Review: New label Lumbago drop a new, tasty, hand-stamped house belter to soothe all of your winter blues, and it's clear that the imprint are very much here to stay. Instead of going for the glory-hunting, they've decided to release music from a selection of rising names, but from the sounds of "Inappropriate" by 100Hz, the quality factor is very much present. Even Octave's "Racing", a rough, analog house banger with an industrial edge, packs enough of a punch to make us wonder why we haven't been name-dropping him more often. Over on the flip, Nightdrivers member Rufus, who is often heard alongside Mass Prod, drops the supremely funky "Conseguenza", a disco-tinged house roller that's given the dub-house treatment by the increasingly present Cab Drivers. Excellent material, right here.

Review: Jersey's veterans 280 West make a big-time return to Phuture Soul with this powerful three-track EP of soulful, garagey vocal house. "I Never Knew" is classic Jersey, a big-time male vocal with some chunky drums and disco horns blasting away on the hypnotic, catchy soulful groove - the A-side "West" mix is a stormer for the clubs. Review: Brad Peterson and Rai Scott aka 2Deepsoul go limited edition and hand numbered for their white coloured 10" Earth Energy Part 1 EP on Spanish label Minuedo. Bubbling and acid toned squiggles dance upon staccato hi-hats and choral melodies in the upbeat and sweat sounding house cut "Serenade". Analogue warmth is ever present throughout the "The Silence of Winter", as hypnotic leads and LFO infected synths influence serenely sung vocals and top end EQ twiddles. A collector's must have.

Review: In celebration of their tenth birthday, Selador marks the occasion in style with a four-track collaborative EP, featuring tracks from 3D, Robert Owens, Olivier Giacomotto, Quivver, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Argia, and Jepe. The opening track, 'Known Love', is a deep, pulasting house tune that feels like an instant classic, perhaps thanks to the soulful, pop-tinged vocals - think LCD soundsystem meets Four Tet. 'Snailblazer', the second track on the EP, takes a much darker turn, with a chugging, EBM-esque feel. Full-bodied and complete with obscured vocals, this is the kind of track to pull out your bag when it's time to really get stuck in. On the B-side, 'Napkin Knowledge' draws on the glistening synths of eurodance, yet still securing the melodies to a grounded bassline and rhythm section. 'Salitre' is the perfect closing track, rising up in a gleaming, ecstatic melody, before delicately returning to ground level. A varied yet firmly cohesive collaborative release - the perfect way for Selador to kick off their 2023 catalogue.

Review: The Mindhelmet crew are working hard to whip up a strong identity around trippy strains of techno and house with a 90s flavour and a playful instinct. The fifth release on the label kicks off with 4D working some trancey analogue-isms around a stout beat, while Ramez has a slither of minimal electro informing some of the synth shapes on the celestially-charged 'Las Venus'. Label mainstay Josh Baker takes things deeper with the mysterious shimmer of 'Hot Pursuit', and then Arnic spreads out over the B side with the jacked up 'Fast Stepper' and a freaky vocal chop up called 'End Communication'.

Review: There's lots to get your teeth stuck into on this new and blistering collection of electro from Adepta Editions. And don't let the title fool you - it's not all accessible summer festival fare, in fact none of it is. It is all head down and serious tackle. 7053M4R14's '4 N3W HUM4N' is a driving, dark, visceral sound with raw breakbeats powering through the cosmos. Rec_Overflow offers a moment to catch your breath with some slower, dubby rhythms on 'Pocket Dial' and Pauk explores twitchy future synths capes and post-human transmissions on 'Shiawasena Fukushu'. Promising/Youngster shuts down with a sense of optimism and hope with the airy melodies and slithering electro drum patterns of 'Arbey.'
