100Hz - "Innocence" (8:47)
Saverio Celestri - "Vortex" (7:48)
Saverio Celestri - "Toxic" (6:59)
Review: Slow Life's latest audio missive draws together tracks from two different generations of techno producers. On the A-side, you'll find two cuts from veteran British pairing 100HZ, who put out their first material way back in 1989 (the rather good "Low Frequency Overload"). "New Spoon" is a fizzing techno jam blessed with clattering drum machine hits, jaunty bass, crisp funk samples and a meandering spoken word vocal, while "Innocence" is a denser, sub-bass fuelled trip into late night territory. On the flip, contemporary Italian-in-Berlin Saverio Celestri takes over, first serving up the strobe-friendly New Jersey garage-meets-Detroit techno charms of "Vortex", before charging off into space via the restless rhythms, intergalactic bleeps, heavy sub-bass and wavy chords of "Toxic".

2562 - "The Wind Up"
Shed - "With Bag & Baggage"
SBTRKT - "The Unspoken"
Review: Round two of Monkeytown's already essential series of Modeselektion twelve inches drops with a suitably stellar line up chosen by the German overseers of bass demonics, Modeselektor. 2562 crafts one of his heftier moments on the A Side with "The Wind Up" an ever swirling mass of not techno not dubstep pressure typified by kaleidoscopic vocal filters, reverberant drum programming and soaring, switching industrial tones. Ostgut Ton don Shed maintains the standard on the flip via the dusty askew percussive rattle of "With Bag & Baggage", a track that's imbued with the fizziest of heavily processed synth lines. Rounding things off in fine style is SBTRKT with "The Unspoken" dropping a menacingly arpeggiated bass wiggle over retro broken drum hits and abstract melodic shifts.

51717 - "Regard" (6:31)
Silent Servant - "Time In Body" (3:44)
Silent Servant - "Severed Union" (4:13)
Review: The sixth issue from Jealous God, and the first of what promises to be another year of intrigue for the label, pairs up visual director Juan Mendez with 51717, aka New York artist Lili Schulder. Any fans of Schulder's 51717 cassette for Opal Tapes or her Shadowlust collaboration with Svengalisghost will be excited by the prospect of some new music committed to wax and she's on wonderfully abstract form here. Listening to opening track "The Glove" is an experience similar to being slowly covered by a viscous liquid to the point of suffocation, with her barely audible spoken word delivery only adding to the sense of foreboding. Complementing this, 51717 provides two shorter but equally striking compositions with "Regard" especially chilling. It's a mood that seeps into the two Silent Servant productions with "Severed Union" ripe mixtape opener material. Do check the mix CD from Surface Tension pair Nihar Bahall & Jason Polastri too!

Promising/Youngster - "Arbey" (5:32)
Review: There's lots to get your teeth stuck into on this new and blistering collection of electro from Adepta Editions. And don't let the title fool you - it's not all accessible summer festival fare, in fact none of it is. It is all head down and serious tackle. 7053M4R14's '4 N3W HUM4N' is a driving, dark, visceral sound with raw breakbeats powering through the cosmos. Rec_Overflow offers a moment to catch your breath with some slower, dubby rhythms on 'Pocket Dial' and Pauk explores twitchy future synths capes and post-human transmissions on 'Shiawasena Fukushu'. Promising/Youngster shuts down with a sense of optimism and hope with the airy melodies and slithering electro drum patterns of 'Arbey.'

Review: Dub techno truly does sometimes sound like cosmic background radiation, with chromatic chordy pads droning away in the background, while clippy kicks and stabs break away like isotopes in decay. Such is the thought process behind Satoshi Tomile and Nao Gunji's new EP 'Radiant', which is a masterclass in minimal dub techno born from esoteric improvised electronic methods. Circuit-bent madness.

Review: Adding yet another record to the pile that has so far been provided by the label A_A, the experimental dub artists behind said outfit (Satoshi Tomiie and Nao Gunji) have really outdone themselves out here. On pink splatter vinyl comes 'Dissonant', one of many EPs to have emerged from the same heads-down studio session that saw to its predecessor, 'Radiant'. Tracks 1-4 lock in a slew of impressive ear-scourings and dub-delayed experimentations, with the first and last tracks particularly blowing us away with their broken beats, which allow for more attention to be paid to every undulation, crackle and knock.

Review: Artificial Owl Recordings welcomes aboard New Yorkers Satoshi Tomiie and Naotake Gunji for the label's fifth release; a recording of their collaborative A_A project and live show, which first came to light at the Fridman Gallery in Manhattan. A_A, an ongoing audio project, explores the visceral tension between floor-centric ambient electronica and improvised sound/audio performance. Here, found and object-activated sounds fire a collective dub trigger, producing a distinctly somatic regrounding across five original works.

Sean Dixon - "Our Love For Music" (5:57)
Review: The Innate label made a sizable impact with its first release - a killer various artists 12" with Mark Hand, Lerosa and others. Now it returns with another balanced mix of established and emergent artists, leading in with a stunning A side cut from A Sagittariun delivering what might be his most beautiful production to date - a swooning, snaking slice of melodious techno that brims with emotion and canny programming. After turning heads on the first Innate release, Gilbert returns with "Polynoid," a punchy, Lately bass-powered workout with lashings of Motor City soul heaped on top. Sean Dixon completes the package with "Our Love For Music," a pointed machine mantra that maintains the classic techno tone Innate is shaping up as its MO.

A1 People - "Do It" (Metamatics remix)

Silicon Scally - "Relay"

CiM - "Recursive"
Review: Since Zip and Villalobos made it one of their coveted deep digs to be heard pealing out of a thousand after hours sessions, the Metamatics remix of A1 People has been a teasingly out of reach dream grab for many a minimal electro head. Now Yossi Amoyal has done the good deed of getting the track remastered and repressed as part of his Fluere series toasting 15 years of Sushitech. As well as that masterclass of elegant machine funk, there's also Kosmogonik's mind-bendingly brilliant 'Circuitry', Silicon Scally's body-popping electro-noir 'Relay' and Matt Chester's melancholic 'November Pathways' to keep your up-all-night marathon sets peppered with spangled surprises.

Review: Always a good week when some new RAND Muzik drops. The Leipzig imprint's brand of understated grooves are on fine display once again on this various artists EP. On RM 12015, feel the low-slung and funky dub of A2's 'Open Your Mind' which they follow up with some moody computer funk on the next track 'Entity'. Over on the B side, Andy Panayi serves up some dusty 303 shenanigans on 'Acidbend' in the vein of classic Cabinet Records and closing it out is Stopouts with the subterranean breaks of 'Pass Go'.

You Gotta (7:11)

Techfest (8:26)
Suits You (6:29)
Review: For the first release on their freshly minted Euphoric State sub-label, London label OPIA has turned to '90s survivors A2 & Stopouts, a trio of producers who first made their name as British tech-house pioneers in the late 1990s. The four tracks showcased on "Go With The Flo" apparently date from this period, though this is the first time they've seen the light of day. There's much to admire throughout, from the rolling, funk-fuelled house grooves and intergalactic pads of opener "You Gotta", to the jacking tech-funk of closing cut "Suits You", via the glassy-eyed rush of "Techfest", where sci-fi motifs and dream house electronics rise above bumping beats and a deliciously squelchy bassline.

A2 - "Year 2010" (5:54)
A2 - "Waldawf" (6:25)
Stopouts - "Stopping Around" (6:12)
Review: Mass turns its attention to the cult OG tech house crew orbiting An Alien Recordings and names like A2 and Stopouts. There are a mixture of heads involved in these projects tracking back to the late 90s, amongst them the late Andy Panayi aka A2 and Rob Collman, Panayi's partner in Stopouts. You can instantly hear why some of these tracks would be coveted by the modern minimal and tech house crew, given the stripped back, deep-trucking quality to these tunes. 'No Streets Here' has a sultry, late morning mood, while 'Year 2010' more than delivers as a melodious acid workout with that unmistakable 90s flavour. It's the dubby delights of A2's 'Waldawf' which are the standout here, sporting a timeless quality which holds just as much weight in the current scene.

DAVE The Drummer & Phil Kershaw - "Bassline Sunset" (6:55)
Review: Hydraulix Records continues to push the boundaries of ravey techno with Va03, a four-track EP that transports listeners back to the early '90s warehouse scene with its infectious energy and relentless beats. Side 1 kicks off with Acerbic's 'Deep In Your Mind,' a heavy sci-fi pounder that channels the essence of early '90s techno rave vibes. With nods to the big Belgium sounds and a prominent Hoover sound, this track is an instant banger that commands attention on the dancefloor. Following suit, Minor Dott's 'What You Callin Acid' delivers a menacing and sinister atmosphere, characterized by its mechanical and demonic undertones. It's a track that exudes raw power and intensity, perfect for those craving an adrenaline-fueled sonic experience. On Side 2, Andreas Kraemer & Shadym team up to bring us 'Reflect,' a percussive and loopy journey through hardcore rave sounds. The track pulsates with energy, immersing listeners in a hypnotic groove that's impossible to resist. Finishing things are Dave The Drummer & Phil Kershaw's 'Bassline Sunset,' a big room rave techno anthem that hits all the right notes. With its infectious bassline and euphoric atmosphere, this track is destined to ignite dancefloors worldwide. Each track on this EP offers a unique sonic experience, making it a must-have for fans of the early 90s rave scene.

Review: To date, the Acid Arab Collections EPs and CD - compiled by the Paris-based producers behind the concept, Guido Minisky and Herve Carvalho (who DJ/produce under the Acid Arab alias) - have been little less than stunning. This third vinyl-only EP is of a similar standard. As usual, there's a strong focus on house and techno, with Middle Eastern instrumentation, vocals and samples atop. Highlights include the raw, heavy pump of Society of Silence's deliciously distorted "Baghdad", the spiraling, Brown Album-era Oribital style intoxication of An-I & Capablancas "Farsi Farce", and the ghostly horns and humid pulse of Gilb'r Beesan Rum's "A Song For Anna".

Review: BUILDINGS was born out of a creative merger between Detroit's 313 Acid Queen (Rebecca Goldberg) and Italian maestro Sickboy (Stefano Piseddu), their 4th and 2nd releases on Detroit Underground respectively. The duo have thoughtfully arranged a half dozen tracks inspired figuratively and literally by the landscape of Detroit. Working 7,000km and multiple time zones apart, having never met in person, their individual expressions intertwine in soundscapes reminiscent of techno's origin and exist in a way only capable in our present time. Devoted as ever to the roots of Detroit techno, Goldberg and Piseddu have built a magnificent album around the Detroit Map Series theme conceptualized by DU label founder Kero and designed by Neubau Berlin.

Review: Stop yourself in for another rugged ride through electro and techno from the vanguard here as Thisbe Recordings serves up a fifth fantastic slab of wax. It's a fine various artists affair that kicks off with Acid Washed and the legendary Arnaud Rebotini. Their 'Brandtaucher' is a polished metal and electro tinged disco cut with bleeping melodies. Seb El Zin then keeps it real raw with 'Lingua Minimalista' and the energy doesn't dip on Rambal Cochet's flip side opener 'Oseary Drakoulias' races to the star on slap funk bass and cruising melodies. Mount Kismet's 'Sirocco' rides on rugged arps and last of all Danton Eeprom's 'L'Homme Canon' slows right down to an electro-funk and boogie down workout.

Acidulant opens with "Serpentacid' featuring hypnotic 303 grooves and relentless energy, then Sarufaromeo & Papaverhof deliver 'Acid Nihonshu' which blends atmospheric depth with chaotic acid vibes. G303 takes you beyond with 'Live Long and Prosper,' an interstellar anthem filled with cosmic acid and resonant grooves. Paul Renard closes with 'SO36' which is all about the fat rhythms and powerful dancefloor drive. Long live acid is what we say.

AD\\HH - "Dead Hush"
AD\\SS - "Security Breach"
AD\\DC - "Sonic Erosion"
Review: By now you should be more than familiar with the concept central to the Brothers label, which has seen a succession of techno artists collaborating with like minded contemporaries. Mancunian techno brutalists AnD are the main players on this latest edition, swiftly following up that LP for Electric Deluxe with a 12" of joint productions featuring Headless Horseman, Sunil Sharpe and D Carbone. Though typically dystopian in sound, there's an element of restrain to the opening HH hookup "Dead Hush", whilst the nicely swung rhythms make a change from the relentless techno thud. On the flip Sunil Sharpe leads AnD down a mind bending acid wormhole on "Security Breach" whilst REPITCH artist D Carbone turns matters towards straight up warehouse techno on the finale "Sonic Erosion".

Transversal
Transversal (Sigha remix)
Transversal (Ventress remix)
Review: There's some po-faced minimalism to be found on the third offering from Avian. A debut appearance from AD/S heads straight for the monochrome thud of a pounding kick, offset by very delicate cicadas of percussion and just a faint whisper of melody. Sigha gets a cheeky soca kind of snare into the mix on his version, which creates a bizarre carnival techno flavour. That leaves it to Ventress to get slightly broken on his remix, breaking up that thudding kick and sprinkling some haunting magic in the shape of distant, forlorn pads, creating the most atmospheric cut on the 12".

Esteban Adame - "Guaguanco"
Esteban Adame - "Guaguanco" (Frequencia deconstruction)
Santiago Salazar - "October 17"
Santiago Salazar - "October 17" (dub mix)
Review: The latest release on DJ Bone's Subject Detroit label is a split 12" featuring Esteban Adame and Santiago Salazar. This is how they do techno, Californian style, and you can tell it from the off. The beats are tough as hell, but there's a sun-kissed vibrancy to the synth work that positively leaps out of the speakers and shakes your cerebellum. Adame leads on the A side with "Guaguanco", an effervescent stomper that takes a turn for the deep when Frequencia jumps on board for a remix. Salazar is in a housey frame of mind on "October 17", letting smooth pads lead the way without losing that all-important impact. The "Dub mix" of the track actually beefs things up with a grinding lead synth pitched at big room scenarios while maintaining a steady tempo.

Alessandro Adriani - "Death Moves" (5:12)
0 5W - "Aluco" (6:30)
Unit Moebius, Reverend Cor Gout & Salo Mentale - "Fietsenmaker" (12:28)
Review: Enter the World of Rubber. A new label endeavour from the hallowed Lowlands area of Den Haag surfaces in the shape of Rubber which launches with a most curious various artists 12". Alesandro Adriani is more commonly known for his curatorial skills at the head of Mannequin Records, but the Italian can clearly sequence a track on the basis of his opener "Death Move 1" which certainly sounds like he had the guttural sounds of The Hague in mind! Rubbing up alongside Adriani on the A-side is 0 5W, a Finnish techno project whose unpredictable "Aluco" will appeal to fans of the Borft label. Some Den Haag heritage lines the B-side as a slightly unnerving track from the mid-90s archives of Unit Moebius is given pride of place. We await further Rubber transmissions with interest!
