Review: Future is one of the biggest stars in the US rap game. He is also someone often 'credited' with changing rap's narrative toward constant drug references, overdoses and misgivings. This was his third full length and its packed with bumping and ice cold trap beats and a starkly futuristic yet dystopian sound. Reissued on teal vinyl for this year's Record Store Day it features all the original tracks. At the time, the record was a sequel to his breakout mixtape, Dirty Sprite, with production from Metro Boomin, Southside, and Zaytoven, among others.

Review: America's most drug-obsessed rapper and ringtone pop pioneer Future served up his hugely successful Evol ( ove spelled backwards) album in 2016. It now makes it to vinyl for Record Store Day 2021 and, listening back, it has aged well. It still sounds like a work well ahead of its time as it blends auto-tune singing and rapping seamlessly across the 11 tunes. Frequent collaborators Metro Boomin, Southside, TM88 and DJ Spinz handled production and The Weeknd guests on 'Low Life' with its day-lo synths, trap beats and swirling, late night and narcotic induced atmospheres. The album was certified platinum in 2018 for surpassing 1000000 sales.

We Are Not (7:14)
Time & Space (6:20)
Turn The Key (6:14)
Review: New toys from one of the hardcore old boys: Gary Van Dyck's stripes stretch right back to the birth. Recently re-emerging on labels such as 117 and Bustle Beats, he features regularly in the sets of pioneers such as Digital and Randall for good reason. Now making his Skeleton debut, each of the three cuts here hit hard and authentically. From the punishing edits and soars of "We Are Not" to the sense-blurring, gravity defying twists of "Turn The Key" via the hurricane that is "Time & Space", this represents everything that will always remain pure about foundation jungle... Past, present and of course Future (not sorry)

Review: Contemporary American stars rapper Future and record producer Metro Boomin make for a great combination, as they proved with their debut collaboration. We Still Don't Trust You is their second such work and is an even more impressive work with guest appearances from the likes of the Weeknd, Chris Brown, Brownstone, Ty Dolla Sign, J. Cole, Lil Baby, and ASAP Rocky. It's a double album with the first half being r&b-centric while disc two leans more into hip hop- and trap-focused beats with plenty of memorable tracks.

Where My Twin At
Review: When asked in a 2023 interview why he hadn't contributed any production work to long-time collaborator Future's 2022 ninth full-length I Never Liked You, tireless hip-hop producer Metro Boomin revealed that he was aiming to save his beats for a potential collaborative album, which now appears to have been the plan all along. Marrying the aquatic, lysergic production style Boomin has helped to majorly popularise with Future's hazy, xanned out delivery, the duo deliver a trap opus weaving the most accessible and underground facets of the genre into one malleable set of fluid bangers, while the guest feature section boasts a who's-who of modern day hip-hop acts such as The Weeknd, Rick Ross, Playboi Carti, Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar. The project also would eventually be retconned as part one in their ongoing collaboration series with the follow up to We Still Don't Trust you dropping only three weeks later.

Streets Made Me A King
Review: Future and Metro Boomin's double-disc sequel, We Still Don't Trust You, is a revitalised exploration of their dynamic, pushing familiar ground into brighter and sappier spaces. Future swings between flexing his status and indulging in tear-soaked reflections, notably in tracks like 'One Big Family' and 'Mile High Memories.' Metro Boomin balances his brooding, maximalist beats with polished, r&b-inflected production, as heard on the synth-pop title track and the smooth 'All to Myself.' While the album is nearly 30 minutes more than its predecessor, Future and Metro shine when they venture out of their comfort zones, making the music both prettiest and nastiest. Standout moments, such as Kendrick Lamar's verse on 'Like That,' inject a sense of animosity and excitement. Overall, We Still Don't Trust You is an adventurous AAA rap album, focusing on heartbreak more than feuds.

ART 1 EP (repress)

Techno
Clinically Inclined (remix)
Jam Packed
Nort Route (R&S remix)
Nort Route (remix)
Review: This is one of those "classic electronica" 12" singles released in 1992. R&S Records Belgium licensed the tracks from ART Records here in the UK. The track listing on this R&S 12" single differs from the UK release - Checkout "ART 1" On the "Applied Rhythmic Technology"' label to compare the track listings. Kirk Degiorgio kicks off the A side with his Future/Past guise. Heavy classic analogue techno is the order of the day. Balil features on the "B" side with two mixes of Nort Route. The first mix up is the "R&S" Remix, the second is the very best remix which came from the original "ART 1" 12" on ART Records. If you like classic electronica, you will love this 12" single from start to finish.......Happy Hunting....!!!

Drum And Bass
Jem One - "Network" (6:04)
Section - "Dark Phrases" (4:56)
Future - "Daffy's Secret Project" (5:15)
Sicknote, Sweetpea & Dissect - "Jahlocia" (6:08)
Review: This is how you kick off a new decade. Skeleton have been consistent with their brutalist dispatches since re-rising in 2014 and this new V/A levels things up once again. Jem One lights the fire with darkcore grit as layers of distorted breaks and strange alien rave textures twist in and out of the mix. Section follows with nasty rave stabs and a two-step so well chiselled you could trim your whiskers on it before Future flips things for an entirely different vibe on the minimal, subby and loose-limbed "Daffy's Secret Project". Finally Sicknote, Sweetpea and Dissect bring the funk on "Jahlocia". Once again the breaks are the focus but there's more than enough groove in the bassline to put on meat on everyone's table. Bad to the bones!

Kern Vol 3: The Rarities

Pollon - "Lost Souls" (5:44)
Fret - "Stuck" (6:16)
Future/Past - "Nebula Variation" (5:49)
Mono Junk - "I'm Okey" (5:12)
Review: If seeking out exclusives for his Kern mix on Tresor from artists as varied as Clatterbox, Via App and Shanti Celeste demonstrated Objekt's standing within the techno community, this 'Rarities' sampler reflects the Berlin DJ and producer's deep knowledge. The four tracks here see Objekt dip into the yawning chasm that is the techno archive, selecting '90s-era tracks from Fret, Mono Junk and Kirk Digiorgio's Future/Past alias, complemented by a turn of the century curio by Pollon. Of these four, it's "Stuck" from Fret aka Mick Harris that stands out in particular, a dark and sleek rhythmic kick that feels like a hybrid of Autechre and Hessle Audio.

Over Your Head (3:08)
Review: Future and Lil Uzi Vert are two artists who have very much ushered in the new era of hip-hop. The former has been accused of obsessing over drug use, specifically opiates, and popularising them with his fans while not actually partying himself, and the latter has collaborate with everyone worth knowing. Following the release of their collaborative new album Pluto X Baby Pluto and its deluxe version comes this 7" of one of its finest tunes. It got booming drums, crisp hits and the tight bars you would expect.
