Review: Landing with a curbstomp the year before their debut full-length Matando Gueros, 1992's iMachetazos! served as only the second 7" EP (of what would become a lengthy discography) from drug cartel death metal outfit Brujeria. While performing with their faces covered and under gangster pseudonyms, anyone within the scene knows the collective alumni boasts (or has at one point) Fear Factory's Dino Cazares and drummer Raymond Herrera, as well as Billy Gould (Faith No More), Nicholas Barker (Cradle Of Filth Dimmu Borgir) and Jeff Walker (Carcass). Lyrically touching on tops of Satanism, torture, gang violence and drug dealing, all united through Mexican imagery and gangster aesthetic; when coupled with the band's extreme form of death metal imbued grindcore, the resulting menace is akin to waking up in a mosh pit during Sicario.

Review: Following on from 2020's blistering debut, High Risk Behaviour, self-proclaimed aussie "shed-rock" trio, The Chats, are set to return with the beautifully, aptly titled, Get Fucked. With a batch of new, ludicrously catchy curbstompers detailing the highs, lows, and (especially) in betweens of Australian life, the band admitted simply that the title is designed to instil that same feeling of "woah, no way, cool" in young music fans the same way Green Day's 'Dookie' did for them once upon a time. Check out the gearhead, status hungry critique of latest single, '6L GTR', to prep you for what's sure to be a collection, equal parts cynical and serene.

Review: While many continue to argue the merits of the subsequent simultaneous birth and death of punk in 1977, it's difficult to debate either side of the point when dealing with the utter deluge of quintessential albums that dropped that year. Maybe not as snarling or feral as their peers in the Sex Pistols, the debut LP from The Vibrators managed to get captured in the rising tide of the punk movement while unabashedly delivering succinct, pop-inflected rock n' roll anthems, toying with new wave aesthetics before they'd even been firmly cemented. Noted for boasting the track that would inspire the band name Stiff Little Fingers, while offering those embracing punk in all of its frenetic glory a secret joyous respite shrouded behind fuzzed-out guitar lines, Pure Mania is an often forgotten classic of an integral era and finally arrives back home on suitably lush translucent magenta vinyl.
