Fletcher & Steve O’Sullivan - "Flutter"
Fletcher - "From A Different Place"
Fletcher - "This Day Has Been Too"
Review: Fletcher heads up the Social Currency label but you may also know him from his superb work with Mosaic boss Steve O'Sullivan. It's no wonder then that he calls up his dub techno buddy for the second outing here. They kick off with 'Flutter' which is a minimal dub masterpiece with light and airy synths, yep, fluttering up top above rooted, rolling drums. Fletcher then goes it alone for 'From A Different Place' which is a little more anxious in its loops but still has gorgeous melodies streaming through the mix. 'This Day Has Been Too' is another fine solo cut that explores insular and inward moods with great deftness.

Review: Sindh's self-titled label kicks on with a third volume in his Komudo Series and again focuses on "mind and body movement." Across four tracks, Sindh looks to merge minimalism with rhythmic invention, starting with the rugged 'Psi' with its thudding kicks and moody synths. 'Fluid' then brings more lithe, urgent rhythms with deft sound designs adding a futuristic edge and 'Interstate' then brings more raw texture and tension with heavy drones and paranoid spoken words that pan about the mix. 'Resin' shuts down with a nice tight blend of kicks and hits that is easy to latch onto and get lost in. Play it loud.

Waves
Review: Sunday down-toolings with Challenger Deep's Swiss favourite Luss, offering another slow-cooked 12" plumbing the dub genre's deepest trenches. The Challenger Deep operating base is still mysterious to us, and for all we know - and for all we hear - we could easily believe their HQ/packing house could be an underwater station on the abyssal plane. 'Natural Nature' collapses the old Darwinian binary with tube-shot, bubbly deep dubstep sound design and perimetric beats precision. 'Waves' clambers ashore, after a well-rested gangplank walk, to find deeper ricochets and molluscan shapes in the clouds.

Denihilism
Review: Jamie McCue is the man behind the Canadian label Silent Season and his newest concern, Moon Garden is fast becoming just as vital. This fantastic fourth outing comes from Transient Vessels, who McCue describes as "a local artist and good friend of mine." Opener 'Another Day' is a slow-motion motion dubbed-out melon twister that echoes the early Leftfield sound and is detailed with both textured synth leads and more introspective chords. 'Denihilism' is just as slow motion but deeply absorbing with plenty of wide open space for the pads to linger and the drums to churn and hypnotise.

Floorplan - "Eternal Life" (mix 2)
Robert Hood - "God Flow"
Robert Hood - "The Throne"
Review: This new joint EP from Robert Hood and his Floorplan project with daughter Lyric showcases two distinct yet complementary visions of techno. Side-A is all about Floorplan's vibrant, gospel-infused house style. 'Eternal Life' bursts out of the gate with a joyful piano-led groove and an infectious energy that commands the dancefloor. The second mix strips things down into a dub-style version, dialing back the melody to let the rhythm section breathe. The track is groovier, more restrained, but still driving. Flip to Side-B and you're in classic Robert Hood territory. 'God Flow' is a streamlined, melodic burner that is direct and tightly wound. It builds with precision, its crisp rhythm and subtle synth work echoing Detroit's minimal legacy. 'The Throne' follows with a nod to Hood's Underground Resistance roots. It's raw and punishing in the best way: stripped-down techno that relies on timing and repetition. Together, the EP is a great look into both projects and their direction.

Review: Peter Ivanyi is Ghost Warrior, and it's an apt name for a producer who operates in the shadows between several drum & bass sub styles. His sophisticated sound designs and impeccable rhythms have taken him to the likes of 31 Records, re:st and The Collection Artaud but here he lands on regular home Well Street. 'Black Box' pairs deft drum programming with jazzy cymbals and blasts of textured bass, and 'REM' is then backlit with a celestial synth glow. A Josi Devil remix brings some low-end hustle and bustle and 'Dream Transmission' is a minimal stepper with an eerie deep space edge and absorbing sense of late-night tension.

Review: Ohm Series has long since hit its stride but this 14th outing may well be its best yet with a top-tier mix of names on board, all curated by label boss Bjarnar Jonsson aka OHM. The great Bluetrain opens with 'Still Shifting', which is a typically smooth and sub-aquatic dub techno sound that's deep but dynamic and marbled with deft hi hats. Fletcher's 'Holy Ghost' is a gorgeously suspenseful dub soundscape, then on the flip Rai Scott gets a little more pronounced with his grooves on 'Inside The Mind Of A Nebula,' which is defined by a nagging sense of unease. Anthony Georges Patrice's' See The Sun' is a zoned out 6 am gem for when the sun begins to peak through the curtains.

Review: Dublin-born, now Manchester-based, Krystal Klear returns to Running Back with six club tools steeped in nostalgic shimmer and functional bite. Known for his arpeggiated anthems and deep-dive devotion to the dancefloor, this batch hits a familiar sweet spot-melodic, muscular, and tinged with longing. 'Pancake' sets the tone with glassy synths and driving drums, while 'Hammeroid' and 'Detol Samba' veer into tougher, trippier terrain with twitchy percussion and ravey chord stabs. The italo-flavoured 'Offenbach' glows with bittersweet pads, before 'Deathlagg' and 'Celtic Samba' close in more dramatic fashion-euphoric, strange and full of motion. These aren't reinventing the formula, but they don't need to. It's dance music for dancers: unpretentious, dialled-in, and built to last until the lights come on.

Review: New York house stalwarts Victor Calderone and Mykol team up for a heavyweight double-header on Nervous Records, drawing on decades of club heritage with two cuts that balance toughness with soul. On ‘What You Want’, the unmistakable Byron Stingily delivers a spoken-word vocal full of presence and tension, riding a thick groove of driving drums and brooding synth stabs. The dub strips things back into a leaner, club-focused roller, layering sharp FX over its pulsing low-end. Flip to ‘Take You Back’ and the tone shifts—gliding synths and sultry female vocals swirl through the mix, giving the track a hazy, after-hours sensuality. It’s a slick contrast to the A-side’s weight, showcasing the duo’s versatility and deep roots in New York’s late-night lineage.

Review: Waage is at the heart of the contemporary dub techno scene and makes another fine statement with this outing on Icelandic titan Exos's X/OZ Music. This is his fourth outing and it could be his best: 'W9' rolls with great depth and grainy dub textures that speak of a subterranean world. 'W10' is more dark and heavy like it's soundtracking a dirty factory after dark. 'W11 (feat Cold)' layers in some psychedelic swirls to frictionless beats that could roll for days and never get old. 'W12 (feat Exos)' is lighter and more airy with a playful bounce in the drums.

Review: Italian techno auteurs Luigi Tozzi and Antonio Ruscito join forces for a potent four-track session of mid-tempo, deep techno pressure, their first collaborative outing on the ever-reliable Dutch imprint ARTS. Across the EP, the pair navigate shadowy rhythmic terrain and immersive atmospheres with a tightly focused sense of control and restraint. Opener 'Heat' sets the pace with a slow-burning chug, propelled by shuffling percussion and lysergic acid filigree that weaves in and out of the mix like smoke. 'Cube' follows with colder, more ominous energyisquelching acid pulses that ride atop a cavernous low-end and ghosted vocal fragments, building a menacing tension. On the flip, 'Closer' dials down the intensity for a brooding, emotive drift, where glacial tempos and misty synth washes conjure a deep introspective mood. Closing cut 'Alodrone' opens in ambient mode, unfurling a widescreen drone before detonating into heavyweight kicks, primed to open your next set.

Title cut 'Passive Aggressive' opens with a loopy mental workout that is underpinned by nice dubby low ends. Truncate remixes and layers in some icy, fizzy pads and pressured drum grooves, then 'Remote Viewing' brings some uneasy peak time anxiousness with its wonky lines and prickly synths. It remains an evergreen favourite almost 30 years on, which is why Damon Wild's Synewave is reissuing it here. The A-side is gloppy, dubby techno with impish percussion darting about the mix and drunken hits bring an off-kilter edge. On the flip, 'SW37B' is stripped back to pure deep techno serenity with deft ambient pads and a sense of unrelenting meditation that locks you in the here and now.

A seriously talented artist and shaper of off-kilter sonics, Jimmy works his alchemy in all the right places on this impressive collection of creations. The outcome, 'Silvene', is a selene four-tracker indicating the strengths of each producer that nonetheless doesn't dare blur the other's fingerprints. Dense, pressure-driven techno is the backbone here, but the record doesn't stay in one gear: there's a deliberate tension between function and experimentation running through 'Silvene', which is fed through a hard-numbered four-way splitter and results in drastically different outcomes; mission-impossible urgencies on '02', unbreathable rollicks on '04'.

Review: Berlin-based Buttechno has reputation for being one of techno's hardest hitters, but this EP of 'X-berg dubs' is as much about the tease as the impact. 'Tech March' opens proceedings, ruthlessly combining the kind of low end thump beloved by Autechre and LFO with snaking, junglist frills, making it dark and brooding but also irresistibly danceable all at the same time. 'Dub 22' gives us his unique take on dub techno, speedier and flightier than the genre's usual template and much more rhythmically embellished too. 'Hypno Dub' is similarly way uptempo but lithe and light, murky stabs poking through the filters, before 'Grey Dungeons' goes full on old skool junglisms, like an early Ram or classic Moving Shadow affair from the early 90s, all voodoo vocals and tense, splintered snares. Dub be good to us.

Review: Sub Basics' newest proposal 'Time Codes' hears the Kent DJ and producer find ample energy in the toothy topline: "sometimes you hear a sound which ruins you". The misophony that follows is a ruinous one indeed, with the iconoclastic 'Vacuum' leaving little room to breathe, and 'Plasma' further sucking all the red blood cells from our already rather vitrified ear veins, leaving behind an empty blood techno matrix. 'Anomaly' adds breaks to the B with a ruffly, featherweight detour, while 'Field' snaps back to depth, embiggening the raver's soul with syntonic, tightly harmonised chords.

Review: Rotterdam rottens Planet Rhythm invite the so far geographically enigmatic producer Flits for their second EP on the label and their fifth record overall, continuing the theme of wayward excursions through monochrome cyberscapes as seen on the front cover of both 'On The Edge' and 'First Contact' (also 2025). Piping, sulphurous techno is the order of the moment just as it was with the the other 12" from 2025; we hear rowelled PWMs, designer percussions and subtle bleeps telecommuning in tandem on our favourites 'Winter', 'Properly' and 'Rendez Vous'. Serious, bitty techno from the internationally focused artist.

Review: Next-gen Romanian artist Costin RP is gaining serious traction via labels like Bleu Ciel, What You Want, Minimmal Movement, Pleasure Zone, Cardinal and Pressure Traxx. He here returns with a new single on the fervid Rawax, run by distributor DBH; the release dives intrepidly into Romanian minimal, 'Take A Trip With ME' and 'Sound Crafted On Earth' offering a masterclass in restraint and hypnotic pacing, having been tightly constructed to pull dancers into the depths.

Own Amusement
Review: First came 'Art Of Remembering' (2024) and we've now 'Petals', both full-scale techno blossomings from art-techno artiste, Rethe. A texturally attentive six-tracker, it finds the Wroclaw producer flex both his chord stab, atmos and transitional chops, lavishing pyschokinetic one-shots ('Poltergeist') and unwieldy transitions ('Drakkar') with a thick 4x4 gesso. 'Own Amusement' rounds things out on a highly unusual fusion, somewhere between acid jazz and and technodrome pummel, with a starkly electric piano solo garnished on top and throughout.

Molly Pop (with Lifka)
Review: Paris-based duo Blame The Mono return to Molekul with four genre-mutating techno workouts that double down on their signature blend of rave maximalism and left-field flair. ‘Podgorica’ opens with squelching acid lines and breakbeat pressure, recalling the raw intensity of early 2000s bunker sets. ‘Flip The Phase’ veers off-script entirely, pairing stuttering dub chords and chopped vox with a sudden jungle break that detonates mid-track. ‘Digital Diva’ rides a looping 80s vocal over a dense, dubby groove—equal parts playful and pummelling. Closing cut ‘Molly Pop’, a collaboration with German producer Lifka, leans into psy-tinged intensity, fusing peak-time power with a cheeky, rave-brained energy. Fun, fearless, and bristling with attitude, it’s a release built for high-pressure moments and DJs unafraid to swerve.

Review: Lisbon's Vil (Nuno Costa) and Cravo (Pedro Cravo) have enjoyed great respective careers so far, their joint name mostly saliently remaindered in the 32nd Klockworks release from 2021. Now comes their third arm-in-arm outing for the similarly conceived Self Reflektion series, hot on the heels of Cravo's 18th addition to the same. Two collaborative tracks and one original contribution each: clysms of booty bass abound on 'Feedback Bass', richter scales overclock on the acid-swung 'Pano Pa Mangas', and display cases shatter on the seventh techno plain 'Pampa'.

Individuality EP
Cat: SPLX 010. Rel: 07 Jul 25
Review: Tunisian producer Ahmet Mecnun makes a sharp debut on Superlux, threading breakbeats, minimal house and subtle electro into four tightly coiled club tracks. 'Individuality' kicks things off with glassy pads and swung percussion, gradually layering microgrooves into a weightless, rolling structure. 'Raphael Is Here' carries a slightly murkier tone, with loopy bass and distant bleeps curling under the surface. On the flip, 'Limon Ghost' leans more percussive-punchy, nimble, and full of flickering detail-while 'Ryodan' closes with a swung, off-kilter rhythm that leans closer to broken beat. It's a confident, detailed statement that fits neatly into Superlux's evolving catalogue while adding a distinctive North African perspective to its palette.

Review: After a pair of 12" selectors' teasers, the full edition of Tectonic Sound stands poised to plot a new course for Pinch's long-running Bristol label, pulling a drawstring on a freshly foraged crock of producer talent alongside with cured and matured names from its past. The 24-tracker welcomes first-timers like Re:ni, Beatrice M., Yushh, Flora Yin Wong and Sicaria, as well as cornerstone figures such as 2562, Shed and Distance. Nearly all contributions were made with the label's DNA in mind: bass-led electronics working the fault line between dubstep, techno and broken rhythms. "More so than just the sound, the music is in tune with the real ethos of the early dubstep scene," says Pinch. "It's led by hearts really."

Review: Bogdan Ra kicks off his new Love Affair label with four banging cuts that nod to the 90s and bring plenty of authentic acid madness. 'Kick It Off' begins with a heavyweight bump, trippy synth motifs and rigid rhythms that make you jerk your body in an 80s Chicago style. 'After Acid Hours' is another full body workout with wiggly 303s adding the energy and 'Ough Yeah' then gets snappy and sweaty with its fractured vocals and strobe-lit moods. 'Beat Body' shuts down with a more slamming technoid energy and rugged acid. Four stylish, fresh and destructive sounds.

Review: Gal Perez is PRZ (and also Pluto Junkies, and the co-founder of Chateau Royal) and the German has put out a steady, quality stream of sounds since 2017. This outing on Helena Hauff's Return To Disorder is a twisted and acerbic collision of breaks, electro and UK rave. 'Cruising' has alarm sounds and blistering synth textures running through saw-tooth bass and big breaks. 'PIGMENTOR' is all acidic and chuggy while 'The Looper" is heads down, feet marching electro-techno. 'Good Bye' brings some electrified disco futurism to the party for a more colourful and outwardly expressive closer.
