Review: Over the years, Marcello Catalana has released music under countless aliases - Airmail, Daryl Scott and Marcy included - but it's his mid-80s work as Thomas that gets Italo-disco collectors in a spin. This two-track retrospective from Blanco Y Negro offers up remastered versions of two of his most sought-after Italo-disco cuts from that period. On side A there's a chance to savour in-demand 1986 single 'Another Game', a Bobby Orlando-influenced chunk of synth-heavy glossiness that boasts eyes-closed lead vocals, rubbery sequenced bass, Fairlight style slabs, mid-80s edit trickery and some memorable lead lines. Over on side B you'll find 1985 debut 'You Take Me Up', a slower and arguably deeper Italo-disco workout peppered with freestyle-influenced synth melodies, reverb-laden drum machine fills, warming chords and a classic synth-pop style lead vocal.
