Xaoc Devices Lublin is a high-quality dual VCA module with exponential CV inputs. On top of that, its two identical channels feature additional inputs for pinging. These inputs use an elaborate analogue circuit to model the dynamic behaviour of vactrols, allowing you to trigger a carefully crafted gain response that mimics the natural decay of plucked and struck acoustic instruments. Unlike lowpass gate modules though, Lublin reduces gain while retaining the full frequency bandwidth, so it is perfect for harmonically rich signals, like our Odessa additive VCO. The vactrol-like behaviour is just a starting point as the envelope may be varied within a wide range using a switch (natural, shortened and prolonged response) and a potentiometer, so you are not stuck with one decay characteristic. Therefore, you can use it not only to create bongos, but also for fat compressed kicks! The built-in gain control circuit (saturating CV instead of the audio signal) prevents distortion from excessive amplification. Lublin is DC-coupled, so you can use it to process CV as well as audio signals.

CYMBL909 is a dual voice module containing the TR-909's original Crash and Ride circuits adapted for use in Eurorack modular synthesizer format and was designed to sound like a fresh machine coming out of the assembly line back in the 80's. On top of the original, Tiptop have added some great new features that expand the sound palette of what can be produced with these two voice circuits.

The original circuits use a combination of low-fi 6-bit sound samples that pass through a series of analogue elements that provide envelope and filtering to the source sound. The CYMBL909 module adds manual and voltage control of the sample's analogue tuning section creating tones which range from heavy industrial at the low end, to the original crash/ride sound at the mid range, and bright hats-like sounds at the top end. Modulating the tune with an envelope, CV sequencer, or LFO makes interesting sound bending effects, which can be applied either in or out of sync with the triggering of the sounds.

Just like the other drums in this series, the CYMBL909 high-powered output gain stage allows you to further enhance the sound through distortion and clipping. Tiptop have designed a dual pulse-shaper circuit on each gate input so you can trigger your CYMBL909 with trigger/gate signals from step sequencers, clock dividers or any other pulse/clock.

The HATS909 is the TR-909's original Closed and Open Hi-Hats circuits adapted for use in Eurorack modular synthesizer format and was designed to sound like a machine coming fresh off the assembly line back in the 80's. Improving on the original, TipTop have added some great new features that expand the sound palette that can be produced with this small, powerful module.

The original TR-909 circuit is made with a combination of low-fi sound samples that pass through a series of analogue elements to provide envelope and filtering to the source sound. The HATS909 module allows for manual and voltage control of the sample's tuning, which provides anything from crushed hats and short ticks to the original sound and anything between. Additional controls allow you to send a voltage control signal to either the tune input or the internal VCA for modulation with external control signals and, using a modulation switch, add AM or FM synthesis in the audio range from external oscillators, other drum sounds, or just about any other sound source. Lastly, HATS909 also offers a switch that allows you to tap directly into the raw output of the module for a unique sound source that can used throughout your system.

On top of the original circuit, Tiptop have added new features that expand the palette of what can be produced with this analogue circuit.

The sound of the SD909 consists of two main sections: the binary noise generator and two modulated triangle oscillators. The oscillators provide the low end punch while the noise makes up the upper sonic spectrum, resulting in a combination that makes the 909 snare sound so rich. In the SD909 module, the noise generator and oscillators are variable and voltage-controllable, pushing the circuit beyond its original boundaries, offering new sounds and many variations of the original tone. The panel also has markings to guide setting the knobs to reproduce the vintage snare sound of the original machine.

Just like the other drums in this series, the SD909's high-powered output gain stage allows further enhancement of the sound through distortion and clipping. Tiptop have designed a dual pulse-shaper circuit on each gate input so you can trigger your SD909 with Trigger/Gate signals from step sequencers, clock dividers, or any other pulse/clock sources. Also, the SD909 is equipped with access to the MIXZ MixBus, matching the rest of the Tiptop line of percussive modules.

Notes: Reverse-engineered from the original machine, the BD909 is an identical recreation of the original all-analogue drum circuit of the TR-909. Tiptop have added additional controls and synthesis features that turn this classic circuit into a chest-pounding analog bass drum laboratory - all tightly packed into an 8HP module. The BD909 sound differs from the BD808 in that the main sonic energy is centered in the mid to low frequency range (as opposed to the low frequency range of the BD808). This frequency range gives the needed headroom allowing your bass lines to deeply fill up the low end while the kick drum rides on top - creating a clear and punchy mix.

The BD909 includes all the controls found in the original: Attack, Decay, Tune Decay, Accent, and Level. Tiptop have gone beyond that and added controls that further increase the palette of sound this circuit is capable of. First off, a tuning control knob has been added for the oscillator and included its own CV input and attenuator that let you tune the 909 kick with your bass lines. Next, control knobs have been added for the tuning attack and extending tuning decay. Each one affects the other, allowing for intuitive and interactive sound shaping, opening Z8000 up numerous "sweet spots" and provides the ability to center the energy peak at different parts of the sound. Finally, Tiptop have offered additional punch and distortion by giving complete control over the internal waveshaper, which allows you to overload the waveform manually or with voltage control.

Beginning with the classic and pure sound of the 909 kick, these additional functions greatly expand the BD909's flexibility and let it create powerful analogue bass drums that range from soft and smooth to punchy and aggressive - and everything in between.

(Delay And Reverb)

Motion Pictures combines lush delay and reverb with intuitive, powerful controls within a 10HP module. Choose between a crisp digital delay or a warm analogue delay and pair it with a spacious, large-hall stereo reverb. Delay and reverb levels can be adjusted independently, allowing you to use them separately or together. The delay time can be controlled using a knob, tap tempo, or CV. You can even send opposing CV signals to the tap tempo and delay time for glitchy, pitch-bending, rhythmic effects. Additionally, CV control extends to the feedback, delay, and reverb levels, providing greater flexibility. Motion Pictures offers rich ambient sounds in a compact design, combining delay and reverb in one module to optimize rack space while preserving sonic depth.

Designed to be a highly customizable connection matrix, 3DVCA packs a boat load of utility into a small 6HP package. Four VCAs share the three macro controls: X, Y, and Z. As a group, they shape incoming and outgoing signals and emulate the coordinates of a point in 3 dimensional space. This allow the VCAs to work together in a mono, stereo, or quad configuration and accomplish a variety of mixing, crossfading, and panning functions.

3DVCA is designed to be used in the following functions:

Each output has a dedicated SUM input which allows an external signal to be automatically mixed into the output signal. This allows 3DVCA to daisy chain both with other mixers and other 3DVCAs. For example, you can create a full mono, stereo, or quadraphonic mix by plugging the output of each 3DVCA into the sum inputs of the next 3DVCA in the chain. Using this method, a set of 3DVCAs can create a fully voltage controlled and decentralized mixer which ties together anything from a small skiff to a monster synth.

When 3DVCA works as a crossfader or panner, the X and Y parameters follow an equal-power curve that keep output signals at the same volume no matter how many inputs are mixed together. This is in contrast to the Z parameter which follows a linear curve to always behave predictably with external modulation sources. All inputs are fully DC coupled in order to work with modulation speed signals as well as static DC voltage sequences; this means that 3DVCA can handle any sort of signal that you throw at it. All op amps in the device employ rail-to-rail inputs and outputs to enable the largest headroom when mixing many different signals together.

Notes: Catena is a control voltage powerhouse, packing in four channels of attenuation and offsets, two VC slew engines, half and full wave rectification, input voltage doubling and switchable voltage reference sources with an external offset input. As well as the standard cascading offset and polarisation utilities, the module can act as a percussive envelope generator or sidechain ducker, slow lag or glide control, waveshaper and mixer. Four channels of attenuators or attenuvertors are chained together, running from left to right, with an additional alternative mode per channel. The channel functions are chosen using a three-way slide switch above each control pot. Alternative modes use attenuvertion at the preamp stage allowing the modified signal to be polarised.

VREF Control

With no CV input patched, each channel generates +-5V or +-10V depending on the attenuvertor and VREF Switch position. The switch toggles between +5V and +10V precision voltage references. All Inputs and outputs soft clip at +-10V.

Slew Controls

CH 1 & 2 in the alt (slew) modes can have the slew response switched between tight and loose. There is further CV control via the CV input jack.

Offset Control
The pot controls the additional VREF amount added to CH 2, 3 & 4. With a CV input patched the pot controls an external signal input amount.CH 1 can also be offset by shifting a jumper on the rear panel.

Signal Doubler

Instead of unity gain as per the other channels, CH 4 doubles the input gain of a patched signal, but keeps any chained or offset signals at unity gain.

Mixer

High quality OPA op amps are used throughout, and Catena will happily serve as a mixer for 1-4 channels of audio. A five channel mixer is also possible by adding an audio signal to the offset jack.

Clever four-channel utility module designed to make it easier to achieve perfect oscillator tracking and transpose CV signals. Also includes some neat quantising and portamento features.

The CalTrans solves issues encountered when playing tonal music with a modular system: tracking problems, curves unrelated to Volt per octave ratio, limited octave range, cumbersome transpose, ...

The CalTrans corrects and expands the range of troublesome VCOs and brings V/Oct tracking to anything that oscillates.

Besides calibration, the CalTrans offers live play features. Each channel can be quantized and any combination of them transposed jointly.

A pair of rotary encoders with detent allow an precise selection of octaves and semitones.

VCOs whose tracking doesn't go high enough to follow the leader will see their pitch repositioned in their highest possible octave so that the global harmony is unaffected.

You can add a pinch of portamento and glissando to each channel and save the whole in user presets.

Firmware 1.17 offers:

The high-efficiency PWM dimmers run at high frequency, ensuring flicker-free and noise-free operation. Additionally, extensive line filtering keeps your Eurorack power supply happy and clean.

Not limited to just manual control, both dimmers also feature control voltage (CV) inputs, turning the connected lamps from simple light sources to voltage controlled audio-visual spectacles.

Notes: A rock-solid all-rounder of a VCO, the Cycle 5 is a triangle-core oscillator with morphable wave shapes as well as conventional sine, triangle, saw and pulse outputs. Switchable octaves and 5th transposition make the module even more user friendly.

A small Eurorack oscillator that packs a punch: that's the best way to summarise Cycle 5.

At its heart lies a refined high-stability triangle core voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), with performance matching or exceeding that of much bigger and costly oscillator modules.

Instead of a coarse frequency knob, a 7-position octave switch is provided. This in combination with a perfect fifth transposition switch and factory pitch tuning, makes Cycle 5 an exceptionally straightforward and musical VCO to use: simply centre the fine tune knob, and the module will be instantly tuned to reference C.

Meanwhile, its dual precision volt per octave inputs add a great deal of versatility. For example, one could be used for pitch sequencing and the other as a generic exponential FM input, or both sequenced together for transposition effectsithe dual inputs serving as a built-in precision adder.

Sporting all the classic waveforms, ranging from sine wave, triangle, saw and square/saw, as well as a hard sync input and low frequency oscillator (LFO) mode, Cycle 5 makes for a real workhorse VCO. The novel trigonometric waveshaper results in a very clean sine wave, ideal for sub bass duty.

Cycle 5's highlight however, is its vari-wave feature. By adjusting the vari-wave knob, the waveform on the matching output will smoothly morph from sine, to triangle, saw, square and finally a very narrow pulse. The vari-wave parameter can be CV controlled, up to audio frequencies for some intense timbres.

Equally at home as a modest modulation companion to big VCOs, as being in the spotlight in miniature or polyphonic systems, Cycle 5 might just be the most multi-talented tiny analogue oscillator yet.

Notes: The Stereo I/O 1U is an all-in-one audio input/output module designed to bridge the gap between your Eurorack system and line-level devices. Whether you want to process external audio with your modules, monitor your patch with headphones, or connect your system to mixers or interfaces with line level - Stereo I/O 1U has got you covered.

Audio I/O allows you to effectively interface your Eurorack modular system to the balanced line-level world (+4 dBu). You can send and return to rack mount/desktop fx units, patch to external line-level instruments like synths and drum machines, interface to a DAW and much more.

The rear-mounted 3-pin CHAIN IN connector allows you to sum (in parallel) other audio sources to go from Eurorack level to the BAL LINE OUTPUTS. This could be from modules like the Mixup 3U, Xfade 1U, Stereo Mix 1U, and XY I/O 1U. You could also use this to connect with the 3-pin headers on the Palette and 7U cases audio i/o boards.

Notes: The aux mix 1U is a 3-channel stereo mixer module with a stereo auxiliary send bus. The routing options on this mixer module make using aux mix 1U for send FX, parallel processing, feedback mixing, and more possible. It is designed for audio signals only (not for mixing CV). It is AC-coupled, and uses audio-grade, logarithmic attenuators for a smooth, even response across the entire volume range.

Each channel has a dedicated pair of inputs for stereo audio sources. The left channel inputs are normalled to the right for mono audio sources. All three channels feature a precise level attenuator, a mute switch, and an LED input activity level indicator. The three stereo channels are mixed and summed to the main outputs, where they can be patched out to a wider Eurorack system or external pro-audio equipment. The output stage features soft-clipping diodes for smoother saturation when signal levels are very high.

In addition to the main mix controls, channels 1 & 2 also feature an aux level attenuator with a pre/post switch. These can be used to create an independent aux mix which is routed to another pair of outputs, separate from the main mix. The aux output stage also features the same soft-clipping diodes as the main output. aux mix 1U has four 3-pin connectors on the rear side for directly routing audio between other Intellijel cases & modules - without the need for patching cables. Connections include aux in, aux out, chain in & chain out. This also allows you to chain multiple aux mix 1U modules together to form even bigger mix chains.

The Mutant Rimshot is a fully analogue rimshot and clave generator inspired by the rimshot found in the legendary 909 drum machine; a triple bridged-T oscillator coupled with a state variable filter. The clave sound (not a feature of the original 909 rimshot) is achieved by using just one of the oscillators.

Rimshot HI mode brings classic rimshot sounds
Rimshot LO gives a lower pitch range; try playing with the filter on this setting to get low tom and kickdrum sounds.
CLV (Clave) mode uses just one of the oscillators to give you a brighter, higher percussive sound.
A switch on the back lets you select between original and extended pitch modes. Original mode can give you rimshots exactly modelling that of classic machines (in Hi mode), whereas extended mode gives a wider range of pitch, at the expense of classic accuracy.

Notes: Introducing the Cortisol Legend: a spiritual successor to one of my early designs, the Steroid Legend, it presents as 4hp of white hot saturation and hairy distortion, and features manual control over two op-amp driven gain stages, with a diode saturation control in the middle, giving you precise control over distortion ranging from smoldering saturation all the way into utter rail-to-rail fuzzification.

As for the diodes, the Cortisol Legend has two flavors on tap: Steroid Legend-inspired diodes and genuine, Cold War-era USSR-made Germanium diodes from the far reaches of Europe. These diodes are getting increasingly hard to find, but have been known for their warm and fuzzy characteristics by guitar pedal enthusiasts for years. Here, you get the genuine article, for as long as they can be reliably sourced.

In addition to having control over the saturation depth, the Cortisol Legend offers an additional control parameter: Eustress and Distress. Roll off the edge and noise a bit with a Styroflex-capacitor filter which varies with saturation depth, or leave no edge unjagged with this setting.

Speaking of noise, this thing is LOUD, so you may want to have an attenuator such as the psATT on hand, unless of course the loudness is exactly what you want. Hand in hand with the overdrive and distortion comes, of course, beautiful new harmonics added to anything from single waveforms to samples, sounds and entire mixes.

Various diodes will be available at different times, but all variants are ultimately limited - all Germanium diodes used in these are new old stock from the Cold War, and one day they will run out.. Expect individual modules to have a bit of their own character.

Notes: What's that I hear? You want grit and filth for your system? Tired of not having enough harmonics in your signal? Maybe all your sounds are a bit too cold and sterile?

Yes, great, you've got lots of VCAs with "clean gain on tap" and "exemplary responsiveness" and all that other stuff - please excuse me if I'm yawning with utter boredom and rolling my eyes- now, get yourself a fully analog optical VCA that'll make your hairs stand on end when you push the gain into distortion and press the vactrol into saturation.

Use it for stereo, use it for two signals, use both channels in sequence, but please let your signals go towards the light and put it to use! Don't make me beg

Notes: Super Sawtor is the module designed to produce unison like waveforms from the incoming signal. The best results are achieved using sawtooth, triangle or sine waveforms as an input signal. Unison spread has been tuned to give almost the same type of harmonics smearing as the famous Roland JP80X0 Supersaw oscillator. Thus feeding the Super Sawtor with a sawtooth waveform will result in a typical Supersaw output.

Though having some common features with sawtooth animators, Super Sawtor gives that vivid tension of the Supersaw waveform, which is different to imitation of the multiple oscillators sound most sawtooth animators capable of doing. The main difference is in the approach used: sawtooth animators tend to recreate continuously moving phase shift of the slightly detuned / drifting oscillators; super Sawtor in its turn creates additional pitched shifted harmonics to the input signal, which gives a different sonic character compared to sawtooth animators.

It is also should be mentioned that Super Sawtor is a completely analogue circuit free of aliasing.

No external modulation sources are required for proper operation of the module. However the user can add changes and modulation to the manually set "Spread" amount by using "Cv" input and adjusting "Cv" knob to the desired degree.

Notes: Module A-121d is a special dual multimode filter which can be used for parallel or serial organized dual mono filters. Even stereo applications are imaginable. The filters are based on two special circuits: one with highpass and bandpass outputs, the other with lowpass and bandpass outputs. It's a new filter design that is not used so far in any other A-100 filter module.

We attached great importance to the usability of the manual controls and CV inputs for dual filter applications: for the filter frequencies of both filters a common control (Frequ.) and a difference control (Delta, filter spread) are available. For both parameters even CV inputs are available (FCV, DCV). The resonance (Q1, Q2), the sensitivity of the individual frequency control input (FCV1, FCV2) and the level of the audio input (In1, In2) are adjusted by means of the individual controls for each filter.

The module has a simple audio mixing unit available with the inputs Mx1 and Mx2, and the output MxO. Provided that the mixer inputs are open bandpass 1 and bandpass 2 are normalised to the sockets Mx1 and Mx2. All other filter types are realized by connecting the other filter outputs (H1 = highpass 1, L2 = lowpass 2) to the mixer inputs.

Notes: What does this module do?

This is a sound generator, specifically, a metallic shimmer generator. This module contains all the onboard processing needed to complete a percussive voice. There is a manual XOR shimmer generator, and a static cowbell like generator. You can also turn those two off, and just use the internal white noise (sizzle).

There is an onboard High Pass Filter with two resonant peaks. One is controlled by knob, the other is selected by toggle switch. Labelled Q1 and Q2. An Auxilary input has been added so that you can process sound through the high pass filter.

There is also a Sweep Knob which internally patches the decay to the high pass filter.

A white noise generator is used to blend in with the shimmer generator. Labelled SIZZLE.

There are two triggers. One is for 'Open' sound. The other is for 'close' sound. Both open and close and have their own decay knob to adjust the length of the audio tail.

Instead of adding an 'accent' control. Both triggers have been made to be voltage variable. 5V triggering is the normal expected input. So a 3V trigger will sound softer in volume. 10V trigger signals will sound louder.

This module is as simple as it gets, just patch your Arturia Beat Step Pro and use the drum track.

Notes: What does this do?

This module takes two external sources (patched) from an external other module. It wants a triangle waveform and a square waveform.

The internal analogue circuitry will make you a variety of wave forms, selectable by knob. You can also blend the output with a slicer and a sub harmonic generator on the second channel.

This moduleis a considerable upgrade from a typical VCO. The wave shapes found on this product is the result of using going 15+ years' worth of analogue circuits.

You get two channels of waveform banks. Each can output something separate and different.

There is CV control for the Waveform selection banks, Sub harmonic selection bank, and Pulse Wave Modulation on channel 2.

Does this module require another module?

Yes, you need an oscillator VCO module. Best compatibility is a VCO with triangle wave and square wave.

Self oscillating sine wave from a VCF module can be used but will not take full advantage of the module.
