four pairs (12, 34, 56, 78). All the pairs are divided in two groups, with two pairs in each (1234, 5678), creating tree-like structure.

The voices can function either in an electric organ mode or in an FM synthesis mode with each of the voices and its envelope acting as a separate FM operator. The voice's impact on FM synthesis will decrease along with the decay of its envelope.

LYRA-8 also has the next blocks:

The HYPER LFO is a complex low-frequency generator, whose waveform is synthesized from two simple LFOs by summation or multiplication of their frequencies. It also has a sync mode. The LFO can modulate the selected pairs of voices and the MOD DELAY.

The MOD DELAY consists of two lines of delay with cross-feedback and a special architecture that enables resonance between the two lines. Each line's delay time can be individually modulated from various sources, including external ones. The delay has a unique possibility of self-modulation where the output signal modulates the delay sample rate, creating cool effects.

The DISTORTION is last in the chain, after the delay. It enables the delay to also influence the distortion.

For all its experimental character, LYRA is a professional instrument. Its output dynamics and frequency response are balanced and ready for a live performance or studio recording without any additional processing.

Lorre Mill Double Knot v3 Patchable Groove & Drone Synthesiser
Cat: 1063161 Rel: 19 Mar 25

A small generative synthesizer with two voices and corresponding sequencers
Notes: A lovely creative approach to generative synthesis. Dual voices with triangle/square wave oscillators, shift register and envelopes can be patched via banana cables to create unique grooves and drones.

Supplier's Notes:
Double Knot v3

The Double Knot v3 is a small generative synthesizer with two voices and corresponding sequencers. This instrument has a simple architecture which is capable of a wide variety of sounds, including rhythms and drum patterns or textural and grating noise sounds. The interface is made up of knobs, switches, and banana plugs for patching. The two voices of this device each consist of a triangle/square wave oscillator, a shift register sequencer, an enveloper, and a voltage controlled amplifier. A clock sets the tempo of the shift registers.

The voices of the Double Knot are pre-wired, in a linear chain of functional blocks. The patch points are available to route modulations, influencing the simple linear voices. The game of this device is to investigate the relationships between the elements of the synth using the knobs, switches and patch-points.

FAQ

How many banana cables do I need? and what length?

8 or 10 cables around 12" long is a great start.

Can I patch this with my other synth?

Only what is safe for this synth. The banana ports of this device can handle max +/- 8V at all inputs and outputs assuming at least a 1k output impedance in the other device. The response range of the voltage inputs is ~1.2v - 8V (range of a TL07x powered by 9V).

Is this synth good by itself, or does it rely on other devices to be useful?

Some good sounds can be had using this device and a handful of banana cables.

Moog Labyrinth Semi-Modular Parallel Generative Analogue Synthesiser
Cat: 1019481 Rel: 11 Jul 24

Labyrinth is a semi-modular instrument and idea machine that discovers patterns, layers, and textures both familiar and unheard
Notes: A fresh new take on synthesis from the legendary Moog. The Labyrinth combines two generative sequencers with parallel analogue signal paths to create evolving sounds and patterns.

Supplier's Notes:
Labyrinth, a semi-modular instrument and idea machine, discovers patterns, layers, and textures both familiar and unheard. Two generative sequencers bring to life sounds that bloom over time, letting you control their evolution and scale, then play them off of each other for striking polymetric melodies. With parallel analogue signal paths, this unique instrument shines when adding colour to the static backdrop of a drum pattern or bassline. Fully capable of standing on its own, or adding depth to your existing rack, it's equally at home in a live set or at the centre of a humble bedroom studio. Labyrinth is the lightning in a bottle that drives a studio session deeper into undiscovered creative caverns.

The beating heart of Labyrinth is a robust dual sequencer, which uses chance operations to construct two unique eight-step paths which twist and curve around each other, forming a mesmerizing path of sound. With a comprehensive patch bay, Labyrinth can be synced via analogue clock or MIDI while processing, directing, and being influenced by other kit.

Tune your instruments together and let Labyrinth improvise alongside in key while you play Matriarch. Patch Labyrinth and Spectravox together for animated spectral movement. Combine Labyrinth with Mavis in a 104HP rack for expanded modularity.

These are just a handful of many playful setups where Labyrinth fits. Whichever path you choose, have Labyrinth guide you.

Dual generative sequencers create intertwining melodies that mutate over time. It's a fountain of inspiration that uncovers patterns you can capture, return to, and evolve.

A fresh approach to the signature sound of classic Moog synthesizers with a smooth West Coast-style voltage-controlled wavefolder. Two oscillators drive duophonic melodic counterpoints, metallic FM tones, and analogue synthetic drums.

State variable resonant voltage-controlled filters that morph between lowpass and bandpass responses let you experiment with smooth command over complex tonal shapes.

A parallel voice processing path with a voltage-controlled blending allows you to morph sounds over time.

A comprehensive patch bay for integration with a wide variety of other modules in your rack and studio.

ASM Hydrasynth Explorer 888 Polyphonic Wave Morphing Synthesiser (orange limited edition)
Cat: 1052523 Rel: 03 Feb 25

8-voice 37-key polyphonic digital wave morphing synthesiser
Notes: Limited-edition orange version of the superb Hydrasynth Explorer. A smaller, more affordable version of the Hydrasynth Keyboard. Advanced wavetable synthesis with 8-voice polyphony, hands-on control and an excellent keybed with polyphonic aftertouch.

Supplier's Notes:
The HYDRASYNTH EXPLORER is the ultimate in power and portability, combining the powerful Hydrasynth sound engine with battery-powered operation and the new, mid-sized Polytouch polyphonic aftertouch keybed. The user interface is designed with the utmost attention to detail, making sound creation a breeze. This is the ultimate, portable companion for any setup, and anywhere else a smaller footprint is needed.

With an advanced wavetable synthesis engine, 3 Oscillators, dual Wave Mutants, and 2 filters that can be configured in series or parallel, the tone generating capabilities are unmatched.

As for the performance capabilities, the Hydrasynth Explorer has the proprietary 37-note mid-sized Polytouch keybed with polyphonic aftertouch. This provides a level of expressive, per-note control found only in certain vintage synths.

Polytouch Keybed

The perennial pursuit of musical instrument manufacturers is to find better ways for musicians to express themselves. Options have been limited for keyboard players; ASM had to settle for a velocity-only approach to emphasize one note over another. Pressure-sensitive keyboards could only change all of the notes at the same time. Not anymore!

Enter ASM, with patented Polytouch technology. The semi-weighted keybed on the Hydrasynth Explorer provides fully polyphonic aftertouch, as well as Note On / Note Off velocity sensitivity and the monophonic aftertouch found on other keybeds. Finally, variations in key pressure can affect notes individually. It feels great, too: the 37-note Polytouch keybed on the Explorer features high quality, mid-sized keys, and you will feel right at home, right away. The revolutionary Hydrasynth Explorer Polytouch keyboard helps you be more in touch with the music you are making. Now every note you play can ebb and flow like the tide.

Battery-powered operation

The Hydrasynth Explorer is highly portable! In addition to its compact size, it can be powered by 8 AA batteries for hours of music-making anywhere you want to go.

Oscillators
The tone generation capability is the heart of any synthesizer, and the 3 Hydrasynth oscillators are alive with potential. Each of the oscillators lets you choose from a selection of 219 single-cycle waveforms. And on top of that, two of the oscillators have powerful wavemorphing capabilities. Wavemorphing is a feature usually found on synths with preset wavetables. But creating user wavetables on those products is arduous or downright impossible. Unlike most wavetable synths, the oscillators 1 & 2 have an easy-to-use WAVELIST mode. This mode lets you select any 8 waves from the diverse collection of 219 waves, arrange them in the order you want, and then morph from one wave to another. This can be done automatically with any modulation source, such as an LFO or an envelope, or manually with a physical control such as polyphonic aftertouch or a Macro. And now in version 2.0 you can choose the bit depth of each oscillator, which puts those sought-after vintage or grungy sounds at your fingertips.

Mutants
Oscillators 1 & 2 are routed into ASM's MUTANTS. The Mutants allow you to modulate, bend and sculpt the sound in new (and old) ways.

Each Mutant lets you choose from the following processes:
FM-Linear: This is for making classic FM sounds. Choose multiple FM sources, including external inputs.
WavStack™: Creates 5 copies of the input source and allows you to set a detune amount.
Osc Sync: This gives you those classic hard sync sounds. Try hard-syncing a morphing wavetable for some fun.
Pulse Width Modulation (PW-Orig): Performs the classic pulse width modulation on any waveform.
PW-Squeeze: Compresses the centre section of the waveform, for a unique type of PWM.
PW-ASM: Divides the incoming wave into 8 slices and lets you set the amount of FM that is applied to each segment. This is FM unleashed.
Harmonic Sweep: This will sweep the harmonics of the input source.
PhazDiff: Generates the difference of the incoming wave and a version that is inverted and phase-shifted.

The Mutants can also generate their own waveforms in both FM and Sync modes, so you don't have use another oscillator. Of course, the routing is flexible so you can choose the other oscillators as mod sources if you like.

Mixer / Filter Routing
The 3 Oscillators are fed into a mixer along with the Noise generator and Ring Modulator. The mixer gives you independent control over the levels and stereo positions of those 5 sources. After this you are able to choose how much signal from each source is routed to filters 1 and 2. The filters can be routed in parallel or series for ultimate flexibility. Who knew that a simple mixer could be so powerful?

Filters
If oscillators and tone generators are the heart of a synthesizer, the filters are the soul. The soul of a Hydrasynth is a complex thing; it can claw or caress, scream or soothe, mangle or melt. It has been known to speak. The multi-faceted Hydrasynth filters are right in the thick of it. Filter 1 has 16 different models ranging from 1 to 8 poles, many with high-, band-, and low pass options. There is also a flexible vocal filter with formant control. Even if Filter 1 were the only filter the Hydrasynth had, it would take a lifetime to exhaust the possibilities. But it is not alone. Filter 2 is a 12dB per octave state-variable filter, which means it can sweep continuously from either low pass > bandpass > high pass or low pass > notch > high pass. It is similar to the classic SEM filter in many ways.
These two formidable filters can be configured in series or parallel. This means the one can feed and be sculpted by the other (series), or they can complement one another (parallel). With careful use of source panning in the Mixer module, the left and right outputs can be completely different or rich in unified complexity.

LFO's
5 Low-Frequency Oscillators
Much like ASM's sound engine, the LFOs are not ordinary by any means.
The Hydrasynth LFOs feature a STEP mode that lets you create patterns with up to 64 steps. Having 5 mini step sequencers gives you an amazing number of possibilities for further shaping your sound.
Of course, there are also 10 standard waveforms available, including Sample and Hold, Noise, and Random.
Each LFO has delay, fade in, 3 triggering modes, smoothing, start phase, BPM sync, and a One-Shot mode so that they can act as envelopes.
The version 2.0 LFOs have some exciting new features, including a Step option for the One-Shot mode that allows the Step wave to advance by one step per trigger.
And LFOs now can be quantized to create stepped values. It's like bit reduction for your LFOs.
Wait...LFOs can be envelopes?! Can envelopes be LFOs? Glad you asked...

Envelopes
5 DAHDSR Envelopes
An advanced sound engine needs plenty of modulation sources. The 6-stage envelopes feature Delay, Attack, Hold, Decay, Sustain, and Release stages.
The durations of the ADR stages can be set to seconds or subdivisions of the tempo, giving you envelopes that play in sync to your song.
In fact, you can also loop the envelopes, which turns them into LFOs that can be shaped by any source in the modulation matrix.
Each envelope can be triggered by up to four different sources, and there's a Tap Trigger option too.
And now the envelopes can be quantized to different step levels as of version 2.0. Bit reduction strikes again!

Modulation Matrix
The modulation capabilities on the Hydrasynth are endless. With 32 user-definable Modulation matrix slots, there are plenty of ways to use the 35 modulation sources and 191 modulation destinations. Almost everything in the synth engine can be a modulation destination, including the effects and arpeggiator. The modulation routes themselves can also become modulation destinations, and can be targeted by the Macros too. Modulation sources & destinations include the CV Mod Out jacks as well as all 128 MIDI CCs. There are some hard-wired modulation routes located in other modules too. This means you don't have to burn up one of the 32 mod routes in the Modulation matrix to do certain basic functions.

Arpeggiator
The arpeggiator has all the standard arpeggio directions plus a few twists (up, down, and/or sideways, sort of). There's also a built-in phrase mode, and version 2.0 adds new features like Step Offset and increases the range to 6 octaves. Parameters like RATCHET and CHANCE will generate other semi-random rhythmic patterns to add life and spontaneity to your performance.
You can also modulate most of the parameters in the arpeggiator. Imagine using LFOs, Envelopes, Polyphonic Aftertouch or the Ribbon controller to modify your arpeggios in real time! It boggles the mind.

The EaganMatrix Micro provides a truly versatile framework for both studio and live performance, with a robust implementation of MPE and MPE+ Midi.

The EaganMatrix Micro is a perfect companion to the amazing Warbl Wind Controller.

The fingering holes on the Warbl are not just switches. You can hear that the pitch starts off a bit as the finger gets close to the hole (like it would on an acoustic wind instrument) and hits the final pitch once the hole is covered. It's a subtle effect but important. The following video shows 15 Presets from the Micro's demo assortment that Edmund Eagan skillfully customized to take advantage of the Warbl's specific sensing technology. In the future there may be demo assortments customized for the sensing technologies of other devices.

Hundreds of System Presets are included with the EaganMatrix Micro. An external cross-platform (Mac and PC) Haken Editor may be connected to modify and customize the supplied EaganMatrix System Presets, or create completely new presets from scratch.

The EaganMatrix Sound Technology, originally created for the highly sensitive Continuum, is now available to you in this compact form factor.
