Review: The seventh and final installment of this vinyl series hones in on tracks that are sure to keep the dancefloor packed. Pressed on striking transparent blue and green vinyl, this 2LP set is a pulsating collection of club classics that defined the era's nightlife, bridging disco, funk, house, electro, pop and hip-hop into an irresistible sonic melting pot. Side-A starts off with winner and Inner City's euphoric house staple 'Good Life', setting the pace for an album steeped in dancefloor euphoria. Kym Mazelle and Robert Howard's soulful 'Wait' and Coldcut's 'People Hold On' with Lisa Stansfield show the decade's seamless blend of house and pop, while 'Pump Up The Volume' by M/A/R/R/S redefined sampling's role in dance music. S'Express's 'Theme from S-Express' and Bomb The Bass's 'Beat Dis' bring explosive energy, while Technotronic and Rob 'n' Raz keep the tempo high with their club anthems. Late-'80s remix culture shines as Chaka Khan's 'I'm Every Woman' get a modernised update while PWL's glossy, synth-driven touch on 'Sandra' shines brightly. 80s dance legends Bananarama and Samantha Fox are also have vital appearances to the collection. LP2 dives into hip-hop-infused dance with Soul II Soul's 'Back To Life', Ten City's deep-house masterpiece 'That's The Way Love Is' and Neneh Cherry's genre-defying 'Buffalo Stance'. The finale is pure club gold: 'The Only Way Is Up' by Yazz, the thunderous 'Blue Monday '88', and 'Fools Gold' by The Stone Roses. Closing with 808 State's 'Pacific State' and The Beloved's 'Sun Rising', Floorfillers is a flawless time capsule of dance music's late-80s evolution. This double pack is steeped in history while being an excellent range of styles that made the 80s so remarkable.

Review: The legendary Now series was a gateway into so much new music for people of a certain generation, way before the internet came along and opened up the entire history of recorded music to everyone. It's great that it is still going, and this first outing for the New Year is a vast, unmixed and four-CD collection of some of the 80s' most cherished pop hits. This part focuses specifically on 12"s from 1982 and includes all the names you know and love from Gary Numan to Tears For Fears, Daryl Hall & John Oates to Siouxsie & The Banshees - a complete collection and then some.

Review: The legendary NOW series is still going strong despite the fact that the music industry and how we access and listen to music has changed immeasurably since they first started way back in the 17th century (maybe.) Now they focus on serving up complete compendiums and comprehensive overviews of entire genres or decades. This NOW: Yearbook 1990 comes across three slabs of orange vinyl with names like Dee-Lite, Dusty Springfield, Duran Duran, Bass-O-Matic and many more all present and correct. If nothing else it is a great trip down memory lane and fine resource for jobbing DJs.

So it makes perfect sense that at this time of year, they have turned their attention to the festive season with NOW That's What I Call Christmas which comes across triple green vinyl. All of the big hits and family favourites are included from Wham to Cher, Slade to Brenda Lee's warm and wintry favourite 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree.' There is no reason not to add this one to the shelves and let the good times roll.

Review: .NOW's Yearbook series of quadruple CD sets reaches 1990, a year in which the currents of dance music's future dominance of the pop charts became stronger and more pronounced. Of course, this being a pop-focused collection, the musical story told is far more varied. So while there are suitably baggy, bowl haircut-sporting indie-dance numbers from the likes of Candyflip, Happy Mondays and the Stone Roses, as well as crossover club hits from the likes of The KLF, the Adventures of Stevie V and Dee-Lite, you'll also find synth-pop melancholia from the Pet Shop Boys (including 'Being Boring', arguably Neil Tennant's best song), boy band business from New Kids on the Block, a dash of Kylie Minogue, alt-rock hits from Faith No More and Bon Jovi, and a blast of Elton John.
