Review: The Danza Nativa label is fresh off the back of a fine fifth birthday celebratory 2 part compilation but wastes no time getting back to business. Alderaan is the man in charge with his second for the label and 'Transition' kicks off with some mad LFO business melting your mind. Psyk remixes it into a more paired back and spooky subterranean techno prowler. With 'Vortex' there is yet more nocturnal menace with ticking hi-hats seeing rhythm as squelchy, unsettling sounds peel off the beats. 'Futurismo' closes down with a gurgling lead line and distant sci-fi sounds that complete this most futuristic EP.

Review: Danza Nativa is rightly celebrating its fifth anniversary recently and now follows up the first part of its anniversary compilation with part two, featuring tunes from across a broad spectrum. The first side delves into tribal rhythms and strident synths with Amandra keeping it stripped back and minimal and Dino Sabatini going deep and dubby on 'Danza Tribale'. Polygonia and Plants Army Revolver then set your mind free to wander among lush sound designs and captivating rhythms that head deep into a humid and futurist jungle.

Review: This third volume of instrumentals continues the faultless Isle of Jura label's deep dive into dub versions and beyond. Side one takes in references from UK street soul and reggae and features two late-'80s tracks by Howard Hill with machine-led rhythms, rudeboy reggae skank and soulful pads. Protek's 'I Love to Dance With You' is a proto-house gem featured in a Jura Soundsystem mix and here it gets a loving re-edit by The Nightlark. Side B includes an instrumental-driven track with spacey FX from The Cool Notes' and Ilija Rudman's 'Dub 4 Love' which is a knowing nod to acid house's golden era.

Review: Deep Inspiration Show Records is back with a second part of its Global Essence Sampler and it is another 12" that offers great nourishment for mind, body and soul. Barce from Spain featuring Roger Versey opens up with some slow but heavy house grovers awash with rugged synth loops. Dan Piu's 'Ocean' is an aquatic and dubby roller for bliss doit vibes, and Zarenzeit taps into dreamy old school Italo house on 'Heard Echoes.' The same three artists appear in the same order on the flip with three other originals which tap into deeper Detroit schools of house, Balearic and electro stylings.

Review: Colkin from Raw Soul and Mauke Club sets the tone on this new FUTUR compilation, which has been curated by Benedikt Meger with a spherical acid house meditation. Peter Seiler's track, a standout from the reissue of his debut album Flying Frames, features Sheryl Hackett's soulful vocals and merges song structure with jazz improvisation. Eoism from Pulse Drift, Undersound, and Inch By Inch delivers low-swung electro flavours perfect for sunset vibes while the B-side opens with Voertuig of Tonal Oceans and Cobra Club who presents a seriously raw acid jam followed by an experimental, jazzy piece, reminiscent of the 90s downtempo era. 'Eoism' closes things with a floating, futuristic banger, going to make a well rounded (in more ways than one) and ultimately very useful piece of vinyl.

Review: Drei Vinyl launched back in 2023 and has slowly but surely amassed a respectable catalogue of various artists' releases. This sixth outing is the most straight-up techno offering yet and it opens with one of Spain's finest in Eduardo De La Calle. 'Deva5Vyasa' is heady and otherworld loop techno perfection with synth daubs and conscious vocals peppering the rubbery kicks. DJ Shufflemaster brings more texture to the raw, percussive madness of 'Axiom' and Tensal layers up unsettling and anxious synth murmurs with rising drum tension on 'Thermal Cycler.' Pergo's 'Lume' is a brash, industrial closer full of urgency.

Review: Monologues boss Ben Gomori has served up plenty of edits of African classics for labels like Sterns Music and Analog Africa, and now presents four Afro-Caribbean reworks licensed from tastemakers in the scene, namely Mr. Bongo, Soundway Records and Analog Africa. He injects South African legend Marumo's 'Khomo Tsaka Deile Kae' with big beats, while Black Truth Band's 'Umbala' is paired back to a disco bumper. Emmanuel Kahe Et Jeanette Kemogne's 'Ye Medjuie' brings 1980s Cameroon funk and Peter Britto's lo-fi soca gem 'I Want Your Love' is beefed up for the club. Useful tools for sure.

Review: The Berlin-based 432HERTZ crew kicks on here with a new various artists 12" packed with electro heat. Rinaldo Makaj gets things underway with the serene grooves of 'Computational Universe', which has some of the nicest snares we've heard in some time. Rickie's 'Mesosphere' is a nice off balance sound with thumping kicks and melodic bass, then it's time to get sleazy and more than a little ghetto with the raw Electric City jam 'Escape From Reality.' Pumio Space brings a little colour and playfulness to closer 'Mario's Juice'.

Review: Edition 8 from Bread & Butter Recordings is another sophisticated outing into the world of minimal and tech house from four fine artists. Modebaku's 'Kindred' is the kinetic, waify, wispy opener that gets deep under your skin and Primarie then gets more zoned out on curious and nebulous pads on 'Euforie.' Techu's 'Storytelling' then rides on super warm and smooth-cruising beats with supple synths laced throughout. It is the sort of tune you want to hear as the sun peaks through the blinds at the afters, while Ted Amber's 'Snozeer' is another colourful and diffuse tech house charmer.

Review: REPRESS ALERT!: New York producer P-Sol has hit on a super effective formula for starting the party, stitching together a selection of familiar samples and hooks, adding some beautifully dusty breaks and adding a final sheen of shiny production skills. Both sides of this 7" have a touch of raw 'two turntables' action about them, while remaining impeccably constructed and tight, with the A-side 'This Way' proving to be the slightly speedier and slightly more funk/r&b-flavoured, while 'Breathe & Stop (Abstract Blend)' is the one for the pure hip-hop heads. Both, however, are dynamite in the box, needless to say.

Review: Goats In A Hypnotic State is one of those deep, moving explorations of ambient soundscapes that smudges together ethereal drones, field recording, and mesmerising synth textures. The three-track work evokes a sense of surreal calm as delicate melodies and subtle rhythms build hypnotic atmospheres and each piece unfolds slowly, with layers of sound intertwining to create a vast, meditative space. The organic sounds of nature, such as distant goat calls and wind, ground the work, while the synthetic elements elevate its dreamlike quality. Overall there is no way you can hear this and not be invited into a tranquil, introspective world where time and thought dissolve into the music itself.

Review: Man like Augustus Pablo is revered amongst true dub heads. His ability to lay down killer riddims was second to none back in the day and this one is a classic amongst many. 'Pablo In Red' rides on a tuff rhythm from the mid-seventies that was originally produced by Enos McLeod. It has some enriching harmonics and wobbly low ends. On the flip, McLeod's 'Well Red' is a dubbed-out version with extra sonic spice making it more late night and twisted.

Review: Augustus Pablo and Enos McLeod were something of a dub dream team back in the heyday of the gene in Jamaica. They produced plenty of great jams together, a few of which are being reissued at the moment. This one is another heavy hitter from the pair. 'Pablo Nuh Jester' pens up with some traditional drum shuffle and natty guitar work. The kicks sit perfectly in the bass while the florid bursts of harmonica are pure vibes. On the B-side, Enos McLeod steps up to rework and further dub out his own rhythmic framework and calls it 'Last Of Jestering.'

Review: After a near two-year break, the shadowy CUE Point label - an imprint based in Valencia, Spain - returns to stores. To reintroduce itself, the imprint has decided to offer-up a multi-artist EP featuring cuts from new signings, old heads and friends of the label. Pad Union kicks things off with the deep, dusty and gently jazzy 'Holodnaya Para' - all rich Rhodes chords, languid bass guitar and crunchy drum machine beats - before storied producer ScruScru joins forces with Guydee on the acid-fired, funk bass-propelled house bounce of 'Nesting Down'. Review: Pahua is a Mexican singer, percussionist, DJ and producer who was once part of the Sotomayor band but went solo in 2020. Her sound is steeped in Latin influences and resulted in a debut album in 2023 and she recently landed on Razor-N-Tape with some tracks that now get remixed on this new 7". First up is 'Espantapajaros' (feat La Perla - Poirer remix) which is a mix of deep drums and synths with some florid flutes up top to bring the colour and charm. Review: This is the latest repress of a classic from Terrence Poker who dedicated it to Detroit DJ Legend Ken Collier when it first arrived. His passing "deeply touched" Parker and no doubt many others given the influence he had with the music he played. It comes on silver vinyl and opens with Parker's classic house gem 'Love's Got Me High' (Tribute mix) then takes in the blissed-out 'Love Love' and gets more jacked up and loopy with the B-side 'Why After All This.' Closer 'Somethin' Here' is steeped in loopy disco baselines with dancing chords and irresistible funk. A must-own 12".

Review: Celestial Echo has got a superb one here for this year's Record Store Day in the form of a reissue of Winfield Parker's superb soul classic, 'I Wanna Be With You.' This gem was first released in Baltimore in 1979 and in the 45 years since it has become one of those many sought-after soul treasures that will often cost four figures now on second hadn't markets. The reissue comes on limited edition 7" and has been meticulously remastered so sounds excellent with its buttery vocals and soothing, hooky melodies.

Review: New Theo Parrish? Yes please. The Sound Signature boss remains in a class of one and continually finds new ground to explore in the studio, often taking a freeform jazz mindset to roughed-up house and techno that blends the mechanical with the soulful in otherworldly, hypotonic fashion. 'Orange Barrel Action (Yellow Flashing Light mix)' is very much in that mould with lumpy drums detuned and off-grid keys and hissing hi-hats all coalescing into something seductive and subversive. 'Pianamonn' is a deep house foundation topped with weird and wonky keys in inimitable Parrish style.

Review: Detroit innovator and singular soundsmith Theo Parrish returns with a new EP which we're told is his response to "stagnation and nonmovement" either physiologically, mentally or physically. 'Positive Mental Attitude Solves All' is up first and is a tribute to the late great funk-father Amp Fiddler. It's a typically deep cut with dusty drums and irregular, scruffy percussive lines layered in next to diffuse synth warmth and soulful melodies. 'Traffic Jams' plays with similar signature themes and is sure to loosen up mind, body and soul. Another standout bit of work from the venerable Motor City man.

Review: Don't let this one go over yo head son! The final repress from Sound Signature HQ is an essential slab of late 90s Motor City deepness from Theo, presented once again for contemporary reassessment and sounding every bit as jaw dropping 14 years on. Dropping back in 1999, title cut "Overyohead" came to be regarded as a quintessential Theo Parrish track; strings incandescent with soul and lovingly off centre Rhodes riding those heavy drum arrangements towards a sweet piano infused crescendo. Face down, "Dance Of The Drunken Drums" is a prime example of Theo's own distinct brand of cavernous beatdown.

Review: Marco Passarani is a real techno player in his native Rome and beyond, and now he revives his Studiomaster alias for some red hot club cuts. The name comes from the Studiomaster P7 console he tuns his music though in order to lend it some real-world grit and grime. You can hear it in all these cuts, from the acid-laced low-end oscillations of 'Nerve Punch' to the stripped-back and hissing hi-hats and synth sequels of 'Psy Vs Psy'. 'Wake Up Shake It' is another skeletal rhythm with plenty of metallic textures and 'Test Drive' then lands with more of a firm thud. Add in the loopy 'Numero 4' and you have a stylish and severs EP of fresh minimal.

Review: There is unbridled joy and youthful exuberance to these fizzy new cuts from Peach. 'A Pretty Planet' is a nostalgic sound that harks back to endless summer days playing in fields. 'Charmed' has a slightly more physical groove but still comes with excitable melodies and a feel-good energy. On the flip side of this 12" for Can You Feel The Sun is 'Sugar N Spice' in two versions. First is the (Deeper dub) which is a stripped-back and dusty deep house shuffler with balmy pads while the Rollin dub is more prickly, percussive and kinetic. Review: Is there a more celebrated combination in all of reggae than Lee Perry & The Upsetters? The master producer and his iconic backing band laid down many of the genre's most vital sounds and helped subtly evolve it across the seventies and beyond. This single 'Jungle Lion' came right in the midst of that in 1974. An original 7" will cost you upwards of 500 quid, and that's if you can find one. Here it gets reissued on the young but already well-formed Skank & Groove label and is backed with a version by The Upsetters named 'Freak Out Skank' that gets even more warm, cavernous and dubby.

Review: Having previously served up sensational EPs from the likes of Anthony Teasdale, Dan Piu and Tape Hiss, Euphporic Music has turned to debutant David Inglesfield's PersistentRain project for its latest 12-inch. Inglesfield dazzles from the start, offering up a warming, heady and analogue-rich slab of club-heavy deep house niceness ('I Can See'). It is followed by vocal and instrumental takes on 'Last Spring', a more nostalgic, jazzy and immersive slab of sunrise-ready soundscape deep house underpinned by a killer bassline. Review: They say that a picture paints a thousand words. Well that is certainly true of this Picture whose music is hugely evocative and emotive deepest being stripped down to its bare essentials. 'Banana' kicks things off with a murky dub sound that sways back and forth with hefty drum rumbles and liquid metal pads. 'Bring' is then a painterly synth-laced ambient piece that suspends you in a murky and misty sky while 'Sea' offers the most direct vibe of the lot. It's flabby but dynamic dub techno that leans into the groove and will have you doing the same.

Deep House
Review: The third outing from the Do It Now Recordings crew looks to Pigsie's 'Haunted'. It's a perfectly zoned-out slice dreamy and organic deep house for open-air dancing under the sun - the sort of thing that you'd hear at an All Day I Dream party. After that sublime original comes three remixes starting with DJ Jauche who adds some distinctive Afro-house flavours before J. Axel keeps the airy, light melodies and supple drums in place but brings some extra twinkling keys. Last of all is Mattias Vogt whose version is a hypnotic roller with pads smeared across the face of the tune and delightfully innocent melodies floating about the mix.

Review: dO iT nOw Recordings makes its debut in the world of vinyl with a various artists' sampler that shows just what they are all about. First up is Pigsie's wonderful 'Silk' which sets a fine tone with lush jazz-inspired keys, dreamy pads and intricate drum work that make it well suited to those late-night sessions. Wearing Shoes then offers 'Finding Your Words' with buttery Rhodes licks and looped vocals over fat bass, and the B-side begins with Michael Oberling and his deep jazz grooves, trumpet solos and swinging drums. Massive R closes with the lovely, jazzy house of 'This Feeling' complete with snappy drums and a catchy piano hook.

Review: Marcellus Pittman is one of our favourite Motor City mavericks. He crafts raw as you like drum tracks and layers them up with weird and wonderful sonic details. For opener 'Bumpin Squwow???' here the beats are paddy, dusty and warm, while the synths up top are twitchy and sharp but doused on more heartfelt chord work. It's a beguiling mix, then 'Faze Out' gets all wonky with prickly hits and vamping digital chords speaking of a future world. 'November Peoples' is deep and sleazy house with a more human sense of heartbroken soul.

Review: Esteemed electro explorer Emile Facey aka Plant 43 is back on his Plant43 Recordings imprint. Despite being hugely prolific, the artist always managed to find fresh new creative ground with each new outing and Concrete Echo is no different. The title cut is a high-speed opener with shimmering lines, fizzing static electricity and drama in the chords that make you take note. 'Emerald Shift' is a broken beat kicker with raw claps and scintillating liquid metal leads while 'Raw Vectors' layers up acid wobbliness and textbook electro rhythms. 'Mist Memory' closes down with a melancholic vibe and heady synths that take you into the cosmos.

Review: Star Creature is very much leading from the front right now if you like cosmic disco. Tim Zawada's label is back with another delicious dose of the stuff here as Plastic Bamboo heads out on a crime jazz exploration of the outer reaches of our galaxy. His lithe beats and rugged drums are laced up with marvellous synths that are ever on the move. They shine bright and bring real sugary rushes of joy as curious narratives and intergalactic intrigue come thick and fast. Amongst the big bright cuts are some more mellow moments like the wonderful 'A Scene At The Sea' with its hints of Afro percussion. Delightful.

Review: DJ Bagdhad debuts on Boyanza Records with some straight up dancefloor fire. The excellent 'Get Paid' has jacked up 808 beats run through with raw percussion and a sleazy ghetto edge. Some rapid-fire vocals add further attitude to this sure fire weapon. After the Acid Dub comes Gome's interpretation which brings a more elegant touch and plenty of deep house drums with slowed down vocals and fresh bass. Last of all is Hype Club edit from DJ Bagdhad that layers in some epic piano stabs.
