Review: Sorcerer is a perfect name for an artist who makes music as magical as this. The master of mellow sounds is back on Growing Bins with another of his delightfully formed albums. And Kids World is as inviting and accessible as you would expect - the rhythms are slow and bendy, the synths are colourful and playful, the mood over all is upliftingly cheery, innocent and happy. But never nauseatingly so. There is still plenty of artistry at work here with surfing guitars, spheric bass and reverb laden grooves all sinking you into a neon lit world of late night dub sounds.

Review: Daniel Saxon Judd is plenty prolific as Sorcerer, turning out albums and EPs in abundance on Tirk some ten years ago not to mention more recently landing on Is It Balearic? and Real Balearic, two labels that tell you exactly where his mood is pitched. This five-track EP for Dreamtime keeps the island mindset at the forefront, from the slow and easy "Baked Wave" to the more limber strum-funk of "Drop Shadow". There's some wobbly boogie to enjoy on "Mango Messenger" and MOR grooves of the highest order on "Zoned For Fun" - it's a record swimming in smooth.

Video Magic (4:11)
Video Magic (Chris Coco Balearic 12" mix) (8:21)
Video Magic (Ichisan remix) (5:55)
Video Magic (Daniel Solar remix) (6:48)
Review: Living up to their name, Ibiza-London-based label Real Balearic return for a second horizontally-inclined offering with San Francisco's Sorceror at the controls. With prior Sorceror releases on Catune, Tirk and Is it Balearic? Dan Judd's credentials are firm and Video Magic is a fine 12" addition to his discography. Featuring some shimmering guitar from Alesis Wedge, the original version of "Video Magic" is as warm and comforting a slice of contemporary Balearic as you could wish for, with further magic found in the accompanying remixes. Chris Coco ups the cosmic factor to 11 on his Balearic 12" mix, whilst the B side sees Ichisan turn in a glistening revision that really heightens the guitar lines. Daniel Solar adds a darker edge to his closing remix which might push the buttons of DJs looking for some dancefloor weight.

Zulu Honda (A Salinas JC 'Summer Loving' remix)
Review: Is It Balearic bring the heat with a stunning release from Sorcerer. The First track is Zulu Honda. Skipping thick drums and a bouncing bass overlaid with nu med guitars and beautiful synth lines. This track is made for pool parties and lofts. The second track is Afro Vibes a more atmospheric percussive groove. Maribas throbbing bassline and slightly melancholic guitars eventually make way for a subtle acid accent before returning to the groove.. Salins Jockey club remix zulu Honda adding some lovely elements while holding the original feel. Top draw from the dependable IIB crew

Review: "White Magic" is the debut album from California native Daniel Saxon Judd, aka Sorcerer. Influences on the Sorcerer sound include disco, early electronic music (Tangerine Dream etc), eighties electro-pop, psychedelia, kraut-rock and seventies style 'smooth music' such as Steely Dan, ELO and Fleetwood Mac.

Balearic/Downtempo
Vanity Project - "Flamingo Heights" (6:05)
Bobby Bricks - "Things I Remember" (4:39)
Pacific Coliseum - "Dream Island" (4:38)
The Variable Club - "Protofeel" (4:11)
Unknown Mobile - "Dog Taxi Hotel" (5:16)
Laseech - "Space Sunday" (4:51)
Sorcerer - "Just For Love" (4:20)
Review: The Mellophonia label offshoot Fusion Sequence won us over with its well-presented and great-sounding first EP, and now a quick follow-up does the same. This one is another various artists affair that starts with some nice futuristic robot disco from Vanity Project. There is more organic and lush Balearic from Bobby Bricks and Pacific Coliseum follows that spine-tingling Ibiza sunset vibe. On the flip side, there is everything from late-night electronic house to lazy disco via Sorcerer's blissed out 'Just For Love' which would entrance any dance floor. There's as much quality as there is variation on this one, which makes it a useful EP indeed.
