Review: SSSLIP and Beton Brut have tapped up grime pioneer Trim to add his bars for this new outing on Grid Records. He steps up to the mic for the lead track, 'Pigeons', which brings next-gen grime energy with raw, club-ready vibes and menacing bars that are underpinned by a wobbly low end, and it's all perfect for dance floor detonation. 'Transit Limb' dives into a nostalgic yet forward-thinking fusion of experimental grime and UK bass that subtly echoes the sounds of the early 2010s with twisted breaks and chopped vocals. On the flip, Noti brings a low frequency freak out with his remix, Beatrice M gets all glitchy and atmospheric with an ambient rework and 'Pigeons' comes as an instrumental.

Review: Leipzig producer Old Man Crane makes her debut here with a new four-track that explores new deep dubstep frontiers and subterranean bass excellence. The Bait label has been busy in the two years since it launched, as this marks a 16th outing, and their previous One Hundred and Fifty Steps compilation actually featured a first single from Old Man Crane. This fuller offering is class indeed, with 'Hepp' rolling on nice, rounded, thudding kick as smattered tops tap out a rhythm up top. 'Brew' is darker and more driving with a rolling bass energy and eerie urban atmosphere up top. 'Veil' is a slower rhythm with blurting sounds and lonely bird calls and 'Quork' then ups the pace with potent dub weight and searching synths. A fine start to life on vinyl for Old Man Crane.
