This time out it is two more massive slices of tasty Latin funk getting served up. The first is Abram & Nestor's 'Four Minutes Of Funk' which is indeed four minutes of funk that will unite dancefloors from here to eternity with its big organ magic. Nestor Alvarez' 'El Trombonista' is as you might guess denied by its big trombone and also boasts some great horn work. Do not sleep.

Review: Oh my Lord, it's a new Mahogani twelve inch which has taken us by complete surprise! Review: 'Kajyadhi-fu bushi' is actually a Japanese wedding song. It was first written and recorded in 1977 by Jazz man Jun Arasaki and his Nine Sheep collective. They did it in one take - which is the one you hear here - across an array of unusual (at least here in the west) instruments such as five sanshin, four winds, piano, bass, percussion and drums. It's a sombre, slow-motion lullaby that is imbued with subtle joy. Next to the original, a Visible Cloaks remix up the ambient beauty and makes it feel more cosmic and expansive.

Review: Coming back with a vengeance, The Brand New Heavies are releasing a classic double vinyl 12" of their new single "I Don't Know Why (I Love You)" from their new album "Get Used To It" on Delicious Vinyl. The awesome Heavies version of the Stevie Wonder cover gets multiple remixes from an all-star lineup of mixologists. Outta the box, 4Hero crew from the UK deliver two signature funk jazz classics, the "Electric Soul mix" will keep your head knocking and the "Folk Soul mix" will send your head on a trip into new sounds and textures that have become 4Hero's speciality. Flip over record one and you have the king of house music, Kenny Dope delivering the goods as only he can. His main and dub versions put a pumping house twist on N'Dea's classic soulful delivery. Cool chords and dynamic beats make this another classic Heavies remix by the dopest one. But wait, there's more! On wax number two, the king and pioneer of remixing, Tom Moulton steps up and delivers a hot buttered soul remix of the album version. Coupled with an instrumental and acappella, Moulton's mix brings out every nuance of the Heavies funky live playing. Sounds like the record came right off the Stax assembly line. Finally, last but definitely not least, DJ Spinna takes his swing with a double dose of Heavies soul. Not only does he deliver a stellar beat heavy rendition of "I Don't Know Why" but adds an additional remix of "Sex God" featuring Phonte from Little Brother! Review: 20 years ago, legendary jazz-fusion drummer Billy Cobham released one of his most interesting albums, a 21st century jazz-funk opus called Drum 'N' Voice. Recently Rebirth Records has been offering up EPs packed with fresh reworks from a wide variety of dancefloor-focused producers. Their latest batch of reworks begins with a percussive, jazz-dance friendly 'ReVision' of 'Roller' courtesy of the Reflex, before Dele Sosimi and Medlar join forces to create a fizzing, Afro-futurist electrofunk re-wire of the very same track. Elsewhere, Local Artist drops a warming deep house version of 'Let Me Breathe', Early Sounds boss Pellegrino joins the dots between jazz funk and disco on his version of 'Le Lis', and Arpe Frique slows things down considerably on his fine 'Spirit of a late friend' mix of 'Africa's Sounds'.

Review: The Brazil 45s / Mr Bongo outlet is back with its classic moves, coming through with some truly special soul blends out of the Brazilian golden era. Dalila and Neyde Alexandre feature in this latest 7", the former with 1968's "Canto Chorado", a slow-burning bubble of funky exotica - surely impossible to find in its original shade - and the latter with a funky little bomb from 1971 by the name of "Perplexidade" - surely the smoothest, sexiest soul number out this week! Lovely stuff.

Review: Damon Garrett Riddick offered a fine addition to the DJ Kicks canon with his 19 track DaM-Funk selection earlier this and in time honoured tradition his exclusive contribution gets a vinyl release backed with a rather special remix. In a nod to his cache and love of classic deep house, Riddick has coaxed a Mr Fingers remix out of Larry Heard resulting in a sublime take on "Believer" that would have gone down a treat at Broken Beat haven Co-Op back in the day. Instead of the original version of "Believer," the flip features another Riddick original from the DJ Kicks mix - his killer Nite Funk collaboration with fellow LA synthesizer enthusiast Nite Jewel.

Review: Lisa Decker makes a return with two new singles here that are taken from her upcoming album which is due in May of this year. It comes two years after her debut with the Japanese jazz trio Nautilus and marks something of a conceptual shift in her sound. 'Love & Hope' finds her turn in a stylish jazz vocal with funky bass loops and organic drums and percussion that straddle many different genres. 'Summer Child' then sinks into a nice smooth jazz-funk vibe with soft focus chords bringing a touch of class to her breezy vocals.
