ACL System 2 Desktop Modular Synthesiser
ACL System 2 Desktop Modular Synthesiser (desktop modular synthesiser)
Cat: 765867 Rel: 17 Jul 20

Desktop modular synthesiser
Notes: Beautiful complete modular system from Berlin-based Audiophile Circuits League. Based around two contrasting VCOs and a ladder filter, but with massive depth beyond the basics.

Supplier notes:
With System II Audiophile Circuits League presents a powerful modular Synthesizer with two full-featured Oscillators and an extremely musical Lowpass filter. Based on the Multifunction Discrete VCO and the Variable Sync VCO, System II serves with an unbelievably vast sound spectrum, from thick basses to aggressive Leads. The new VC Dual Amp provides a crystal clear sound, which can be perfectly integrated in the studio thanks to the high quality Audio Interface.

System II is a beautiful compact system, suitable for all situations.

System 2 is a modular instrument built entirely from ACL components. The search for a microcomputer in this system would be in vain because all modules are analog and for the most part discrete.

The whole thing comes in a metal case with oak side panels. A KAZU power supply is also included. - However, not as a module, but discreetly installed inside. This leaves four partial units for personal additions. The KAZU power supply is characterized by minimal interference and voltage peaks. The same applies to the built-in EVE 1 bus board. The result: extremely clear high-end sound.

Included modules:
Multifunction Discrete VCO
2 x Oktave
Variable Sync VCO
Discrete Core Ladder VCF
Gate Mix
2 x Multi II
Envelope X3
2 x QLFO
2 x VC Dual Amp

Black Corporation Deckard's Dream Mk2 Eight Voice Polyphonic Analogue Desktop Synthesiser
Cat: 767533 Rel: 15 Jan 21

desktop synthesier
Notes: Deckard's Dream MkII is an eight-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer in desktop format. It is inspired by a certain cinematic sound from the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The synth features a fully analog signal path with two independent layers per voice. Discrete waveshapers help to reproduce the oddities of the original waveforms, especially the sawtooth glitch, which is a big part of the CS-80 sound. An autotune function assures that all 16 VCOs are tracking perfectly. It even offers detune and microtuning settings for a more vintage feel. With the addition of MIDI implementation, 256 presets (which can be managed on the integrated OLED display) and an upcoming software editor provided by Spektro Audio, this vintage inspired poly synth is at home in any modern studio.

For each layer, the synth offers a VCO with square, saw and sine waveforms, discrete 12 dB HP and LP filters with separate resonance controls, an ADSR for the filter with adjustable initial and attack levels, and an ADSR dedicated to the VCA. The synth also provides velocity and aftertouch controls for filter brilliance and volume levels.

Furthermore, polyphonic aftertouch gives Deckard's Dream expression that has only been possible on a very small number of synthesizers. MPE technology (using controllers by ROLI, LinnStrument, Haken) takes this even further with the addition of polyphonic pitch bend.
The Deckard's Dream MkII delivers everything the previous version did, in a new thin and light tabletop format with woodsides or rack-ears (both included). It also brings additional controls over Sustain modes and timing.

The synth is build in Japan, Tokyo, using only high quality electronic components.

Erica Synths Fusion System II Synthesiser (UK plug)
Cat: 780750 Rel: 30 Sep 20

Fusion synthesiser
Notes: Erica's brilliant valve-based Fusion modules bundled together into a complete system. Unique sound and features. Includes skiff case, patch cables and everything you need to get started.

Supplier's Notes:
Vacuum tube based eurorack modular synthesizer for sounds of unprecedented pressure.

Erica Synths is one of the few manufacturers that use vacuum tubes in eurorack modules, and those, who are familiar with tube-based modules, know that tubes can push the sound to extremes or turn it deep, saturated and complete.

Erica Synths have come up with three new Fusion series modules - Fusion VCF3, Fusion Modulator (already available) and Fusion VCA/Waveshaper/Ringmodulator - to create the Erica Synths Fusion System II - a modular synthesiser for sounds of unprecedented pressure, unconventional modulations and creativity-inspiring patching. A 104HP system has 63 patchpoints for extensive experiments in sound design, all analogue signal and CV path; it's a system for those, who take sound design seriously.

Fusion System II includes:

Two Fusion VCO2s - fully analogue sound source with three simultaneously available waveforms, transistor-based suboscillator and detune function - two BBD delay lines that make frequency shifter that is mixed back to the principal oscillator in order to emulate two detuned VCOs. Tube crunch - distinct tube overdrive - is added on the top of the mix.

Fusion VCF3 - resonant 24dB/oct lowpass filter of unique design that combines vacuum tubes and vactrols, providing distinct, soft filtering. For more versatility a CV recorder, that records motion of the potentiometer, is incorporated in the module, so you can design advanced modulation patterns.

Fusion Modulator - complex, all analogue CV source that consists of several blocks - two EMS Synthi functionality inspired looping envelope generators with simultaneous unipolar (0V-10V) and bipolar (-5V-+5V), VCA, Noise generator and Sample&Hold.

Fusion VCA/Waveshaper/Ringmodulator - a modulation source based on two miniature pentodes that operates as VCA, waveshaper and ringmodulator. With two CVs applied simultaneously to different stages of the VCA, audio rate modulations, using ringmodulator as a waveshaper it becomes surprisingly versatile sound shaping module.

Fusion Delay/Flanger/Vintage Ensemble - a distinct multifunctional analogue effects module that combines BBD chip based effects with an adjustable tube overdrive in the delay output and a feedback path for extra thickness of the sound.

104HP One Row Skiff case (with or without a lid)

20 patch cables

Erica Synths Pico System II Desktop Modular Synthesiser
Cat: 778768 Rel: 30 Sep 20

modular synthesiser
Notes: The world's smallest modular synth. Serious options in a compact setup via a carefully chosen selection of Erica's tiny Pico modules: sequencing, synths, drums, effects and more.

Supplier's Notes:
Erica Synths Pico System II is the world's smallest modular synthesizer.

In its functionality this system is as good as the Pico System I, however, as there have been several additions to the Pico Series, for example, the significant Pico Voice, we decided to upgrade the Pico System to make it even more multifarious. There are two new modules in the system: the Pico Voice - a sound source, which gives quite a big timbral diversity, and the Pico Modulator, which replaces the Pico EG and the Pico VCA. That gives us a 3HP free space which we have filled with one more Pico A MIX for more handy control of the sound sources in live performances. Pico System II comes with external PSU, Pico Drum Programmer, wrench key and 20 patch cables.

Pico modules included in the system are:

SEQ - powerful 16 step sequencer with 16 pattern memory

VCO - 32 custom waves in 2 banks, great 1V/oct tracking and LFO mode

VOICE - sound source with 8 sound generation algorithms

VCF1 - Polivoks-inspired LP/BP VCF, ideal for acid-like basslines

TRIGG - 4 trigger pattern generator that also serves as a master clock for the system. Web-based pattern designer app allows user to upload own patterns

2xDRUMS - 64 sample player with 3 adjustable parameters and CV control over them. Web-based app and Pico Programmer (included) allows the user to upload their own sound samples

Erica Synths Syntrx Analogue Synthesiser (UK plug)
Cat: 750753 Rel: 16 Oct 20

Analogue synthesiser
Notes: Inspired by the legendary EMS Synthi AKS, this is easily one of Erica's most impressive releases to date. Proper experimental analogue brilliance developed in conjunction with Riga Technical University.

Supplier's Notes:
Since its beginnings Erica Synths has promoted experimental electronic music and has developed instruments that enable musicians to explore it.

When it comes to standalone instruments, one of the most encouraging instruments in experimental music was Synthi AKS, so Erica Synths have teamed up with engineers from Riga Technical University to develop a synthesizer with a user interface inspired by Synthi AKS.

SYNTRX [sintrex] is developed from scratch all analogue synthesizer (no part of schematics is cloned from Synthi AKS) with digitally controlled patch matrix. Unlike most of patch matrixes around, that mechanically connect signals, our 16x16 matrix utilizes 32 (!!!) 16 channel analogue switch ICs AS16M1 (made in Latvia, Alfa RPAR) and is a mixer/buffered multiple with 3 level attenuation (gain 1, 0,6 and 0,3) in connection points. It has 256 patch memory, automatic patch switching in performance mode or via MIDI messages.

SYNTRX has 3 highly accurate VCOs that track great over 8 octaves, noise generator with "colour" filter, resonant VCF, ring modulator, spring reverb, looping envelope generator, joystick controller, input amplifier with adjustable gain for microphone to line level signals, 3 VCAs, output signal filter, analogue CV/audio signal level indicator and built in speakers. Extra features, not found on Synthi AKS, are Sample & Hold circuit with individual clock, octave switch for VCO1, synchronization of VCO2, AD mode on the envelope generator, as well as MIDI that accepts CV, Gate, Modulation wheel messages and program change messages for the matrix control. The SYNTRX comes in aluminium enclosure with ash tree side panels.

SYNTRX will inspire users to explore the space and travel to previously undiscovered audible realms.

Korg Wavestate Wave Sequencing Digital Synthesiser
Cat: 761104 Rel: 16 Apr 20

digital synthesiser
Notes: Loosely inspired by the brand's classic Wavestation synth, the Wavestate updates the sound with a new approach to Wave Sequencing. Classy sound, powerful modulation and good hands-on performance options.

Supplier's notes:

KORG's legendary Wavestation introduced the world to Wave Sequencing, transforming raw samples into sounds that no-one had ever heard before. The flagship OASYS and KRONOS keyboards developed Wave Sequencing even further, expanding on its unique palette of lush, evolving pads and driving rhythms.

Now, KORG is proud to announce the next step in digital synthesis: the wavestate. Featuring the radically re-imagined Wave Sequencing 2.0, the wavestate delivers astonishing, ever-changing sounds with extensive hands-on control.

Far from a nostalgic reissue, the wavestate is designed from the ground up for a new generation of musicians, producers, and composers, taking cues from sources as diverse as modular synths, groove boxes, and algorithmic composition. The compact form-factor, with 37 full-size keys, transports easily and fits neatly into any stage, studio, or desktop setup.

With the Wavestation, each step of a Wave Sequence had a duration, a sample, and a pitch. This created ear-catching patterns-but the patterns repeated the same way, over and over. What if they could evolve in organic, unexpected ways, instead of just repeating?

Wave Sequencing 2.0 splits apart the timing, the sequence of samples, and the melody, so that each can be manipulated independently. Also added are new characteristics including shapes, gate times, and step sequencer values. Each of these is a "Lane," and each Lane can have a different number of steps and its own start, end, and loop points.

Every time the sequence moves forward, the individual Lanes are combined to create the output. For instance, a sample may be matched with a different duration, pitch, shape, gate length, and step sequence value every time that it plays. You can modulate each Lane's start, end, and loop points separately for every note, using velocity, LFOs, envelopes, Mod Knobs, or other controllers. Each note in a chord can be playing something different!

Lanes can also randomize the step order every time they play, with realtime control over the range of included steps. Finally, individual steps can be randomly skipped, with a modulatable probability from 0 to 100%. The result is organic, ever-changing sounds that respond to your control. The four onboard arpeggiators can interact with Wave Sequences for even more possibilities.

With all of that synthesis power, you might think the wavestate would play only one sound at a time. Not a chance. For even more rich and complex results, layer up to four Programs together in a Performance-each with their own effects and arpeggiator. The Vector Envelope and Joystick mix the individual voices of the four Layers, and can also modulate any other parameters.

Bursting with knobs and controllers, the wavestate invites you to explore. All of the basics-filter, envelopes, LFOs, effects-are at your fingertips with dedicated front-panel controls. Eight programmable Mod Knobs are customized to bring out the most in every sound, often taking them in entirely new directions. Use the knobs in realtime performance, and also save the results as new sounds. Add in the Pitch Bend and Modulation Wheels and the unique Vector Joystick, and you'll always have multiple dimensions of realtime expression.

Want to dig deeper? Almost all front-panel knobs, and most on-screen parameters, can be modulated. You can even modulate settings for individual Wave Sequence Steps! Mod Processors let you transform modulation signals using quantization, smoothing, curvature, and more.

Looking for even more inspiration? A dedicated front-panel button, marked by a "dice" icon, generates new sounds via intelligent randomization. Randomize the entire sound or just a part of it, such as the filter, the Sample Lane, or the effects. Use the results directly, or as a jumping-off point for your own creations.

The wavestate's superb effects deliver production-ready sounds. Each Layer has three dedicated effects; additionally, the Performance has a master reverb and parametric EQ. Along with standards such as compressors, EQs, choruses, flangers, phasers, and stereo delays, you'll find distinctive processors such as the Wave Shaper, Talking Modulator, Reverse Delay, Multiband Mod Delay, and Overb (from the OASYS), plus modeled effects including VOX guitar amps, VOX wah, multi-head tape echo, and a collection of classic guitar pedals.

Set Lists offer effortless organization of your wavestate Performances, and deliver instant access at the gig or in rehearsal. Smooth Sound Transitions allow previously-played voices and effects to continue to ring out naturally, even once a new sound has been selected.

Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms SV-1B Blackbox Desktop Analogue Modular Synthesiser
Cat: 782214 Rel: 29 Jun 20

Desktop analogue modular snythesiser
Notes: Updated all-in-one desktop semi-modular system from the ever-reliable Pittsburgh Modular. Big, warm East Coast synth sound meets compact, Eurorack-compatible format. Very nice.

Supplier notes:
The Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms SV-1b Blackbox is a complete, standalone desktop format modular synthesizer. A full compliment of analog tools for sonic experimentation stuffed into a portable, powered steel enclosure. Two patchable oscillators and our legendary Pittsburgh Filter are paired with a perfectly curated set of synthesis tools. The Lifeforms SV-1b Blackbox provides absolutely everything you need to create gigantic and iconic synth sounds, in the studio or on the go.

The original Lifeforms SV-1 eurorack format synthesizer module is legendary for its deep, analog sounds capable of pumping out everything from roaring bass and cutting leads to absolute chaos. The SV-1b shares this same bold, powerful core while fine tuning the details. We have made a countless number of small tweaks and adjustments to the original SV-1 synthesis engine to improve the stability and functionality of the SV-1b. The sound is what matters, and this is still the East Coast analog monster to beat.

From the custom designed oscillator core to the iconic sound of the Pittsburgh Filter, the SV-1b showcases the true power of analog synthesis. The oscillator core used in the SV-1b was developed by Michael Johnsen and Richard Nicol to pair the visceral size and depth of vintage oscillators with the tracking and stability needed by modern instruments. The result is a palate of waveforms tuned to perfection with proprietary analog designs and countless listening tests. The Pittsburgh Filter is the heart of the SV-1b. The first collaboration between Michael and Richard, it defines the sound of Pittsburgh. Buttery smooth, the filter adds a depth and weight to waveforms so it never sounds dull. Michael's liquid resonance circuit allows the Pittsburgh Filter to overdrive smoothly and never lose the bottom end regardless of how high you turn up the resonance. Everywhere is a sweet spot.

The MIDI to CV converter enables you to connect all your MIDI-compatible gear and convert it to control voltage right inside the SV-1b. Volt per octave, gate, CC, and velocity outputs allow you to connect to your MIDI keyboard or DAW while a digital LFO with sine, triangle, square, and quantized random voltage waveforms provides clock sync'd modulation options. A clock input allows you to override the internal or MIDI clock and sync to external CV and gate clock signals. The built-in arpeggiator unlocks another level of playability and the capacity to create complex and fresh musical patterns out of just a few notes.

The custom core, dual analog oscillators provide the sonic framework for massive synth sounds and a deep exploration of east coast synthesis. Sine, triangle, saw, and square waves are at your control, all available to modulate via FM and hard sync. Oscillator One also contains our unique blade wave. The shifting saw-like shape of the blade wave can be controlled using the width CV input, creating a sweeping or chorusing effect. Oscillator Two is normaled to the FM of Oscillator One, providing jaw-dropping analog FM bass, deep percussive hits, searing leads, and thick, warm analog pads which all come to life from these two Pittsburgh designed, organic sounding oscillators. Both analog oscillators dip well below audio rate, allowing them to function as voltage controllable LFOs.

A utility LFO with triangle and square wave outputs is ideal for VCA or Filter frequency sweeps. Or, turn it up and release the dynamic FM capabilities of either oscillator. A Tools section provides access to two sub-octave oscillators, derived from Oscillator One's core frequency. Analog noise and sample & hold finish out the Tools section.

This versatile four channel mixer comes pre-wired for fast access to Oscillator One's sine, saw, pulse and sub. However, you are just a patch cable away from instantly making your own unique blend of waveforms from the SV-1b. The mixer can also be split into two independent two channel mixers for maximum patching flexibility.

Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms SV-1B Eurorack Analog Synthesiser Module
Cat: 782211 Rel: 07 Jul 20

Eurorack analog synthesiser module
Notes: One of our favourite entry points into the world of patchable semi-modular synthesis and a great starting point for anyone wanting to dip their toes into the waters of full modular. Great sound, great usability.

Supplier's Notes:

The original Lifeforms SV-1 eurorack format synthesizer module is legendary for its deep, analog sounds capable of pumping out everything from roaring bass and cutting leads to absolute chaos. The SV-1b shares this same bold, powerful core while fine tuning the details. The SV-1b is not a semi-modular synthesizer with limited signal path options. Each module within the SV-1b can be used independently to the rest of the system. The SV-1b is pre-patched (normaled) internally so patch cables are not necessary to get started. But as soon as you begin patching, you will appreciate the unrestricted creativity of the 53 patch points and 21 knobs. By breaking each module of the SV-1b out with patch cables, a tremendous amount of flexibility and control emerges to patch up any sound your imagination can dream up.

Smooth and thick, the sound of the revered Pittsburgh Modular Filter is unmistakable. Stunning harmonic character with voltage control over the entire frequency range. A provided attenuverter lets you dial in exactly how much CV to feed the frequency input, even inverting the input for dramatic changes in modulation. Separate highpass, lowpass, and bandpass outputs are provided as breakout options, each with their own powerful sonic timbres. Turn up the resonance for an added growl, giving your tones an aggressive edge that no softsynth can match.

Soma Laboratory Lyra-8 Organismic Analogue Synthesiser (black)
Cat: 781120 Rel: 08 Jul 20

Analogue synthesiser
Notes: Brilliantly unusual synth based on eight analogue tone generators, functioning more like an electric organ or FM synth than a conventional subtractive architecture. Unique sound.

Supplier notes:
Welcome to the world of sound of LYRA-8, the unique organismic analogue synthesizer designed by Vlad Kreimer. "Organismic" means that LYRA uses some principles that lie in the base of living organisms. The way how LYRA's modules interacting between each other and the behaviour of the instrument resembles a live conversation.

LYRA-8 is based on eight generators, which will be referred to as voices. Their design is not like a traditional subtractive synthesis VCO. Instead of having a linear or logarithmic dependency on control voltage, they resemble the tone generators in old electric organs. Hence the use of the term "voices" instead of VCOs. Lyra uses non-linearity a lot, and the voices are constructed in such a way that allows for non-linearity to express itself.

The voices are divided into four pairs (12, 34, 56, 78). All the pairs are divided in two groups, with two pairs in each (1234, 5678), creating tree-like structure.

The voices can function either in an electric organ mode or in an FM synthesis mode with each of the voices and its envelope acting as a separate FM operator. The voice's impact on FM synthesis will decrease along with the decay of its envelope.

LYRA-8 also has the next blocks:

The HYPER LFO is a complex low-frequency generator, whose waveform is synthesized from two simple LFOs by summation or multiplication of their frequencies. It also has a sync mode. The LFO can modulate the selected pairs of voices and the MOD DELAY.

The MOD DELAY consists of two lines of delay with cross-feedback and a special architecture that enables resonance between the two lines. Each line's delay time can be individually modulated from various sources, including external ones. The delay has a unique possibility of self-modulation where the output signal modulates the delay sample rate, creating cool effects.

The DISTORTION is last in the chain, after the delay. It enables the delay to also influence the distortion.

For all its experimental character, LYRA is a professional instrument. Its output dynamics and frequency response are balanced and ready for a live performance or studio recording without any additional processing.

The DISTORTION is last in the chain, after the delay. It enables the delay to also influence the distortion.

For all its experimental character, LYRA is a professional instrument. Its output dynamics and frequency response are balanced and ready for a live performance or studio recording without any additional processing.

Sound Machines BI1 Brainterface (Desktop)
Sound Machines BI1 Brainterface (Desktop) (brainwave to synthesiser interface module)
Cat: 777372 Rel: 07 Aug 20

Brainwave to synthesiser interface module
Notes: Soundmachines BI1brainterface is an exploration and performance tool for musician, producers, actors, body performers and coreographers who wants to connect their mental and emotional sphere directly with the performance.

The BI1 doesn't require the use of a computer, and brings immediacy and easy of operation in this upcoming technology.

By stressing the capabilities of the Neurosky MindWave Mobile headset, the BI1brainterface is developed to connect your mental status to your gear, in the most easy and open way possible.

Whenever you have an analog modular synthesizer or a MIDI sound generator, you can influence on sounds, sequences, timbres and drive the performance with an added controller, the most sophisticated: you.

Attention and Meditation are the most 'robust' and repeatable variables that you can count on. But also the EEG power spectrum bands (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta and Theta) are available to control other eight sound/light/video characteristics. As a bonus, the toolbox has a variable threshold to generate a 'trigger' based on your facial muscular activities (i.e. blinking or grin).

In the studio or in a live environment, weared by a dancer or an actor on stage, or just use it to relax yourself and raise your self-consciousness about focus, relax and meditation.

Bio feedback is another field of operation for the BI1brainterface, reaching applications such as the several described above and more.

Waldorf Iridium 16 Voice Digital Polyphonic Synthesiser (B-STOCK)
Cat: 808995 Rel: 07 Jul 20

B-STOCK: Slight surface marks
Notes: ***B-STOCK: Slight surface marks ***

Tracing the footsteps of its bigger brother, Iridium features all the synthesis elements of Quantum as well in a rack-compatible format. The combination of the powerful engine, incredible flexibility and detailed sound shaping facilities creates sheer endless possibilities of sound. Yet, the comprehensive layout and easy-to-understand structure lets you design your own sounds in no time. Sporting a solid metal casing and the same high level of craftsmanship like Quantum, Iridium is now ready to take over studios and stages throughout the world.

Contributing another entry in Waldorf's rich history, Iridium joins the family as a direct descendant of the PPG Wave. Though, Iridium offers much more than its ancestor. Five different synthesis models are provided by Iridium for each of the three oscillators:

Wavetable
Waveform (Virtual Analog)
Particle (Sampling and Granular Sampling)
Resonator
Kernels

Kernel mode has been introduced with the OS 2.0 of Quantum. This huge upgrade allows one oscillator to be turned into up to six sub oscillators. These can be interlinked through FM at audio rate and arranged in user-definable constellations. Just this upgrade alone would have provided enough additional features to create a synthesizer on its own. Now, all those functions have been integrated into Iridium as well.

Up to 7000 patches can be saved in Iridium. Patches from Quantum can be loaded in Iridium and vice-versa.

Iridium features three digital filters per voice. Two in the Dual Filter section and another one in the Digital Former. Several types are available to choose from:

12 or 24dB and Lowpass/Highpass/Bandpass with optional saturation or dirtiness.
Various filter models are available including those from Waldorf Nave, Largo and PPG 3V.
The Dual Filter section can be controlled independently or together in several different link modes.
The Digital Former offers all the filter types and models from the Dual Filter plus unusual models like Comb, Drive, Bitcrusher and more in addition.

All filters retain a true stereo signal throughout the entire structure of the instrument.

Up and down, back and forth
6 Envelopes, 6 LFOs and many more are just waiting for being used as sources in the 40 slots of the Modulation Matrix. Each slot has one additional control amount. Modulations can be directed to almost every numerical value in Iridium. All sources and destinations can be used as many times as desired until the Modulation Matrix is full. If you ever happen to run out of LFOs or Envelopes, you can use the Komplex Modulator for generating a custom shape LFO or Envelope.

Even though Iridium features a staggering amount of parameters to control, everything is organized in a logic structure which is easy to master. The major controls have their own dedicated knob, while the rest is accessible through the touch screen and the encoders around. There are no long menus keeping you from doing what you had planned. Instead, you will find a workflow which you will soon miss on other synthesizers.

Embedded in the front panel, a 4x4 silicon pad matrix invites you to launch notes, chords, arpeggios and sequences with up to 32 steps for notes and multiple parameter lines. Direct access to the parameters is granted by the seven encoders to the left and the right hand side of the touch screen.

Iridium's large color touch screen keeps you informed at all times. Upon moving a knob, Iridium gives you an optical feedback of your changes in real-time. Filter curves move, Particle grain sizes change, Envelopes warp and much more:

Komplex Modulator curves can be drawn with your finger
Envelopes show at which point the voices currently are
Wavetables are displayed in comprehensive view modes
VU meters show which voices are used and the individual voice levels
Different Analyzers show the audio signal at different points

Two Audio Outputs allow you to listen to Iridium, while two Inputs allow Iridium to process external signals. 4 CV inputs plus Gate In and Trigger In are ready to forward external signals to the Mod Matrix. Furthermore, Clock In and Clock Out will get your gear in sync. MIDI connections can be made through USB and DIN MIDI. Iridium is also equipped with a USB Host port for MIDI devices. This port also handles data exchange, in addition to the MicroSD card slot.

Once again, Waldorf have underlined their status with a new and exciting synthesizer.

Waldorf STVC String Synthesizer & Vocoder
Cat: 675800 Rel: 16 Jan 20

Desktop synthesiser featuring a 49-note keyboard & vocoding features
Notes: Gorgeous retro-inspired synth. Heavily based on 70s string synthesisers and vocoders, updated in a modern format. Proper lush vibes.

Supplier's notes:
The string section starts with an oscillator bank using octave dividers, followed by a complex mixer, an equalizer and the ensemble effect, just like string machines from the 70's. A single registration knob sweeps through mixer and EQ settings for Violin, Viola, Cello, Brass, Organ, Choir and more for creating rich and creamy sonic textures.

The Solo section is a 16-voice synthesizer that complements the string sounds. A single Tone knob sweeps through many useful settings. Solo is the sidekick to the strings, but it is powerful enough to be the lead character every now and then.

The Vocoder replaces the equalizer in the string section with the filter bank that models the vocal tract from the speech input. This can produce quite intelligible speech or singing using the fully polyphonic oscillator bank. Formants can be modified, which can result in a perceived change of gender. Adjustable jitter of the string oscillators renders the voice hoarse, creaky or a complete whisper. Solo can pass through the Vocoder or play in parallel.

The Freeze button lets you freeze a short speech fragment, which is then repeated by the Vocoder whenever a key is pressed. Change of playback speed, like faster, backwards or a complete stop are possible and fun, as well as formant change.

A novel Tweak function allows for modification or modulation of details, like e.g. the solo cut-off frequency or the Chorus LFO rate. It is similar to a modulation matrix, but it also allows to alter implicit settings with a fixed value or an offset.

Three Effects operate simultaneously - Animate is in fact a modulation of the string or vocoder registration, while a Phaser is a must for any decent string machine. A high-quality Reverb with adjustable size can be mixed to the output.

STVC comes with a high-quality gooseneck microphone that plugs right into the front panel where it belongs.
